>New npcs have been added to certain settlements.
Having insignificant content updates to a single player game is kind of weird. Typically I will play the game and then its done. If I replay it, it'll be years later. So why make changes like adding NPCs in an update?
How many people beat FF16 say a few months ago and then still open it and randomly play it every few weeks for some reason? Most of the player base has moved on by now. Unless there's some large bugs to fix (which some of the patch notes are bug fixes so yeah those a fine), it seems like they should just be working on bugs or the next game.

It's not too uncommon for japanese devs to go back and randomly add in bits of cut content later on, no idea why though
A new DLC is dropping in 3 days
Does not caring about DLC for a game even though I finished it mean I didn't like the game?
what the frick are you on about
I'm genuinely asking if that may be the case. I beat FF16 but I really have no interest in any more content for it. There doesn't seem to be any point.
you liked the game.
no one cares about your opinion. our lives don't revolve around what you like or hate.
Schizo tier comment
I must ask the voices on the internet for guidance.
>I'm genuinely asking
Frick off back to redit you fricking lump
It’s normal. With so many games vying for your attention and hoping to extend playtime with RNG or tedious bullshit, it’s refreshing to have games that you can just finish and then put away without thinking about them again.
oh shit I was convinced it came around July with the ER DLC, didn't Yoshi said he would give us a week to play the ER DLC before dropping FF16's?
He was talking about the new XIV expac
Rising tide comes out on thursday
I kind of want Leviathan to be canon, maybe the reason why Joshua survives. Leviathan saves him or something.
god willing they patch up the ending/lead-in a fair bit
Origin should have been a way bigger commitment than a qte "battle" and MGS4 microwave room crawl, like at least give me a handful of Necrophobes to fight with Dion and Joshua before killing them both off
noted it, thanks!
probably to coincide with some side quests/epilogue stuff they're planning to add in with the DLC
is the combat honestly even good? Seems like it's kinda braindead
A little braindwad at first, but then you get Garuda and it starts to open up.
wth is a garuda
A giant sexy bird lady.
It could benefit from skill pre-sets. Basically, bosses have staggers and you can only really damage them during that state, so for boss fights, you want skills that staggers them quickly, and then single target attacks that do huge damage. Meanwhile mobs can be killed easily so the stagger attacks don’t get as much use, and AoE attacks and homing attacks are preferred. So it gets troublesome having to switch each skill manually when exploring the world and then when entering a boss fight. For actual combat, it switches from a base hack and slash when the boss is active to a basic MMO with skill rotations once the boss staggers.
It's for the definitive upcoming (PC) release.
Literally a new DLC in 2 days and probably some NPCs/dialogue to deal with sudden new content being available and for the content to make sense within the story. Jesus Christ, man. Is this a stealth marketing thread?
Prepping for the PC release
Is it worth playing at all?
people don't talk about it at all, for better or worse, outside of all the shitty
7R sales number threads
>people don't talk about it at all
when it came out it got shat on for 2 weeks straight, what are you talking about?
It's DMCV combat without the depth, the main combat loop consists of rotating your 12 abilities optimally like it's an MMO, and occasionally dodging (almost full second iframes)
there are no RPG elements at all, which means it's just a really bad character action game
the story is a self-aware metanarrative about "breaking free from the shackles of past Final Fantasy", or in other words, shitting all over the formula. Something it shares with VII:R.
The story is nonsense as a result, and even if you somehow stayed unaware of the metanarrative, by itself it's still a really bad aping of GoT, something that wasn't even good to begin with but only got popular because it's basically porn off of pornhub.
It has gays kissing. All the women are ugly and weird.
Worst of all it did this while presenting itself as a spiritual sequel to Vagrant Story.
>DMCV combat
it's absolutely nothing like dmc
>It's DMCV combat without the depth,
Idiot, it's nothing like DMCV. This tells me that you didn't even bother playing DMCV after normal(which isn't even when the game starts).
>there are no RPG elements at all, which means it's just a really bad character action game
Utter pleb. The less RPG mechanics an action game has the better it is for it. However this game should have had more RPG elements because it's an action RPG and not a pure action game.
>the story is a self-aware metanarrative about "breaking free from the shackles of past Final Fantasy",
That's Lightning Returns.
>Worst of all it did this while presenting itself as a spiritual sequel to Vagrant Story.
No it didn't.
Plebs like you used to get laughed off this site. Why do you even come here when your familiarity with video games is that low?
You tell him, anon
>Plebs like you used to get laughed off this site
They really never did, otherwise tourists like you wouldn't have ended up here.
Ganker has always been this way: the pretence of hardcore devotion masking the casual dilettante
It is not hyperbolic to state it is on the same level of 15 once you balance the pros and cons, take that as you will.
It’s j-action kino. Rpggays can’t actually decide how they feel because their brains short circuit when there’s no colour-coded enemies for them to deal with https://youtu.be/F53MfLFgdAc?si=wuFWvYnQjgF470lt
Yes if you like no nonsense action jrpgs.
