They are seperate from the story; there's no point in main story continuity where Aerith can hang out with the whole Avalanche group like in the current event. The characters didn't get amnesia in the summer event either. They only pulled that with Halloween because Sephiroth isn't supposed to remember Nibelheim clearly; in VII he just has a vague feeling about having been there before.
They should skip the portals and go for different timelines because portals are the exact same shit with extra steps.

The updates and everything cost probably close to 2 million a month. That's salary for staff, their share of the office operating expenses including management that overlooks this and the other games, and of course kicking money to the IP holder. The slightly trickier part is recouping the initial investment of developing the game where more work had to go in and no money was being generated, then there's the idea of actually making a profit on it instead of just treading water. Then the double tricky part is what's being shared with the other compilation projects and offsetting costs. This, more than most is a situation that's hard to guess at. EoS is not a near concern though

I miss going through story mode. I get that most gachas roll out story really slow and all but story is rarely a selling point. It's just there as a drip feed of free currency. This sold itself as the real FF7 remake, as the one stop shop for the compilation story, as the inheritor of the story that couldn't go into First Soldier, as Sephiroth's untold origin. I would argue that most of the excitement here was for story. The fact that all these months later we are just surviving on these crumbs feels insane

EC is good when it's not in it's own way. When you are building a team for a challenging fight and going through and actually playing the game, it's my favorite mobile game and high among the RPGs of recent years. The problem is just how much time you have to spend simply letting the game run and not playing it before you are allowed to play it. To get the level 80 resources and have full access to a build, to level characters, to get event currency. You can't even set and forget (under the intended play methods) because you have to keep restarting the fight so you just have to sit there and not do other stuff. It's like some mind numbing corporate wagie experience and it makes the game pretty hard to recommend.
The early game was also good. I enjoyed working my way through the first clear of just about everything from story to material stages. Really the chore is pivoting around the same power level from different approaches and again, the event grinding. If I do the daily missions for a given event I should be able to get all the high value items.

At first i thought the materia system was bad, but at least it's not as bloated as the memoir system of nier, see pic related as an example, now imagine have to do 3 of there for 9 separate characters for a raid (they're called subjugation in Nier) plus there's a new Karma mechanic on top of all that which basically means more RNG passives you have to roll for them

Seems like it, but until we know how hitting the cap works it's not 100%. If excess tickets go to your gift box like daily quest rewards, then might as well keep saving, but if they just go into the void, you'd be better off making sure you don't hit the 999 cap.

It's really hard to justify spending money here. An extremely dupe heavy game with very specific dupe number power increases.
I think the ability and stats should increase every dupe with a bigger boost when you go up a star. Also it's very unsatisfying for how little the numbers change per dupe. Add in the subpar pulling rates and it's not really a rush if you ever pull a gold. You need 3 minimum to be useable, 7 to be decent.
Time feels like it could be spent better doing anything else due to not having an autorun. They should just go all in and add more stamina modifiers. A 10,15, 25, 50x and have that count as runs for missions would be a quick decent solution. Also have quests use potions from inventory and remove the 99 quantity cap.

We might not get all the playable Turks. There was an interview where Nomura mentioned that the reason Before Crisis wasn't in EC from the start is because they aren't sure what to do with the cast.

Not weapon skins, weapons. The Wishlist system means you can make any weapon essentially featured rather than waiting on specific banners and only have to pull when it works for you. The limited thing is outfits. They can be had in as little as 3,000 crystals depending on luck but are hard guaranteed by 36,000 if you have the worst luck ever. After 91 days of playing I have 6 premium outfits as a f2p, so sort that in your brain how you will. The outfits do have an effect on stats so they are the biggest pressure to spend crystals in a given timeframe. You only need one copy of an outfit though, you don't have to pull it 7 times or anything.

