Dragoon and Red Mage, done it since day 1.
First time through I'll dedicate it mainly to the new jobs of course, so I can practice using them and the new weapon, then I'll start swapping around all the time as I always have to find out what classes are like. I'm curious how Bahamut will play, I just know there'll be several ways to maintain him almost indefinitely so that'll be fun to see.
Staves look really interesting, the range and mobility looks like it'll be pretty fun. I was surprised they went for it as a weapon choice but them revealing the jobs to be Summoner etc. was the missing piece of the puzzle and everything made sense after that. Maybe Gilgamesh's DLC will have Gambler or something like that, as a reference to the randomness he had in Dissidia.
He drains MP I'm pretty sure so all the current shit you do to help maintain MP would help. Hell, Red Mage literally just gets Magic Regen as a manual ability. I'm more interested in how Bahamut will work with attack cancelling.
That sounds like you're getting the version with the season pass instead of the base game, or something like that.
Im buying the version with the season pass, which is 90 dollars but when i go to pay, it charges me 107 dollars
Why? Is this some ps store shit? This didnt happen with other videogames
The article said that he drains max MP, but also that you can maintain it via attacking. I'm assuming something similar to the buff Cyclic Warrior's Soul of Chaos gives, so it'll come down to how fast it drains and if/how much it gets affected by any max MP % increase effects. How it'll work with cancels is also a good point. Maybe it just won't, but maybe you'll just instantly swap out of it to your other job, and maybe it'll be one of the jobs where if you equip it twice it keeps the buffs going so you can Chain Cancel and stay as Bahamut. DLC can't come soon enough.
Silly question, but your cart does only have FF0 in it right?
Yes
I still need to buy it but IM PISSED WHY DOES IT CHARGE ME 107 DOLLARS AND NOT 90 AS IT SHOULD REEEEE
How's Jack?
Chilling out on his sweet throne and larping as a villain so he can make powerful warriors of light. So, living the dream.
cant wait for all the new autism builds the new stuff they're adding will bring
not just the three new jobs but accessories and chaos weapons too
I'm not that interested in the new classes except for the physical dmg one. More interested in the way they're gonna change existing classes and also the accessories cause they could have cool abilities.
Did they fix the performance yet
Yes but only on PS5.
It works well on my pc now, I have a 2080 super which is not the best card anymore.
I have a 2070S and I can't get it to run steady without turning it into a blurry mess
>every job gets two sub jobs now
man, this dlc is a lot bigger than i thought itd be
I'm real curious to see how some of my favorite jobs play out with the addition of the subjobs. The accessories potentially having enemy skills on them is nice, but I wonder how the mechanics will work out. Will they be free, but on a cool down? Free and have limited uses per checkpoint? Cost MP and occupy a skill slot? Or will they just act like the normal instant abilities?
I'll probably rush through the game with Red Mage/Sage just so I can start checking out the new gear and difficulty and begin experimenting with builds. The Dragon Trials should also be fun since they sound like the arena quests from MH so I hope the rewards are worthwhile.
It seems like the accessories let you use enemy abilities in place of weapon abilities, but they still cost MP.
That'll actually work out well for the THF setup I've got that focuses on instant ability damage and break. I'll get to bring along something that's more general purpose and not be as reliant on what I can steal from an enemy.
Do we know if there's gonna be any more affinity levels or not yet? I've seen screens of gear above level 300 which likely means more affinity per gear piece so getting to the max affinity on multiple jobs should be a cakewalk unless they increase the cap.
That'll come down to whether they still count as instant abilities I guess, the game menu described them as "enemy abilities" specifically. It'll probably work out but I can't help but feel half the fun of that style is how the approach changes based on what you're fighting. 1000 Needles for 1MP sounds absurd though.
They haven't shown more affinity bonuses added to each one but the new classes (2 per job mind) get their own affinity bonuses on gear so it seems like they come with their own set too. I'm curious if they'll also count for the base job's affinity and I'm trying my hardest not to think of the potential hell of getting specific artifacts.
I could see them using that distinction between enemy skills and instant abilities as part of what makes the two THF subjobs different. One of them beefs up instant abilities even further while the other allows enemy skills to count as instant abilities. I wholeheartedly agree with you about the stolen abilities making you approach encounters very differently, though. That's part of what drew me to making that build after I finished my unga bunga Red Mage and Sage builds.
