I'm really fricking tired of them, they have no conflicts left and nowhere left to grow. Why would I want six(+) characters who all agree on everything and all have similar skills and knowledge sets?
Think of any of the great FF parties (IV, VI, VII, IX, X, XII, XIII?), they all have a cast that varies greatly and is full of character flaws and in-party conflicts. The Scions just don't have that.
Hopefully next expansion we get some new blood in but considering how cowardly they have been with the story and how hard the playerbase simps for anything they churn out we'll have to keep enduring the same shit

I think Ryne has reached the end of her arc as "surrogate daughter learning to be a hero", but there is still plenty of room to expand from there. She could supplant the twins' narrative position.

Labyrinthos is just an indoor outdoor ring thing and not even a labyrinth. I frick with Thavnair and Garlemald, but damn did they shit the bed. Not even any good underwater exploration like the last 2 expacs.
They'll clearly be the EX trials, Cagnazzo will probably be a solo duty like Sapphire Weapon was, rest will be extremes. Golbez will be the story trial.
Zeromus can only really appear in the raid.

The name for the 6.2 trial was not revealed in the Live Letter. They only do that for story trials like Castrum Fluminis or Seat of Sacrifice.

Well it's fully possible that the story dungeon will have one or two of Golbez's lords, trial one extra and then next patch has the remaining lords as bosses and the trial has Golbez himself.
Or they stretch the 13th arc to lead into the next expansion and it would work out to have each lord and Golbez as the trial bosses.

They already said 6.0 is the end of the story, that frees up 6.3 for an extra slot.
So they can do all 4 fiends through the patches and 7.0 being a void expansion with Golbez at the end and that Dragon we are searching for.

Golbez will be the 7.0 antagonist after we've killed his fiends in the trial patches.
They could easily shake up the formula in XIV and have a trial after a dungeon like Amourout into Hades.

I've given up hope being done before 6.2. We only reached Double Dragons two weeks ago and we're still fricking up P3 the odd pull, and P5 isn't entirely consistent yet for Death of the Heavens.
Last two phases are a minute too long each. At least last phase doesn't look rough mechanically, but P6 is going to be a pain getting positionings down.
It sucks because P3 was time consuming as frick to get down to a 90% clear rate. One damage down 50% into the phase is still enough to make things shaky for my group even with everyone potting it....and then having the the affected player suicide+rez after because frick the devs for debuffs that are worse than being weakened. It's A3S Digititis all over again.
Yeah, both phases are static killers. I think legit like 2-3 of the statics I was helping broke apart because nidhogg towers just made everyone fight.
It's a draining ultimate for sure atm, but it should be nice when a clear finally happens, just one more phase on my end :(, good luck on your p6 prog, it was CBT tier with my group pushing it.
5/8th of my group has been through the past three ults, clearing them within their respective expac. We have made use of new pots/dungeon gear as it comes though, but all it does is just give us perhaps an extra 1%-enrage leeway if shit isn't 100% clean, which I rarely see anyways. We're either 5-8% behind on last phase, or it's dead mid-enrage showcase.
Watched a couple friend groups tackle UWU last expac and it was fricking sad what happened to that fight with the ShB job changes. Pretty much no healer or dps checks at all.
In terms of mechanics it isn't that bad, Wrothflame is the worst of it. It's just so strict and so late in the fight, one little mistake can wipe it. In terms of actual difficulty on its own though, I'd put it on par with P2. P5 is a bit harder in my opinion.
Thats the issue, it's mostly hard since something like Wroth is where most ultimates have their victory lap phase. The movement and attention needed on it IMO are more than WOTH or DOTH. Just progging the mech takes so long that it devours static time so you just hope everyone gets the hang of it and studies.
At least Wroth movement you can practice in the simulator so you don't need to trudge through 12.5 minutes every time just to try it again. Thank god for that.

Yeah, we have a static line-up for Dooms so the outsides are guaranteed their set spot, and also having the E/W dooms bait out their tether so there's no adjusting on their end for that.
It's mostly just spotting the safe direction to look at, and people not getting disoriented since there's not that much time to get tightly squeezed around the center ring.

Yeah, we're using a similar setup, just northside placement rather than south. Fixes the problem of the older strats prog groups used which involved some clock counting. The devs are still dicks for putting two twister gotchas in that phase though, but at least the timing for dodging them on Death of the Heavens is consistent (just move when everyone gets hit by their lightning aoes).

