You can't even just whale for more, if you bought every overpriced bundle they've done so far you'd only have like one and a half extra weapons of Mythril.
They need to rework Crisis Dungeons in general. The content is actually quite fun IMO but there's just stupid shit like having limited attempts per week, but no reclear rewards to speak of.
im getting bored out of my of grinding in this game, the OB system for weapon doesn't make it much more interest and it's literally whale bait.
The free gems are not enough and you're heavenly dependent on rng to get a costume you want, i just wished they at least added the costumes to the general pull of weapons
he's right tho. the first month/2 was tolerable since your power rose up with your characters/weapons/secondaries levels, and you could easily farm 3k gems pretty much every day
now? even including the events, you get barely 500 gems per day (basically 1 10-pull every week), and the only way to increase your power is by overboosting weapons.
at this point the only way to save the game for non-paypigs would be to release 5 additional character levels every month, but even then we are stack with the shitty exp 7 mission or whatever, so you'd need to farm it for the whole month to get 3 characters at level 60 (god forbid leveling up you secondary team)
and for whales the situation is even worse, since homies spent 10k+ dollars on ec only to have 2 dungeon nameplates and 1 sephiroth crash icon, kek. even the new 20 floors of the cetra tower are a nothingburger, since whales beat them whole in 1 hour, and f2p players already reach level 70 with a 160k build
basically, november will be make it or break it for ec.

Next story chapter is probably only going to cover up to Costa del Sol, maybe Corel at a push.
Vincent is months away, if not more than a year. Cait Sith is the next guaranteed VII character, though they could slide Yuffie in first depending on how they want to handle her.
If we get a playable Mt Nibel dungeon with it, maybe, but otherwise it's just a couple scenes and narrations. Gotta remember it's going to be a trimmed down version of events (which Crisis Core will also be covering), and the flashback doesn't have a whole lot of dialogue to begin with.
Arriving at Nibelheim will probably be glossed over in narration, then we get a section with Tifa taking them to Mt Nibel and the natural materia stuff, and another with Sephiroth losing his shit and getting dunked into the Lifestream.

Alright i skipped Seph ice wep and costume, i skipped Aerith wind costume and missed the refund, now there's halloween and idk if any of the costumes are worth to get or keep saving for xmas
It feels like it's doable for some f2p just depending how how you invested into certain characters and weapons and shit. You really want 2 strong AoE healers and the ability to get everyone in your team up to like 7k max HP or more. There is a DPS check but it feels way less tight than Sephiroth. I haven't pulled it off yet, and I'm about to head to work, but I would not be surprised at all if people pull this one off. Honestly one of the worst things about the Sephiroth fight is that it was just so early in the game's lifespan f2p players didn't do a lot of overboosting and it hasn't changed by leaps and bounds yet, but most day 1s are stronger now and it will continue in that trend

I'm talking about Crash. I know Sephiroth was only for whales and you know what, maybe Iron Giant will turn out to be. I've gotten pretty close though and really my issue is that I need to level up more/better HP weapons. I can only get 2 members above that 7k HP mark so it winds up that if my 3rd member takes an auto right before or after a big grand sword then my try is over.

There is genuine, quality fun, but is spaced out with a full time job of repetitive bullshit. One of my favorite RPG combat and character building systems in a while, but I actually can't be bothered to engage with it sometimes because running the same stage over and over and over and over and over again for the ability to try a different team comp is too big a price.

It's crazy to me how many gachas laucnh without skip and have to add it later. Running a stage 100 times is not a thing I want to do. I understand if you think it's worth that much stamina and I'll pay it, but it's not worth that much screentime, frick you.
This game is double fricky IMO because they clearly designed around and anticipate you using the 3x boost every single run of any given stage so when we do get skip, you're gonna need 300 skip tickets to get one set of items you want
Don't forget the battery drain for what is basically an AFK game. I suppose it's there to encourage the passes so people don't waste a much time.
I started playing Eminence in the shadow because of a damage multiplier hack, but now I have no reason to use it or waste time in it thanks to the skip until done feature.
Both games have the unskipable animation bullshit though.

