FF8 was contemporary art. zooms would never understand it.

This, it actually dealt with real issues and emotions that filtered millions

It filtered millions because the draw/gf system fricking sucks ass. If ffviii had old combat system it would be remembered as the best ff

Tacit admission that 8 is utter shit by square at last.

No one thinks its shit outside of FF7 brainlets who couldn't comprehend a plot with temporal displacement. They made a game that required at least 110 IQ minimum to understand. The only thing Square did incorrectly as assume that FF7 fanboys had an IQ above 85. So inevitably when the game came out, their brains overheated and they quickly put the game down so they could continue doing renditions of "One Winged Angel" on the spoons and wash rack.

Well they're not skipping a remake for this shitfest because it's good that's for sure. 8 is terrible and always was, this confirms it.

They would have countless metrics on their target audience and their IQ. They know exactly how to make the most money.

Yes obviously, by not remaking the utter trashheap that is ff8. 8 is the worst of the first 9, even 2 is better than 8.

FF8 is in most need for a remake. Its a very flawed masterpiece and has a very unique setting and tech level. All the schizo story theories are true

Draw system is stupid even for a 1998 game but i think only kids and teenagers played this game thats why there is nit a lot of hate.

The only criticism I ever hear about the draw system is "Uhh you can grind it for 5000 years like an autist to get 99 in everything and it breaks the game!"

If you want to be reductive yeah, but if you just look at the gameplay systems for a few minutes you can see how atrociously flawed they are in any context. The game actively punishes you for levelling up, but keeps this a secret, so experienced players can exploit it by avoiding level ups and rookies are unwittingly making the game more difficult for themselves by grinding the normal way. It's the most counter intuitive system you could create.
Even if you do start to get to grips on it you end up in a situation, as a normal player not exploiting, looking at your junctions spells and thinking "Frick, I better not use any of this shit." so you avoid casting magic at all and spend most of the game just using basic attacks.
Nothing about the system is good and considering the game was developed in a year, I seriously doubt any part of it was ever playtested or it wouldn't exist as it does.

Congrats on figuring out the remake culture. Companies aren't interested in remaking a flawed game and making it better, they are interested in remaking most popular, most liked games as a quick cashgrab. 8 needs a remake most but it's the least likely entry that's going to ever be remade.

But IX is by far the least popular of the PS1 FF games and arguably the least popular of all the 3D ones, only really competing with XII.

9 gained a fantraction after it was released despite initial lack of popularity over the years. Like how Metal Gear Rising gained fantraction over the years despite considered as meh when it came out.

I liked the part when you have to walk on the top of the train and enter passwords and shit, i hated esther and space travel the most because it felt out of place even for a FF game.

The draw system is bad. It should be changed. The whole fusing magic to your stats system is amazing. But how you acquire the magic and that when you use the magic your stats degrade is bad. There needs to be a different magic "resource" system.
And i dont like how there is no real equipment in this game, yes i know its replaced by the great magic fuse system but it feels a little hollow in an rpg. Getting new equipment is a little carrot on a stick and makes my brain go happy.
