Im enjoying it so far, but its true the game feels too easy/non FF like. I dont agree with the corridor segments. Its a bit more railroaded than FF12 but its much more open than FF13. Im using ignition because its kino.
It's easy because most of the main fights are 3-5 battles long. And you don't get to replenish anything through them. There are probably people out there genuinely struggling to keep all 7 potions for these long battles.
Like battle cutscene, transform battle cutscene, transform battle cutscene, eikon cinematic, battle continue cutscene.
And then after the battle you watch a cutscene, and then another cutscene, and then another cutscene., and then you play the game and then a cutscene.
If this game was harder you'd blow your brains out. It's not like playing a mechanically challenging two part battle like Souls games, it's not puzzle like RE games. It's watching the irrelevant HP bar that doesn't reflect what's currently going on. They should have just had one hp bar with 5 bars because that is what every fight is.
Unless you're over leveled for these boss fights they take a really long time even if you take 0 dmg.
>too easy/non FF like
play a FF that had nothing to do with Nomura for a change
No idea what that anon is even talking about, I played 6~16 and all of them are easy base story wise. Sure some if the optional stuff can be hard that’s like that for all of them.
my whole build is all about breaking into stagger as fast as possible, heatwave into garuda slash/jump into ramuh big aoe and I also have diamond dust and ignition in my back pocket for extra stagger damage on command/great enemy pack cleanup.
I love spending time with Jill, I had to make an extra save for her special quest where you have to choose between her and Tarja for the alone time because I knew I would just pick Jill again in my NG+ playthrough. Something about her and Clive's relationship feels like remembering a lost simple beauty I had all but forgotten.
Boss battles are good. Everything outside of that is trash.
The combat in general is a whole nother level above the rest of the game honestly
eh. I feel like the combat gives you some cool tools, it just all comes together kind of awkwardly. I think SoP had better combat overall. Also WAY too much particle effects holy shit.
Honestly? I found it incredibly boring and was fortunate enough to be able to return it 3 days after purchasing it due to being friends with the dude who runs the gamestop in town.
He marked the game as defective and I got a full refund but now he literally has to throw the game in the trash which we had a good laugh about
>gamestop
Nice lie. Gamestop doesn't exist anymore.
How does bahamut works?
It doesn't deal much damages, and it's slow as frick
You're supposed to dodge to raise the level. It's still slow and not worth it but it's kind of cool.
Bahamut is shit, honestly. Even if you get the max level Megaflare, it just doesn't do that much damage. Impulse is good though.
>How does bahamut works?
Bahamut is actually good but only in certain situations. You can use both Impulse and Satellite while charging, and if you know the bosses attacks you can get to level 4 in ~10 seconds which gives you more damage than yo would have gotten attacking normally for 10 seconds
>How does bahamut works?
You press square to gape his anus
That;s his main ability
Satelite to keep attacking then charge megaflare, time it with a series of attacks to dodge and charge it quickly, release and then Impulse. The fire breath is good for mobs or after dumping the other stuff
I just use Impulse and Satellite to burn stagger, and then proc them again with lightning rod and wykes for damage
The only time I bothered with Bahamut was the S rank dragon hunt so it wouldn't be a complete waste of time when the dragon flies up and starts throwing tons of bullshit fire for a few minutes. Even then I still think my overall damage output across the entire fight was so much lower that it probably wasn't worth it.
The people saying Bahamut isn't good don't know how to use it. It's great against bosses who have phases where they piss out AoEs because you can fill the whole meter in a few seconds and then as soon as they land within range you get a free constant rain of damage and stagger.
If many enemies that don't have aoe piss phases, if they're just hyper aggressive you can get back to back dodges no problem.
Or you can just use Shiva once and freeze them for 10 seconds and do whatever the frick you want in the meantime for free off of one dodge.
Or you can just spam charged magic for more dmg and stagger lol
Struggling to finish it, ps says I'm 89% through. Some moments I'm having fun, others I'm questioning why I'm even playing it. I'll play through NG+ and see if it gets any better skipping the cutscenes.
Thoughts?
I honestly feel like Odin might be more effort than it's worth, but the Lvl. 5 Zan's make me diamonds.
>Thoughts?
I like him younger
I was disappointed right off the bat. I liked the demo, and the fact you find Jill and Torgal not even 15 minutes into the main game really rubbed me the wrong way. The game feels rushed, but is also simultaneously a slog, The only good character is killed off fairly early into the game, and it just goes downhill from there. The story, characters, and combat are all fairly boring. The combat is way too easy and I couldn't be bothered playing NG+. After that awful ending I just wanted to play a better game. People hype up the boss fights, but they're mind-numbingly boring outside of being QTE ridden set-pieces. I honestly had high hopes for this game, because CBU3 are fairly decent, but god damn did they frick up hard with this game.
>ain game really rubbed me the wrong way. The game feels rushed, but is also simultaneously a slog
it's because of all the cutdcenes
sorry for your stroke
>After that awful ending I just wanted to play a better game
what didn't you like about the ending?
e-celeb trash. Go give crowb some mouth to mouth tongue sucking while you're at it, homosexual.
Rotations/eikons don't really matter till NG+. Run what you enjoy. Its NG+ where you'll have to be a bit more daring with your setup.
I love Clive and Jill
Jill is so fricking bland.
Mid is best girl and it's not even close
Anyone that doesn't see the charm in Jill is a fool, their brain too fried from seeking neverending stimulation to understand the beauty of her purity as a character.
Jill is nice but Mid is just better, sorry.
I’m wondering what the other handkerchiefs colors says when you pick them in the sidequest.
Now we just need the yellow one
amen Jill bro, be glad to be blessed with the understanding of the essence of her divinity
Purity? She was raped and then became a mass murderer under duress.. Lmao she is far from pure. She said it herself.
speedreader
>raped
Dummy, she awakened when they tried to rape her.
After that she was a complete abomination in theirs that would containment them with sin.
Shame. She is forced to be with Clive because nobody wants an ugly and also rape victim dominant.
She was never raped, get better bait.
Bland is okay sometimes. At least shes cute
Simplicity is very charming when done right, and Jill is done right in that way at least.
please post more cute jill clive photos

I'm quite enjoying myself just immersing myself into the world and characters. Combat is a blast and I'm finding the linearity kinda refreshing after so many open-world games as of recent. One thing that kinda bothers me if just how slowly the dialogue is delivered. Although most square enix games are guilty of this.
It's my GOTY so far. The combat, the characters, even the dialogue all hits right for me. I can't stop deleting stagger bars with Garuda then punching shit to death. I do feel like a moron for not being able to figure out how not to be shit with Bahamut.
for me, it was the sodomy, STDs, homosexuals tonguing each other, poopy dicks and troony gods
final fantasy is fricking BACK, wearing a diaper!
You seem to have it confused with your weekly Friday ritual at the gay bar.
this game is full of gays and I am happy CBU3 finally realized who their audience is
>giving it replies in a comfy thread
Do better
comfy dicks in ass!
Why are you in so many of these threads if it makes you mad? This can't be good for your blood pressure.
Same. Game is great, frick the haters
Why did they do it?
It was hilarious. I don't think anyone could have predicated how Hugo's stuff played out.
Thats ok, the fact that there is a scene with Barnabas and Hugo naked wad the real surprise even if it was Ultima
Everything after Titan Lost is such a frickign slog, already finished it but i wish i didn't.
>he didn't like the Bahamut fight
I don't even remember if Bahamut was before of after Titan Lost. The entire AYYLMAO XD 12 hour info dump too much for my small smooth brain.
>never ending gauntlet

Pozzed garbage = no buy
what was the last non pozzed garbage you DID buy?
Has anyone ripped the OST yet?
It couldn't be any more obvious that the expansion will be a prequel with us playing as Leviathan's dominant in the first war of humanity against Ultima, with the final battle being what created Final Sin.
Having a great time, finished the first playthrough, doing FF mode at the moment. I was hoping actual bosses would have additional mechanics but the different enemy placement is good. Ben Starr absolutely kills it as Clive and his cries when Joshua died at the end hit me really fricking hard.
Items are boring and it's CBU3 at their worst. XIV has the same problem, I REALLY wish they would have some balls and just put some fun modifiers in, my mind actually broke when I saw a trinket reduce 0.2 seconds off my magic charge. Like it's a singleplayer game, have some imagination for gods sake.
But overall, my favourite since X, and it deserves to be put next to the PS1 lineup in terms of quality.
I'm waiting for the pc version. Do you think they will make dlcs?