I really hope the subjobs affinities count for the base job as well since that's a frickton of possible permutations to sift through if they keep them separate. I'm also kinda hoping for the ability to change one of the affinities on an artifact at the smithy.
Yeah, I'm curious how they'll change up each class, they have so many different ones to do so I'm not expecting them to be super huge but even so that's a lot of scope considering each one does appear to change how the job ability works judging by the name changes in the trailer. I'd have to take a minute to think of any possibility for something like Ninjutsu for example.
>I'm also kinda hoping for the ability to change one of the affinities on an artifact at the smithy.
I've said it a bunch of times but being able to change any affinities on any gear is something I've been really hoping for as well, it's one of the missing things that are just plain necessary for the system to work.
The thing about indepth action games like this and Nioh and so on is that a huge part of the game's content, appeal and time is that it offers so many different options and methods to approach and play the game while learning and improving at it, and because of that you get out precisely what you put into it which is becoming more and more alien to people nowadays. People who just run through a game only for the surface level interaction might get a short experience, but the game offers so much between the weapons, jobs, abilities and how to interact with enemy movesets that sinking into that can see you playing the game for hundreds of hours easily and the game constantly feeling fresh.
i wish they'd add level scaling like in nioh 2
i wanted to play with my friends who havent started the game yet, but i dont want to kill everything for them with my endgame character
If you're on PC can't you just move your saves somewhere else and start fresh or is Epic that cucked?
This is definitely something they really need to address sooner rather than later. While you can get gear from the missions you're doing and put that on instead, that's a massive pain in the ass to manage and means you can't use the affinities you might want again. Considering missions in this straight up have a level that directly corresponds to gear level this should be the easiest shit in the world to add.
What's the DLC gonna be about? The Warriors of Light?
The Warriors of Light and Bahamut. It seems like the former might be a factor in each DLC to an extent but this one mainly centers around Jack and the squad meeting Bahamut and cutting some sort of deal with him, probably to help with training them.
First one has Jack fight WoL while showing him and his pals making a deal with Bahamut.
Second one is related to Gilgamesh in some fashion.
No one knows what the third is about.
This first one is basically the new WoL kiddies showing up to the Chaos Shrine and the Amano WoL is the only one that puts up a decent fight, and then Jack and his gang decide to recruit Bahamut into making the WoLs stronger with the whole rat tail job change business.
>This is the Action difficulty level. It's the minimum difficulty you can play the game on without being a young child or a games journalist.
>And this is the hard difficulty. You take more normal damage and more break damage.
>And this is the Chaos difficulty. Hard difficulty, but the equipment levels can go up to 300. This is the majority of the postgame grind.
>AND THIS IS BAHAMUT DIFFICULTY. WHERE YOU GOTTA NERF YOURSELF TO GET SWEET DRAGON TREASURE
I'm fricking hype.
Hard difficulty actually also gives the bosses more moves and some little changes like the Black Knight summoning 4 phantoms instead of 3. As if it needed to be any clearer it's the intended difficulty and the lower ones are tacked on.
The enemy abilities, judging by the trailer, act like typical combo abilities where they cost MP and come after normal attacks. To be honest while it's kinda interesting it's something I don't really care too much about since I like the way instant abilities are implemented already. Also I already think they absolutely need to add more inputs for combo abilities anyway so I wouldn't be able to fit them in.
I'm interested in the Bahamut class to see if it will be broken or not.
Also
identity of the collaborator is either Jack or the WoL. (WoL original FF1 name was 4 letters only)
My initial thought was that Jack, post-hijacking, had tricked the Lufenians into giving him their excess energy in some fashion. Not sure how likely this is, though.
So what is going to frick up at the end of the DLC?
>dlc lets you choose which character you want to play as in single player
https://twitter.com/fforigin/status/1548336908266192898?s=20&t=_1ORLdHISfbhTJ6BIF98Gg
IT'S HAPPENING I'll still play as Jack anyway
Wonder if that means other characters besides the friends are on the table?
>beat WoL
>option unlocks to play as him
STOP I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE KINO
Playable WoL would be amazing. One of my favorite Pixel Remaster mods changes the warrior/fighter sprite to look more like Amano's design.
>fight about to start
>you switch to WoL and have to fight Jack
Nah, it happens in the middle of the fight when their helmets come off
Helmetless WoL at least seems to be his phase 2.
