I've been playing XIV for the past year and if there's anything I've learned it's that this community is sensitive as frick.
Any criticism at all no matter how small is perceived as a personal attack.
This is how far gone these people are. Most of them are immature to that extent. It also makes sense when you take into account a lot of players are actual women. Not all of them are pretending to be women online, some actually are.
I've only played as a male Hyur and tried to frick around but you never get a tell if you are a seemingly normal person. The freak show attracts it's own kind.

One of the last straws for me was when I got screeched at in chat for taking my dancer partner off of a dragoon who didn't use his buffs (no litany, dragon sight, sparingly used Lance Charge) nor could follow a rotation, which is just clicking the yellow border glowy buttons, in Puppet's Bunker. The main point driven was that he is new, and that it is only a 24 man, not savage.
Like duh, I know it doesn't matter, that's why I just buff random people depending on whether I like their job choice or glam. How hard is it to learn to press your "I want big numbers" buttons before you go for the big numbers? DRGs get those skills at like lvl 35, 52, and 64ish, and he is at least lvl 80. There has to be a void of thought in these players' heads, and they are constantly defended. This is by far not the worst argument I have had with the coddlers and enablers, nor the worst experience I have been villified, but it is one of the ones that caused to take my current sabbatical.

I agree. I have been sent to the Mordion Gaol before because someone complained about me being overly critical about this dumbass SMN in Zurvan EX who could not go to his spot. Soar was not being skipped for reasons, but whatever it's not a hard mech, just go to your assigned spot and run to the middle after he drops his shit. SMN, who was supposed to be south, always miraculously ended up near me at NW, so I had to adjust and kill myself by stepping into Zurvan's path, or take both of us out. I knew the ToS is weaponized even back then so I never commanded him, never chastised nor insulted him. I always suggested things, or asked if he needed clarification, is his mininap locked so he doesn't get lost. Some people got upset with me picking on him, but we evidently already have low deeps and we don't need more setbacks with healer mp and rez weaknesses. Eventually I decided that there isn't gonna be any improvement and peacefully left, said no parting shots, but apologized for the trouble and thanked them for the group. Shortly after, I ended up in the GM jail. They had reported me and said that I had bought the SMN to tears with the constant nagging and that when I left, I had shown that I gave up on them. Thankfully, I take hella screenshots when other players come at me, and managed to talk my way out of it without a strike on my account. Hard to pin me if I never said anything worth penalizing and used my manners. I wonder if I would've gotten away with it today.
You would have gotten away with it without screenshots too. I was in a similar situation, you and I got reported by several people at once (in your case the friends of the homosexual SMN of course) so when a GM gets a bunch of reports at once they make a personal checkup, so to speak. They simply test you in the Gaol for a couple of minutes, observing your behavior, and then let you go unless the other side has solid proof of your misdeeds. You will never, ever get banned for "hurting someones feelings", I promise you that. t. someone who regularly calls people out in a very hostile but still safe manner and got interviewed by a GM at least a dozen times

The game's community is pure cancer. I had a free cure fishing white mage some time back in my group, I called him out and told him not to do that, as its objectively bad and bleeding him of MP, and immediately got screetched at to let people play how they want to.
He was level 90. This is just one instance of many where I see someone doing something horribly wrong and either adjust my own gameplay to compensate or let them know what they are doing wrong, and get blasted for it.

It blows my mind how incorrectly people play healers. From zero dps healers, freecure fishers, to tanks getting upset with me for not healing on my SCH. I can only assume they are mad because they aren't able to see me casting heals, like actually casting Adlo and stuff with a cast bar under my name on the party list. All they see is me slapping the ground repeatedly, yet ignore all the green words and numbers constantly flowing on them. I'm getting b***hed at while I am looking at their health at 70ish percent wondering if that Recited Excog is actually gonna matter.

A sprout healer cure fishing is 90% because a wow refugee told them, “you need to use this optimal rotation or you suck” the sooner you people quit the better.

I stopped playing and unsubbed one day after getting the Seat of Sacrifice mount because I realized most of the farms in ffxiv are completely pointless. Nothing changes, nothing evolves, you just pick the class that plays like every other class in its role and run the treadmill for glorified Fortnite skins.
If you want a game that leans on its story like a VN then go for it, but if you want a robust game then the pattern recognition machine that is FFXIV is hard to recommend unless you have played nearly every single ff and get off on fanservice.

I should have split that up more. I was saying that fates/etc. Were all the same flavor of mob hunting. The 1st 3 were to point out that there isn't much to do in the overworld, which is fine until you realize that you have no reason to go back to 80% of the areas unless your treasure maps take you there. You have to go out of your way to afk or walk around doing nothing but maybe FATEs in comfy areas like Raktika or the Steppe. The Shroud and Limsa both have exclusive things that you can't do in some way shape or form anywhere else, so why did that just stop after ARR?

