Hey, this FSR shit works. I got a free 2500 points on the benchmark rendering it at 1080p, 75% 3D rendering resolution since I use a 1440p monitor, and I noticed basically no graphical difference compared to running it at native res while getting much higher and steadier framerates.

What I noticed is that lips and eyeliner get darker if they’re in the shadows, so I think that’s what’s throwing people off. Like in the 7.0 one you can see how the lips are shaded by the way the light hits it. Left is 1.0.

However, after years of playing the game, I finally used my ARR fanta, and I used it so that my limbals would be the same color as my eyes. I used my ARR fanta to change my eye color slightly lighter, and my limbal color also slightly lighter, because the end result is that the eye color seamlessly blends into the limbal color, which makes my character's eyes look like they have a bit of a "highlight" without having an obvious limbal. I used my ARR fanta specifically for this one purpose and for nothing else
The 7.0 benchmark changes both the color of my eyes and the color of the limbal, so that the limbal is an ugly orange color while the eye is a darker yellow than it is in 6.58. My character, for the most part, does look better, but my eyes are completely and exactly ruined. The only reason I used my ARR fanta has been completely and totally undone by the graphics update
(skin color, face, hair, etc have all been changed are are not what my character look like - this was done because the focus is on the eyes color)

Not the point. First off, I haven't been able to find an eye color in the same "vicinity" as this that seamlessly blends into a matching limbal color. I haven't even been able to find one that does this in all lighting. It seems that with the 7.0 update, their purpose has been to increase the prominence of the limbals, meaning for one to be able to blend seamlessly into the eye color is antithetical to the new graphics update. I've given up trying. I will have to use Anamnesis when 7.0 goes live in order to test the eye colors out in game, in real time, in order to attempt to find one that matches how my eyes look in 6.58. I am not hopeful that there is a solution
Second, I shouldn't need to use a fanta to undo a change that I so exactly already fixed. The only thing I changed with my ARR fanta was my eye and limbal color. That's the only thing I changed. I shouldn't need to use my 2nd free fanta to fix it back. They should just be the same color that they already are. Why make the limbals darker in the first place? Why? What's the point? Why fundamentally change the color of the limbals at all?

I am also a boomer. Even in the MapleStory GL beta you could customize your appearance with the same 3 or so options. Imagine if you logged into beta GL MapleStory on your level 40 character (which was considered a very high level at the time) and now you had Eyes #2 instead of Eyes #1. That's what happened to me. Also, even PSO let you customize (and recustomize) your appearance with actually a really good amount of options considering the time it came out. So I don't really know what game you're talking about

Foray/exploration zone means Eureka or Bozja, big open regions with FATEs you run around and grind for a separate EXP/leveling system and additional subsystems called Logos Actions and Lost Actions.

The WoW graphics update looks fine. The fricked up part about nuWoW is that the animations are completely different. I originally quit in WotLK. At some point before I started playing XIV, I reupped my WoW sub and downloaded the newest expansion. I pretty much immediately quit when I started spell casting and the old animations were completely fricking gone. I just couldn't handle it. I've never even thought about playing WoW since then

The combat isn't tactile at all, the xpac classes really dumbed things down to be super generic and railroady. Go compare base engineer to the xpac skills, and it's a completely different class in terms of complexity.
WoW still has by far the most complex classes and raids. GW2 raids are more like movement checks that wipe the fight if you frick up, which isn't fun.

i thought the mnk alternating 123 was kinda hard to keep up with until i learned about the buff splitting options
you can organize your buffs/debuffs in such a way that each forms maintenance thing is clearly visible in a different part of your screen so you can just quickly double check in your peripheral if you need to do the upkeep gcd or the damage gcd for each form
makes it way easier than actually trying to constantly juggle what youre supposed to be doing by memory
I do that too, also extremely helpful for tanking to know when defensive or Reprisal are going to fall off

Curious how people always put the 7.0 characters in complete shadow to show how bad they look now, deliberately choosing thee worst light angle they can find, but they never post the worst light angle possible in the current game. You know, when your character looks like a fricking rapist when there's a bright light immediately above your character casting very harsh shadows all over the face. No one uses pictures of that. I wonder why.
There was even a face 4 femra before who admitted that they were on team "they fricked up my character" when looking at their character on the fricking character creator but said that they realized it was mostly bad lighting once they actually saw the character moving in the actual benchmark.
This shit is mostly a case of sub-80 IQ morons that don't understand how lighting works
that lightning only exists is old content like ARR dungeons. they did touch up Prae's lightning so it doesn't look so bad but the ending cutscene of Wanderer's Palace Hard still has that classic horrible lightning for example

funniest shit is when the cutscene where Thordan dies while getting spooked by you, for some reason it renders your face like it's 1.0
the only "complete shadow" in the benchmark is the character being under the shade of trees, where lacking the realistic reflection of the eyes many characters have dead fish eyes.

As an actual poorgay I shudder to think what they were trying it on considering my specs are basically the PS4 equivalent and it put me in Standard at 1080p with the settings I use in the game now imported which are mostly high save for Shadows.
tldr: It's actually very forgiving for a graphical update and the upscalers are implemented pretty well.
the game continued to run on PS3 strength potatos because its very well optimized on PC and a lot of people use this game as a social platform and don't play other games, so they've had no reason to upgrade until now
I thought the update would hit me hard but I can still score very high with settings set to high instead of max. Playing with a 6700K and 980Ti. I still have time for an actual upgrade. I would have to test my CPU in-game for objects rendering since that's my main bottleneck. I OCed to 4.4ghz and hope that will help mitigate the frame drops in cities a little bit

It is not, run the actual benchmark with your character to see like 99% of the graphics improvements. The character creator is an extremely odd blend of 2.X lighting/shaders from the game client and 7.0 character models
benchmark was whatever, fem Hroth have the worst case of "Only 2 angles look good" I have ever seen. The thing that really deflates my motivations is that I absolutely despise out parts for the MSQ. Krile, Wuk, Twins and the bunny boy do nothing for me and just seem annoying.
