It's fricking amazing, actually. Did you even play it? Eggman gets a daughter and inducts Sonic into the Eggman Empire. Tails confronts his wishy-washy nature and affirms he's going to be his own hero. Amy and Sonic reconcile that they do like each other, but it's important for Amy to maintain her space and do her own thing until Sonic is willing to be honest with himself. Not to mention Super Sonic 2 and the entirety of The End explaining the Chaos Emeralds (somewhat) and the Chao, and their relation with Chaos (the character). It's never been this deep. It makes SA2 look like S2 in terms of depth and complexity and rich emotions.
