I love the acknowledgement that the only reason why this garbage game got popularity and attention is because of WoW migrants. It's only credentials as an MMO is that Square Enix isn't quite as scummy as Activision-Blizzard. I have my hopes in some of the indie projects coming out that might serve to lead MMOs back out of the woods, but right now MMOs are an absolutely fallen genre.

Real talk, has Hanwiener ever once given the Scions reason to distrust him? Or does all distrust just come from the fact he works for Lolorito? Because I feel like that's not enough to judge him when the guy works two whole continents away and probably meets with his boss once or twice a decade.

in reality ginormous hitboxes are one of the least shit decisions they've made in 6.x, because it's a necessary bandaid for the shitty 2 minute burst meta. they're dead afraid of making players lose uptime this expansion, but when boss hitboxes are small you have garbage like phoinix where you just stack dead center and smack its ass for 99% of the fight, so might as well make the hitbox huge and use a bigger portion of the arena for mechanics

and jobs have really wonky DPS at lower levels because they don't really balance around those level ranges
That doesn't work for savages where if you have more deaths than two healers with their swiftcasts can handle, your team is probably not good enough to meet enrages with that many damage downs, or they're failing mechanics that will take other people with them.
Better to have a BLM and then the extra damage they provide gives a better buffer for clearing enrage with more deaths than another rez but worse damage would.
Tataru's quest is so much better than the MSQ.
Hydaelyn how I wish I could have just told Estinien that helping Tataru set up her mercantile empire would help the thavnairian orphans just as well. The striking set for Deltascape looks like crap, the Final Fantasy Tactics samurai armor is from the female job sprites to avoid using the more typical armor from males, and the Dai-ryumyaku set is blatantly for Monk and not Samurai

And it's such a good repop of the Myochin stuff from FFXI too. I want it so fricking bad, there was SOME work done on it for it to fit other races instead of being purely for hyurs. When they only want one specific character to wear an armor-set it'll be locked to that race/gender combination and look weird on anybody but them wearing it, like Estinien's HW bloodied armor or Zero's armor and hat, but you can assign Tenzen's gear to yourself and it'll look more or less good on every race that uses the Hyur skeleton (which is almost all of them), and only be buggy on Roegadyn, Hrothgar and Lalafell. The fact that it fits those latter three at all is the part that proves there was some work on it being a player set before it got dropped.

Deltascape striking is imo still your best bet for that. I like the dragon kabuto from Heavensturn for actual looks but it's so old that its textures are wildly out of date. The tiger one is acceptable too.

That said, the story gets better, but the playstyle remains the same. You have roughly 800 hours of running between cutscenes and killing three goblins.
FFXIV was the origin for the "it gets good after 50hrs" meme. ARR get's good for a small period then goes back to shitty chores until you hit 2.3 or 2.4 (cant remember). If you are not having a good time by Heavens Ward, drop the game.

honestly, the only tricky part is getting used to gale spheres 2. getting to practice that was a pain in the ass because people kept fricking up meteor towers, but later parties i joined would have their waymarks set up differently. some would have a mark exactly in the center, so it's easy to align yourself either in your kb direction or directly mid if you're healer. others would just have four marks right next to the corner of the mid circle, so that the healer could run at their intersection and everyone else could stand around them and get knocked back correctly.
once that was down, it's really not that hard to get to gale 2 to practice. it's mostly the same as gale 1, which is easy. the only time you need to worry about the extra stuff is on the 1st and last hit. i treat it like four fold fires from p8s and take it one step at a time. This is safe for the first hit. This is where I'm stacking. This is safe for second. This is safe for third. this is safe for fourth. This is where I stack. If you break it down into steps instead of try to solve the whole mechanic at once in your head it helps a lot.
The dps check is VERY forgiving. When I cleared everyone in my party died at the very end except for me and two tanks, and we managed to burn down the last 3-4% HP with just melee LB and us smacking him before the enrage.

And it's such a good repop of the Myochin stuff from FFXI too. I want it so fricking bad, there was SOME work done on it for it to fit other races instead of being purely for hyurs. When they only want one specific character to wear an armor-set it'll be locked to that race/gender combination and look weird on anybody but them wearing it, like Estinien's HW bloodied armor or Zero's armor and hat, but you can assign Tenzen's gear to yourself and it'll look more or less good on every race that uses the Hyur skeleton (which is almost all of them), and only be buggy on Roegadyn, Hrothgar and Lalafell. The fact that it fits those latter three at all is the part that proves there was some work on it being a player set before it got dropped.
I just want every XI AF set imported, and Aht Urhgan gear too.

honestly, the only tricky part is getting used to gale spheres 2. getting to practice that was a pain in the ass because people kept fricking up meteor towers, but later parties i joined would have their waymarks set up differently. some would have a mark exactly in the center, so it's easy to align yourself either in your kb direction or directly mid if you're healer. others would just have four marks right next to the corner of the mid circle, so that the healer could run at their intersection and everyone else could stand around them and get knocked back correctly.
once that was down, it's really not that hard to get to gale 2 to practice. it's mostly the same as gale 1, which is easy. the only time you need to worry about the extra stuff is on the 1st and last hit. i treat it like four fold fires from p8s and take it one step at a time. This is safe for the first hit. This is where I'm stacking. This is safe for second. This is safe for third. this is safe for fourth. This is where I stack. If you break it down into steps instead of try to solve the whole mechanic at once in your head it helps a lot.
The dps check is VERY forgiving. When I cleared everyone in my party died at the very end except for me and two tanks, and we managed to burn down the last 3-4% HP with just melee LB and us smacking him before the enrage.
