im about to fight Odin, the one thing about post-Bahamut that I'll give credit to is the sidequests are less eye-gougingly terrible as you start to hit the end of story arcs, also there are some fun NM fights

Gouge is useless, just use Twisting Doom and the counter
Half stagger them and use gouge/air gouge to completely stagger enemies. At least that's what i've been doing.
you get garuda's wire at some point, it helps to weave those to abilities in.
When an enemy loses half their stagger bar they will stumble. If you you Garuda's grab ability at that time you'll pull them down for a bit which will allow you to get of a full round of gouge. It's very powerful when used correctly.

The attack does most of it's damage on the final swipe, so if you are using it outside of the above mentioned examples, don't get greedy extending it, and know when to stop using it before the enemy forces you to and miss on that last hit.
You use it to build up combo in staggers my dude, you should have other skills that can also build up stagger easily.

That's just incoherently chaining some abilities to each other. I would recommend to use Ramuh's trap instead, go for some ranged moves like Heatwave, go into Lunge to close the range while also charging your blade. Release, go into the air with Garuda, start some air combos like Gouge, charge Magic while you're at it and unleash Mega Flare afterwards. That looks a little bit more of a choreography than just mindlessly chaining stuff

Yeah, they need to give ultimate moves their own input. This is probably my largest gameplay complaint. Just make sure you can't spam them, they should be your big dick moves you use very strategically.

It’s unclear whether anyone knows about their relationship. Maybe he can’t/won’t talk about it openly. But it did come across to me as a weird oversight given that he was pretty affectionate in the earlier scene. Maybe Square thought they were pushing their luck with what they’d already shown or that it’d be overkill to give the relationship any more focus, who knows.

You cannot sort the Consumables menu, and the order is locked in the order you find the items (starting after prologue). I made sure to collect the Strength Tonic on the path to the Jill boss fight first, so it can at least be kinda in order.
The actual sort order is how they're sold in the shop, but it's impossible to get an Elixir before the strength/stoneskin tonics.

The battle was good, Barnabas just spends a lot more time than the other Half primed, he even flexes on Ifrit like that which was pretty hype. Very opposite of Dion who we never see half primed.
