>FFXIV the most successful and popular MMO
>ESO continues to chug along getting constant updates
>SWTOR future-proofing with a move to 64-bit servers and using Amazon web services for the game servers
>WoW crashing and burning. Employees leaving in droves
Didn't see that coming
Literally the only reason wow sucks is because its controlled by woke strippers. If the people at scrolls of lore were directing the game it would be 1 million times better
>If it had good people working for it then it would be good ok?
Incredible analysis anon
The moment they forcefully ended the war in such a sissy way, WoW became unsalvageable. At this point it'd be better to do away with the story and worldbuilding and just make it a mythic simulator. Not that the only people who are still mazed would notice
notice how OP completely ignores Wizards101, the unkillable
Also didn't mention Runescape.
Same reason for both: they are eternal and cannot die, therefor mentioning them is pointless.
anybody knows where I can learn how to rip emotes from other games and make the ffxiv emotes? I found a few tools but maybe there are actual tutorials I haven't really found any guides either yet
WoW is owned by the same company that shits out CoD every year
Whether or not you like it, its zombified corpse will be marched around for another decade to milk money from people still holding on
>I will forever be entertained by WoW's shambling corpse and the butthurt mazedbucks that defend it
Sounds great. Can't wait to see the next wowhomosexual disaster.
>tfw will get to see old man asmongold getting his oxygen tank blown up while playing shadowlands classic
what a thrill
also reinstalled eso last week again and it's so fricking boring I just can't. I don't know what it is about that game but the combat and the menus and like something just ruins the fun the moment you log in oh and ugliest character creator of all mmos
The game was made to appeal to Skyrim bandwagoners
Of course it's braindead
Well that's one way to see it
It's still a cashcow even at its low so they'll milk it for what they can until it's unrecognizable
It's the combat.
The questing and exploring is entertaining enough, especially for an MMO, but the combat is legitimately fricking awful.
It's clunky, unimpactful, and you barely get any abilities, and all that is made even worse by the game scaling everything so you never feel like you're getting stronger.
The league mmo will be the nail in the coffin of wow.
Lmao no it won't. MMOs fricking die if their community is shit, and there's no game around right now with a shittier community than LoL. And I say this as someone that wants to see WoW die.
LoL is just hyper competitive and people get emotional. Who cares. FFXIV has a way worse community with how fricking cringe they can be. A bunch of turbo geeked out weebs, trannies and pedophiles. Frick that game it’s a stain on the series.
you know the longer I've been waiting for the more I start to doubt it. On one hand I think so too on the other hand I think people are getting really fricking burned out by league especially with how dissapointing the latest video was and how it's been in maintnance mode for half a decade basically with literally no events. Their other games are meh at best too. It has potential no doubt but god damn they better not frick it up otherwise we really will be stuck with ffxiv forever and I would rather have an mmo with action combat at this point...
>and I would rather have an mmo with action combat at this point...
go play lost ark?
The Unsinkable TORtanic
>ffxiv troon delusional headcanon
Many such cases. Ffxiv is dead and irrelevant after the fomo wave and after all wow players abandoned it.
Cope wowbucks, you get raped every day
I haven’t played in like 2 years but I’d still sooner revisit WoW than cutscene simulator fetch quest bonanza 14.
Why does barry make posts like this when he could just enjoy WoW and ignore ffxiv? WoW isnt going to shut down any time soon... it doesnt matter that xiv is more popular, and even if it did, shitposting on Ganker of all places isnt going to make people quit it for WoW...
FFXIV mindbroke him, his soul and penis have been destroyed
Autism is a hell of a drug
Take your meds
I think the lore is that Barry uses WoW as a hammer to try and hit FFXIV with since he's more mad about people saying FFXIV is the only good nu-FF because his favourite game is FFXV
Even /wowg/ doesn't put up with his schizoposting
mental illness pretty much
pretty funny to see WoW get more bad news and suddenly shitposting about XIV intensifies
Wow lives rent free in 14 trannies heads, classic servers alone are bigger than your shitstain of an instance gw1 sim.
troony XIV will never be as successful and popular as WoW. XIV will always have garbage design.
>play swtor
>stuck at 7/8 class story completion because trooper is so boring
>play swtor
>want to play through the stories because it's fun
>the combat is the most mind-numbingly boring shit imaginable so I haven't ever finished a single class story
God, SWTOR would be so fricking great if the combat was more interesting.
> FFXIV the most successful and popular MMO
I love this meme.
Show us active subs instead of "2 mirrionsu accountsu cureatedu arigato gozaimasu"
I am a xiv homosexual that played probably 13 years of wow and even I think that if you would go on the street to ask people to name an mmo still more than 90% would say wow or runescape
Of course they would. WoW was one of the biggest video game phenomenons ever, forget about the MMO genre which nothing will probably ever be able to match its peak. WoW is one of the greatest games ever made, XIV Black folk have been coping for years wishing it could even come close to WoW status. Nothing will ever come close to WoW, maybe next century. The desperation will never not be cringe from them.
>WoW is one of the greatest games ever made
Kek popularity doesn't equate to quality shit for brains. The WoW elements of xiv are the worst thing about it.
Classic WoW is easily in the top 5 games of all time.
Might make an argument it's no.1 for the simple fact people keep going back to it, shit just won't die.