My advice to you is pick like 4 characters and just hard commit to them. Doesn't matter if the new weapon and outfit that just dropped shits on the whole game, if it's not for one of your chosen characters, just skip. Your characters will get something equivalent soon enough, I promise. For sure make one of those 4 a character with AoE healing capabilites. These are Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Red XII, and Matt. >Cloud is generally top tier as a DPS, so him as a healer is a double edged sword. He enables you to stack up 3 DPS characters and just burn shit down while having that little bit of survivability you need. The downside is that the healing stat builds and actions spent take away from a great DPS. >Aerith is most people's go to be cause she is tied for 2nd highest potency heal in the game and casts that heal incredibly fast (Same speed as Cloud, faster than any other healer). You put that with a healing Limit Break to top you up literally instantly for no cost, and she is great at bringing you back from the brink. >Tifa has the weakest heal, but it only costs 80% of the meter that everyone else's des so she can mix it in with her other moves easier. >Red XIII has the best heal in the game in terms of pure potency, the asterisk on that is that it is a regen effect. Opposite of Aerith, does not respond well to "oh shit" situations. I would make sure one of your other characters has access to just a single target heal to catch someone who might be critical. Other bonus though, Only Tifa and Red have access to a "quick" limit break meaning it charges more than twice as fast as anyone else's and Red's debuffs enemy attack taking care of some of that healing load before it even comes in. For enemies immune to that debuff, he also has a barrier LB. It charges at normal speed instead of quick but it will always work. Same mitigation between the two.

It's a shame that it's too late for anon to become a Zack chad and use freebies to boost his attack power while still being one of the most useless characters in the game outside of maybe 2 fights.
I have Zack decently geared and Black Whisker is solid basically all the time. At OB6 an elemental weapon is gonna do 660% damage for 4 ATB. Black Whisker will swing for 480% but then start gaining ground with a 4* watera blow, which will do 287% but multiplied by 1.2 for the physical debuff, then by another 1.2 for the water debuff, and then another 1.3 for the support materia in slot 2 equaling out to 537% damage for 3 ATB. Cast them both a few times consecutively and you wind up looking at >12 ATB to use Murasame/Edged Wing/Prism Rod/whatever 3 times for a total 1980% >13 ATB to use Swirl Drop then 3 Watera Blows for a total 2091% damage
Really neck and neck in a vacuum but with the boost you provide to any other physical attacker on your team the value comes through pretty clearly. it will even buff up Murasame because that's a physical attack.
If you can put up with it and get the gear for the characters you want to focus on the rest of your play will be pretty straight forward and you might get lucky along the way with other things, but you'll always have your core team to fall on. It's really important to start strong like that so you don't frick yourself for the rest of the game. Hang in there.

This game is actually quite flexible, just play with it

This will be a decent summary of FF7 in the future. Right now it goes only a fraction of the way into the story and it will only update the OG story 4 times a year unless something changes. Treat this as it's own thing that is asking you to remember the fun times you had with 7 for now.
Still, unless it nerfs the %, Barret comes out on top. Even a 3* Cura is 93%. Fully all the way maxed out Fairy Tale comes in at 74%. There really does have to be some sort of catch to the All materia.

I managed to finish the farm for Steiner’s Blade after only getting two 5-stars from the actual battle. I bought all but one from the exchange. In contrast, I managed to ob20 Lucia’s weapon without spending any from the exchange.
These are coming a bit fast for my taste. FF11 also launched with a cap of 50 and increased it by 5 every so often, but that was about once every 3 months. This game is doing it like once a month.

This teaches me just to not trust community reviews. This game deserves "mixed" for sure. It's not a game I'd recommend despite it being a game I enjoy. A lot of complaints of just not being able to get the game to run, which is the first hint of technical issue I've heard about the game, some people mad that it is what it say on the box: Episodic gacha, and just shit takes like morons claiming that increasing the level cap is "power creep". Strikingly few of the reviews I read touch on the real issues at play here.
The "mixed" is right, but very much by accident. It is a stopped clock that is at the right time of day. Reading the reviews with the context and knowledge of a day 1 play, a lot of it is moron babble.