I would expect this on dlc 3
We never really fought jack as chaos
NEON
the friends probably won't have as much freedom as Jack when playable
They re just skins of jack ,the only diferences as ai is that they re npc and cant dual jobs
Oh shit, that's awesome that they're actually adding that. Gives me a little more hope that maybe they'll add the stuff I've been mentioning that I've been really hoping for. Yeah honestly while I wanted it for the people who were after it it's hard to see me playing anyone other than Jack.
It almost certainly will just work the same way it works in multiplayer. They use the same gear and jobs that Jack has equipped, but visually they wear whatever the NPC has equipped, because they can only wear specific gear. Also they have universal Soul Burst animations based on the weapon they're using.
Neat.
Through that makes me wonder if we'll get new party members that can use the new weapons.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS REAL
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/604234043/#q604263581
The tweet seems to imply that you select beforehand whereas that 'leak' claims you switch on the fly.
Though I suppose we'll see.
just because they called one thing out doesnt mean its true
also they havent mentioned other weapons than the staff
dlc 2 is most likely going to have dual swords.
>jack starts seeing dead people
>bahamut is explicitly from another game
n-nomura where is this going
Didn't Nomura only do the story concept?
bahamut in SoP doesn't look anything like the XV bahamut or even the prototype versus one
This is bullshit, but I wouldn't mind seeing each character get a limit break of some sort.
I wouldnt doubt if jack starts seeing dead people like noctis was supposed to do
We know how nomura never forgets his ideas
I would prefer if he used those concepts that noctis had in a new ff game
But i wouldnt be surprised if he used them on jack
All the men already look like they were made in the same create a character as Jack somehow
why would I want to play as someone other than Jack
I like how the conversation about Sarah in Memories of Poison reflect on how the characters are :
>Neon says Sarah being a prize is not fair and that their reward for her would be for Sarah to be free of this, showing how Neon hate the curent situation
>Sophia has a similar opinion but says it's hard to change old institutions, reflecting on her battle against Lufenia
>Ash only think of being a king and the long term plan for it, showing he cares about the big plan first
>Jed only want the money after marrying Sarah, showing he's naive
>Jack is silent because he simply does not care
I found it less fun than I was expecting
Sage + summoner
is this game just Nioh with an FF skin? Is there a lot of content / FF style postgame stuff? Kind of interested in trying it out
Is more nioh like its just replay the game with more buffed enemies , better loot and unlock job caps and min maxing
This dlc add a gaunlet arena with challenges agains horde of enemies and bosses and reqmwards
Not quite. It has the same philosophies in having a great indepth combat system that offers a lot of freedom and variety, but it has it's own distinct mechanics and design to set it apart. Most likely if you like Nioh then you will like this however. Also similar to Nioh there's quite a lot of content available and many ways to replay stuff, but the game doesn't have all its DLC out yet. The first one is coming in a few days though and is adding a ton of stuff.
waiting for this game to hit steam so I can check it out, looks extremely soulful with time travel n shit
So
there's 4 missions
we have two boss : Bahamut and WoL
who are the other two?
who /axe/ here
Part of me wants to play Strangers of Paradise, but i'm conflicted. Some anons said it was fun, others said it was underwhelming and a waste of money. I've also heard it's short and repetitive, like I would get it but it'd have to be on sale maybe $30 or $40.
it's flawed but full of soul, if it connect with you it's worth.
When I played it I had not felt such joy playing a vidya since I was young.
I got it on PS4 on release but it was pretty cheap, 30 bucks
its a contender for my personal GOTY but much like the nioh games you have to get the appeal of autism core games like these so it was probably some neurotypical norms who told you it was underwhelming
these subhumans probably want the game to be some boring trash like souls or something like all the morons who hate the loot aspect of these games
I use sword/lance all the time, I should try something now. What weapon pairings do you guys recommend?
I find all the weapons really fun with lots to offer so you should really look into all of them at some point, but as something branching off of those two perhaps consider daggers/greatsword?
Time mage never ever 🙁
You want nioh 1 sloth again?
I don’t know what that means anon
Funny thing about that is slows already exist in the game, and Evoker's spirit looks like it can apply a slowing effect, though they're not quite as severe as Sloth.
In Nioh Sloth is a spell you can get which slows down enemies to an insane degree. It generally only holds up for the first difficulty but it makes for very easy, very unengaging battles that teach you next to nothing about how to play the game. It's essentially in there as a crutch for people that don't look into or try to learn anything about the game to actually enjoy it.
Favorite party member?
