Why is everyone complaining about Sephiroth showing up every now and then? This occurred in the OG too, the entire point of the post-Midgar arcs is to remind the player of Sephiroth's persistent presence. A bit on the nose, but otherwise preserving the original's intent.
Also the Zack stuff is getting intriguing now. Apparently it's exactly as it was portrayed in Remake and Zack had some divine-ass intervention deus ex machine his survival.
Whatever man, don't listen to these people. Sephirot's appearing is not a problem. There are much bigger problems with remake games.
Because it's overdone? In the original game, Sephiroth shows up occasionally whenever he's trying to achieve a specific purpose or when a piece of Jenova is nearby. In remake, Sephiroth shows up just about every hour to remind you that he's in the game just in case you have the attention span of a rodent. The original game lets you pursue him without him needing to mug the camera non-stop, while Remake is terrified you might forget who the main villain is despite him having significantly more presence that he does little meaningful with.
I understand the appeal of Sephiroth in the original and honestly believe that his whole design in remakes is a miss. It kind of would've been better to portrat him like something ominous, quiet and smart. Instead of a gay homosexual who always shows up to provoke Cloud in some way.
Yet I think it's not that big a of problem. Yeah it could've been better. But the whole Idea to show how fricked up Cloud's mind is using Sephiroth and his manipulations is not the worst idea ever. It's good too.

Because there are fans who just wanted a High Res port of FF7 and what they're getting is Square Enix engaging with the fans of FF7 20 years later. It's unpleasant for some people who don't want to deal with the passage of time.
That rather than enjoying a greatest hits of FF7 collection they're having to engage with a meta/ludo narrative about them playing the game. The most prominent way of pointing this out are the Whispers and the 2 Sephiroths. The "pure" Sephiroth who is not aware of the metanarrative and is just going through the motions and the "impure" Sephiroth who is aware his original plan is doomed to fail and whose true plan and goal is completely obfuscated still.
After Ever Crisis EOSes I hope that Square Enix and/or modders decide to reuse the assets one last time and reconstruct the original FFVII with some minor improvements like the Beacause retranslations and 60fps. I dunno, release it like Pocket XV, the "budget" version that is in fact what the fans wanted all along, decensor Tifa to be consistent with the original. Given the Remake trilogy also uses FMVs for key story moments it should slot together very well.
Yet they continue to market to both zoomers and boomers alike. The average new player has no idea that the game even is meta. They just hear ff7 has always been a convoluted game and accept the time travel without knowing it’s actively ruining the story. You genuinely cannot recommend your nephew or child this game because clearly the target audience is for old players who love everything ff7
I don't really like Remake but I already think better of this trilogy because of Rebirth. I still don't like some aspects about game and story design in general, bur Rebirth is looking like a very good aaa game, which is kind of rarity these days. The gameplay is good, the music is good, the locations are not endless industrial shit with sewers, and level design in general is much better.
So with that, I think part 3 should be an apocalyptic war with showing how fricked up the world is. Also it will be good if game will finally take itself seriously and Nomura humor will be transformed into a more serious, dark narrative. Shit must feel like end of the world with epic battles in part 3.
I always thought Zack Aerith shippers were full of shit, but then I would think, "Well, I didn't play Crisis Core. Maybe there's content in there that makes it really obvious that Zack and Aerith were always meant to be together."
Now I've played Crisis Core and holy shit they're nothing! There's more romantic chemistry with the Turk girl then there is between Zack and Aerith! The SINGULAR thing that makes them feel like anything other than just an everyday boyfriend and girlfriend is that Zack says his primary motivation for getting back to Midgar is to see Aerith.

So you're already intentionally misreading the scenes and will end up being hurt.

A lot of Tifa's developments that have been shown thus far didn't exist or hadn't existed at the current plot of the story in the og. The scar, the weapon, and Sephiroth trying to tear them apart, they weren't there in the og. And this time Cloud is remembering Zack on his own and this early.
In the og, Aerith's drama started at the Temple, then she got beaten and fles to the FC. It was memorable, but short. Or you can argue it started at the Cosmo. But she definitely got a lot compared to Tifa in Disc 1.

The flashback in dates doesn't show that part. How I see it the point in the dates was the established connection between Zack and Cloud and how both girls hid it out of fear. Cloud and co. work with Dio to find out who shot up the place, but have some sort of prison bracelets keeping them in check (I didn't pay much attention during that part).
The padding is out of control in this game wow. Like what is the point of this. This whole Nibelheim section reminds me of when you had to go through some underground bunker to get Wedge.

