So much of the game was cut off as well all because Kitase felt it was okay to let the team work on their own instead of supervising them in a way a remake could do wonders for VIII but seeing as how VII turned out I am okay with what we have.
luckily cuz 8 got multiple PC releases it has a lot of good mods.

even the 1999 PC version came with the Chocobo tamogochi mini game and patches/updates.
the 2 versions on steam are compatible with a shitload of mods, either adding more shit, rebalancing the game or adding higher difficulty levels.

Yeah pretty much. FF7 was my first love, I love FF8 for its own reasons despite it's wonky story and the shitty junction system. FF9 was ok, don't really care for the story or medieval art style. I don't think it was that bad. Especially when playing the game as a child. A resource which is consumed upon use is not typically equipped like a piece of gear. One would expect the junction to consume the resource somehow but it does not. There was also no visual component to this junctioned magic in the fights. It's just confusing.
Only thing I disliked about Junction was it discouraged you from ever using magic, because slotting the best thing to Strength and just spamming Attack and Limit Breaks just massacred everything in the game.
You literally don't use magic. You just farm Abyss Worm cards in the first hour so you can junction 100 Tornados to strength and then slaughter everything. The only use magic actually has in FF8 is as a stat booster and even then the only stats that matter are STR, VIT, and SPR.

Yeah pretty much. FF7 was my first love, I love FF8 for its own reasons despite it's wonky story and the shitty junction system. FF9 was ok, don't really care for the story or medieval art style. FFX was solid too. Everything after that is utter shit. I have never played a FF game after FFX because it's all MMO/active combat garbage.

A resource which is consumed upon use is not typically equipped like a piece of gear. One would expect the junction to consume the resource somehow but it does not. There was also no visual component to this junctioned magic in the fights. It's just confusing.

You literally don't use magic. You just farm Abyss Worm cards in the first hour so you can junction 100 Tornados to strength and then slaughter everything. The only use magic actually has in FF8 is as a stat booster and even then the only stats that matter are STR, VIT, and SPR.

the draw system is fine, main issue with it is bads turn it into a grind trying to draw 100x6 of EVERY spell before starting the play the game, not knowing that you can just refine spells from items and cards.
mods fix it by making it so you draw much more per cast, like 15-20 of a spell instead of 2-5 at a time.
