It took me 11 years to beat Wild Arms because they rolled credits after you completed all three of the character's intros, and as a kid I thought that was the end of the game. I didn't get a chance to play it again until it came out on PS3.
Be warned, outside of bosses it can be quite brutal. The levels and enemies can be bastards, and other than opening doors and such for shortcuts you only unlock checkpoints after defeating bosses. Dying also reduces you to 50% max HP but you can find a ring that brings it up to 75%. World/Character Tendency is also a fun thing but I don't wanna spoil it too much.
Disregard this anon, he sucks dick. Roll a STR/INT build and steamroll through 90% of the game. Anon's pic related can even be softlocked into a position where he cannot do jack shit to you. DeS might only be difficult if it is your first Souls.

>if you do exactly what the guy on the internet tells you to it'll be easier
No shit, I just think you probably won't know exactly what to do if you're just experiencing the game and world for yourself and using whatever you want. Also I was saying the bosses aren't particularly difficult, but I feel the levels can be quite tricky in certain areas and some enemies might hit harder than you'd expect. I'm also assuming this is anon's first Souls.
That one was bound to be posted. Fricking Spoony man, I wish he didn't disappear and turn into a gigantic twitter-addicted homosexual. Maybe once he gets together with the Warthog we'll get year of the Spoony.
Spoony getting kicked out of TGWTG isn't really the reason why he disappeared. He funded a movie which gave him crippling amounts of responsibility, which he knew he couldn't deliver. The reason he disappeared was more about his bipolar II, depression and inability to keep any form of work schedule because he's a lazy frick and the knowledge that the movie he funded wouldn't be made. He also got payday every month from Patreon by doing the minimum amount of effort so he didn't even care until his life completely fell apart, the money disappeared and he was only stuck in bed tweeting about Trump every ten minutes.
Now he's out of money, living with his brother Miles again due to foreclosure on his home he bought with April, who left him because of his lazy self-hating ass is insufferable to be around. He is withering away in his room while he's slowly turning 50 within this decade. The era of angry critics are done and gone, so him returning most likely wouldn't change anything other than riling up some nostalgia for old fans.
Honestly......I feel it was for the best he quit, judging by his tweets, I'm sure he would have done what idubbbz did and turned against his own audience to fit in with the overwhelmingly woke crowd that composed his circle of former friends and acquaintances.
The draw system is kinda pointless by the fact you could get items through playing triple triad and manipulating the card rules by having it be all and get magic through the Card mod ability it saves way more time than having to draw spells from enemies while they hurt you.
I guess. It looks really cool. But FF8's story and setting are dense enough as it is, wasting the entire opening cinematic on cool nonsense probably didn't do it many favors.
It's the end of the game from Rinoa's perspective circling back into what got Squall out of time compression and brought him back to Rinoa (his memories of her and where she'd be waiting for him.)

I spent dozens of hours listening to a deep analysis of FF8. While I concede that I didn't understand the story or the setting's intricacies on any of my playthroughs, it's worth mentioning that I still loved this game. Maybe having a comprehensive narrative is overrated?
it legitimately is. lotr is a huge classic example, the history of the world is patchwork and that makes it INCREDIBLY fascinating. oh and it's written by a history and language buff go fricking figure
I need to give XIII another shot, but I remember when I started playing it on release I felt like the game just throws you into the game without knowing wtf is happening and the game wants you to read the codex or whatever its called.
>felt like the game just throws you into the game without knowing wtf is happening and the game wants you to read the codex or whatever its called.
That's literally what it does not even joking at least with VIII the story and plot were there but you COULD gather much more from reading/talking to certain people while in XIII you were forced to read.
Maybe for the most part, everyone complained about the memory loss and Squall's character because they didn't go out of their way to find out more. I guess they never took the SEED exams like I did!

No she wasn't. This was from the demo where they put Rinoa in your party instead of Selphie and Seifer.
XIII's lore was all in a single database in the main menu that was updated after every cutscene with several paragraphs of dense fictional terminology and had no connection to the actual game.
VIII's lore is squirreled away in different places in the world itself that you need to explore, included in actual side quests and different npcs to talk to and requires you interact with the world to learn about it.
Which is worse, especially the missable stuff. Like the explanation for Hyne is in a random house in Balamb which you visit before even becoming a SEED.
>Which is worse
The lore being out there somewhere and not a core part of the conflict is why FF8 works as well as it does. The game operates in the present scene and only steps outside of this with Laguna's segments, which themselves only exist to provide context for the characters in the present. The world building of FF8 is largely unimportant, all you need to know is that Sorceresses are tyrants, they have a Knight as their enforcer, and you're playing as a group trained to stop them, even at the end of time.
to be honest I felt all the "you forgot??" shit was referential humor to the fact that you, the player, are not gonna remember or give a shit about some literal who NPCs that spout 3 lines of dialogue or something
>Funded the Garden project >Rightfully angry that he was killed over a mission he wasn't aware of and Cid accepted in secret >Is deemed a "monster" for not wanting his project to get nuked and all the millions he likely spent making it
Poor guy.
Whatever ... Didnt he?
No he has no ill feelings towards him the only one who disliked Seifer was Zell and Quistis.
He was mostly just moronic. He sent the order for the assassination of Edea to Galbadia himself. Then proceeds to get mad when Galbadia used Balambs's own gays to try and execute it.
i always expected that there would be a second boss fight with him later on since he enters a cocoon after the fight
but some others of his species takes him away, oh well at least there was some closure with the random npc in the village lamenting his greed
I like the opening but it was fricking moronic. This allout ultra epic batlle to the death with final battle music was a training session gone wrong between guys who dont like each other. Thats it. No clash of destiny, no bad blood, no revenge, no nothing. >Ey squall were did your scar come from? >Was it war? Or did you escape death when the army hunted down your village where both your parents died? Or a battle with ultima weapon or aliens you barely escaped alive?
No it was a training session with Cifer. He cut me and brought me to the medical station. I hate that guy ...
They must have been disappointed because there is no romance in this game like they expected. Just rinoa being playful and seductive with squall a few times and a few wholesome hugs.