Why is everyone complaining about Sephiroth showing up every now and then? This occurred in the OG too, the entire point of the post-Midgar arcs is to remind the player of Sephiroth's persistent presence. A bit on the nose, but otherwise preserving the original's intent.
Also the Zack stuff is getting intriguing now. Apparently it's exactly as it was portrayed in Remake and Zack had some divine-ass intervention deus ex machine his survival.
Whatever man, don't listen to these people. Sephirot's appearing is not a problem. There are much bigger problems with remake games.
Because it's overdone? In the original game, Sephiroth shows up occasionally whenever he's trying to achieve a specific purpose or when a piece of Jenova is nearby. In remake, Sephiroth shows up just about every hour to remind you that he's in the game just in case you have the attention span of a rodent. The original game lets you pursue him without him needing to mug the camera non-stop, while Remake is terrified you might forget who the main villain is despite him having significantly more presence that he does little meaningful with.
I understand the appeal of Sephiroth in the original and honestly believe that his whole design in remakes is a miss. It kind of would've been better to portrat him like something ominous, quiet and smart. Instead of a gay homosexual who always shows up to provoke Cloud in some way.
Yet I think it's not that big a of problem. Yeah it could've been better. But the whole Idea to show how fricked up Cloud's mind is using Sephiroth and his manipulations is not the worst idea ever. It's good too.
It’s weird cuz Sephiroth was only this obsessed with him in AC so it comes off as very odd when this is supposed to predate that (if it still will happen).
Because there are fans who just wanted a High Res port of FF7 and what they're getting is Square Enix engaging with the fans of FF7 20 years later. It's unpleasant for some people who don't want to deal with the passage of time.
That rather than enjoying a greatest hits of FF7 collection they're having to engage with a meta/ludo narrative about them playing the game. The most prominent way of pointing this out are the Whispers and the 2 Sephiroths. The "pure" Sephiroth who is not aware of the metanarrative and is just going through the motions and the "impure" Sephiroth who is aware his original plan is doomed to fail and whose true plan and goal is completely obfuscated still.
After Ever Crisis EOSes I hope that Square Enix and/or modders decide to reuse the assets one last time and reconstruct the original FFVII with some minor improvements like the Beacause retranslations and 60fps. I dunno, release it like Pocket XV, the "budget" version that is in fact what the fans wanted all along, decensor Tifa to be consistent with the original. Given the Remake trilogy also uses FMVs for key story moments it should slot together very well.
Yet they continue to market to both zoomers and boomers alike. The average new player has no idea that the game even is meta. They just hear ff7 has always been a convoluted game and accept the time travel without knowing it’s actively ruining the story. You genuinely cannot recommend your nephew or child this game because clearly the target audience is for old players who love everything ff7

I don't really like Remake but I already think better of this trilogy because of Rebirth. I still don't like some aspects about game and story design in general, bur Rebirth is looking like a very good aaa game, which is kind of rarity these days. The gameplay is good, the music is good, the locations are not endless industrial shit with sewers, and level design in general is much better.
So with that, I think part 3 should be an apocalyptic war with showing how fricked up the world is. Also it will be good if game will finally take itself seriously and Nomura humor will be transformed into a more serious, dark narrative. Shit must feel like end of the world with epic battles in part 3.

But then he ends up spluttering and being flustered, unable to describe it. To which she calls him out and concludes she's someone special. All this much clearer in Japanese. So you're already intentionally misreading the scenes and will end up being hurt.

It’s not like I expected Cloud/Aerith to end up together this time or anything - I’m just stating that dropping the baiting and their canonical feelings for each other at this point is strange. She goes from in the love triangle to a distant stranger suddenly getting less development right before she dies, when it should be the opposite.
A lot of Tifa's developments that have been shown thus far didn't exist or hadn't existed at the current plot of the story in the og. The scar, the weapon, and Sephiroth trying to tear them apart, they weren't there in the og. And this time Cloud is remembering Zack on his own and this early.
In the og, Aerith's drama started at the Temple, then she got beaten and fles to the FC. It was memorable, but short. Or you can argue it started at the Cosmo. But she definitely got a lot compared to Tifa in Disc 1.