Not really. I have also seen the tests where it's a DPS gain to just spam Frostblade but the tester is being too narrow viewed. It's worth bringing to cast at basically any time you aren't at full command gauge or are in defense mode, plus any debuff on the enemy like Matt's Stingray or Lucia's Blade Eagle turn it into a gain. Don't trust these people to make judgements.

i also noticed something that redditor still don't know: there's a pity system on gacha tickets. sometimes you get a guaranteed 5 star on the last slot when you should've get none. you know this is a pity roll because during the animation cloud blocks the iron giant and recoils (which means 0 golds) but you still get 1 gold in the last sword sometimes. happened to me at least 2 times

Many of the tough fights have a DPS check where you have to have to kill by day 5 minutes or you just lose. So you need need need, at least one all out pedal to the floor DPS character. No room in their setup to accommodate DEF and bloated HP. You can set up certain characters like Barret to be just shy of unkillable but it doesn't mean anything if the boss doesn't attack him, so his cut back DPS is for pretty much nothing. The only benefit I guess would be making big, single target heals like Matt's First Aid or Zack's healing Vortex more viable, since they get low at different times
not really a tank build, but you need to turtle the last 20 floors of the battle tower. this usually involves at least 7k hp per character, barrett who does aoe pdef up, aerith with mythrill rod, etc...

As the level cap creeps up you'll see the gap in LB:Summon damage close and even swing the other way. Also, after some quick testing it looks like the LB potency R.Ability does not affect summons. It's not something you really want to build around, especially with current weapons, but if it shows up on an outfit in the future or something that might change things. The combo multiplier and R.Ability are separate so potentially your AoE limit break will be doing 2.31x the potency listed in the stat stream
That's encouraged with all the stamina drinks they throw at you. It's a nice change of pace from being time gated like a lot of these games tend to do.

Hell House EX3 is pretty spicy actually. Very early on there's an attack that will hit for about 10k raw and the enemy is immune to ATK down statuses. I'm like 90% sure the damage counts as Physical so unless I'm mistaken Barret and his Assault Gun are the only thing that can save your ass unless you can dump so much Ice damage that you delete the meter but I couldn't get it done with a 70k power Sephiroth with two support characters jerking him off so it definitely takes some muscle.
It's not terrible actually, but it is kinda counter intuitive. P.ATK sucks dick for this fight. That set of Christmas gloves you got for Tifa isn't going to stack up to Aerith's snow wand even with the lower potency. Also, the damage comes in big bursts, but generally has some breathing room between so you don't really need to minmax the Heal stat or anything. Basically just bring some form of MDEF down and as much MATK as you can muster, even if it leaves your team's overall power level pretty far below your normal standards
I think it's more likely to happen in the remake project, whether in 7R3 proper or as some kind of post-game dlc. In the DoC scene he says something along the lines of "we'll raise the curtain on the final act", and the remake was originally conceived as the final part of the compilation, so he could have something to do with the bullshittery going on there.
Besides, for it to happen in EC would require the game to not only last long enough to finish VII, AC, and DoC, but to still be going strong enough to be worth investing in another new story at that point. While I would love that, I don't see it happening. I think it's more likely we'd get young Genesis (and Angeal) in First Soldier, than actually dealing with anything post-DoC.
Between them closing shop with Opera and actually releasing EC on Steam, it's clear they've put all their gacha eggs into this basket. I think Ever Crisis is going to be around for the long haul. I mean they're doing a good job so far. EC is infinitely easier to play than Opera was and it's pulling great numbers.

Oh, don't get me wrong; I think EC will last a good while. But at the current rate of story updates, simply rounding out the existing compilation entries as it is will take years.
Crisis Core alone is shaping up to take nearly a full year by itself (the game was 11 chapters, and so far EC's adaptation is 1:1 in how it's divided). VII could very easily take longer, and that's without even considering AC and DoC, which would be required before following up on Genesis' cryptic bullshit.

Bahamut actually does really call for it on higher difficulties. By Very Hard the sigil count is 9 which is like barely doable if you spam 2-3 ATB moves only as all characters and go in with some meter, but you AI is probably gonna frick that for you.