I wish they made ff14 offline or at least ff11
>my favourite since x
That gives me a lot of hype since I love ffx
do I just wait to use zantetsuken every 5 battles or so? this shit is moronic slow to charge up
>do I just wait to use zantetsuken every 5 battles or so? this shit is moronic slow to charge up
The Odin super move dancing blade + the accessory to increase zantetsuken charge by 25% means you will fill it up to max every time you use the move. It kind of breaks the game because a level 5 zantetsuken instantly ends all non-boss fights.
>a level 5 zantetsuken instantly ends all non-boss fights.
but all non-boss fights are trivial
>but all non-boss fights are trivial
Yes, but there's a difference between a fight being easy and a fight having an instant win button.
It feels to me like you basically always need to have Phoenix and either Shiva or Titan and you're handicapping yourself if you don't.
>Phoenix and either Shiva or Titan and you're handicapping yourself if you don't.
Lol I’m not running any of them
does it do anything for boss fights?
A lot of damage.
Level 5 Zantetsuken is the highest damaging ability in the game that's also a unique ability.
You need to be using either Dancing Steel or Heaven's Cloud all the time if you want to Lvl. 5 Zan's consistently.
Gungnir is good in groups, but it's ass for boss fights.
>no eikon fight feels the same
Did he tell the truth?
Odin sucks ass, it's just Zantetsuken dump.
Best Eikon unique abilities are Shiva, Phoenix, Titan and Garuda.
Best customizable ability is Bahamut, Ifrit, Ramuh and Titan.
>Odin sucks ass
But it's cool though. Although really, they could've given him some more damage. A level 5 Zan isn't even that much better than a Judgment Bolt.
>Best customizable ability
>Bahamut
Bahmut does not have a single good thing about it.
Impulse deletes boss stagger while also giving good multiplier stacks on staggered boss window. Gigaflare also deletes boss healthbar. Satellite is alright if you use a lot of magic burst.
I think it's a better game than DMCV, especially once you start getting into arcade mode and scoring. It's very fun to design loadouts for each stage and experiment with different abilities and accessories. Also I think the enemy and boss design is way better than DMCV
Bahamut is extremely strong, because Impulse and Gigaflare are some of the best abilities in the game. Bahamut's feat is also good if you are strategic when to use it, such as bosses' untargetable phases. Odin is the real noob trap in XVI
frick youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
There's a final Torgal quest? Frick
idk if it's the final one but I'm just cleaning up after the ending
thought the game had already gotten all the gut wrenches out of me possible, nope nope nope
tbhq the Eastpool and Northreach quests fricking suck, though. particularly the Northreach one.
Eloise and Theodore quest is pretty heart wrenching. I didn't expect that's going to happen.
They should have moronproofed the game by marking these significant side quests differently as "side stories" or something
also, the amount of missable dialogue in the game is quite something. pretty sure almost every npc in the hideaway has a new voice line for every event. there's also this woman in the hideaway who lusts over every male in the place lol
I like the dancing kid at the back who became friends with each animal at the hideout
>there's also this woman in the hideaway who lusts over every male in the place lol
At the end she wanted to frick Clive, she legit listed after EVERYONE with a dick
I too have this Autism and I have to tell you that every fricking NPC have different dialogue depending on story events you're on. I found out Lazarus and Amber being flooded because of the ambient NPC chatter. The NPC chatter also adds a little more lore that's not available from Loresman.
Also that woman was falling for Goetz lmfao.
>Gav is a naughty boy who'd pulls on my braid while Goetz is a sweet baby who's begging to be coddled and cherished with
Just got done, will probably get the last memory then do ng plus
I did every side quest and hunt in the game and I'm still missing two memories.
One is from doing all the Eikon challenges and the other you get from talking to whatsername three times after completing her quest.
Only one you maybe should miss is the one from doing all the chronolith trials no idea how you missed one of you did all the sidequests
It’s pretty good but has some major flaws. Most notably is the lack of interactivity with party members; I can’t change équipement give them new abilities, issue commands to them nothing. Also some story segments especially regarding the bearers are simply boring and uninteresting. That being said the boss fights are wonderful. Soundtrack is also kino.
About halfway through so we shall see
Did you guys like the QTE minigame where you had to thrust Terence's wiener inside Dion's ass?
That was kino
I knew it. This game is literally XIV-2. Everything about it. The eikon battles are basically identical. The plot is literally DRK/RPR job quest lines. Clive might as well be WoL because he defeats eikon and becomes more powerful. Character models and designs ripped off of XIV.
And to put icing on the cake, it's CUTSCENE AFTER CUTSCENE AFTER CUTSCENE. And they have the stupid caption: Meanwhile elsewhere... Just like in FFXIV. The OST just sounds like slightly changed copies of XIV.
I don't want to hear anybody say "b-b-buh muh influences", if you heard FFXV and FFX13 and FF10 and FF7 you know they all have distinct OSTs. This isn't supposed to be XIV, it's supposed to be XVI.
Yoshi is a damn hack.
Fine for me since I never bothered with XIV so itll feel fresh to me
Doesn'take him less of a hack. Even if it's fresh these back to back cutscenes, xiv side quests, and edgy WoL persona is horrible. Nobody should applaud this game fresh or not.
The one redeeming part is seriously the combat system.
It makes him less of a hack to me so yeah. Cutscenes and FF go hand in hand. Every single player FF is basically a movie game and fans know that. The side quests are better than XV, not a high bar but its an improvement.
To you. But objectively he is a hack. Nothing, not even your personal opinion can justify it.
Dude didn’t even try with his bait, how horrible
how do L5 zan, judgment bolt, and jigaflare compare
You want to be using all of them in stagger
Gigaflare = 60 second cooldown, ~90% of Zantetsukens damage, takes ~10% of a stagger bar to complete
Judgment Bolt = 90 second cooldown, stops time, ~80% of Zantetsukens damage
Zantetsuken = Stops time, requires a level 5 charge and (even with an accessory) Dancing Steel will only give you ~4.75
Honestly, Zantetsuken is probably the worse out of all of them when you consider you need at least two Odin abilities just to build it up.
Highest damage stagger I reach on level 50 is 156K
>Impulse and Limit Break just before Boss stagger
>Strength Potion
>Limit Break combo
>Dancing Steel
>Zantetsuken
>Judgement Bolt
>Gigaflare
>Flames of Rebirth
>Impulse again
>Limit Break combo
I use the Gott thingy weapon and Genji Glove though so YMMV
>danc, impulse, judgment, giga, rebirth = 5/6
what are you doing to get to stagger though
Literally hit the enemy and also impulse. Again, I have to say that pure damage build like this shit is fricking BORING because you doesn't do much cool shit except when the enemy is staggered.
So this is my regular loadout
Phoenix: Lightning Rod, Flames of Rebirth
Shiva: Diamond Dust, Raging Fist
Bahamut: Impulse, Gigaflare
Accessories: Genji Glove, Berserker Ring, Torgal Necklace
hm yea I like to balance between stagger and damage abilities. probably not optimal but it keeps things fun for me
I wouldn't call this game an adventure.
Combat and story is good but everything outside of those fricking sucks.
Again, if you want to frame it within that Western context, be my guest. Race as a construct is a Euro invention, so the victims really only have themselves to blame for creating the delineations upon which their life or death was decided.
I fricking HATE the main story, but when I'm just running around doing side quests and killing shit, it can be alright. Maybe I'll like NG+, but not if this story doesn't make me break my PS5 in unbridled anger.
The berserker ring makes most of the reactive moves and the titan block and shiva dodge feel kind of redundant, I'd rather just get a big dodge with some free fire sword afterwards and same my abilities for other stuff. I haven't quite beaten the game yet though, so I imagine that when playing through on NG+ there will be stages or bosses that having the royal guard block or whatever is more optimal for.
Shiva dodge gives you much more damage though because the freeze lasts so long. Titan ended up being pretty mediocre; it can block most attacks with no penalty but the actual perfect blocking is easier to do than Shiva but with worse rewards
Which of Shiva's moves work best? Maybe I ditched it too quickly. I assume Rime has to be used with one of her knockbacks? I found it to be really hard to use when I tried it out briefly.
>Which of Shiva's moves work best?
Diamond Dust is a short cooldown, huge stagger damage, gets you to 1.5x multiplier quickly. Mesmerize is also good if you commit to using it off cooldown, as it does good stagger damage and good damage at point blank range, despite a very short cooldown.
I tried really really hard to find any good use for Blind Justice and can't find any. Trash AOE is not an issue in this game
Titan's counter is mediocre but raging fist is the best defensive ability in the game
Enormous counter window and huge stagger damage on top of just being a great general use attack
>but raging fist is the best defensive ability in the game
I've had it activate then the punches whiff too many times, I had to stop using it. I switched to just using Shiva as my sole defensive ability because it's more consistent.
Practice gets it down perfect. The trigger window activates the moment you press it and lasts until the first punch hits
>Practice gets it down perfect. The trigger window activates the moment you press it and lasts until the first punch hits
The problem isn't that I can't get the punches to activate, the problem is I get it to activate then Clive just punches air. It kept happening.
