The only good thing about Dragonflight is that it will take back all of the WoW crowd at least for a while. Even now there are less wowtards since they are grinding in preparation.
I know I tried. It’s on the last patch so at least I wanted to do the last raid on Normal and maybe some Mythic+ but XIV really ruined it for me because having an alt in WoW is literally impossible unless you’re a NEET, every system and perk is locked behind hours of progression instead of being skippable after doing it in one character. Stuff like the legendary belt or the currency to turn your gear into tier set pieces.
And also the balance is horrible and combined with the toxic community it makes pugging hell. If you’re not one of the meta specs then no one will invite you or even join your group if you decide to make one. And the problem is not limited to DPS, even Healers get rejected if they aren’t Priests or Druids.
it’s night and day compared to XIV where the moment I hit max level with one job I can buy a set of crafted gear, that costs peanuts at this point, unlike WoW where all the prices are super inflated because of the WoW Token and all the people selling carries for gold, and join a practice group for P1S and probably clear the fight in an hour or two max and start advancing from there.

Absolutely not because this data center travel is still limited as frick. First of all you are limited to your own region so no US-EU hopping if that's what you wanted. Secondly, it basically works by uploading your character data to said data center, which is something you have to do every time before you can travel to another DC, including going back to your own. Every DC is essentially still a separate entity with no way to interact with each other.

It's a fun game, and it's not hard to find things to do you enjoy. However, some people seem to make the game a lifestyle, which leads to very strange behavior.
I think the problem people have is that the game just doesn't have a decent end-game. The reason Island Sanctuary was so hyped up is because they might get that, but now that they came out with what it's going to look like it's obvious it's just going to be the same type of content that doesn't really justify resubbing to hang out with friends. Doing Raids and Ultimates and Savage content is hard and can be a real pain in the ass. Sometimes you gotta be autistic to push through the slog that is finding a decent static. Just look at the % of players with clears for them.
im curious, whats the percent of players that have actually completed the currant savage? i couldn't imagine it being more than 20%.
