XVI is a good game with fun combat and incredible boss fights but is marred by forced downtime quests that are reminiscent of the ones you do in XIV.

It's ultimately subjective, but the story is general final fantasy stuff mixed with some serious got stuff. Although it goes full power of friendship halfway through. The action combat is ok, not as deep as dmc, but also not terrible. Your opinion on it will likely depend on how much you like action games. If not at all or you're really into them, you might be put off by it. You can't control the party members and there aren't many rpg mechanics. The Eikon fights are generally considered to be the best parts of the game, but they're between some boring parts you might not like depending on how much you like the combat and characters. There are a lot of side quests, but they're also side quests the game never forces you to do them. General consensus I've seen is it's ok, best game since 11, but that isn't saying much. I'd try the demo if you want to try it out for yourself and have a ps5
No idea on anything sales related to it. The story is just kinda there and is mostly forgettable, the side quests are utter shit, the music is great, and most of the voice acting is fantastic, I don't have a PS5 so I don't know how the gameplay feels, but it looks like there's more to it than 15's at least.

Aye, it obviously took lessons from it given well, guy that worked on 5 did at this, but then the eikons only ever add seperate abilities instead of too notably altering how you bash guys. Could have done with them being more like different weapons.

16 biggest flaw is that it uses DMC combat but it doesn’t scale the difficulty like it should. With DMCV the game is about 10 hours for the base difficulty. For FF16 it uses that difficulty for about 35 hours so it gets pretty boring due to it being too easy.

Feel like the game would need a proper large scale $40+ x-pac to make it actually good. Kind of too bad they aren't doing that as the core of the game is really good but literally all the extraneous stuff, side quests, gear, even leveling etc, is either absolute dated shit or so phoned in it might as well not be there.

I hate to say it but the demo actually had me double down on not wanting to buy the game. Titan felt so fricking ridiculously overpowered, nothing else felt even close to worth using in terms of stances, the combat was fun but on the higher difficulty of that second section it felt like you either went for what you were "Supposed" to and mixing and matching styles to stunlock, or you just force a stunlock with counters anyway and then big wiener slaps of damage.
I'm actually surprised how many people are talking about XVI, thought it would have been generally forgotten by now. Guess the fans were always there, but put off by the shitposts until news came out.