Literally EVERY event will be this. Events could just be non-canon and separate from the story, but nope, they want "continuity," so they still have it linked to the current main story progress only to just give the characters amnesia anyway.
They are seperate from the story; there's no point in main story continuity where Aerith can hang out with the whole Avalanche group like in the current event. The characters didn't get amnesia in the summer event either. They only pulled that with Halloween because Sephiroth isn't supposed to remember Nibelheim clearly; in VII he just has a vague feeling about having been there before.
They should skip the portals and go for different timelines because portals are the exact same shit with extra steps.

I miss going through story mode. I get that most gachas roll out story really slow and all but story is rarely a selling point. It's just there as a drip feed of free currency. This sold itself as the real FF7 remake, as the one stop shop for the compilation story, as the inheritor of the story that couldn't go into First Soldier, as Sephiroth's untold origin. I would argue that most of the excitement here was for story. The fact that all these months later we are just surviving on these crumbs feels insane

literally nobody says ec is good, not even whales or tryhardcucks
EC is good when it's not in it's own way. When you are building a team for a challenging fight and going through and actually playing the game, it's my favorite mobile game and high among the RPGs of recent years. The problem is just how much time you have to spend simply letting the game run and not playing it before you are allowed to play it. To get the level 80 resources and have full access to a build, to level characters, to get event currency. You can't even set and forget (under the intended play methods) because you have to keep restarting the fight so you just have to sit there and not do other stuff. It's like some mind numbing corporate wagie experience and it makes the game pretty hard to recommend.

The early game was also good. I enjoyed working my way through the first clear of just about everything from story to material stages. Really the chore is pivoting around the same power level from different approaches and again, the event grinding. If I do the daily missions for a given event I should be able to get all the high value items.

At first i thought the materia system was bad, but at least it's not as bloated as the memoir system of nier, see pic related as an example, now imagine have to do 3 of there for 9 separate characters for a raid (they're called subjugation in Nier) plus there's a new Karma mechanic on top of all that which basically means more RNG passives you have to roll for them

It's really hard to justify spending money here. An extremely dupe heavy game with very specific dupe number power increases.
I think the ability and stats should increase every dupe with a bigger boost when you go up a star. Also it's very unsatisfying for how little the numbers change per dupe. Add in the subpar pulling rates and it's not really a rush if you ever pull a gold. You need 3 minimum to be useable, 7 to be decent.
Time feels like it could be spent better doing anything else due to not having an autorun. They should just go all in and add more stamina modifiers. A 10,15, 25, 50x and have that count as runs for missions would be a quick decent solution. Also have quests use potions from inventory and remove the 99 quantity cap.

if there was no stamina then it would kinda make sense that you trade time for power, but ,the main issue here is that IF your kusoge has stamina that gatekeeps you from powering up too fast, then there are ZERO excuses for not having a skip option.

We might not get all the playable Turks. There was an interview where Nomura mentioned that the reason Before Crisis wasn't in EC from the start is because they aren't sure what to do with the cast.

Not weapon skins, weapons. The Wishlist system means you can make any weapon essentially featured rather than waiting on specific banners and only have to pull when it works for you. The limited thing is outfits. They can be had in as little as 3,000 crystals depending on luck but are hard guaranteed by 36,000 if you have the worst luck ever. After 91 days of playing I have 6 premium outfits as a f2p, so sort that in your brain how you will. The outfits do have an effect on stats so they are the biggest pressure to spend crystals in a given timeframe. You only need one copy of an outfit though, you don't have to pull it 7 times or anything.

You can hide it. You can make any outfit look like any other outfit you own for that character. Weapons too. So if you want the benefits of Halloween weapons and Christmas outfits, while making your character look ready for the beach, go for it.

