That they were making something incredible that would be just as popular as the OG and could be milked as their equivalent to the MCU. Instead they just split the fanbase and already had to shut down one shitty gacha game. The vast majority of people consume media as it comes, they fricked themselves by changing the story so much and making Remake have so much padding, that's it
I don't care I still enjoyed playing the game. But I also enjoyed Neo TWEWY, SoP and WoFF and they didn't exactly sell millions upon millions of copies. So who really cares about sales unless your paycheck is tied to how many copies of something gets sold.