1,000% there will be a part 2, 99% there will be a free costume bringing the total to 5. Lucia is the only one with no costume yet so I would suspect her getting something but for an event like this I think they want to prop up the fan favorites so I'd call her 50/50. Sephiroth as Kuja fits well and this game likes to jerk him off so that's something I would not be surprised to see. Barret Steiner sounds reasonable.
i leveled the original trio to 50s but sadly i sidelined Barret and Red due to their costumes being too expensive to get for a f2p, then i was moronic and used the free gear ticket on the Aerith one, what a waste
this is my build, i'm 99% sure it's doable with this one. if barrett was 55 i'd 100% beat it on first try, but i'm afraid i won't have enough stamina to level him up since i'm out of tonics
what you can't see is that i literally min-maxxed r abilities, so all 3 have 6.2k hp, cloud have 2.5k patk and barret 1.8k. also tifa has 1.7k heal.
i still have to run this, but considering i got him down to 10% with a team where cloud had patk lv7 and water lv2 and tifa only 1.3 heal, i'm 99% confident this is it

Yeah, seems totally doable. This is what I used to beat Crash Iron Giant solo.
I think Tifa's healing gloves would be a bit better in the main slot. Also it looks like Barrett has 2 pdef down abilities with the weapon+materia, might want to switch the materia for something with higher HP or ATK. What really helped me out in the end was making sure Cloud's AI only did his Water burst damage and not debuffing anything, so your setup looks good for that on him.
You just gotta make sure to not get baited into spamming patk down/pdef down during his buff phase after breaking, I always found myself dying because I should have used my ATB on a shield instead. There was 3 parts of the fight I found myself pooling ATB and waiting for him to do his moves so I could quickly counter. Every party is different, and it takes a couple attempts to get your timing right.

i had to use my zack weapon parts to get his banner weapon to ob1 (used as sub for cloud) and i replaced cross slash with judgement bolt since it did a little more damage.

I've been doing some really quick tests, not getting the most complete data, but I feel reasonably confident in saying that every 3 points of PDEF or MDEF is 1% damage mitigation for that type. So if you can get up above 190, you just have the defensive stance buff all the time forever. The two naturally multiply together rather than add, so you wind up taking about half damage. Building specifically for it is not really a good idea because you can get to HP +30% in about half the R.Ability points and that HP will take Magic and Physical damage the same, but it's definitely worth considering in certain situations and that +7 PDEF on your materia that you want to dismiss because it's not a % boost actually in fact is a 2.3% damage mitigation and a desirable stat. Tomorrow I will test out Barrier and Bravery levels but that will take much longer even by itself and then checking it against defense and the command stance and everything. I just don't want to do it right now.
To follow up, the highest PDEF materia I've seen a screenshot of is 10, level 7 gives an 80% bonus to your stat, so a whale with the right luck would have 234, about 45% damage mitigation. With the stance switch, 61.5% mitigation. That's nice and all, but the amount of effort to get that versus the 190 I have or just 60% HP? I wouldn't want to. Unless my barrier tests come up fricky or something, IDK.

It's all gonna wobble around the command abilities you need, the luck you had with over boost, and trying not to waste R.Ability points by winding up between tier thresholds. Also whatever pops up with Boost HP, the actual best R.Ability in the game.
i barely beat it. I used Barret and Seph's pdef weapons w/ tough barrier or w/e its called. I was getting hit down to like 500 hp every time. Then I heal and continue chipping down his hp until he died. Battle took 12 minutes. I might try ex2 before the event ends but judging from ex1 it'll be tough.

