Icicle Inn contains Gast's research tapes, I would be surprised if Rebirth didn't include them. Great Glacier has a bunch of stuff going on with it like the snowboard sequence determining where you land to the dungeon itself being a maze with a hidden timer and sections where you're lost in a blizzard and have to manually orient yourself by leaving markers. Rushing through the glacier so you can watch more cutscenes instead of turning the area into an equally demanding gameplay sequence would be pretty lame.
You're not wrong. But still, the snow area except for the town is just dungeon up til you face Jenova Death and retrieve Black Materia and after that you almost immediately at Sephiroth's crystal handing it to him and the party and Shinra execs escaping. So not much of actual plot progress

People forget that Disc 1 and 2 of OGFF7 are the meat of FF7, Disc 3 is pretty much empty just copy pasta of Disc2.

Depends on how they go about it. You can easily skip Fort Condor and miss absolutely nothing. Corel is absolutely nothing besides the mountain and basically a campsite. Same with Gongago, just a tiny place with a few houses. Same thing again with Rocket Town, just some houses an inn and the rocket itself. Wouldn't take much to make those places. The real time consuming places would have been Gold Saucer/Cosmo Canyon/Junon/Temple. Even the Forgotten Capital isn't all that big of a place.

It seems to have big hubs just like the OG's world map was corridor until you get vehichles opening areas and finally Highwind and Golden chocobo to go where every you like. Also the devs have told you can revisit previous areas, but it won't be open world but I guess simply choosing to which areas you wanna return to from menu.
It would be nice if they make the area selection menu basicly the world map of the original and you walk around the world as a mini cloud until you find the area you want to travel to, select it and it loads the hub area of cosmo canyon or something like that and you explore it like we have seen in the trailers, idk something like that, i just don't want them to get rid of the world map

FF7R is typical anime cringe. The characters grunt awkwardly. The dialogue often slips into KH territory. And the tone jumps around between playfulness and seriousness in sometimes comical ways. All of this is tolerable to me, and comes across as an earnest attempt by the developers to make something fun.
FFXVI is a different type of cringe. The writing is grandiose, masturbatory purple prose that wants you to take it seriously. Everything is “dark” and “gritty.” But not in a fun way. Just a tiring way. Characters talk like Renaissance fair LARPers. It’s just not for me.

Rebirth has the benefit of being based on game much better than XVI, even if much of what makes VII good is discarded in the process.
I'd say rebirth will be much better gameplay wise and draw even story wise.
As a game, I think ff7 remake is already better because of the materia slotting, and party member control and customization.
Story wise, the presentation of FF7R so far is very cheesy, and uses cliche time travel mechanics that'll probably not turn out well later. FF16 has a better story by comparison but is dragged down with lots of unnecessary backtracking, cutscenes, and monologues. So i'd say they are even in this regard.

Regardless you dont really need it. Sometimes textures dont load properly in the slum sections, but i found that playing the game on an SSD loads them faster and more often. Other than that the textures look fine elsewhere.
Just mod your Tifa (and maybe Cloud if you want his Advent children suit or KH outfit ) and some OSTs and you're set

Some thoughts on Rebirth's tagline: "The world will be saved, but will you?" The most literal translation of the Japanese (守る世界に君はいるのか) would be "Will you be in the world that is defended?" In all of the FFVII series, only one main character refers to another using this pronoun (君). This is how Aerith occasionally refers to both Zack and Cloud.
