If square was smart, they should have never made FF16 and Foresaken, and instead used that money to make FF6, FF7, FF9, remakes as the main FF games for the next decade. And remake Vagrant Story with the Team Ninja people. Just go through a period of remakes for games that you can argue the case for (old 2D/3D games that don't translate well) until you can figure out what you want to do for new Ips.

The twist is actually totally genius writing, taking the assumptions of the hero we take for granted on its head and more or less making the opposite of the "destined hero" kind of storyline. Cloud has a cool design, he's a mostly straight forward hero guy with a nice sword, with two girls on his side to romance, and a nice journey. His relationship with Tifa and his backstory give him some depth.
Turns out Cloud's a massive beta loser, he failed his life goal to impress her, but he ended up rising to the occasion and actually defeated Sephiroth. Would have died right then and there had Hojo not given him Jenova cells.
His story is pretty fun but many 7 fans seem to like the game on the most superficial level imaginable

Cloud also has nothing invested in the mission until he finds out Barret has teamed up with Tifa, his literal dream girl he did everything for. That's when he gets thrown into it and actually cares.
Maybe this got reconned at some point but in the early hours of the OG Cloud never gave off the impression that he was that invested in Tifa. He was ready to walk away after the first job when they shortchanged him, even when she tried to guilt him with the promise.

So, from what i've seen it seems like Zack's world is in Cloud's mind. Because all of a sudden we see our Cloud and Aerith be teleported there for their date and then vanish again. So aerith was capable of manipulating that world without any issue.
My doubt is, what can Zack even do at this point. The only thing i can think off is that he will help with the lifestream scene to bring Cloud back.
Everything from that world is just a copy from ours, it is like if they copy ans pasted everything. And marlene being there would be more about how she was always a weird kid and intuitive with things like lifestream.

I dont even think that's the case, the thing is how everything we have seen is biased because shippers being leakers is just awful. And most people will obviously pick Tifa, so everything we have seen is related to her. The full game will probably be more balanced.
Sure, the main game will be more balanced on screentime, but it's also objectively true that Cloud and Tifa have a more intimate story and arc if only because of their past and the truth they need to uncover, so I'm totally expecting that plot to be more memorable. But I mostly meant marketing and how Tifa was obviously kept in the dungeon before the demo, which is also understandable because this is Aerith's time to shine and her swan song. But fans want what they want.

I think it is also about something Nojima said, treating characters fairly dont mean these characters are equal in their importance. It is the same thing as if Barret was the most popular FF7 character, they still wouldnt put him on the front because the game still wouldnt be made around him. Cid is a goated character and someone I always had in my party. Vincent might work out if he’s Aerith replacement game mechanic wise with magic. Wutai and Rocket town were good arcs too. For frick sake, the last two party members weren’t even there during Aerith’s death scene.

I think Hojo at this point was just the quirky mad scientist that Shinra had lying around, so this kind of goofball scene of him having some relaxation on the beach work.
But later when creating the backstories for Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth, and Vincent, it's easy to use this mad scientist you made rather than make a new one. And he's what, like mid 50's right?

The twist is actually totally genius writing, taking the assumptions of the hero we take for granted on its head and more or less making the opposite of the "destined hero" kind of storyline. Cloud has a cool design, he's a mostly straight forward hero guy with a nice sword, with two girls on his side to romance, and a nice journey. His relationship with Tifa and his backstory give him some depth.
Turns out Cloud's a massive beta loser, he failed his life goal to impress her, but he ended up rising to the occasion and actually defeated Sephiroth. Would have died right then and there had Hojo not given him Jenova cells.
His story is pretty fun but many 7 fans seem to like the game on the most superficial level imaginable

Cloud also has nothing invested in the mission until he finds out Barret has teamed up with Tifa, his literal dream girl he did everything for. That's when he gets thrown into it and actually cares.
Maybe this got reconned at some point but in the early hours of the OG Cloud never gave off the impression that he was that invested in Tifa. He was ready to walk away after the first job when they shortchanged him, even when she tried to guilt him with the promise.

So, from what i've seen it seems like Zack's world is in Cloud's mind. Because all of a sudden we see our Cloud and Aerith be teleported there for their date and then vanish again. So aerith was capable of manipulating that world without any issue.
My doubt is, what can Zack even do at this point. The only thing i can think off is that he will help with the lifestream scene to bring Cloud back.
The fact only Cloud can see him is also sus. His existence is probably only mantained through Cloud.

They kept trying to hype up Aerith and hide Tifa even though everyone was asking for Tifa, but now one clip dropped and Tifa broke internet and overshadowed everything, just like they feared. I dont even think that's the case, the thing is how everything we have seen is biased because shippers being leakers is just awful. And most people will obviously pick Tifa, so everything we have seen is related to her. The full game will probably be more balanced.
Sure, the main game will be more balanced on screentime, but it's also objectively true that Cloud and Tifa have a more intimate story and arc if only because of their past and the truth they need to uncover, so I'm totally expecting that plot to be more memorable. But I mostly meant marketing and how Tifa was obviously kept in the dungeon before the demo, which is also understandable because this is Aerith's time to shine and her swan song. But fans want what they want.
I think it is also about something Nojima said, treating characters fairly dont mean these characters are equal in their importance. It is the same thing as if Barret was the most popular FF7 character, they still wouldnt put him on the front because the game still wouldnt be made around him. So people who got mad at Aerith taking the front stage had to accept how she's kind of the heart of this story narrative-wise.
Well Barret's example is a bit different cause he's not one of the 2 heroines. But it's just like in OG and its two halves, first part (Rebirth) is Aerith's time and the next part/game will be Tifa's

Me too. I have a feeling they will pull off something like Rebirth again: ending the previous game with crazy shenanigans but then falling right back on the rails of the og. I think Aerith will definitely be involved but in a more limited way, similar to how Zack was in Rebirth. And then the ending will be a big spectacle where she helps out and I feel they'll 100% end it with her smiling face again.
My biggest question is about what kitase said in a interview, how he would like to give them a happy ending, but in a way FF7 already is a happy ending. So what would even be this change at the end that would turn it into this happy ending that he's talking about.