You know how when you're in attack stance, the icon fills up? When it's full it applies a stat boost.
These skills act the same way; when the stance icon is full, you get a bonus to ability damage.
The skill is already in the game on several weapons, you can look at the levels and shit and figure out if it seems worth. I would expect these outfits to give 10 points

last week (with the boost active) i brought all ob10 weps to 80, and all my 0b1+ weps are 60-80 too. overboosting is way more important but as long as they keep releasing shit banners there's nothing i can do
farming ramuh is a decent stamina sink, at least until judgement bolt level 5, and wait for the event for ob10 upgrades.

weapons have x points of r abilities. depending on how many points you can stack, you get a bonus in said abilities. first weapon slot gets full points written on the weapon, the other 4 give half rounded down.
so if you want, let's say, magic aerith, then as the main weapon equip the one with highest matk r ability points, then do the same for the secondary (if you have another one) and for the subs (if you don't have matk then use boost atk ones). check how many point in matk you got. that's the max you can reach. now try to optimize the 4 weapons so that you get barely enough point to reach the last threshold, that way you should free up a slot for hp or heal (for example, if you equip all matk boosting weapons and you get 44 points, because the next threshold is 45 and the previous is 35, you can easily drop 9 point from matk without loosing the bonus. and that means you can drop a 18 matk sub weapons to free up a slot)
if you end up with very few hp after doing this, so consider an hp boosting dress or swap some matk weapons for hp weapons
this is what peak min-maxing looks like, but you can't lock weapons for best equip, and doing this everytime manually isn't really worth it, so 95% of the time just use best equip. if you need to beat a very hard boss (ex3 critical threats) or farm the hardest seasonal event bosses for a long time, then it's worth doing the whole thing manually in a specific slot

Current co-op event will have Aerith with resist fire/ice/thunder r abilities because the AI does a terrible job in this battle and people keep dying left and right.
in general, it's better to boost r abilities then pure stats (unless you have to choose between ob0 and ob6 weapons). also if the enemy has a weakness, it's better to boost x potency then attack.

So my theory is that FFIX remake is real and this event is an extra promotion for the teaser trailer that was supposed to release around the same time but cancelled for whatever reason. All the collab costumes are actually modified from the actual assets from the remake, except maybe Vivi.
it's good if you want to level a specific character, 3x stamina in co-op tends to be better exp and you get more event resources that way, but the downside is that you have to rely on randoms not being shit

you trade any weapons part 1:1 for weapon medals. 100 weapon medals give exchange for 15 grindstone. that's it. it's a good way to save some stamina on enhancement quests if you are farming an already ob10 weapon for some reason (like the new rifle)

They're solid, but not high priority. Outfits so far come in 3 varieties >Arcanum (+35% damage for a specific element and half a tier of the an attack stat) >Mastery (+20% Elemental damage, a full tier of HP) >Other (+10 to 2 R. Abilities)
FF9 outfits fall into the last category which means they're something that can be entirely obsoleted with enough overboost to the right weapons. They're probably the best of that type, but that type is the one that is most skippable. During the event boss fight or in general? It seems like the spell spam breaks the AI so I find myself using manual and spamming Curaga while the AFK team deals dmg.
Noticed partners in co-op are hitting the middle Waltz a lot more often before Waltz2 (right one) is dead. This causes Waltz2 to counterattack with a strong AoE magic attack every time the middle one gets hit. Nearly got us killed so many times. So either the AI is fricked, or my partners are just fricking stupid.

Co-op in this game is a fricking meme, you either get braindead randoms who can't optimize builds for shit or you get lucky with whales, co-op should just be like other gachas and let us borrow units
I've had some utter shit runs in every co-op event, so I guess this one's no worse than usual.
But if you want specifics, the worst I had was with 2 frickers that didn't have a single magic ability equipped, so I had to drop BW3's gauge myself. And then they both blew their LB before he had the defence debuffs, but one of them had Radiant Plume equipped so it would've done frick all anyway.

the problem is that you need more exp to level up from 50 to 55 then from 0 to 50. when they'll add level 60 it's gonna be a shitshow unless you already have everyone at 55
i don't know, tifa is pretty shit as dps. she can easily replace aerith while also debuffing one of the atks and that's good enough for 99% of the fights (you can get 2 other dps with def down and you won the game). using her as dps is kinda a waste until we have weapons that scale with both patk and matk combined