It's trash. It got talked about during the 2 week shill period, because shills have to force the issue until their contracts run out and they move on to the next job. You will see some of these shills pop up again since a new wave of contracts went out to promot the DLC.
See
and
for obvious examples of the shills talking to themselves.
>single player narrative RPG
>2 weeks discussion period
You say that like it’s a bad thing, anon.
i still need to play this shit, i bought it when it was on sale and barely touched it, stopped some time after meeting cid
Why are all these changes making the game easier
The game needs to be harder, not easier
It's probably preparation for PC Complete Edition or something.
>A huge quality-of-life improvement added to the game is the quick-complete function for quests: After finishing a task, you can directly teleport to the person giving you the mission in order to talk to them and wrap things up. Some side quests have also been expanded upon with cutscenes and provide additional ability points as rewards.
When the hell is the PC release
When Sony stops paying them
PC version comes out next month my uncle is Yoshi-P
Can’t wait
The DLC is cool and all but I just want the PC version. No point buying the DLC.
Sucks that the secret S-Rank boss will be plastered all over the internet.
Is gonna be Gilgamesh or Sephiroth
Yoshi-P already confirmed it's not Sephiroth. It's probably Gilgamesh or Zenos
Gilgamesh would be boring coming off of rebirth and jack’s game. I also hope it isn’t a super ultima fight either. Hoping it’s zenos or diabolos
I wouldn’t mind a Shiva or Ramuh boss fight.
Now that I think about it the encounter designer for UCOB worked on ff16 so a true ultimate version of the ultimate fight does kind of interest me. The DLC director also mentioned Diabolos is his favorite summon and they've confirmed Diabolos was the original idea for Clive's eikon so he's also a real possibility.
Diabolos would be possible but that might also just be the "true" final boss/Clive form since it was mentioned as part of the initial concepts
Considering comments about Alexander leading into the game and RT talking place in a place that's aesthetically "frozen in time" I think he might be a likely S/S+ rank hunt if not part of the DLC story too
I wouldn't be surprised if it's Dissidia WoL or Themis.
If they're going for strictly XIV-pandering stuff, Susanoo or Ravana would probably be highly requested ones, but Gilgamesh, Shinryu or Yojimbo would be my first guesses.
It's Jack
Her body and outfit are anti-fanservice. Worst Shiva. Ugly Garuda, too.
You can tell how scared they were of being cancelled when all the woman are dressed like nuns and the men are all either hot sweaty muscle men in tight leather or cute effeminate twinks. Funny that they ended up getting cancelled anyways for having no blacks. Jote is still the cutest though.
Is she older than Joshua? I like the shota play where she teaches a young Joshua about sexual stuff. But I could settle for a pre-teen crush thing too if they’re similar in age.
Joshua's older IIRC.. He get's recused when he's 10 and Jote is 7.
Way to kill my fantasy, anon. Wait. The love struck servant who reluctantly does depraved acts with her master. I can work with this.
Don't worry anon, he was in a coma for 5 years so mentally she's still older.
>coma
Even better. She cleans his naked body while under but is too shy to do when he’s awake. Until that fateful night. I can definitely work with this.
I find it kinda crazy that they pumped out character models like this on an engine that didn't even have PBR when they started development. It makes me wonder what's next for that team since I can't imagine SE giving up it's first genuinely successful propriety engine in actual decades just like that. Hopefully they take the lessons of XVI to heart there lots of missed potential imo but not the worst thing ever.
At least, they had the balls to take a stand against Saudi Arabians.
>the game with too many boring NPCs that won't stop talking get more NPCs that talk more
amazing
I wish interviewers would ask them why so much of the game is dedicated to boring npcs instead of fleshing out the dominants who were all over the marketing
Anybody who's played 14 saw that coming. Y'shtola is the most marketed scion and has got as much character development in over a decade of expansions as a minor NPC.
MMO devs drop MMO patch
I don't think its an MMO thing. Fromsoft did the same thing with Valtr in Bloodborne or adding questlines to a few characters in Elden Ring.
>A huge quality-of-life improvement added to the game is the quick-complete function for quests: After finishing a task, you can directly teleport to the person giving you the mission in order to talk to them and wrap things up. Some side quests have also been expanded upon with cutscenes and provide additional ability points as rewards.
Why he FR*G are you just doing this now?
remember, FF15 had plot relevant cutscenes added as free update so 16 adding NPCs is nothing to ADDING THE FRICKING STORY in a free update
The difference being that FF15 was an incoherent mess even after getting 4 DLC's worth of story, while XVI is already finished and everything else is bonus fluff
>already finished
let's not go overboard here
Basically thanks for beta testing. PC wins again.
I liked the game. But the ending was the equivalent to ripping out the last 10 pages of a novel before you finish reading it. Really wish it had actual party members though