48 hours, 68% in with all the side content available atm completed. Im going full Bahamut right now, the more aggressive the enemy the easier, since dodges charge Mega Flare quickly. I can believe Im this far and still no Shiva, I knek Odin would be the last but I expected her to be the third one
the ending made me cry
Jill and Torgal crying. The classic FF theme playing. The book written by Joshua Rosfield
It was a good story.
Why are people thinking Clive died anyways? It’s pretty clear that Clive wrote the book under his brother’s name so he will never be forgotten
Because people didn't do the final set of side quests so they missed the clarification that Raise doesn't bring someone back from death just the brink of it.
Raise is ultima's spell that ressurects. its the pheonix that cant ressurect
People lack critical thinking skills
That's pretty much the realization I've had reading some takes on the ending, so many people seem to think that Clive died and Joshua was revived despite evidence presented within the game as long as you go out of your way to obtain it, but some people just take things far too literally.
i think people who say joshua couldn't have been revived are also being too sure of it, the way the ending is presented, with the music, and clive's reaction, makes it also possible he was revived
>clive's reaction
Nothing about it indicated that, quite the opposite in fact.
he doesnt look sad, or keeps trying futilely to heal him. he turns and looks at the crystal, and realizes that he's getting fricked up by using too much magic. i don't think that indicates he failed to raise joshua
Okay so I'm not very far yet, maybe about 20 hours in with a few side quests. That Time Skip was handled weird right? I mean five years and everything is essentially the same. Clive and Jill still sporting the same clothes, Charon and company still hiding out. Speaking of Jill, what was that "will-they, wont-they" almost kiss? Youre telling me there hasnt been any more development of that little moment in 5 years? I havent got much farther than Cid Dying so maybe its touched upon later. Its just weird. So far story is kind of boring but the Eikons are all over the place and its a fricking spectacle with them. The environments are definitely PS5 quality although there doesnt seem to be much exploring yet.
Stuff does start changing increasingly quickly over the second half of the game, just not instantly after the time skip. I do agree that it is super weird that Clive and Jill's relationship didn't develop at all in the 5 year timeskip. When I heard that was happening as part of the game I was certain that they'd have a kid after the 5 years.
>didn't develop
did you miss how much he started touching her after the timeskip? every other cutscene his hand is on her back, bro
Im the same anon whos only gotten as far as the time skip. So is there actually any real moments involving their romance or is it the same Japanese trend of an implied relationship where they never actually get the balls to embrace or anything? Not like a full on sex scene but Square likes to blue ball their love stories.
99% of the cutscenes in the game are obsessed with implication but yes, in no uncertain terms is their relationship confirmed, several times over.
Alright cool. For a FF thats going for a bit more mature take, it would drive me nuts to see Clive Badassfield be a little cuck for 90% of the game
>Not like a full on sex scene
Bro...
This was a really awkward scene.
They make it to the beach and then just scene skip to post sex.
Anon, the scene was pre sex not post, they were just drying their clothes initially. You literally see them going at it at the end before the camera moves away.
Why would they need to dry their clothes?
It's a bit odd considering Clive's clothes are apparently fireproof.
Because they were in the ocean
They were at the bottom of the ocean floor between two parted halves of the ocean. When did they get wet?
The waves started collapsing and they had to run away and washed up on a beach or something
So, Jill, the Eikon of Ice was worried about getting a cold form her wet clothes and Clive, an Eikon of Fire, was worried about his wet clothes burning.
Yea. All I do is turn on my limit break and set my whole body on fire. Or I use the Blessing of the Phoenix to warm myself up. Or I semi-prime to become partially an Eikon of Fire.
absolute autism
Which part? The part where the wet clothes would make the Dominant of Shiva cold or the part where the Dominant of Ifrit would feel cold?
>bro their internal human body temps are just completely different even though this is said nowhere in the game and I'm just making it up
yeah that part
Internal body temperatures of Dominants of Shiva and Ifrit are probably different. Since one can turn into a living manifestation of frozen water and the other can set himself on fire at will, I think that's a bit different.
Yea, someone already said that.
>probably
exactly you utter moron, it's fricking magic, Hugo got his fricking hands chopped off by a regular steel sword, oh my 10,000 times folded Titan hardness
frick off
Hugo got his hands cut off when when he was normal. Not semi-primed, not fully primed. By the way, why the frick did Clive slice off Hugo's hands? If Clive was in range of his hands, he could've sliced his head off. And did you notice how Huge lunged at Clive like 3 times before Clive swings his sword? Maybe Clive could've ended Hugo right then and there. Possibly.
Clive in Jill got wet while they weren't semi primed or primed, what's your point
your logic doesn't make any sense
Because he said he was going to kill him with his bare hands
holy autism
They were running to get away from the crashing waves Barnabas split right before that and got their clothes wet, they were quite literally in the middle of an ocean guys, it's kinda obvious.
Wait. The second Eikon of Fire got wet and had to take his clothes off to dry it?
Have you never had sea water on your clothes?
Pretty good
Has the model been ripped yet?
I want to know if she has nipples.
>was certain that they'd have a kid after the 5 years
How the frick would they have time to have a child? They were busy trying to free bearers over the 5 years and rebuild the hideout
They were sleeping the same room that entire time, better question is how they avoided it. Does Charon sell the pill?
Magic
Just rams a crystal up there for 20 seconds, ding! Babies dead.
Sodomy
STDs
Poopy dicks
homosexuals
Queers
We are so back
>dancing steel
>decent damage
>does a million hits so also does decent stagger
>not-moronic cooldown
>also charges zantetsuken
is this as good as I think it is
It's pretty good but it's also extremely boring watching the cutscene over and over. Also, it's very slow to startup so it drains a lot of your stagger time.
I'm thinking it'd be good to use to get to stagger
Barry
Clive is Estienien and Jill is Ysayle. This game is just the HW writer taking stuff he liked from there and putting it into a single player game with higher production value. I've found I liked it a lot, the side quests that slowly build on themselves over time, featuring the same characters further along on their journey worked really well I think. But I can understand why people who come for the action combat and ridiculous boss spectacles get super bored by that sort of mundane world and character building. There are almost two diametrically opposed games inside, which is why a lot of people seem to really love aspects of it but also think there are boring and tedious bits.
I am also trans btw
GIVE ME THUNDER
ng+ is fun so far. also arcade mode is neat.
I'm very proud of myself for calling the Shiva transfer sex like a year ago

>What in the hell…?

>PHOENIX
>FIRE AND FLAAAMEEEE
>GARUDAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>RAMUUUUUUUUUHHH
>BRING ME THUNDER
>TITAAAAAN
>ROCK AND STOONEEEE
>BAHAAAMUUUUTTT
>GIVE ME LIIIIIIGHTTTT
>SHIVAAAAAAAA
>GIVE ME ICEEEEEE
>ODIN
>....
Wow, Clive fricking hate Odin huh. Every Eikon has unique callout except Odin
Odin does have one, I think it's something like "To battle, Odin" but i'd have to fish for it. I know i've heard it.
To arms, Odin.
Great game. Wish more people would make characters like Dion if they insist on jamming gays and the like into literally everything.
>is a gay
>is also bahamut
>has the best boss battle
>has the best death
>"I beg not for acceptance, but ask for forgiveness!"
Makes you forget hes a polesmoker entirely. Because he's a cool interesting character beyond his sexual preference.
Anyone else dreading the fact that FF goes back to shit after this? Ain't no way Yoshi continues main titles and FF14.
Dion is like Barret, a homosexual and a black done right. They didn't even advertise him kek
I'd legitimately love the game way more if you actually got to add Dion to your party for a bit, I love Dragoons and he's great.
He isnt the gayest chsracter in the game, though. A soldier that has a male courtier in the Veil is way more gay
Was this even in the game? Was it a form of Ultima?
Ultimalus his final form most likely. Leviathan there too but he was most likely scrapped.
i wanna see eloise nipples
I finished the game without cheat rings and I'm action mode. I don't even see the point in not cheating though, since it's already piss easy. All you're doing by cheating is saving time. There's no challenge so what's the point in just making the game longer just to say you didn't cheat?
>christcuck with mommy issues
nice villain
I feel like I'm one of the few people who actually likes Barnabas. I feel like if they'd given more time to the Fallen he might've been a "better" villain, or at least people might understand why he is the way he is. It's a bit poetic that someone of the bloodline that first rebelled against Ultima is the final pillar before his defeat.
he's just sephiroth but without the personal connection to the MC, and actually being controlled by jenova/ultima
Barnabas was mediocre for the entire game up until his final few moments where he became a schizo fightgay and started laughing like a maniac.