It lures in new people who only care about the collab portions, makes the game look more generous than it actually is, potentially getting those people to spend (on top of using the “this is limited exclusive content, might never come back” bait), before switching to reality after it ends. They need to restock the mythril whenever the VH Dungeons roll over. I have 1 level 90 weapon because even though I have a lot of Mythril right now, I'm scared to be without it in case a great weapon comes that I OB a bunch. You can't even just whale for more, if you bought every overpriced bundle they've done so far you'd only have like one and a half extra weapons of Mythril.
They need to rework Crisis Dungeons in general. The content is actually quite fun IMO but there's just stupid shit like having limited attempts per week, but no reclear rewards to speak of.

at this point the only way to save the game for non-paypigs would be to release 5 additional character levels every month, but even then we are stack with the shitty exp 7 mission or whatever, so you'd need to farm it for the whole month to get 3 characters at level 60 (god forbid leveling up you secondary team)
and for whales the situation is even worse, since homies spent 10k+ dollars on ec only to have 2 dungeon nameplates and 1 sephiroth crash icon, kek. even the new 20 floors of the cetra tower are a nothingburger, since whales beat them whole in 1 hour, and f2p players already reach level 70 with a 160k build

It feels like it's doable for some f2p just depending how how you invested into certain characters and weapons and shit. You really want 2 strong AoE healers and the ability to get everyone in your team up to like 7k max HP or more. There is a DPS check but it feels way less tight than Sephiroth. I haven't pulled it off yet, and I'm about to head to work, but I would not be surprised at all if people pull this one off. Honestly one of the worst things about the Sephiroth fight is that it was just so early in the game's lifespan f2p players didn't do a lot of overboosting and it hasn't changed by leaps and bounds yet, but most day 1s are stronger now and it will continue in that trend
are you talking about ex3 or crash? because i'm pretty sure 0 f2p player beat sephiroth crash, but ex3 was doable, even tho extremely hard. from what i've seen, looks like it's the same this time. no f2p player have 2 aoe heal weapons at ob6 at this point. maybe if you wishlisted only the water sword, kept the gems for zacks weapon banner, etc...

I initially used the Curaga staff/parasol and Lifeguard/leather gloves combo, but that didn't prevent the Tonberry from receiving an invisible damage buff from the watermelon dimension, so he could start one shotting my characters.
Once I removed the dedicated healers, I was able to beat it ez pz.

bosses like that one are dps checks, the whole point is that you have to kill them before "time runs out" and he one-shots you. you aren't suppost to tank them
At the very least, give them with noticeable buffs such as an enrage buff or a fricking skull icon as a visual cue or something.
Still, that mechanic makes it so Aerith + curaga to be all healing you will ever need.

As I was mostly controlling Aerith and Tifa for pdef party up / patk debuff down / healing / etc, my Cloud wasn’t doing enough damage as he was also debuffing instead of nuking away. I took away all of Cloud’s utility shit, maxed physical damage and forced his AI to only do attacks is when the fight became much easier

Not in the slightest, unless you play on an emulator and set up a replay macro to play over night for you to level up less than a handful of weapons.
There is genuine, quality fun, but is spaced out with a full time job of repetitive bullshit. One of my favorite RPG combat and character building systems in a while, but I actually can't be bothered to engage with it sometimes because running the same stage over and over and over and over and over again for the ability to try a different team comp is too big a price.

It's crazy to me how many gachas laucnh without skip and have to add it later. Running a stage 100 times is not a thing I want to do. I understand if you think it's worth that much stamina and I'll pay it, but it's not worth that much screentime, frick you.
This game is double fricky IMO because they clearly designed around and anticipate you using the 3x boost every single run of any given stage so when we do get skip, you're gonna need 300 skip tickets to get one set of items you want
Don't forget the battery drain for what is basically an AFK game. I suppose it's there to encourage the passes so people don't waste a much time.
I started playing Eminence in the shadow because of a damage multiplier hack, but now I have no reason to use it or waste time in it thanks to the skip until done feature.

