The grind for the build is filtering me. It's either grind Safi or grind to unlock the Metal Raths so I can actually get an elemental build. Burnt out already.
My understanding is it's technically doable with RAW. But I don't won't to go in with an undercooked build and beat my head against a wall unless it's actually a fun fight. And so far there haven't been many of them in IB.
I've cleared it 7 times with teo/brachy, ice attack 4 slotted in, resuscitate, blight resist 2 and offensive skills. On mantles I'll slot extra ice attack or wide range to help heal ret- teammates. A new set really isn't necessary for it if you have half-competent teammates, I even cleared it with only 2 other people.
Its not even technically you equip Fortitude and unga him to death with your usual build without worrying about element
It only shortens the timer to however long it takes him to do 3 novas

the element gimmick was a bit stupid but I think alatreon was probably the best fight in iceborne for me, maybe at velk but they added that a bit late
fatalis is cool in a cinematic sort of way but some of his attacks still feel a bit jank to me idk
I'm going to get a lot of shit for this but I honestly think failing a DPS check and carting once is better than failing a 35 minute quest timer. At least with the former you can still kill the monster afterwards while the latter is soul crushing. And I'm not even talking about Iceborne Fatalis but shit like Lao/Shen/Jhen
can someone spoonfeed me on how to easily beat alatreon? i can solo fatalis with sns in less than 20 minutes but for some reason can't even get a second hornbreak on alatreon, also i only die to the one shot, pic somewhat related

Oh and the weapon was a fenrir rose. Frostfang is the easiest "postgame" monster to farm if you know his moves and where to position.
Frostfang is way easier than normal barioth, less of a spastic moron.
This. A lot more of his moves finish near the player rather than the other side of the arena. Good fight.
Only players I've seen complain about it were lancegays (for a reason, to them the frost breath is kinda bullshit).

My favourite is still fatty, it's a lot of fun even if you've mastered it since it's incredibly non bullshit.

Alatreon's moveset and hitboxes are genuinely well designed, the eschaton is annoying but the majority of the fight is very enjoyable