I wish he was more like that.
what do we know about this outer continent? its where Cid comes from as well right?
So what was Ultima's, the troony god, ultimate goal? Turn everyone transgender?
just your typical erase the world to make a new one
>So what was Ultima's, the troony god, ultimate goal? Turn everyone transgender?
He wants to kill everyone and create a new planet and needs Clive's body to do it.
He wanted to create a space isolated from the rest of the world where the blight can't reach.
Basically a place where they can keep using magic as much as they want while the exernal worlds get dried to dust.
Idiots.
I'm about to go into Stonehyrr.
Please tell me the game won't suddenly unlock any more side quests...
HA
End this suffering please
All the good sidequests are on endgame anon
kino
Why didn't Jill join them?
If Bahamut could re-unlock his powers she could too. She used them multiple times.
Because she's a weak woman and a jobber
Clive fricked her too hard so she was too sore
>If Bahamut could re-unlock his powers she could too. She used them multiple times.
because Dion intends to die, neither Jill nor Clive want Jill to die. The berserk mindlessness isn't certain if you prime again without the full power of the icon, but it seems like it will be the last thing you ever do if you do it.
It seemed to imply from Joshua's reaction that she was moronic and gave Clive all her power or too much of it.
The very reason Cllive took Jill's powers in the first place was to protect her, the moment she gave in to Clive's request, she basically conceded to his plea and decided to take a seat back from the final fight. That's the reason she didn't join, and if she was to randomly join after all that happened, it would just be bad writing.
>it would just be bad writing.
Plenty of it in the game already.
>BARNABAS, DOMINANT OF ODIN, WHO JUST SLICED THROUGH A BUILDING, I WILL FIGHT YOU ONE ON ONE WITH ONLY MY SWORD AND NONE OF THE 5 DOMINANT POWERS I NOW POSSESS
>I WILL ALSO TELL MY FRIENDS, DOMINANT OF SHIVA AND DOMINANT OF PHOENIX, TO STAND ASIDE AND NOT FIGHT TOGETHER AGAINST YOU
So what, should they just add more of it because?
If they wanted to be consistent, yea.
Barnabas would have absolutely murdered both Joshua and Jill, seems like the smart choice to me
So, Barnabas is so strong he could've taken all three dominants and you think the smart choice is for Clive to fight him one-on-one with just his sword? I'm sorry, sir. That's not the smart choice. The smart choice is to have fled the moment they saw Barnabas because he is the King of Waloed, Dominant of Odin and in league with Ultima which would make him a terrifying opponent they shouldn't tackle without careful planning.
Jill was semi-primed creating a tunnel of ice for them to escape the crashing water around them. Clive can semi-prime or fully prime whenever he wants without cost. Every time we use our Limit Break, it happens. But even then, he shoots flaming wings and become s a fireball in battle often. It is canon that he has absorbed dominant powers and has the Blessing of the Phoenix. He's on fire a lot from the very start of the game and even NPCs know this. At least some do.
Which is pretty dumb. Clive had a sword that cut of both his hands in one swing. Did Hugo just think he would be able to avoid that or something?
>Jill was semi-primed creating a tunnel of ice for them to escape the crashing water around them.
Anon how the frick do you think they got to shore? Climbed up a tunnel of ice, did they?
I assume the tunnel of ice took them all the way to the beach, since they were running down it when the cutscene ended. But why does it matter how they got to the shore? If it got wet, it still doesn't explain why the Eikon of Ice is worried about getting a cold or why the Eikon of Fire couldn't have just blasted his clothes dry. If you wanted to get them naked, why bother with a premise if it's going to be that fricking stupid.
anon, I
>So, Barnabas is so strong he could've taken all three dominants and you think the smart choice is for Clive to fight him one-on-one with just his sword? I'm sorry, sir. That's not the smart choice. The smart choice is to have fled the moment they saw Barnabas because he is the King of Waloed, Dominant of Odin and in league with Ultima which would make him a terrifying opponent they shouldn't tackle without careful planning.
Barnabas was never going to kill Clive, he was never really trying to outside of giving his all for one final good contest. He was devoted to the idea of his religion and his god told him to make Clive complete, outside of the love of combat he had no reason to win.
So, you think it was smart for Clive to tell Jill and Joshua to stand aside while he took on Barnabas one-on-one with just his sword, waiting until after Barnabas had bested him a few times before Semi-priming and then losing to an opponent and dominant he has never faced before and knows is in league with Ultima, the most powerful being he's ever encountered.
Go on.
>Go on.
are you a virgin
Of course, I am. I'm on Ganker.
You'll get a PS5 exclusive X remake and you'll pay $70 for it.
okay that explains it
It always explains it. I'm has pure as Jill was when she waited 5 years before kissing Clive despite living within the same tight-knit community day after day, night after night, and working side by side.
To be fair, she did try
twice
quad-disaster doesnt sound nearly as cool
tetra-disaster is fine
Anon it was a suicide mission did you miss the part where they all said goodbye to their loved ones before leaving and Dion literally saying he isn't scared of death anymore.
she was a hero
I mean she isn't wrong, if we lived in a world where your lineage could guarantee you become a living nuke for your country, people would be obsessed with this shit. Especially women.
Updated Garuda design from XIV. Her face was kino.
Valheim
good on you https://twitter.com/Valheimgame/status/1400441135403704322
Game is not pozzed, unlike this piece of trash
according to the barryscale, troony players = pozzed game
Valheim is pozzed as frick lmao also a dead game with no updates
It's not? I don't remember seeing homosexuals kissing and fricking or troony gods in Valheim
Why are people so upset about Ultima pretending to be Barnabas's mother with an illusion spell to get Barnabas to eat him out?
You cant even see the gay kiss. 13 sentinels has a long substory dedicated to a gay romance, and when it came to switch the doompost about that stopped
I don't remember seeing gayflags on xvi either
lmao where's your non pozzed game now, b***h?
I frickin love when you follow one of these replies down and you see some dipshit get completely btfo to the point he has to stop replying and shift targets.
cmon man, they are just enjoying their colors
>dropped off at the hideaway hospital barely alive
>crawls out of bed
>somehow makes it on foot across the ENTIRE CONTINENT IN LESS THAN A DAY despite barely being able to walk
If they make a Dion's chapter as dlc he is going to be like the first gay protagonist man isn't he?
I don't think they'll do a Dion dlc I think it's going to be the Final Sin / Leviathan prequel.
That said I wouldn't be opposed to a chapter where Dion fights Barnabas and we get Bahamut vs Odin.
I can see a Joshua and Jill dlc
Maybe PUNISHED DION will join too
For a Final Fantasy game at least.
Although it would be unlikely, I would certainly hope that there would be either way. It would be interesting to play as a Dragoon with this new combat system. I would think it could be similar to Kain's kit in Dissidia Duodecim.
it is pride month after all
Because he is a chad like most dragoons
i'd go that far for the potion girl too.
WHY DID THE PUT AN IMPOSSIBLE SHEATHE ON HIS BACK? Nobody, physically can unsheathe a sword directly from their back without a special holster. It's physically impossible to do, and the animation shows his arm turn triple jointed and it pop out the sheathe.
How are these idiots missing these details?
rule of cool
Same with Link or Ryu Hayabusa. It’s how it is.
I actually thought it would be cooler if Dion wasn't a dragoon. He can be like a generic knight or something.
Initially I thought the idea was the Terence and Dion would be a Dragoon and his Dragon. You can even play up a Cecil/Kain parallelism for the yaois.
MADE FOR MARRIAGE AND LOVING WIFE

MADE FOR PUMP AND DUMP
>Mid
>Desiree

Sorry, Jillbros. That's just how it is
Mid is your consistent frick buddy that you accidentally get pregnant but you both decide to keep it and she turns out to be the perfect mother and caring but bratty wife
>forgetting jote
>no Jote
Cringe
>Anabella
>made for pump and dump
she has 3 kids two of which are fricking 30 and she still looks amazing. she's prime breeding material, just need to quell some of that evil.
YWNBAW
homie there is a 2 second kiss.
I was actually surprised I thought Dion was going to legit have a full on sex scene based on that Saudi ban on it
Anon he is a tendie trying to argue in bad faith, ignore him
SIC EM TORGAL
do you get enough orichalcum to craft all the things, or do I have to choose
you get enough to craft everything but choose wisely. You get a couple pieces from sidequests but anything past that is from S rank hunts.
I'm gonna do all the hunts so I should be fine right?
>I'm gonna do all the hunts so I should be fine right?
yeah.
Why do people think Clive survived? The ending clearly showed he was rapidly turning to stone on the beach. Coupled with the Metia star going out and Jill's reaction, its clear he was gone.
wait for XVI-2, when Jill becomes a traveling songstress
He has autism on taking dead people's names also do Harpocrates and Jill sidequest.