I'll have to give it a look. We don't have any real issues with that after realizing the people chosen for the puddle sets is split between those that got tethers/blue-marker/divebomb-marker, and the rest.
you've still got an entire month. unless you're right at the start of prog you should be fine. even if not well it's not like savage takes the entire week after prog.

the pandemonium raid is about elidibus and lahabrea's back story. they showcased them being friends, including igeyorhm in 5.3 and this feels like a follow up on that.
i guess the emergent gameplay is more fun. after trying out crystalline conflict i dont feel like the raids are as fun as this. xiv combat is just too scripted. i've done a couple of savages on shadowbringers and ucob btw.

It's the only way they know how to create 'difficulty' in an encounter. Anything too random/figure-it-on-the-fly and people will start preferring some jobs over others for better upkeep, which the devs absolutely so not want with how badly they cling to hard enrage timers on fight design.

Fully random mechanics are dull and easy to deal with unless you crank them up to the point people wipe more to bad rng than improper execution.
Rigid scripting allows for more satisfying mechanic execution while still throwing in adjustable variables for a good measure.
If you find that kind of raiding too easy then ditch the guides and form a blind prog static so you can solve those puzzles yourself.

The other day I thought it would be a great idea to add normal(er) difficulty to Coil of Bahamut for better way to expeirence the story and more variety in duty roulette.

It's such a shame that this content is currently rotting away when it's not even being preserved in its original pre-nerf iteration.
They're already reworking a bunch of old trials and dungeons, surely redoing Coils wouldn't be out of question either. The last turns of each Coil should be saved since they're pretty solid, although you probably have to tone down the difficulty a bit, but a lot of the others could be turned into solo instances with Alisaie/the twins.

Anyone here clear DSR and got any advice they can give. We are up to P6 but are still a bit inconsistent on P5 and after all this endless prog we get random deaths in P2 which just slows down prog completely for P6.
Has anyone run into this situation after 3 months of constant prog on this fight and if so how did you deal with it.

Emet explains that white robes are only given to Elidibus and "retired" Ancients because they serve as impartial advisors and mediators, and that's basically the only role they can serve because they finished their previous purpose (except Elidibus because that's their assigned purpose).

No, Ascians don't want imbalance. Calamities aren't done for the sake pf causing imbalance, that's just a necessary evil that they have to fix afterwards. Mitron and Loghrif didn't want a Flood which is why they wanted Ardbert to kill Cylva and be denied a crystal of light. They wanted just enough light to slowly drift the balance in light's favor. But Ardbert got his crystal and nuked them and it went haywire. Elidibus was panicking during HW trying to stop the Flood before it turned into another Void.
They wanted to be tilted toward light, but not totally consumed. To do a rejoining they need it to sit on the brink until they can arrange a disaster on the Source of the same elemental aspect. Tilting it to the point of a flood is how the Void was created. The world can't be rejoined at that point.
they need to do it in a very controlled manner. The poison the empire was making existed to turn the source more light aspected so it could accept the light from the 1st. If they just blasted it with light without preparing for it they'd get a light version of the void instead

The personal hub is something that all mmo's could really make awesome but they never implement it right. If they want to make it a big time sink or something I think it would be more dopamantic to have mats for your farm drop in for example, dungeons (max level ones probably), in the field, buying/trading certain ones ect. dont make it impact anything game breaking of course just like one big glamour collection/side money maker. WoW's garrison could of and was almost that. people might complain but as long as with each patch you sprinkle some content into it, should be fine.

