FF14 is still getting fully-fledged content patches on a regular schedule (5 major content patches per expansion)
WoW, on the other hand, has gone from releasing 3 content patches (BFA) to 2 per expansion (SL), and the price per expansion has gone up $40 -> $50
VERDICT: FF14 is poggers and winning, and WoW is descending into maintenance mode (not very poggers)

how often do you do M+ dungeons for fun and not because of the maze? there are several FF14 trials and raids that people do just for fun, and to help out new players who they also want to experience the content, such as: Ivalice raids, tsukoyomi, final steps of faith, etc. and that's not even mentioning daily roulettes that also encourage running old dungeon/raid content with new players
also, the fact that they didn't tell you about SL being only 2 content patches instead of 3 until after the fact is just... lol. you must be BROKEN BUCK to accept such treatment from devs.

You are not wrong that MMOs needs some sort of incentive to entice players and that incentive is usually some sort of progression. But at the same fricking time it has been shown in hindsight and with the breakout success of XIV in the last 2ish years that devs have severely overestimated just how important these incentives are, to the point where FUN has taken a backseat in the name of efficiency, MAUs and timegating
XIV is successful, but by any measurably metric its still not even close to WoW and is like 10% of its players.
Yet WoW has had it's biggest dropoff in players since the last expansion and it just keeps on tumbling down.

WoW isnt losing people for a lack of content. Its because developers quit listening to them in regards to QoL, balance, weird political decisions and trying to reinvent the wheel every expansion with new borrowed power. People like grinds, but not ones that are taken away all the time.
I think its because modern MMO players are waking up to the realization that they do in fact like more than just raids and dungeons. They want meaningful side content. They want to 'live' in the game world. XIV facilitates this while WoW stagnates by becoming too gamey. The side content you guys mock in XIV is whats maintaining player retention without resorting to carrots or FOMO.
If what was being said about gear progression had any truth in it, no one would give a frick about "borrowed power" since they would be happy that there is new gear to grind every expansion regardelss. I mean, people replay ARPGs all the fricking time yet no one complains about having to "start over" again and again in those games, why do you think that is exactly?
Borrowed power is more than gear. Every WoW expansion the specs completely change how they play because the borrowed power gives you dramatic overhauls to how skills work, passives work and even entirely new skills and ways to play. People dont like having to relearn their spec or class every expansion or sometimes every patch.

Can nobody debate this guy? Technically hes right. The launch raid for Shadowlands has 10 raid bosses, already more than the entirety of an XIV expansion's savage raids. Then their second raid added 10 more. Then the last raid added 11. And this is in an expansion supposedly light on content.

It's just the number of people logging in at every given time, something like a 30s interval. I think it's for DDOS protection. There's only a real queue in EU after patch/maintenance or after a server crash.

It would differ because it would still require you to do damage to heal, and it would synergise with Soteira. I'd also like some other skills that interact with Kardia, it's a bit lame that it's the core job feature but doesn't get used much. Why not a skill to shield your kardia partner, or esuna them, or temporarily disable kardia to increase dps (either on yourself or on the target)?. Scholar has a couple of interesting fairy interactions, I'd like a bit more variety on Sage.

Asura in GW2 are vastly more expressive than lalas, but that doesn't make GW2 fun.
there's a fraction of the emotes available in GW2, the headtracking is clientside, emotes don't display in the chatlog, and they're harder to access because of the MOBA interface. it's more difficult to actually convey anything to another player without communicating with your own words.

Was it because of lack of time to release game again and it just stayed like that, lazy japs or something else like ps3 limiattions?
Budget issues.
When they were remaking the game they weren't giving a lot of resources or time to work with and had to cut back on luxury stuff like unique animations for non-important cutscenes to get ARR out, it cost a lot to make an MMO, even more to make it twice.
This is the reason for the Hildi quests it was just a way to let the animators go nuts and do whatever the frick they wanted.

Their old animation budget was atleast 3x higher than the one they have now and it ate into the budget for the rest of the game to the point where it was actuallly mentioned as one of the porblems that made 1.0 so shit. Healer damage is important on fights that actually matter aka savage and ultimate. If healers sat their with their thumbs up their ass you would not pass the damage checks.

If someone buys a 'month' or WoW in China, they actually buy X amount of hours. And if you never use those hours then you're still considered subbed. Theres probably millions of Chinese accounts being considered subbed because they simply have some hours still saved on their account.

used to be only FCs could buy a house, this meant that most housing wards were full of activity, I met a ton of players just hanging out in my FCs ward
then they introduced personal housing and they all become complete ghost towns and it just made it an unending battle to add more housing wards, to the point where it will never be fixed
should have just kept them FC only and made it so apartments could be upgraded as personal housing
