Playing the demo now. It's a hack and slash with cutscenes pretty much. Levels are just flat bumps across the board. Abilities are always resettable, so not choices as to what your character is.
Doesn't look like casting will be a thing, no black mage potential here.
As for the hack-and-slash itself, it's pretty boring. First boss is just an hp sponge with long telegraphs. Dodge and counter to remove more stagger. Spam fast attacks before your high damage attacks while staggered to increase multiplier.
Cooldown system, not resources, so pretty much just spam the abilities unless you're close to a window.
Onto the writing etc. It's clearly trying to be GoT, so maybe GoT-enjoyers will like it for that. It's quite poor inherently. Random sexual scenes thrown in for no reason. Plot starts in 1 time, then goes back, and then goes back again. Some strange structuring ideas here.
>Plot starts in 1 time, then goes back, and then goes back again. Some strange structuring ideas here.
How moronic do you have to be to think this is strange.
Starts too slow even by JRPG standards. 2 hours and the game fails to build investment in the characters and plot.
No great adventure, grand goal, or interesting mystery to really hook the player in. Characters have some substance but aren't striking enough to carry the story.
there is plenty of people willing to make them, just for considerably more than the low quality homosexuals they are currently hiring, who are willing to work for peanuts so long as they can include propaganda in the product.
Looks like the schizos were on to something with junctioning and time possession.
You need to read the "Active Time Lore" at Phoenix Gate, it says the dominants can talk to ancestors there. Clive sees this hooded figure after the ff8 style frequency noise splits his head.
If the leaks are to be believed, Dion has a boyfriend. But it's a superficial detail with no plot relevance.
Although there's a lot of theories that Clive is also gay. In that, he gives Jill the cold shoulder and his mother really hates him because he's not going to pass on those Phoenix genes.
Also Dion and Clive might be half-brothers. So the gay dynamic could be written in either of them.
The leaks were discussed sometime last year, along with commentary that Leviathan might not be in the game. If it was a ps1 game, I could see them changing the scenarios at the last minute. Like Dion was supposed to be Leviathan, not Bahamut. But then who would have been Bahamut?
The demo was fun. Compelling characters and story, decent action gameplay. Hate that items are floating orbs instead of treasure chests. All the equipment you find in the demo is boring as frick, and just increases defense and attack by 5 - 10%. Your starting circle of skills is small, and it seems it won't expand at all beyond new Eikons with active abilities.
Magic burst is also inconsistent, and magic should auto-charge to the -ra and -ga tiers, or automatically build up with each magic burst. Now you have to hold down triangle while attacking with square, then let go of it mid-combo to use a magic burst above base level spells.
Why is it really banned in Saudi Arabia?
Do you believe it's gay characters? Or is it Ifrit?
I believe whatever they were asked to change had to have been a prominent part of the story.
I think there are a handful of islamic symbols that might be considered cultural appropriation. There's Ifrit. And some moon and star motifs. But that's a little unfair.
We know there is a moon goddess that Jill prays too. Which Benedikta calls a "false god". Possibly some permutation of St.Ajora. The mural were of Eikons of the past. So there's a hint that Eikons change. But that's were the leaked info feels the weakest. Eikons seem to have a genetic factor, not a "mythos" like FF9's eidolons.
It might also be a matter of integrity. It looks like it's going to be a very politically charged narrative about individual freedoms and social responsibilities. It would look bad if they bend a knee to cultural sensitivities while telling a story where culture is itself an oppressive force.
>Metia >Meteor
In FF14, there was a similar red satelite "moon" called Dalamud. There's a lot of history behind it. It's an ancient construct meant to absorb solar energy for the Crystal tower, it also contained the elder primal Bahamut. It would later be used like a "Meteor".
In FF14 Version 1, the moon weakened the Primals because it absorbed their aether.
Call me a homosexual, but after watching the demo, I didn't get the sense that this is Final Fantasy and more like a Vargrant Story reboot. Even FF Agito felt more FF than this. The writing's just too adult for the wrong reasons. 10 and 13 felt like decent enough sweetspots with the maturity, though they do suffer from some really corny melodramatic moments that it's almost cartoonish.
Presumably the Moon Goddess in XVI is Greagor. The goddess statue in the demo.
Although I'm willing to bet Greagor was just a legendary dominant of Leviathan. That probably caused a great flood or tidal wave in the distant past.
Possibly the same figure on Sanbreque's banner. The Emperor is believed to be an incarnation of the "true god".
Benedikta refers to the statue in the chapel a false god, however.
These idiots have been spamming this meme for a year. This board has no jannies, so nothing is done. You can click on a random thread on this board and find several posts like this.

Keep calling the truth as "trolling". You braindead frickwits literally know that trash is a corridor moviegame like any other console goyslop. It's not even a good action game.
>dude i have totally not been repeating "not an rpg" for the past year
Schizo meds, immediately. You're not funny. You're just following a shitposting trend. NPC, sheep. You name it.
I post "not an RPG" in threads on /vrpg/ which aren't about RPGs. It's neither shitposting nor is it a meme.
This is a board for discussing RPGs. Go back to Ganker if you want to discuss random AAA games.
And in those moments they mysteriously disappear. Like the "False Narrative" thread last month? You think those "RPG Maker" jam threads are actually making RPGs? No! Visual Novels and CYOA ""games""? No. The frog posters that only want to talk about themselves or fandoms. No.

Cry to the Mods about it then only to immediately learn they donmt care and you promptly stop using the board forever or have a nice day. You lost.