It heavily implies he barely survived and wrote the book ending.
>"at dawns break..."
>the quill
did you even do the sidequests? Also there is no "rapidly turning to stone", Dominants become ash.
Because the final set of side quests hints at the idea of Clive finishing Joshua's story if he dies, about how the phoenix can't raise people back from the dead etc. On the flip side there's also a quest where you get a medicine that will help Joshua better heal from Ultima's place inside of him.
So it's up in the air. One of them lives, one of them dies, or both live, but it's hard to say and it doesn't really matter because the game can't have a direct sequel with how it ends.
>live, but it's hard to say and it doesn't really matter because the game can't have a direct sequel with how it ends.
Just do a 13-2 and fricking ignore the ending of the previous game.
>Just do a 13-2 and fricking ignore the ending of the previous game.
No one would trust a FF game if they pulled that shit again
my guy they're making a sequel to ff7
13-2 is unironically the game that set in motion the downfall of FF as a household name, I don't think Squeenix is going to do a FF*-2 for a long time unless they release something that breaks sales and review records like FFX did.
FFX-2 is unironically a great game and I'm never going to stop defending it.
lmao fricking newbies. 10-2 is when the series went to shit. not only for being a cringe game but also retroactively ruining ff10
>but also retroactively ruining ff10
Thank you, finally someone with some sense in this thread. I fricking hate how they butchered the impactful lore and characters with the nonsense that was X2. Bringing back Tidus fricking ruins X for me, I can't look at the game the same way now knowing there are fricking concerts and slumber parties waiting on the other side
Yoshi P already said there would be no dlc that continues the story. It’s a done deal
seriously? lmao the guy unironically only wants to work on 14?
It's a cushy low-effort job.
He said he doesn't want to make any DLC promises until the game is out and there is a demand for it. Maehiro on the other hand said in a recent interview that he told the story he wanted to tell and doesn't really want to continue it.
>Maehiro on the other hand said in a recent interview that he told the story he wanted to tell and doesn't really want to continue it.
based, frick forced sequels/dlc just milk the game dry
they should just focus on 7.0
Squeenix finally taking notes from Monolith Soft to set up prequel bait so you don't have to ruin the ending of your game.
Yoshi-P said they have an 18 month sales plan so theres 100% going to be DLC, I'm betting on Leviathan prequel w/ maybe an epilogue to confirm whether Clive lived or died.
>Maehiro on the other hand said in a recent interview that he told the story he wanted to tell and doesn't really want to continue it.
Good. Work on 7.0 and FFXIII instead of endlessly circling the wagon of your successes. You see where that got you with remake.
They're already remaking X and rumored to be working on IX remake.
It's unironically over.
>They're already remaking X and rumored to be working on IX remake.
>not even VIII
Leonbros...we lost
VIII got a remake :^)
X doesn't need a remake and IX only needs a graphical update.
I don't disagree but the higher ups at Squeenix have decided that the safe future of Final Fantasy are FF7 split into 3 remade games, FFX probably split into like 5 remade games, IX split into probably 2 or 3 remade games, expansions to FFXIV, and maybe FFXVII 10 years from now
FF10 only needs the crisis core remake treatment
FF8 could use ff7r format, balamb is an easy design to make filler Seed missions
FFX is the most successful game in series history and the 2nd most beloved, it's getting milked at least as hard as VII if not harder
>that continues the story
Yea no shit because they scream in your face the entire game about the inevitable Leviathan prequel
Thats for the best imo. It ended strong, no need to frick it up with some post end dlc that circlejerks the concept
>No story DLC
So... Bloody Palace?
oh look, it's a gauntlet where you fight all the other FF final/special bosses... again
I'd prefer FFXVI Dark Arisen so we can get a proper dungeon.
That would actually be pretty neat, just toss some reskinned hunt marks in there and double fights as the bosses, but in some new classic FF gear. Make the layout like one of the Vagrant Story maps. Shit would be tight, maybe call it the Cave of Summons or something and have Leviathan at the end.
>but it's hard to say and it doesn't really matter because the game can't have a direct sequel with how it ends.
lmao this is square we're talking about. Jill will become a pop star.
Its been over a decade, anon. Let it go
Eh this just feels like a cope to not just come to terms with the fact that the main protag died. I mean, were people coping this hard about Noctis dying in XV? Clive is dead, Joshua maybe survived due to whatever Clive did beforehand and penned the Final Fantasy novel that was on the desk some centuries later as a fairytale. Why is that so hard to accept?
Noctis dying was much less ambiguous.
is this your first FF bro? There's ambiguous deaths (Balthier), and there's dead dead (Tidus).
FF16 is about "people choosing how their story ends". The player, as Clive, chooses how Clive's story ends.
>The player, as Clive, chooses how Clive's story ends.
Ok, so then he is dead. Thanks for that.
you do you bro. No one can make you read the lore and do the sidequests to see foreshadowing.
Square left it open ended incase they want to do sequels or DLCs
in the likely event that Joshua is dead. Then there's only 1 person in the game that actually steals people's names - Wyvern aka Cid aka Clive.
Also Joshua is bookish and would write a history book. Clive is a theater kid who loves fantasy stories
>Also Joshua is bookish and would write a history book. Clive is a theater kid who loves fantasy stories
This is the one angle of argument I could be persuaded through to believe he's maybe alive, but that ending all but spelled out Clive died
I can fix jill
But then she'll look like Yuna and Tifa
Both of those are just more loose versions of Jill, why would you dirty her like that?
>Yuna
I prefer Jill as she is
It's tradition that final fantasy must have virgin prostitute
You can't fix humpty dumpty over here unless you de-age her.
Remember. No blender porn until it drops on PC.
I am going to tear my dick off jacking to Mid blender stuff
>The Interdimensional Rift
No.
You have not earned the right to use that name.
>No linking between Jill and Torgal
Torgalbros... we lost...
Not reading the thread because I'm not done and don't want spoilers. I just 1v1'd Kupka and Torgal is also a dominant I guess? I am digging the combat and battle option choice feels rich. Clive is my favorite character even if he's a bit dramatic. I feel like the cast is a bit weak on the whole, but I do dig that Clive and Jill don't have an explicit romance going on, but I imagine it will go that way. I didn't love him at first, but the whole "revenge for my brother" felt like a believable beginning and how he went from "well what do I do now?", to taking up someone else's cause, to maybe the world really is at risk and like no one else gets it? Or like maybe some people really do? So like, plots been more compelling than I first thought, but I can't name one person from Waloed... There's Kupka who's just some sad simp, the Bahamut guy who seems alright. His dad who's clearly The Bad Guy and Clive's count of a mom.
Gear has been a bit of a let down in that I wish there were more side grade choices. Like weapons that did less damage but poisoned enemies. They have all just been +DMG so far and that's about as boring as weapon upgrades can be. Visual designs have been cool though. I've unfortunately liked Clive's armor less and less as we've time skipped.
Looking forward to doing more. Not reading any replies to this.
Game's good. Like 7.5/10 so far, from someone who's been playing these for 25 years this one's been a solid entry.
Think we'll get a DLC?
https://www.gameinformer.com/exclusive-feature/2023/05/23/final-fantasy-16-there-are-currently-no-plans-for-dlc?amp
Good. XIV has been needing some content
>NG+ Benedikta special attack one shots
Oh. What the frick
I knew this would be a thing when Behemoth OHKO's you with extinction given how many attacks through the game seem like they would but don't in the standard difficulty
Just beat. Overall a 6/10. Could have been an 8.5/10 if they trimmed the fat of the bland side quests and fleshed out the important ones as actual story tier missions even if shorter. The chasm to 10 is just a whole lot of missed potential in the combat, enemy variety, etc.
>Game heavily based on FFT, a game where the survival of the protagonist and his sister is in contest even after the ending, presented in the form of a book.
>Ends with the survival of the protagonist and his brother in contest even after the ending, presented in the form of a book.
ff16 is a matsuno game even if he didnt work on it
Almost the entire team lists FFT as one of their favorite games, and Yoshida has mentioned loving FFT, and Valisthea takes a frickload from Ivalice, up to and including Ultima's ultimate goal being to take over the body of another, and being responsible for the Dominants/Lucavi. Like... The game is not subtle about its influences.
>The game is not subtle about its influences.
Complete with the incest ending
Sadly Clive and Joshua can't turn Annabella into their fricksleeve for all the horrid shit she did.
>Girl who steadfastly supprts the man she loves and gets an actual romance with him
Is Jill the best girl in Final Fantasy?
Also i couldn't care less about her irrelevance in fights, women shouldn't fight anyway.
by that vanilla ass metric Rosa is just as good as Jill
>Also i couldn't care less about her irrelevance in fights, women shouldn't fight anyway.