Lucia is the only one with no costume yet so I would suspect her getting something but for an event like this I think they want to prop up the fan favorites so I'd call her 50/50. what you can't see is that i literally min-maxxed r abilities, so all 3 have 6.2k hp, cloud have 2.5k patk and barret 1.8k. also tifa has 1.7k heal.
i still have to run this, but considering i got him down to 10% with a team where cloud had patk lv7 and water lv2 and tifa only 1.3 heal, i'm 99% confident this is it

Also it looks like Barrett has 2 pdef down abilities with the weapon+materia, might want to switch the materia for something with higher HP or ATK. What really helped me out in the end was making sure Cloud's AI only did his Water burst damage and not debuffing anything, so your setup looks good for that on him.
You just gotta make sure to not get baited into spamming patk down/pdef down during his buff phase after breaking, I always found myself dying because I should have used my ATB on a shield instead. There was 3 parts of the fight I found myself pooling ATB and waiting for him to do his moves so I could quickly counter. Every party is different, and it takes a couple attempts to get your timing right.

i had to use my zack weapon parts to get his banner weapon to ob1 (used as sub for cloud) and i replaced cross slash with judgement bolt since it did a little more damage.
squeezing enough dps to beat is insanely hard for a f2p player, but overall i like how critical threats are balanced:

I've been doing some really quick tests, not getting the most complete data, but I feel reasonably confident in saying that every 3 points of PDEF or MDEF is 1% damage mitigation for that type. So if you can get up above 190, you just have the defensive stance buff all the time forever. The two naturally multiply together rather than add, so you wind up taking about half damage. Building specifically for it is not really a good idea because you can get to HP +30% in about half the R.Ability points and that HP will take Magic and Physical damage the same, but it's definitely worth considering in certain situations and that +7 PDEF on your materia that you want to dismiss because it's not a % boost actually in fact is a 2.3% damage mitigation and a desirable stat. Tomorrow I will test out Barrier and Bravery levels but that will take much longer even by itself and then checking it against defense and the command stance and everything. I just don't want to do it right now.

To follow up, the highest PDEF materia I've seen a screenshot of is 10, level 7 gives an 80% bonus to your stat, so a whale with the right luck would have 234, about 45% damage mitigation. With the stance switch, 61.5% mitigation. That's nice and all, but the amount of effort to get that versus the 190 I have or just 60% HP? I wouldn't want to. Unless my barrier tests come up fricky or something, IDK.
Actually the testing wasn't too terrible.
Each level of potency for either barrier or Bravery is a 10% multiplier, but they are bundled as a full 30% at "High" instead of 3 separate instances of 10, which would have come out to like 27%. So the way it works out is
>Defense stance gives 30% mit
>190 DEF gives 30% mit
>High potency attack down gives 30% mit
>High potency defense up gives 30% mit
>Any 2 together gives 50% mit, any 3 gives 66%, all 4 together gives 75% mit
>A level 55 character with a filled in stat stream will have a base of about 3800 HP, some more some less
>Defense stance is free so using defense, buffs, and debuffs only accounts for 45% extra mitigation versus a build that doesn't use them
Basically, build for HP. It doesn't need any ATB and works for all damage types. If your materia rolled defense by coincidence though or you have a buff/debuff weapon equipped for the S.Materia or R.Ability then use it, it's good. Not worth chasing though.

This anon , back at it again. This time I tested Crits out real quick. Turns out, Crit and Crit Potency are actually separate modifiers! This means that you do your attack and it applies the 1.25 critical modifier, then it adds the R.Ability modifier. So you do 100 damage base times 1.25 for crit times 1.05 for level 1 of the skill and wind up doing 131 damage. This means that if you sink a whole build worth of points into it, your attack has a chance to do 2.75x normal damage. As for how "worth it" that is, I don't really know. I personally like consistency over the flash of big number but I see the appeal. If you combine it with my previous testing, that means if you buff your attack, debuff their defense, and then full strength crit, you're multiplying your damage by more than 4.6
Consistent damage sounds better unless crit damage bypasses defense or limits get a chance to crit.
I mean, if you average it out across a fight, it winds up a whole 15% DPS increase.... For 55 R.Ability points. Hard to justify making room for it unless you've whaled enough to max the better abilities. It's really just that you can't always zoom all the way out like that. Getting in some clutch damage during a temporary vuln state, or even doing something like killing Waltz 1 before the opening AoE to massively reduce the incoming damage is where this ability shows itself off. ...Sometimes

i barely beat it. I used Barret and Seph's pdef weapons w/ tough barrier or w/e its called. I was getting hit down to like 500 hp every time. Then I heal and continue chipping down his hp until he died. Battle took 12 minutes. I might try ex2 before the event ends but judging from ex1 it'll be tough.