It means you can identify the "not rpg" spammers by deductive reasoning.
There is a question of how they can instantly recognize Ifrit as an Eikon. Allegedly Barnabus (Odin) will transform someone into Sleipnir, his 8 legged horse. Possibly this guy.
Idk if that makes Sleipnir a Eikon as well?
Or Benedikta's "sisters" you fight in the other half of the demo.
I'm honestly interested in this, but I ain't buying a PS5 for it when the pro will probably come out in like a year, and the only other exclusive is the demon's souls remake.
A shame I'll probably be spoilered on any important plot twists before the PC release.
n-no
i'd feel bad borrowing someone's console for the 100s of hours it will probably take to finish the game anyway (assuming this isn't another xv situation)
Something I've really enjoyed about the world building in 16 that I don't remember seeing being done in any other game, is the integration of magic in every day life. Makes the world feel much more real seeing them fill cups and wells with water magic, lighting candles/pipes with fire magic or how the servants were trimming/shaping the bushes using wind magic. I hope there is a lot more of similar stuff in the full release.
When they said action rpg I was thinking cool, maybe dragons dogma or witcher 3 style, simple but sufficiently satisfying real time combat. FF16 is instead a combo simulator like devil may cry where you zoom around the battlefield and stay in the air for 10 hit combos. I love devil may cry but I don't think that kind of goofy combo for combos sake fits for FF16 thematically.
Good question. I couldn't tell from the demo. Because there's limited encounters and you basically leveled up twice. But I know the pre-orders come with a EXP bonus accessory, so I think not?
finally a real FF game on 360
Oh you~

Not a rpg
And to think that FF used to be ahead of the curve. They’re reduced to making a bad God of War/Shadow of the Colossus clone and almost 20 years late.
industry brain drain because anyone who could have potentially been new blood is too busy being addicted to video games to ever break into making them
there is plenty of people willing to make them, just for considerably more than the low quality homosexuals they are currently hiring, who are willing to work for peanuts so long as they can include propaganda in the product.
Nope you are wrong here. Incorrect, sad.
You are very correct.
You are laughably wrong. Go back.
>1-upping your own posts
Sad. Many such cases.
It's an action game, not an RPG. Even the director says so himself. Take your Yoshitpiss crap elsewhere, tourist homosexual.
This was the best FF Demo Ever.
Let the ineffectual seeth.
You can tell they've only watch video footage.
>seeth
Is this MMO IQ?
>Let the ineffectual seeth·e
That wasn't very considerate of your disability, was it? You deserve an apology.
Are you a pajeet shill?

JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY, this game is epic.
Just finished the demo.
4 crystas has been deposited to your accounts. Keep up the good work, glory to Yoshitpiss!
tyler, wade, murdock bros...
Guys I just beat this game and it is literally mind blowing. Holy shit. This is the best FF game of all time
Why is it really banned in Saudi Arabia?

If you've played the Eikonic Challenge there's treasure chests in that.
The whole game should have been young Clive
Y/N?
no.

Active Time Lore
I forgot to screenshot it. But the name of the red star is Metia. Supposedly a "messenger" to the moon (and beyond)
In FF15, the gods also had messengers like the dogs and Gentiana.
Torgal is must have similar psychic abilities. As Clive is watching Ifrit attack the Phoenix through Torgal's (color blind) eyes.
>Metia
>Meteor

You say this like it's a bad thing
The only bad thing about it is associating with itself with FF.
So, what's FF?
Crystal Chronicles.
Welp, it's legacy ends now ¯(ツ)/¯.
The name Dalamud, is also "Menphina's Hound", among other myths.
That's an Ice goddess of the moon, in FF14
Presumably the Moon Goddess in XVI is Greagor. The goddess statue in the demo.

It doesn't belong on this board. After playing the demo I can say with certainty that it isn't an RPG. It's an alright action game though.
Your certificate of moronation should come in the mail in 2-4 weeks.

its not the same guy though, theres a troll who spams not an rpg, but also there are really moments when some games are just not rpgs

In other words, you're a bitter poorgay that's stuck on rpgs from 20 years ago.
It might interest you to know that FF17 might return to the 2D Pixel art style.
GTFO with your goyslop chinese DMC.
My only opinion is that Final fantazy is defined partily by how it uses the summons
In terms of narrative or gameplay. It looks like dominants have some "blessing" they can bestow on people.
There is a question of how they can instantly recognize Ifrit as an Eikon. Allegedly Barnabus (Odin) will transform someone into Sleipnir, his 8 legged horse. Possibly this guy.

Well then get some that have the console, dammit! Borrow the SHIT out of their hospitality. S'what I do only when they're cool with it.
Calling it now before the game is completely out, the Church is going to be evil.
There is apparently multiple religions.
Sure thing. Doesn't change the fact that the Church is going to be evil anyway.
So Benedikta just whoring herself out for benefits ?
She is a woman.
Femcoomer.

It the same stagger system every FF game in the past 10 years has had.
>Lightning Returns was 10 years ago.
>The Eikon power sets are just Schemata
Technically Type-0 didn't have "stagger" it was "killsight" which was more or less the same things as Soulburst in Stranger of Paradise.
To be fair, LR is actually a really good game mechanically. Just baffling that it had to be a 13 sequel.
Quick question.
Does your performance in battles affect the amount of experience received?
If you perform elaborate combos and dodges do you get more xp?
Good question. I couldn't tell from the demo. Because there's limited encounters and you basically leveled up twice. But I know the pre-orders come with a EXP bonus accessory, so I think not?
I can't imagine anyone excited for this game has played the demo. It was very poor.