Why do we have so many newbies in this thread who obviously don't like FF?
The first game literally starts with you saving a helpless woman, stop pretending to know what FF means newbie.
All FFs have female characters that fight with you to help save the world which was the actual point you brainless homosexual. Wanting Jill to be a demure tradwife that does nothing but simp for the MC is asking for another Lunafreya and that's is a reason she's hated.
his name literally has the word live in it
Calm down Kojima
>sequel title taking place in only Dhalmek where Clive now has a magitek arm
oh and also Jill gets brutally raped randomly and the Hideaway gets torched (again)
I dont think there is a better set up with rift, gigaflare, diamond dust, whirlwind, dancing knight, chainlightning.
Rift let's you set up everything chainlightning with dancing knight is stagger, dps, and instant lvl 5 zan no matter what. I can always fit 2 lvl 5 zans and gigaflares in stagger mode and diamond dust is always up for staggers. It's game breaking tbh
It's fun.
I wish I could get more Eikon abilities earlier so I could specialize more.
I'm leaning into Aerial stuff a lot, mainly cause Stomp is so much fun
So Garuda, Bahamut and Odin
Soon
You're shitposting but I'd fricking love that.
>Dion
>Not goth-Jote
You were so close
Dion? Really? Where's Tarja?
Jill tried twice in 5 years to kiss Clive? Wow. That's totally realistic and grounded. I know girls who waited that long to kiss the person they've been in love with for over 18 years and they only tried once.
The ending is basically what I've always thought Berserk's would be.
Game was good but it puts into perspective how much better FF7R is and that it was actually really good
that is some utter cope. remake is not good at all.
7R legit sucks in comparison and I'll die on this hill. The combat (and especially both party and enemy AI) in 7R and its side quests are utter dogshit and it's only loved for the nostalgia
AI better than 16s and you’re able to swap between all members so it’s inconsequential. 7s dude quests are bad yeah but not as bad as 16s of which there are tons. And at least 7R had challenge fights instead of le stagger bar in regular enemy hunts.
>AI better than 16s
Partner AI in 7R does nothing and enemy AI will solely focus on you and you alone.
It says something when the Final Fantasy game that was supposed to bring back party based combat (7R) has enemies that solely target the player controlled character at all times and zero form of aggro mechanics outside of two specific materia that FORCE aggro while the FF game with the least party control in the series has aggro mechanics under the hood which determine when enemies will target AI party members / Torgal lmfao
Barrett moron
Barrett doesn't hold any aggro without his aggro materia moron.
He has taunt and absorbs damage taken from members, what fricking more do you need.
Enemy AI that naturally targets the ally AI punching them in the face like it does in XVI
The problem is you homosexuals never praise anything until years later. Maybe if the devs knew how loved ff7r combat is they will use it more
As someone who loves jrpgs jprggays are cancer. Go to a tales of thread, you must only praise Symphonia and Vesperia forever
Reminds me of Higurashifans, while I loved Higurashi it's sad we can't get more crazy kino stories because of "only higurashi was good"
7r's combat is bad and it's good that XVI didn't use it.
XVI's combat is actually good. It could use more rpg mechanics but it's far better than XV or 7R.
This is your brain of HRT
Sorry I don't like pozzed games that force in black characters like FF7R ;^)
You don't play many games then
Oh you are a tendie troll tying your ff16 vs ff7r again
>FF7R fans, a game where you are literally required to do a musical rhythm game drag show, whose squad members consist of multi racial members, whose many themes include anti corporatism and pro environmentalist messages
>are accusing XVI fans, a game which has had endless journalists cry about how arabs don't count as blacks and how the only gay moment is a blink and youll miss it scene, of being trannies
Yep. Really goes to show how bad 16 is
You really can't come up with anything better than this schoolyard bullshit.
Why are you forcing ff7r vs ff26 again, xenogay?
>7s dude quests are bad yeah but not as bad as 16s
16's worst quests, which are about 60% of them, are equivalent to all but one or two of 7's quests. The other 40% are legitimately decent quests, and there's a few great quests which see entire areas of the map permanently change.
I didn't expect Lostwing to get flooded jesus
Quests don’t change the map at all. I’ve beaten the game. Don’t lie. And 60%?? Try 95%. If I’m gunna have to do shitty side quests better they be fewer and many and 7r at least has a couple unique encounters. None of 16s do. At best just recycled enemies with a stagger bar and an ignorable ability.
>Quests don’t change the map at all
LMAO way to out yourself as skipping the side quests that have quest lines dumbass
Name them. “Dude it’s blue now and the enemies are blue too” isn’t changing the zone.
>entire towns become empty and devoid of life, music changes, giant pillars of metal stick out of the ground
>"it's just blue now"
>dude we remove npc, mute the 1 of 3 songs that plays all game, and make it blue
WHOOOAaaa!! Big changes!
The shitty side quests in this game take like 10 minutes max.
I don't get why everyone acts like it's so horrible.
Get a list of the quests with story to them and skip the rest, who cares.
You must be obscenely early in the game.
Nope, I beat it. None of the side quests take more than 10 minutes if it doesn't involve a character arc.
There's this weird double standard where an absolute gazillion banal sidequests, fetch quests and loot turn-ins in Xenoblade Chronicles games is absolutely fine and in FFXVI it's the spawn of Satan.
That's because they're hell bent on damning this game, for what reason?
Xenoblade Chronicles is a the premier JRPG franchise of the modern age and Final Fantasy is shit. That's why.
Yet xenobladegays can't stop coming at ff threads to seethe
So much for crying about snoys and you tendies are the same
Live and let live
Don't fall for that. Barry has been trying to force a xenoblade vs ffxvi shitposting war for two years now
Remember whem xenogays said ff16 would sell less than xb3?
You are making me dislike xeno fans, always trying to stir shit
Just stick to your threads and frick off
You can find side quests like this in every RPG but apparently in this game it has become a crime against humanity.
I remember people shitting and cumming themselves because the witcher 3 finally had a couple side quests that weren't just gathering materials.
The reaction to this game has been absolutely bizarre from some individuals. It's like they convinced themselves this was the second coming of gaming jesus or something.
>It's like they convinced themselves this was the second coming of gaming jesus or something.
Other way around, as per usual on Ganker. People expected another Tortanic and now that the game has gotten good reviews and sold pretty well for a PS5 exclusive they're trying to justify shitting on it in advance for the past 2 years.
Both are shit but FF7R's combat system is more faithful to the franchise's identity.
Facts
>time ghosts
No
Better than b-tier FFX story ripoff with random GoT renames thrown in.
That Bahamut Battle is the best goddamn fight in video games. Nothing will top it, Absolute Ludokino.
Titan Lost is better.
Bahamut suffers because 1) he's brainwashed and 2) they don't even bother explaining what happened until after you win
Like Hugo hallucinating a conversation with his dead girlfriend is any better. Do you know how long Clive stood behind Hugo watching him talk to air? Clive could've ended him right then and there but he doesn't try until Hugo begins to semi-prime after a nice talk with his dead gf.
He’s not brainwashed. He kills his father and out of extreme sorrow and rage goes torched earth. He admits to all of this twice.
why the frick is the FF1 world map theme playing during the ultima fight
I was wondering that about the XIV victory music playing in certain parts, too. What were they trying to imply with that? That FF1 and XIV are somehow connected to this game?
FF14 similarities I chalk up to maybe the game sharing some staff
But what the frick is it trying to say about FF1
are they trying to tie a THIRD game to FF1?
it's a loop
clive is ultima
Same reason Barnabas' theme is an evil version of it, Soken is a hack who just wants people to go "I RECOGNIZE THAT!"
>oken is a hack who just wants people to go "I RECOGNIZE THAT!"
Its fricking Final Fantasy, anon. You're supposed to go "I recognize that!"
i prefer the games plagiarizing each other instead of plagiarizing skyrim
just saying
This game is way too fricking easy. Granted I am only about 10 hours in but holy shit where is the Hard mode. Am I not supposed to be upgrading my gear or something because seriously this is just too easy. It's like the developers though the people playing this are morons and cant handle anything. They have a really fun combat system made but what's the point where everything dies so quickly and barely fights back?
Do a no hit run.
Thank XIV players for being so god awful at video games they convinced the entire dev team any difficulty should be regulated to optional content.
XIV is difficult. I know, because I see so many players fail the normal content all the time. It's thanks to the fact it's a multiplayer game that the better players can just carry them to success like all the other hard games out there.
The only difficulty I found was doing S rank hunts the moment they unlocked, and that's because they usually kill you in one hit and take 20 minutes to die.
Hard mode is unlocked in NG+
Very hard is unlocked in NG++
Yes it's moronic
There's NG++???