I loved every second of it, but hit a brick wall at endgame when I got a few transmogs I wanted.
EW was a downgrade and ShB was only carried by the Ascian plot. They keep dumbing down and nuking animations so jobs turn stagnant. The game is making SE too much money for them to put it on life support while they work on another MMO (probably not a worthy investment this day and age anyway)
I started playing again after a long hiatus (Stopped playing right before Snowcloak when Stormblood got announced because life was crazy), and the differences between now and 7 years ago is staggering. WHM for example used to be extremely satisfying because having to mentally switch stances and manage your healing output was involved and fun. Now it's just heal, stronger heal, dot, stunlock/glare. Same thing with what happened to BLM after 6.0 when they took away the work needed to be effective in that class. People called the old stuff bloat, but there was a sense of satisfaction in doing well as your class. Now it's impossible to consistently frick it up unless you're a Sage or Machinist.

His MSQ videos are between 20k and 70k average with the big moments having around 100k.
His post MSQ videos about FF tank comparatively and none break the 10k barrier.

MSQ is the main draw. After that they drop off hard. The only one who hasn't is Preach since he can be really entertaining and do events.

I've watched a good bit of Preach playing 14 and the dude seems to generally love the game and the community. My main issue about FFXIV is the complete and utter lack of customization. If you play a Black Mage well at level 90 you'll have the exact same skill as the other Black Mage and if you have the same gear you'll have the exact same stats too.

Preach watches plays and shit, hosts glam contests, and give good play-by-play for raids. Plus he is a decent player in his own right.

I sub for the PVP in XIV. The revamped actions are really good. If they can translate that into PVE, XIV would be more fun. Level 90 rotations are boring as hell. You have way too many buttons that do the exact same fricking thing. 123 combos being deleted would be a good start.

The nose gambler was streaming FFXI a while back, unfortunately nothing is safe because these people thrife off new content to consume. That means they need to search every nook and cranny for anything they can milk, it'll happen eventually. The only way to filter normalBlack folk is if the devs openly endorse a community that wants to gatekeep, FFXIV is ultimately owned by boomer jap israelites that want money at any expense and the end result is a game with no store is now filled to the brim with store items. Every server is connected to promote ease of access and the game is slowly becoming automated. You won't even need to talk to other players soon and that's when it'll really get bad because when the community no longer relies on itself it falls apart.
Highly doubt Asmon would play p99 unless he was REALLY desperate for content. He'd probably get put off immediately by the inherent jank and harshness of being a new player without a guide (aka filtered because he didn't take the right approach)

I think, overall, I like BLM, MNK, SAM and NIN the most.

Yeah paradoxically the main "I AM MAD" point about FFXIV seems to be that it's notoriously unfriendly to poop-sockers. There's still stuff to poop-sock for like Bozja and Eureka but it's not the focus at all and raiding is pointless if you've got your clear for the week.
They need to add a hard mode. Just fricking take the savage fight, copy+paste that shit with (Hard) on it, add some aoe markers, make some math changes, and decide whether it should be vuln stacks, damage downs, or both. Having like 10% of the player base at most doing savage and nobody else is shit, so dragging the scaredy cats into hard mode to show them they don't need to be gigantic pussies could be fun and would probably increase the amount of savage raiders as well. I don't even know why they haven't done this shit yet, learning brand new fights on "You die in 1 hit mode" is horseshit and goes opposite of the other 95% of the game. Imagine booting up a brand new DMC game and putting it on 1 hit and you die mode for your first playthrough, shit would be miserable but it's the same fricking concept as savage blind.
Just make the rewards shit like orchestrations and the 1 savage book guaranteed drop, then the feeble people who can somehow clear Hard but not Savage can grind a couple months to get their own gear upgrades / glamours. It's a win-win, more people doing endgame.

EX trials are the midcore content you're thinking of, Savage is elective by design. You can gear with it but it's not the only gearing source. People legitimately don't do it because they don't want to.
Unknown, it's supposedly harder 4-man content last I recall. It'll be nice to see harder 4-man content since "(Hard)" dungeons were never actually harder, just remixes of previous ones.
I get that medium difficulty being EX trials is fine but learning literal brand new fights in savage, like fricking P3S as a perfect example with it's 20 new mechanics, is some pants on head moronic shit. I want to do savage blind and nobody else does so it's "Oh fricking well I guess" so if I can convince some homiehs to go do Hard mode blind, where it's a bit more "fair" with the information of what's happening, and then go do savage after everything would be pretty fricking primo for me.
The only people who get that proper savage blind experience are streamers or the literal pros world firsters and that shit sucks, I think there was "Watch a video" P1S Party listings by day 2 of savage release for god's sake.

I used to boost some high up blizzard employees back in MoP, it's something they've been ok with for a while, they'd give out alpha keys to the entire guild to avoid having to pay money for it too. They did a lot of shady things with their friends and family alpha keys, a lot got sold in game for gigantic amounts of gold back during TBC and WotLK which let them buy out everything on the server in the new expacs to boost their guilds progression and to block others.
I raided under another high level blizz employee for a while in TBC and he had us use every exploit he knew from his job and protected us from getting banned. We killed Gruul without shatter, bugged out Nightbane by killing him on the roof and having no air phases, and had players log out on reliquary of souls right before the max mana reduction aura went out because that was a debuff that was applied to characters in the area and you could log back in after it went out and not have to worry about it. That typically involved people logging onto a shaman alt they paid to have boosted to Bloodlust then logging back in, so it was very efficient.