weapons have x points of r abilities. depending on how many points you can stack, you get a bonus in said abilities. first weapon slot gets full points written on the weapon, the other 4 give half rounded down.
so if you want, let's say, magic aerith, then as the main weapon equip the one with highest matk r ability points, then do the same for the secondary (if you have another one) and for the subs (if you don't have matk then use boost atk ones). check how many point in matk you got. that's the max you can reach. now try to optimize the 4 weapons so that you get barely enough point to reach the last threshold, that way you should free up a slot for hp or heal (for example, if you equip all matk boosting weapons and you get 44 points, because the next threshold is 45 and the previous is 35, you can easily drop 9 point from matk without loosing the bonus. and that means you can drop a 18 matk sub weapons to free up a slot)
if you end up with very few hp after doing this, so consider an hp boosting dress or swap some matk weapons for hp weapons
this is what peak min-maxing looks like, but you can't lock weapons for best equip, and doing this everytime manually isn't really worth it, so 95% of the time just use best equip. if you need to beat a very hard boss (ex3 critical threats) or farm the hardest seasonal event bosses for a long time, then it's worth doing the whole thing manually in a specific slot

it's good if you want to level a specific character, 3x stamina in co-op tends to be better exp and you get more event resources that way, but the downside is that you have to rely on randoms not being shit

you trade any weapons part 1:1 for weapon medals. 100 weapon medals give exchange for 15 grindstone. that's it. it's a good way to save some stamina on enhancement quests if you are farming an already ob10 weapon for some reason (like the new rifle)

They're solid, but not high priority. Outfits so far come in 3 varieties
>Arcanum (+35% damage for a specific element and half a tier of the an attack stat)
>Mastery (+20% Elemental damage, a full tier of HP)
>Other (+10 to 2 R. Abilities)
FF9 outfits fall into the last category which means they're something that can be entirely obsoleted with enough overboost to the right weapons. They're probably the best of that type, but that type is the one that is most skippable. Arcanum are the only ones I would consider "must pull" but since there's only been 3 so far, you can't just squeak by on 36 stamps' worth of pulls, you gotta OB weapons, so you might as well pull some less great outfits if they're for a character you like

Not so far, no. The Buster Sword will apparently refresh every month now, but things like Mythril, materia, and all that just gets sold out. It's why I have a stack of 200 some odd Mythril but only 1 level 90 weapon; because I don't know when more is coming.

Sounds like you've got a shit setup and Ruinra is simply the best option you've given it. Mine alternates between weapon abilities and spells as it should (except Tifa's new one because the AI doesn't check the buff for some reason).

Noticed partners in co-op are hitting the middle Waltz a lot more often before Waltz2 (right one) is dead. This causes Waltz2 to counterattack with a strong AoE magic attack every time the middle one gets hit. Nearly got us killed so many times. So either the AI is fricked, or my partners are just fricking stupid.

I've had some utter shit runs in every co-op event, so I guess this one's no worse than usual.
But if you want specifics, the worst I had was with 2 frickers that didn't have a single magic ability equipped, so I had to drop BW3's gauge myself. And then they both blew their LB before he had the defence debuffs, but one of them had Radiant Plume equipped so it would've done frick all anyway.

i don't know, tifa is pretty shit as dps. she can easily replace aerith while also debuffing one of the atks and that's good enough for 99% of the fights (you can get 2 other dps with def down and you won the game). using her as dps is kinda a waste until we have weapons that scale with both patk and matk combined

It lures in new people who only care about the collab portions, makes the game look more generous than it actually is, potentially getting those people to spend (on top of using the “this is limited exclusive content, might never come back” bait), before switching to reality after it ends. There are a lot of gacha that do this.