I've given up hope being done before 6.2. We only reached Double Dragons two weeks ago and we're still fricking up P3 the odd pull, and P5 isn't entirely consistent yet for Death of the Heavens.
Last two phases are a minute too long each. At least last phase doesn't look rough mechanically, but P6 is going to be a pain getting positionings down.
P6 is the hardest phase of the fight hands down, expect it to be the lions share of the learning.
It sucks because P3 was time consuming as frick to get down to a 90% clear rate. One damage down 50% into the phase is still enough to make things shaky for my group even with everyone potting it....and then having the the affected player suicide+rez after because frick the devs for debuffs that are worse than being weakened. It's A3S Digititis all over again.
Yeah, both phases are static killers. I think legit like 2-3 of the statics I was helping broke apart because nidhogg towers just made everyone fight.
It's a draining ultimate for sure atm, but it should be nice when a clear finally happens, just one more phase on my end :(, good luck on your p6 prog, it was CBT tier with my group pushing it.
5/8th of my group has been through the past three ults, clearing them within their respective expac. We have made use of new pots/dungeon gear as it comes though, but all it does is just give us perhaps an extra 1%-enrage leeway if shit isn't 100% clean, which I rarely see anyways. We're either 5-8% behind on last phase, or it's dead mid-enrage showcase.
Watched a couple friend groups tackle UWU last expac and it was fricking sad what happened to that fight with the ShB job changes. Pretty much no healer or dps checks at all.
In terms of mechanics it isn't that bad, Wrothflame is the worst of it. It's just so strict and so late in the fight, one little mistake can wipe it. In terms of actual difficulty on its own though, I'd put it on par with P2. P5 is a bit harder in my opinion.
Thats the issue, it's mostly hard since something like Wroth is where most ultimates have their victory lap phase. The movement and attention needed on it IMO are more than WOTH or DOTH. Just progging the mech takes so long that it devours static time so you just hope everyone gets the hang of it and studies.
At least Wroth movement you can practice in the simulator so you don't need to trudge through 12.5 minutes every time just to try it again. Thank god for that.

Yeah, we have a static line-up for Dooms so the outsides are guaranteed their set spot, and also having the E/W dooms bait out their tether so there's no adjusting on their end for that.
It's mostly just spotting the safe direction to look at, and people not getting disoriented since there's not that much time to get tightly squeezed around the center ring.
just make the doom bait look for that shit if possible since they do the same 2 spots every time anyways

Yeah, we're using a similar setup, just northside placement rather than south. Fixes the problem of the older strats prog groups used which involved some clock counting. The devs are still dicks for putting two twister gotchas in that phase though, but at least the timing for dodging them on Death of the Heavens is consistent (just move when everyone gets hit by their lightning aoes).

I'll have to give it a look. We don't have any real issues with that after realizing the people chosen for the puddle sets is split between those that got tethers/blue-marker/divebomb-marker, and the rest.

It's the only way they know how to create 'difficulty' in an encounter. Anything too random/figure-it-on-the-fly and people will start preferring some jobs over others for better upkeep, which the devs absolutely so not want with how badly they cling to hard enrage timers on fight design.

Fully random mechanics are dull and easy to deal with unless you crank them up to the point people wipe more to bad rng than improper execution.
Rigid scripting allows for more satisfying mechanic execution while still throwing in adjustable variables for a good measure.
If you find that kind of raiding too easy then ditch the guides and form a blind prog static so you can solve those puzzles yourself.

DSU already has some really annoying "stop hitting the boss or we'll push the phase change too fast" parts which seem to be a big part of the WoW(?) style raids.

Coils of bahamut unreal is what we're working towards.
They're already reworking a bunch of old trials and dungeons, surely redoing Coils wouldn't be out of question either. The last turns of each Coil should be saved since they're pretty solid, although you probably have to tone down the difficulty a bit, but a lot of the others could be turned into solo instances with Alisaie/the twins.

No, Ascians don't want imbalance. Calamities aren't done for the sake pf causing imbalance, that's just a necessary evil that they have to fix afterwards. Mitron and Loghrif didn't want a Flood which is why they wanted Ardbert to kill Cylva and be denied a crystal of light. They wanted just enough light to slowly drift the balance in light's favor. But Ardbert got his crystal and nuked them and it went haywire. Elidibus was panicking during HW trying to stop the Flood before it turned into another Void.

They wanted to be tilted toward light, but not totally consumed. To do a rejoining they need it to sit on the brink until they can arrange a disaster on the Source of the same elemental aspect. they need to do it in a very controlled manner. The poison the empire was making existed to turn the source more light aspected so it could accept the light from the 1st. If they just blasted it with light without preparing for it they'd get a light version of the void instead

The personal hub is something that all mmo's could really make awesome but they never implement it right. If they want to make it a big time sink or something I think it would be more dopamantic to have mats for your farm drop in for example, dungeons (max level ones probably), in the field, buying/trading certain ones ect. dont make it impact anything game breaking of course just like one big glamour collection/side money maker. WoW's garrison could of and was almost that. people might complain but as long as with each patch you sprinkle some content into it, should be fine.