Any particular reason why you don't want to talk about retail?
last time I played XIV at the end of shadowbringers, one of the most populated datacenters legitimately had 10-20 groups for content in the party finder at peak hours
the game is not anywhere near as popular as the playerbase would have you believe. A huge amount of players resubs, does the MSQ, then unsubs again. It's borderline a singleplayer game.
It attracts millions of players to go through the story and then they leave. The reason to stay subbed constantly to play is very limited and its mostly just people who play mmo's as their job. The game feels dead and non popular but its because the unsub for months meme actually happens and most people just play the last .5 patch and the new launch and then frick off for a year
Most people like me don't even resub for patches, just expansions.
I didn't even resub for EW because I heard it was terrible and I didn't like Shadowbringers, which everyone liked.
Game just feels like a half-baked single player FF game, but with terrible gameplay and a good 60% of it just being filler and fetch quests.
>FFXIV the most successful and popular MMO
Classic WoW and even fricking Runescape are bigger than FFXIV right now.
Shitty weeb MMO hit it's peak at Shadowbringers when BFA was dogshit.
>even fricking Runescape
Look at you, talking as if RS hasn't been mogging all the other MMORPGs for years at this point in terms of population. You need to start looking outside of this bubble you've made for yourself.
cope
>ESO continues to chug along getting constant updates
GW2 is better in that regard. They even upgraded from dx9 to dx11 to be futureproof.
Didn't FF14 lose nearly half it's active playerbase since the expansion dropped many consider dogshit as well down to 600-700k global? Also at it's peak it barely had 1/10th the active player base WoW had? Calling it most succesful or popular is a joke. It's basically just a glorified second life for troons and homosexuals.
WoW never had 11 million players. The number was fake because chinese players had to buy HOURLY gametime back in wotlk and eveyr hour was considered one sub. Like the amount of servers WoW had back then could in no way hold that amount of players and the servers werent that full so the sub count of 11 million would have never even made logically sense. I played during then and it was just blizzard blowing their own numbers to the roof
Correct! They stopped publishing numbers at the exact same time as their contract with their Chinese publisher at the time ending.
Yes of course they dont count the subbed account but each 1 hour game time purchase kek. I hate WoW but it was that massive back in 2010 with nearly 12 mil subs globally. Afterall Nostalrius had around 1 million players at its peak and that was an unofficial english server.
Dunno i saw it halved on lucky bancho now compared to a month post release. All my friends that still played told me its basically an even worse written stormblood with Zenos as a villain again and quit. I quit at start of SB myself. HW was ok and what FF14 is currently cant even be called a game, but a chatbox.
>Dunno i saw it halved on lucky bancho now compared to a month post release
That never happened so I'm inclined to say you're either mistaken or lying, and given where we are I'm leaning towards lying
I just explained to you how the 11-12 million number would literally logistically make no sense with the amount of servers, queues etc. If you played back then and you compare that number to games nowadays there is 0 chance it was real and people have known about hourly gametime being count as sub for decade
Latest census shows that the population actually went up in the past year. Which given how fricking awful the post-patch MSQ and additions to the game have been, I just don't understand.
I really hope the island isn't seen as a success, it's barely interactive.
>lost players
This comes around every expansion for every MMO. There is a massive swell on release, and then a gradual ebb afterwards. Half is hyperbole, but it was a larger number than any other expansion because there were simple more players than any other expansion. The % will be similar.
With the exception of Dragonflight, where no one returned.
>SWTOR
How's SWTOR in 2023?
the most successful and popular MMO
FFXIV in it's prime had around 900k~ active characters not subs.
WoW in it's prime had 12 million active subs
mmorpgs are fricking dead. Only P99 or XI is worthwhile.
>Didn't see that coming
The only thing that I didn't see coming is that ESO and SWTOR are still around. I figured SWTOR was done for when it went F2P as that is usually the death knell for MMOs. Anyone who didn't see WoW crashing and burning wasn't paying enough attention. WoW had been cycling between expansions that were absolute dumpster fires and ones that were varying levels of tolerable. It was pretty obvious that if their coin flip were to ever fail and they had two flops in a row that it was going to be devastating for the game. The game can survive two years of being awful if the in-between years were better. 4 years of trash is a lot harder to survive.
The lawsuit on top of it all could not have been timed worse for Blizzard. The BFA/Shadowlands era was already going to go down as the worst time in WoW's history until they got fricking curbstomped into oblivion by it. Before, when WoW was bad the result was just the ineffectual seething of WoW players that refused to quit but nobody else really cared. Once that happened though, outsiders and media types all piled on and ensured that WoW and Blizzard would both be so damaged that they would no longer be recognizable.
Xiv is dead as frick lmao
What is this cope post
>he doesn't understand how this works
Making everyone look dumb here
>parses go down when the difficulty goes up
What the frick was his problem? Killing his sister-wife really made him insane? Or did he just have a hate-boner for mankind?
>most popular
LMFAO. It has less players than classic let alone retail
Game is dead as it can be
LOTRO and DCUO are still alive
xiv has 1.2M endgame players as of march, according to this site which scrapes Lodestone info
Still low compared to the late 00s. That are characters not subs. And I know more than enough people that have more than one 90s characters and doing endgame stuff.
>And I know more than enough people that have more than one 90s characters and doing endgame stuff.
Do you really? I know one person with a raid alt and it hasn't been used since the first few weeks of the 6.2. Even among hardcore raiders it seems pretty rare to take an alt through the whole story.
Alts are already reactivating for 6.4. After the P8S fiasco most week 1 groups are doing splits.
least insane WoW player