Jesus christ what any screenshot for it? I thought Final Fantasy mode is the hardest.
Just beat 16. Honesty solid game would be my game of the year if a hard mode was there from the get go. Try out no armor it helps but still enemies are too passive. NG+ is still ridiculously easy and im not dying even without armor. The whole more aggressive enemies is a fricking lie.
Cut out 30 hours of fetch quest bullshit out of the main story.
The game would have been better with 9 abilities instead of 6. Finally how the frick did they miss putting out a quick loadout save slots, who the frick wants to swap eikon stuff manually everytime they want to experiment.
More aggressive enemies are in the hardest mode which is in NG++
Yes I'm serious lmao
You gotta be joking wtf. Who is in charge with these moronic decisions. This is not dmc which can beaten in 4 hours lol
no ones talking about how good the end credits song is. might be better than somnus
amanda achen delivers again
STAR LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
I'm a stickler for how brooding Somnus is, but the song is fantastic, yeah. Even Moongazing sounds pretty good for being jpop.
>Even Moongazing sounds pretty good for being jpop
the song that comes before that is way better though.
It'll help once there's an actual way to listen to the song without watching the ending again.
Need the fricking ost to release already
anyone have a link to the digital artbook content?
darn, I thought the game was going to reveal that Joshua really was dead and the Joshua we see is a remnant of phoenix's power absorbed by Clive (of "revival")
I've learned that I can get two rising flames under a single stagger window if I use enough signature moves and almost two windups as well. I'm going to equip the windup cooldown accessory and try to limit break before stagger to squeeze in that last windup next time.
Bro... level up your limit break bar... it kinda hurts to see it...
The AP struggle is real when you're mastering abilities
I'm back up to 3 now at least.
so what is the deal with the crystals, what were they for
Never explained. Ultima created them and also wants you to destroy them? Just because.
are you a moron
So explain them, Einstein.
If you dont know why ultima wanted you to destroy the mother crystals you either didnt play the game or skipped the dialogues.
Ayyliens stealing our oil.
They were sucking the planets aether to store for when Ultima needed to cast Raise.
I see
then what's with the robots
The robots are from the fallen civilization who tried to challenge Ultima and got nuked for it.
Incorrect actually. The ATL update says the Echoes were Ultima's all along, and they only resemble Fallen stuff because they've recycled Fallen ruins to maintain themselves.
Ultima is a hivemind fusion of his entire race and split himself into 8 copies dormant in the mother crystals such that they'd all efficiently drain the aether of the world clean and then re-fuse at a later date to cast raise on his race on a planet that would be outside of the blight's ability to follow
The thing is though is that humanity started doing magic too early and so he needed to get the crystals smashed asap since they weren't close enough to completion where the ultimas would come out naturally.
For those that have finished the game while skipping sidequests is it possible to finish them later?
I've been doing them as they come since they appear to be chains and I don't want to mistakenly break then, but they're pretty lengthy at the point I'm at now and I don't want to do them all at once if I can help it.
yeah you can finish them after the game is over
some make a little less sense but if you've got the right mind for it it doesn't matter
This game needed less redpainted corpse and more gash wounds, disfigurement, and limb decapitation or at least charred flesh like for benedikta. All those death scenes fell flat no matter how much blood squirted out from them. They would have more weight to them if they did, I don't need guts or gore or though for the magic to work.
Agreed, but whatever. Not like the story makes much sense and the characters are poorly written.
not wrong. hugo's arms being cut off was one of the best moments in the game, for example
>"MY HAAAAANDSSSS, MY HAAAAAANDS!"
It was funny as frick.
Why the frick does cold snap cost 3000 to master
There's no way it can be that good
It's really that good.
It evades attacks and also freeze enemies including bosses.
>bosses
>enough time to do break stagger
Ok I stand corrected time to invest in shivacoin
It's the best innate power in the game. Precision dodging freezes every nearby enemy long enough to get to the next stagger threshhold.
Cold Snap Permafrost + Lightning Rod + Will-O-The-Wykes is the ultimate cheese of the game.
Will-O-The-Wykes is a crutch and isn't even that good. Everyone has fallen on it's dick because it's an easy stagger move you get early and nobody bothered to learn other options. There's a reason you don't see anyone using it on the Ultimaniac leaderboards.
Yes it is. It also makes otherwise useless shit like Dancing steel broken as frick.
>Equip Shiva, Garuda and Odin
>Slot in custom abilities on top of those three
>Dancing steel is a must to instantly go from 0 Zantetsuken to 5 charges after a cold snap
>Most bossed will be frozen by cold snap, go to half will with Dancing steel, stunned again by deadly embrace as they get out of cold snap then go to 0 will with whatever Garuda/Bahamut bullshit you slot in
>Spam your bullshit during stagger and finish with lv5 Zantetsuken
>100k stagger dmg near lv 50.
>If the boss isn't dead, your cool down for will shredding is already up.
>Cold snap them again.
>Repeat.
It's basically a free combo video and I think it's the best build on the arcade right now.
How the frick does Dancing Steel make bosses go to half will for you? For me it does no damage, no stagger, and only builds up the Zantetsuken gauge.
Lightning rod before cold snap. And sometimes you need to blast a Garuda skill after. But it can all be done during the cold snap duration.
I think Barnabas has a lot of potential as an antagonist but was introduced way too late. There's something interesting about him going from being this great conqueror to an absolute simp because he gave up his will.
Yeah, he was introduced too late. His three cofnrontations with Clive come in too rapid a succession, with Clive suddenly being able to fight him the thrid time after jobbing twice before.
>with Clive suddenly being able to fight him the thrid time after jobbing twice before.
he got Jill sexo
The game is full of what feels like gaps in a lot of the experience, even though the game is already 40 hours long with 20 hours of cutscenes.
I was expecting more flashback cutscenes at least to some of the events like Jill's capture and enslavement/awakening to Shiva. More of Barnabas' backstory. Torgal transforming itno Fenrir goes absolutely nowhere and feels like somehting they cut but not completely because they wanted to keep that cool model.
The game at least has a "finished" narrative but it's clear a shitload of stuff was cut mid-development still.
For all the pop ups and tutorials this game has I don't think it ever explained what makes Torgal transform in battle
You gotta talk to the lore master. The dominant of Shiva always appears with a wolf familiar. But that's as far as the explanation goes.
I think he transformed by himself in battle. He's 1 rank away from max rank and pretty much transforms every 2-3 battle now for me
>The game at least has a "finished" narrative but it's clear a shitload of stuff was cut mid-development still.
That makes it even weirder, because there's still SO many cutscenes they made. I mean, the scene where they escape the Iron Docks on the Enterprise was this big scene where all of them were fighting Akashic with lots of banter and motion captured cutscenes. It's this big scene that doesn't do much but be "cool".
I think it's down to Maehiro and his fetish for "in media res". He simply doesn't want to give you all the leadup and background because he thinks it's secondary to the stuff he actually wants to show.
It's terrible though. I still can't get over the 13 and 5 year time skip. Almost nothing changes in the 5 year time skip and the 13 year time skip is almost immediately ignored. What was the point?
>What was the point?
Setting up Clive as Cid's successor taking his name, building the new Hideaway.
I agree, it's still dumb and way too long, especially with the whole Clive and Jill romance. 5 years of that sexual tension? Please.
>Setting up Clive as Cid's successor taking his name, building the new Hideaway.
That's even stupider. Clive is with Cid for how long before Cid dies? And he's voted leader? The Hideaway has been a thing Cid has been running for how long before Clive shows up?
And Clive fricking left the Hideaway for a time. I mean, there are so many issues with how things play out. Either there was WAY more that they had to edit out cause it was just that fricking long or they just fricking suck at writing. I think it's both, because even the writing that they do have comes off as really stupid.
Cid didn't "run" the hideaway. Otto did. Cid was the spiritual leader/figurehead and the guy who actually went out to do stuff because he could. Because he was a Dominant. As Clive is.
I don't know what you're trying to say. They follow Clive just like they followed Cid. Otto is the Manager. Cid is the Owner. They take order from Cid, not Otto. Clive was voted new owner.
Yeah, and it's the obvious choice because the rest of them can't transform into a fricking kaiju.
After a crisis like the first hideaway massacre, you rally around the guy who can protect you.
Like Cid protected the Hideaway from Titan?
Only thing that really sucked was no cosmetic changes. Like shit they still wearing the same hairstyle and clothes 5 years later.
Clive really got fricking SWOLE
What the frick did he eat
At least Clive gets uhhhhhh a slightly thicker beard and moronic scar.
I mean, may as well ask for a fashion system with different gear to wear. But that would clash with the CGI scenes they use with the characters.
I mean it's not some next day nitpick it's five fricking years. And he's Cid now they could have made some permanent changes in looks here like they did 3 times before.