My advice to you is pick like 4 characters and just hard commit to them. Doesn't matter if the new weapon and outfit that just dropped shits on the whole game, if it's not for one of your chosen characters, just skip. Your characters will get something equivalent soon enough, I promise. For sure make one of those 4 a character with AoE healing capabilites. These are Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Red XII, and Matt. >Cloud is generally top tier as a DPS, so him as a healer is a double edged sword. He enables you to stack up 3 DPS characters and just burn shit down while having that little bit of survivability you need. The downside is that the healing stat builds and actions spent take away from a great DPS.
>Aerith is most people's go to be cause she is tied for 2nd highest potency heal in the game and casts that heal incredibly fast (Same speed as Cloud, faster than any other healer). You put that with a healing Limit Break to top you up literally instantly for no cost, and she is great at bringing you back from the brink.
>Tifa has the weakest heal, but it only costs 80% of the meter that everyone else's des so she can mix it in with her other moves easier.
>Red XIII has the best heal in the game in terms of pure potency, the asterisk on that is that it is a regen effect. Opposite of Aerith, does not respond well to "oh shit" situations. I would make sure one of your other characters has access to just a single target heal to catch someone who might be critical. Other bonus though, Only Tifa and Red have access to a "quick" limit break meaning it charges more than twice as fast as anyone else's and Red's debuffs enemy attack taking care of some of that healing load before it even comes in. For enemies immune to that debuff, he also has a barrier LB. It charges at normal speed instead of quick but it will always work. Same mitigation between the two.

>Matt has a heal as big as Aerith's, but it casts slower. He also has access to the exact same barrier Limit Break that Red does. Honestly there's not a ton else that will stand out to most people. There's a good amount of stuff that will be relevant once in a great while, but on a day to day basis his selling point really is going to be "Tied for biggest instant heal, has both the single target damage LB and barrier" I use him personally, but it is largely out of my attachment to First Soldier.
Beyond that I would strongly consider Cloud or Sephiroth as one of your main characters. They are both the poster boy of this game and wind up getting treats and goodies sooner than everyone else or more frequently as a result.

It's a shame that it's too late for anon to become a Zack chad and use freebies to boost his attack power while still being one of the most useless characters in the game outside of maybe 2 fights.
I have Zack decently geared and Black Whisker is solid basically all the time. At OB6 an elemental weapon is gonna do 660% damage for 4 ATB. Black Whisker will swing for 480% but then start gaining ground with a 4* watera blow, which will do 287% but multiplied by 1.2 for the physical debuff, then by another 1.2 for the water debuff, and then another 1.3 for the support materia in slot 2 equaling out to 537% damage for 3 ATB. Cast them both a few times consecutively and you wind up looking at
>12 ATB to use Murasame/Edged Wing/Prism Rod/whatever 3 times for a total 1980%
>13 ATB to use Swirl Drop then 3 Watera Blows for a total 2091% damage
Really neck and neck in a vacuum but with the boost you provide to any other physical attacker on your team the value comes through pretty clearly. it will even buff up Murasame because that's a physical attack.

If you can put up with it and get the gear for the characters you want to focus on the rest of your play will be pretty straight forward and you might get lucky along the way with other things, but you'll always have your core team to fall on. It's really important to start strong like that so you don't frick yourself for the rest of the game. Hang in there.

It's not some moral high ground thing, I just don't have the patience to do it and I find it fun to just play the hand I'm dealt and let it influence my play experience. In this game in particular I didn't care about the first banner with weeabo Cloud so I literally just didn't spend a crystal for weeks and weeks until a banner I liked came up. This game is actually quite flexible, just play with it

This teaches me just to not trust community reviews. This game deserves "mixed" for sure. It's not a game I'd recommend despite it being a game I enjoy. A lot of complaints of just not being able to get the game to run, which is the first hint of technical issue I've heard about the game, some people mad that it is what it say on the box: Episodic gacha, and just shit takes like morons claiming that increasing the level cap is "power creep". Strikingly few of the reviews I read touch on the real issues at play here.