Least favorite?
>favorite
Jack.
>least favorite
Jack.
>least favorite
>Jack.
You mother fricker
In my defense, my favorite is Jack.
>Favorite
Jack
>Least Favorite
Neon
How much longer before this escapes EGS? I want to support games like this but Ill be damned if I'm giving Tim my money.,
Probably only after its 3 dlcs are done and they make a complete version, like nioh
complete version is only if the game sells enough sadly...
Yeah, he did the "angry man against god" concept in the early 2010s. but he didn't wrote or direct SoP. He didn't even do all the character design, I think he only did the main crew and Astos
>complete version is only if the game sells enough sadly...
I dont think so, if they port it to steam i dont imagine being hard to make it
I like how even if this game didnt sell a lot they are still doing updates to it
Like, other games would just release its dlcs without making any new appearance between its releases
probably a contract
but sometimes a team can still continue to do good shit out of goodwill only. I've played plenty of games who bombed but had a very good sipport from devs beside that
I know about the contract, but they could just release its dlcs if they wanted
The fact of them making patches and adding new features that we know how 90% of players wont see is cool
What did they do for 2000 years untill WoL arrived?
Bahamut shit and waiting
group masturbation
>other guys seething and coping about jack's dick being twice as big as theirs
Orgies as monster buddies.
your mom
That's what we're finding out. FF1 said they laid waste to the remaining Lufenians and generally started covering the world in darkness though.
THEY FRICKED ON THE BED
FRICKED ON THE FLOOR
Princess sarah gets literally no fanart and now lewds, life is suffering.
Barely anyone outside of Tifa, Yuna and Lightning get anything.
Sarah gets stuck being both a NES/FC bit character, but SOP not super taking off.
>He doesn't jerk off to her ingame
She's a closeted bawd. Look how she looked when jack told her he is going to abduct her to his rape castle.
Jack is a nice man, he would never rape
Honestly, Jack would probably be pretty awkward at it. Probably only for procreation too.
Is SOP the first time we got specific designs for her family?
Here's all the main timelines
>TIMELINE 1 : Lufenian exist only as a race in Cornelia. the world advance as planned; the Lufenian discovers a secret technology and change dimension.
>TIMELINE 2 : the Lufenian goes back to the past and start the stranger project, modifying the world as a sick experiment. Cornelian Lufenians also still exist and work with the past Lufenian (see Astos Bats), this timeline is one for more than 18 cycles, likely much much more.
>TIMELINE 3
Lufenian are forced to break all contact with original world and it resets again. Cornelian lufenian still exist but due to Jack, they can't advance like the others, making them the FF1 lufenians.
Why?
Why does this "game" exist
why not
Because this is nota final fantasy game
Its a cash grab
Not even a good game
Nuh uh
>final fantasy game
Sure it is.
>Not even a good game
sure it is
It's not DoC is a better FF spin off game than this
>It's not
But it is.
>DoC is a better FF
DoC was unplayable due to the poor controls.
Anything can be a FF as long it just has a very small checklist, the FF franchise always used 50 different genre and setting
Even the producers running the franchise talk how FF is simply the best game they want to do at the time
This is why this franchise is alive for 35 years
Anon, answer me one thing
Do you like FFXIV? what is a good ff for you?
Anon no everything after 12 is not final fantasy anymore
Not this action combat bullshit
>Anon no everything after 12 is not final fantasy anymore
The famous FF was good when my parents were still together
12 isnt an ff too, its a crappy prequel of tactics that was swapped mid development cause director got diarrhea
Does matsuno even finishes his games
Every time something like "he wanst able to finish the game happens"
Like vagrant story when he talks how 50% of the story was cut
Matsuno writing is atrocious
See how fft, ffxii and vagrant story tell their stories.
Always away from the main events. Always late to everything. Everything interesting happens to every other character except the protagonist. And hes fricking INCAPABLE to make a proper villain / protagonist relationship.
God i fricking hate Matsuno story telling.
>Always away from the main events. Always late to everything. Everything interesting happens to every other character except the protagonist. And hes fricking INCAPABLE to make a proper villain / protagonist relationship.