Yea, that 5 year time skip is ass. You know what else they could've done? We could've rebuilt the hideaway over the course of the second half of the game. I mean, you can grow a garden in it. Should've been a 1 year time skip that starts with everyone scattered and working to rebuild the hideaway, then after an hour or two, we find the hideaway location and begin building it out and after missions it gets filled out.
Yeah, then the mid quests would make more sense.
Bring in mid, rebuild the hideaway, get all the character side quests over time.
They tried to make the plot feel grand by doing timeskips but ended up making it feel under explored instead.
dialogue scenes were too long-winded and, while the english voice actors themselves were good, the direction they were given was lacking at times
also stuff likes this happens out of nowhere and never gets even a decent explanation, they just expect you to go with it
lots of things that should've been explained properly weren't, things you don't care about are given long stretches of dialogue, and they repeat revelatory/epiphany moments multiple times to justify additional fight phases
>tl;dr
scenes could've been a lot more poignant and concise
>and never gets even a decent explanation
They do though. Torgal's transformation gets explained in a sidequest by Harpocrates.
Him going insane in the final phase of his fight slightly redeemed him.
There are no bad Xenoblade games and the only bad FF games are the XIII series and XV. And XIV 1.0 but that only half counts
My brethren, I'd like to object that the bad FF games are FF2, FFXV and FFXIII-2
FF1 and 2 don't really count tbh because they were before FF really came into its own identity with 3
oh my bad, and XVI
Ultima is Yu Yevon, Al bhed are bearers, magic is machina, eikons are eidolons. Cringe how unoriginal this story was.
>one billion endgame sidequests
frick
Yeah just before the final area is unbearable.
I'm just going to click through dialogue at this point
Go for it they’re all shit save for the one with your bro, Jill, and bookgay having you get the wyvern tail flower (for dion)
Shit idea, because that final batch of sidequests are the ones with the best writing.
I thought that's the second to last batch
>first haters complained about NO QUESTS
>now IT HAS TOO MANY QUESTS
Did ff even have quests to begin with? It was always some secret dungeon or some hidden weapon
Its why we got those awful quests for ff7R because SE cant stop reading haters who didnt even play the games and only want to yell at the cloud
These morons will literally shift stance at the drop of the hat. Music too classical? It's boring. Music too modern? It's not final fantasy. It's just an army of actually mentally ill drones that can't be pleased
^^^ This
Tbh it's been incredible watching Ganker the last week as the threads go from shitposting by people who never played it to comfyposting as more and more people actually beat it. It's gone from every single thread being about how it's a flop to most threads being full of comfy posting in less than 7 days.
These pieces of shit live and die in the early days of discourse. The minute enough people actually have engaged with the game to have a proper discourse their arguments always fall apart. Once they're exposed, they just disappear and move to the next major entry.
They're scum. We should honestly be given rights to personally kill them.
>first fire emblem
>then RE4R
>then octopath 2
>then xenoblade future connected
>then zelda
>then diablo 4
>then ffxvi
And it'll repeat for Pikmin, Armored Core, Baldurs Gate, Starfield, Spider-Man, and Mario lmao
This board never recovered after TOR and Mass Effect 3. A double hitter in 3 months that got people addicted to doomposting and flop posting for over a decade.
Hot take but the ME3 doom posting was even a little overmuch Game was fun just dropped the ball on the ending hard enough for Ganker to make three months of content out of it.
ME3 wasn't a bad game but it wasn't really a good one either, even if the combat was fun. The best part about it was the multiplier, and that should not be the case for that series. I think the shitposting was fair if only because of how utterly disappointing it was universally for Mass Effect fans to see all previous major choices in the entire series basically amount to an in game email and some resources.
It is extremely fricked when the biggest moral and ethical dilemma at the end of Mass Effect 2, the collector base, doesn't even have any impact on a single moment of the story in 3.
>These morons will literally shift stance at the drop of the hat.
Fricking this, the flip flopping this past week has actually been unreal, It's so shameless.
Side areas and side quests used to be a staple in FF up until 13. 16 doesn’t have tradition side content like FF use to have. It has garbage MMORPG fetch quests.
>Barnabas Fight
>Put Lightning Rod in front of him
>Staggered himself to death
KEK
Why the frick does Clive have to go through so much suffering to end up having to sacrifice himself to save the world? Shits fricking unfair man. My man needed to have his happiness with Jill.
It's slightly ambiguous
But I think that ending is the best because what Clive really wanted his entire life was for Joshua to be able to have a normal life and he hated that Joshua was forced to bear the burden of the world on his shoulders instead of being able to be a kid.
>But I think that ending is the best
It's shit because the only thing that really implies Clive's death is Jill's reaction to the stupid star disappearing and then the domino effect of everyone else crying. The characters didn't even get to see Clive die in person but they somehow just "feel" it.
>because what Clive really wanted his entire life was for Joshua to be able to have a normal life and he hated that Joshua was forced to bear the burden of the world on his shoulders instead of being able to be a kid.
Clive has been pretty much fighting for his entire life, saving lives, and making huge differences in the world. His little brother hardly did jack shit.
Japanese video game trope. The main character deleting themselves happens in multiple other games, even other JRPGs. They really, really, really love that particular story beat. Half of the Tales games have an ending like this too.
Dark Souls at least was pretty open about the choice you had. Either delete yourself or become the king of the world. Half assed shit is kinda annoying.
They literally stole the Witcher 3 idle animations for prostitutes and put it in this game. FFS
game is shit
>no screenshots
>every text is a spoiler in this thread unspoilered
??
does hard mode actually make the game harder (giving enemies new attacks or faster or someshit) or does it just swap enemies around
It swaps normal enemies around and make story boss hits harder and have 1-2 new moves.
Typhon NG+ gets more laser moves
Garuda gets a new move but tbh if you're aggressive enough you probably wont even see it.
Enemies AI is much more aggressive. In Normal Mode they stick to the old Action Game trope of not attacking you as much when off screen, in Final Fantasy Mode they really just do not give a shit and it's constant aggressive.
Damage is more significant and, like you said, many of the enemies are changed.
It does both. And after Final Fantasy mode there's an even harder NG++ called Ultimaniac.
I still think it's a really bad chocie to have locked it behind NG+. Jill pushed my shit in on NG+ because NG had made me complacent.
wow thats fricking idiotic they put that they locked that behind ng+
im almost done with the game and the the only thing that gave me trouble was maybe the dragon s rank and atlus
what were u expecting from a hardmode exactly. most games don't change the enemies.
Normally i'd agree since I don't like "unlocking" difficulties, but I think it's fine here. Because Final Fantasy mode isn't just harder, the whole game is rebalanced around the assumption you have every power immediately from the get go. I don't think you could do that on a first playthrough.
I can just do with more aggressive ai and the number balancing is all fricked already. You cannot die even without armor it takes so long to get killed.
It makes the game slightly harder but wait for them to patch in ultramaniac for the main story though, it's locked to arcade for now (presumably, I've heard rumors it's NG++)
>right as you're about to die, you meet cid
>who happens to be the ramuh dominant
>who also happens to be the leader of La Resistance with connections/deeplore all over the land
>who also happens to know The Truth of the Crystals
>who also happens to have taken in Torgal, your dog from 13 years ago
>who also happens to be the father of a genius ship engineer Mid
quite the coincidence
meant to write coinCIDence
tbf Cid was probably there just looking for Shiva, Clive just ends up being a bonus
powerful people and all that
taking in Torgal and Mid is what pushes it over the top for me
Cid honestly just didn't need to be related to airships this game. He's fine just being Thunder God Cid
He was actually wrong about the crystals.
Cid was obviously more of a mastermind than what was shown.
None of his actions were by accident.
Oh I forgot
>who used to frick benedikta
How is this thread comfy when everyone rushed through the game to the end to post endless spoilers on v?
Turns out the game is decent and pretty fun enough for people to discuss it, it's no masterpiece but most people have already beaten the game and currently move on NG+ now
That means they rushed through it. There are tons of screen shots, side quests and people to converse with, tons of conversations to listen in too, tons of side corridors to check for loot...
No cosmetic outfits means that we will never be able to dress Clive up as a catboy like we could Noct and Lightning.
Why Square
The cursebreakers and Cid are terrorists destroying the crystals will leave a society dependent on magic to die off. No way they can learn how to properly farm and tap wells before they starve or dehydrate.
Quite simply:
MMO devs = MMO quality = Do not Play
It in inevitable, because it is true. It explains everything.
Ok tendie
This tops Jedi Survivor at least for me. I love both, generally I just like action combat games, but the sheer amount of expression and fun I have with this really beats even the most kino parries I got in Jedi.
they're both the same unoriginal garbage
What recent games have original content?