Not really. I have also seen the tests where it's a DPS gain to just spam Frostblade but the tester is being too narrow viewed. It's worth bringing to cast at basically any time you aren't at full command gauge or are in defense mode, plus any debuff on the enemy like Matt's Stingray or Lucia's Blade Eagle turn it into a gain. Don't trust these people to make judgements.

i also noticed something that redditor still don't know: there's a pity system on gacha tickets. sometimes you get a guaranteed 5 star on the last slot when you should've get none. you know this is a pity roll because during the animation cloud blocks the iron giant and recoils (which means 0 golds) but you still get 1 gold in the last sword sometimes. happened to me at least 2 times

Has anyone tried something akin to a tank build?
Many of the tough fights have a DPS check where you have to have to kill by day 5 minutes or you just lose. So you need need need, at least one all out pedal to the floor DPS character. No room in their setup to accommodate DEF and bloated HP. You can set up certain characters like Barret to be just shy of unkillable but it doesn't mean anything if the boss doesn't attack him, so his cut back DPS is for pretty much nothing. The only benefit I guess would be making big, single target heals like Matt's First Aid or Zack's healing Vortex more viable, since they get low at different times
not really a tank build, but you need to turtle the last 20 floors of the battle tower. this usually involves at least 7k hp per character, barrett who does aoe pdef up, aerith with mythrill rod, etc...

no, you're correct, AoE limit breaks are useless unless if they come up with some bosses that have 3 homies in a row to kill at the same time
As the level cap creeps up you'll see the gap in LB:Summon damage close and even swing the other way. Also, after some quick testing it looks like the LB potency R.Ability does not affect summons. It's not something you really want to build around, especially with current weapons, but if it shows up on an outfit in the future or something that might change things. The combo multiplier and R.Ability are separate so potentially your AoE limit break will be doing 2.31x the potency listed in the stat stream

That's encouraged with all the stamina drinks they throw at you. It's a nice change of pace from being time gated like a lot of these games tend to do.

Hell House EX3 is pretty spicy actually. Very early on there's an attack that will hit for about 10k raw and the enemy is immune to ATK down statuses. I'm like 90% sure the damage counts as Physical so unless I'm mistaken Barret and his Assault Gun are the only thing that can save your ass unless you can dump so much Ice damage that you delete the meter but I couldn't get it done with a 70k power Sephiroth with two support characters jerking him off so it definitely takes some muscle.
It's not terrible actually, but it is kinda counter intuitive. P.ATK sucks dick for this fight. That set of Christmas gloves you got for Tifa isn't going to stack up to Aerith's snow wand even with the lower potency. Also, the damage comes in big bursts, but generally has some breathing room between so you don't really need to minmax the Heal stat or anything. Basically just bring some form of MDEF down and as much MATK as you can muster, even if it leaves your team's overall power level pretty far below your normal standards
The pro strat is actually wait 48 hours, grind to 65, and leverage the bigger stats

I think it's more likely to happen in the remake project, whether in 7R3 proper or as some kind of post-game dlc. In the DoC scene he says something along the lines of "we'll raise the curtain on the final act", and the remake was originally conceived as the final part of the compilation, so he could have something to do with the bullshittery going on there.
Besides, for it to happen in EC would require the game to not only last long enough to finish VII, AC, and DoC, but to still be going strong enough to be worth investing in another new story at that point. While I would love that, I don't see it happening. I think it's more likely we'd get young Genesis (and Angeal) in First Soldier, than actually dealing with anything post-DoC.
Between them closing shop with Opera and actually releasing EC on Steam, it's clear they've put all their gacha eggs into this basket. I think Ever Crisis is going to be around for the long haul. I mean they're doing a good job so far. EC is infinitely easier to play than Opera was and it's pulling great numbers.

Oh, don't get me wrong; I think EC will last a good while. But at the current rate of story updates, simply rounding out the existing compilation entries as it is will take years.
Crisis Core alone is shaping up to take nearly a full year by itself (the game was 11 chapters, and so far EC's adaptation is 1:1 in how it's divided). VII could very easily take longer, and that's without even considering AC and DoC, which would be required before following up on Genesis' cryptic bullshit.

Bahamut actually does really call for it on higher difficulties. By Very Hard the sigil count is 9 which is like barely doable if you spam 2-3 ATB moves only as all characters and go in with some meter, but you AI is probably gonna frick that for you.

Poison is so gay in this game. You either carry Esuna(poison) and watch the AI waste hundreds of ATB healing with HP with it or watch how a trash enemy almost wipes your entire party.