It is clear how he likes his main characters just being one more person in that world, if people like or dislike it i dont care that much
The interesting thing to me is how there is only two games that he actually finished
Because, ok if you think ff tactics is great
But threating that guy as a god of development is interesting because he always leaves midway
>his is not a final fantasy game
What even is a Final Fantasy game anymore?
for the chads to have fun
defiling final fantasy 1 with some 3rd person console swing and kill cuhrazy garbage is about par for the course these days
I wouldn't have pirated this if it had been a 1 gig download
Biike is underrated
He's one of the few knowing about the Lufenians and some part of the plans. Astos even says he's one of the few people who accepted him.
>Black knight armor has Garland motives
>Astos probably made it that way because he misses the true Jack
In french she is named "Proto Chaos" instead of Chaos Advent
Seeing how nomura loves his modern designs and even talks how he prefers something like modern fantasy makes me think how KH having those super classical designs is weird for him
Nomura didn't designed most characters here, the other artist are only credited in the credit though. There's a load of them
Also, Jack vs Chaos intro seemingly was supposed to be much more cinematic
I think it was ferrari, at the same time he is so nomura that hurts
Chaos armor remembers me a lot of Terra's armor from kh, it has the same mix of classical and modern style
About the intro, it is just an example how the budget for this game is small and affected it a lot
>Jack listening to Sinastra is canon
>sinastra
homie you dumb
fricking typo
The last two Jacks seem exploitable.
>this on the 20th
>LaL remake on the 22nd
>SMT1 psx english patch some time next week
>XC3 on the 29th
too many games wtf
You are forgetting other things like valkirye elisium, star ocean, diofield, crisis core and other things
Square is kinda insane this year
i was just mentioning shit from these next two weeks, but yeah i am looking forward to those games too
rpgchads cant stop winning it seems
I like that they are adding in new equipment types plus accessories. The base game felt really boring with the loot and builds, and farming anima shards got boring fast. Might wait on all DLCs so they can add more stuff to game.
to be fair, TN did this with the nioh games too
personally i enjoy going back to the game every few months just to enjoy the newly added stuff
Niohs endgame of upgrading your gear to max was more fun to do in each update than Paradise's Anima Farming to reach max level for me.
This game has so many cool concepts and approachs to the job system that makes me hope in a new game with actual money from team ninja
with the latest Dissidia fricking and SOP very lackluster sales ,i'm not very positive sadly...
I'm expecting an actual soulike FF due to Elden Ring success
>I'm expecting an actual soulike FF due to Elden Ring success
I dont think they need something like a true soulslike
This format works very well with FF, the problem is how it is obvious they had to reuse so fricking much from nioh in it, and even the cutscenes were limited by its budget
i mean nioh reused hella animations from DoA or NG so its not like this is anything new from TN
My biggest problem with the game is how the levels look
I dont really care about being boring
But i think that team ninja needs to focus a lot on the visual part
There is zones that if it didnt use ff13 music i would just believe it was a nioh zone
Some choices on the levels scream to me "low budget"
Like using a random mako reactor from 7 or the random hallways from a insomnia building from 15
Floating continent can win the most ugly visuals ps3 level ever made
We can notice how the money was for references but not enough to actually remake them in a cool way
Like choosing mt gagazed from all the zones of X just because it is an easy to remake snow level
>mfw sudden piss filter on screen
SE itself probably did not expected SoP to do well. They want to bet all their stuff on FF16, FF7remake and KH.
FF spin offs most of the time have small budget.
Isn't OO doing okay?
OO is a mobile game gacha and not by team ninja (and it's probably the least popular of the FF gacha, even if it's not bad), i'm speaking about NT.
I still think NT could be salvaged with some tweaking (mainly a proper story and ability to use more than 1 HP attack)
sadly normalgays have shit tastes and would probably rather play some boring shit like elden ring rather than team ninja kino
at least we got wu long to look forward to
What's with people still fricking acting like Nomura had any significant role in this
He was the creative director so the concepts of the story came from him
blaming nomura for my parents not loving me is a meme as old as the internet itself
hell, people still bring up the ol belt n zippers thing when it hasnt been relevant in like 15 years
>story ideas were his
>original concept was his
>character designs were his
>always interviewed when the game got press
gee I wonder
tbh Kojima always was interviewed for MGRR and a staff member of the game confirmed he literally was the promo guy only and did jackshit, the actual producer from the Konami side barely being known.
also Nomura only designed Jack's party, Jack and Astos
>tbh Kojima
k but that doesn't mean what I said wasn't true.
Consider the following:
just torrented 1.04 and still has major slowdown issues.
how is the performance now? i really want to play this game
Should fans of this game be called Jackbros or Strangers?
