Sony fricked the PS5 badly by making it hard to obtain to the general public, making people give PC a chance.
Steam and Nintendo are clearly the strongest platforms of this generation, and Sony/Microsoft know it.
I can add to this by saying that fifa switch version is conti uesly outcharting both ps versions here in germany and europe as whole. Almost all the Nomura driven content people were excited for like the aquarium ball, Insomnia invasion, Stella and the Ravus fight were cut from the game at Tabata's request and replaced with boring fetchquests in a lifeless open world with zero towns or memorable characters. You couldn't even zone out and chill exploring because 90% of the game involved driving in the car and every time you used the car or opened the menu the Yoko Shimomura's kino music she wrote for Versus XIII stops playing. It wasn't ambitious and it definitely wasn't fun.

The only ones that actually work are the ones where the game has a console level setting and it loses to the card he's drawing comparisons to by a noticeable margin. even at native, let alone when he forced the internal resolution down by 20% for some reason.
God of War runs at a native 2160p resolution at higher than 30 FPS on the 2060. Watch Dogs 3 also beats both the series x and a ps5 at 2160 resolution. And the console settings argument doesn't focus enough on how consoles tend to have completely customized settings that actually cannot be replicated on PC unless the developers designed it as such. Watch dogs is a great example of this.

It's not the devs' fault that 8GB cards can't run the highest texture settings, but it is their fault that everything below highest looks worse than fricking PS3 games. Some games still have decent High textures, so it's a non issue not being able to use max settings, but too often it's not really a reasonable choice to make.
The Last of Us 1 at launch was one such game, but after patches Medium textures look far better than High used to look.

Final Fantasy was a long time from the golden age of the SNES/PS1 era but that was the absolute nadir of what was once THE JRPG the same way Mario was for platformers and Zelda was for action adventure titles.
And it wasn't just oh here's FF13 and we move on with our lives, no, we had to get a sequel. And then a 3rd fricking game.
FFXV was, yes, FF13 Versus hype, but also the promise of not just the deranged blank check projects of a unhinged waifugay but something that seemingly embraced the central conceits of Final Fantasy. Coherent storytelling, a gripping plot, the inherent appeal of an adventure framed as a road trip with the bros.
And to its benefit, all the good stuff about it was very frontloaded. It took time out in the wild for its flaws to become way more apparent, and by then the sales had inertia that would take a while to stop.
I would honestly argue that for FF16's flaws, FF15 also probably did a lot of damage to the brand for the forseeable future.

Well, you can definitely tell that Jill is a JRPG ass character that sits entirely at odds with the Game of Thrones 'vibe' the devs said they were going for.
She's basically supportive waifu for the main protagonist, demure, stoic, quiet asian JRPG girl of the Tifa/Yuna mold. All her mannerisms, looks and character is 1:1 with that basic character archetype.
Not a bad thing either. I doubt having the main love interest of the protagonist be some opportunistic Game of Thrones prostitute like Clive's mom would have gone over well.

No true western performance and no jap lip sync that would match the idol posing.

Yeah FF16 is not fun to watch because not only the cutsenes are long but most people don't even learn the combat so all you see are people doing the same combo over and over again for 50 hours just like when people play DMC games and spam stinger from start to finish. Not only did they put Character Action gameplay in a 50 hour game when that genre knows they need to be ~20 hours and have focused, well thought out scenarios, but they put in DUMBED DOWN character action gameplay in a 50 hour game.
Even worse, that 50 hours comes from them saying "Well it's a Final Fantasy game so it needs to be 60 hours long" instead of any intelligent planned out thinking, so you go from intense ~20 minute eikon fights into picking up dirt for your hideout for the next 2 hours. Baffling.