What is wrong with you?
Not in context to it's time and the state of videogames.
8 was just repeating the same thing but with slightly better grasp of the PS hardware and the blueprint already laid out in front of it. It wasn't near as exciting, and of course, the game fricking sucks as a whole.
Both 7 and 8 are great and that's he only FFs I played because the newer ones sucked from what I've seen so I refused to play them and the older ones are too old. 7 is more childish with simpler graphics but the world is vast, the story is long, the diversity of enemies is surprisingly high and the music is some of the best. But I find 8 to be by far the better game.

didnt he do something creepy and instead of getting "canceled" the twitter mob decided to just leave him to fall into obscurity instead?
Spoony getting kicked out of TGWTG isn't really the reason why he disappeared. He funded a movie which gave him crippling amounts of responsibility, which he knew he couldn't deliver. The reason he disappeared was more about his bipolar II, depression and inability to keep any form of work schedule because he's a lazy frick and the knowledge that the movie he funded wouldn't be made. God I miss his shit. Hate that his lost his fricking mind.
I wish they tried to do something like the Draw/Junction system again. I like that asymmetrical leveling, despite this attempt being quite flawed.
The draw system is kinda pointless by the fact you could get items through playing triple triad and manipulating the card rules by having it be all and get magic through the Card mod ability it saves way more time than having to draw spells from enemies while they hurt you.
I have no played anything past 8 so far but did Square ever do an ambitious system like 8 ever again or did they just play it safe?
It's all been same-old-same-old since. Vagrant Story can also go here for notably good ideas that just got abandoned by squenix.
What a shame because it has a lot of potential they should have looked at the criticism and revamp it instead of throwing it away.
In retrospect this opening is stupid and cryptic. It makes no sense.
I'm not at all shocked to learn it was entirely made by Nomura because it's literally a KH cutscene which also make no sense.
Rule of cool
I guess. It looks really cool. But FF8's story and setting are dense enough as it is, wasting the entire opening cinematic on cool nonsense probably didn't do it many favors.
Thoughts on this unused intro of VIII?
Wasn't that from a trailer or something? I am pretty sure I've seen this before.
I do not have knowledge about that.
Isn't that the tv ad or a longer version of the footage used in it? It looks like the ad that played late night back during release.
>he gets confused and enraged by a final fantasy intro
The IQ on this board gets lower with each passing day.

Man this OP had me so hyped. Then the game ran at like 10 FPS.
It is pretty ok when using RPCS3 with a 60fps patch though
At the end of the day was he really in the wrong?
Jews are always wrong
Money is a means, not an end.
He was criminally murdered in cold blood. I was shocked by what the "protagonists" casually did.
He was fricked over by Cid, but ordering everyone (including children) loyal to Cid to be murdered was a bit much

almost killed over a mission*
>but ordering everyone (including children) loyal to Cid to be murdered was a bit much
But Cid is the reason they almost died.
That mission was the entire reason Garden was started
NORG (and his money) was a necessary sacrifice to save all of existence
He was mostly just moronic. He sent the order for the assassination of Edea to Galbadia himself. Then proceeds to get mad when Galbadia used Balambs's own gays to try and execute it.
He doesn't die in any case. He just evolves into something else that we never see.

I am a bit surprised to find out majority of people who made a playthrough for 8 on youtube are women.
doesn't surprise me at all, it's the most love central story FF game
One of the main critics of the game was said romance but those females really love it.
They must have been disappointed because there is no romance in this game like they expected. Just rinoa being playful and seductive with squall a few times and a few wholesome hugs.
Nah, they loved it a lot one of them cried seeing Squall smile to Riona.

Ah, the best Zelda game.
Is FF8 the most forgetable final fantasy ever??
It is between the most memorable final fantasy and the best final fantasy.
How? It's the third most sold entry.
