xiv suffers at the low levels but so does every other rpg and mmorpg
wowie, instead of 3 buttons i press 5 buttons!
riveting gameplay
>stale rotations
>30 buttons, but they're all inconsequential
>most skills are the same, but with different numbers
FFXIV combat is shit. Leveling Altjobs is shit. Dungeons are shit. The game is better at lower levels, actually.
>stale rotations
the throat tightened cry of FFXIV's own version of the WoW maze. i've played for ten years and now i'm bored, this is the game's fault. absolutely baffling opinion
High level gameplay is also boring as sin though, dungeons don't get better they literally get worse. Raids are suffering cause you have to deal with 7 other idiots not messing up the mechanics. I could go on.
TP was a bar like HP or MP, we had it pre-Shadowbringers and it acted like mana for physical attacks. Yet another aspect of gameplay that was shaved off in favor of mindless tedium and mediocrity.
Ah yes, because every Job being effectively a resource-management caster despite of role was SO much better.
>High level gameplay is also boring as sin though, dungeons don't get better they literally get worse. Raids are suffering cause you have to deal with 7 other idiots not messing up the mechanics. I could go on.
stop playing a game you don't enjoy anymore lol it's that easy
Not him, but I actually stopped.
I stopped after Endwalker.
I think the modding scene getting bigger than ever says a lot about how boring the remaining content is.
This post was carefully formulated to be as mindbogglingly stupid as possible. I respond to this post to serve as a warning to anyone who might make the mistake of responding in the future.
One step ahead of you, I'm subbed 1 month out of the year for moonfire tower, now that Endwalker wrapped up the MSQ I'm probably not gonna bother buying the new expac unless they add a jumping puzzle. Haven't played regularly since when I was running the last savage tier for SHB.
They don't design new jobs with level sync in mind, nor do the balance for old content, or even check if a job has any sort of endgoal in level sync content.
Dark Knight is a collection of random skills until lv 70, which is weird considering its a Heavensward job (lv60) but you start playing it at lv 30.
Less we talk about RPR the better.
Yeah, but FFXIV isn't either, so that's not a good excuse
I don't care for the usual shitflinging but WoW Classic is an exception to this.
What should be done is that all miqote girls should be pumped up with whipped cream until they explode.
And then the combat system should be made more complex - maybe revert some of the mechanics that have been referred like TP or things like that.
what does teleport have to do with the combat moron
>he wants tp back
I would literally unironically rather play with club trannies than you
murder all modders and 3rd party program users
add skills that do things besides deal damage or increase damage dealt
make the game turn based to drive off any remaining wowfugees
verification not required
Fall gays collab
Where's your 100 crowns title?
Why do they do it? Why does xiv provoke so much seething for years on end?
Because morons like
respond to obvious bait.
their own game went to shit
I'll never let you forget that those posts are not all from a single person.
Sounding like ACK there schizoid bro.
>Gankerx
Yeah I'm gonna say you're moronic sembai.
I'm literally the guy at the bottom, I have no idea why my post was deleted but I wasn't banned. I was calling out the schizo who garbles all criticism (legitimate and illegitimate) together into a word salad, what ticked me off was when he started doing it with complaints about veira/hrothgar/miqote ears being clipped by hats. I have no idea why you're associating me with Barry other than to poison the well.
Quit pretending to not get why that shit gets blended together
>Quit pretending to not get why that shit gets blended together
Like I said then, complaints about hroth/viera/miqo ears being clipped when wearing hats (or not being able to wear hats at all) is an extremely popular complaint about this game. You pretending it's not just outs you as a shitposter falseflagging as a white knight to muddy any legitimate criticism of the game.
if we consider the 2.0 cross class for midcore pvp class identity and modding for second life housing type rp/erp we can homogenize 2 dyes in the xi motivations
>Go back
>Save image
moronbro do you think people just don't know about IP swapping or the Gankerx (You) option? be for real m8.
I love Black Mage 🙂
me too!
so are you going to be specific or is there nothing to this bait?
It needs a total combat revamp. WoW may not be the greatest, but the combat is like butter. FF feels so fricking clunky. I’d play it continuously outside of patches if it didn’t feel like shit.
I think a 4th role should be added being support then break out a few jobs into being supports which focus on buffs/debuffs or keeping up various songs or other whacky ways to play. have these be more experimental jobs to incentivize burnt out players and keep the other 3 regular roles playing how they are now. Supports and DPS roles can replace each other in duties but you can't have more than 1 per full party or something.
>boss's left nut wiggled a little bit
>this means you have to stack, spread, partner stack, followed by limit cut
I found out why I don't like MMOs.
Nothing realistically can be done. The entire thing would have to be scrapped and fundamentally changed, and at that point they're better off making a new game. Closest you're going to get is to fully embrace plugins or other 3rd party tools to improve the experience and circumvent bullshit as per your tastes. Barring that, you should really consider playing something else.
I just wish jobs were less homogenized
Explain what that even means, how are jobs similar? Because of the 2 minute meta? Because of building gage and bursting?
Not mad, but I see this a lot and don't understand it.
>Not mad
mad, redditspacing homosexual
Ok good talk
How did morons get memed into thinking 1 space is Reddit spacing?
That is the issue. Every job is 123 build gauge burst. Every melee has a buff or debuff that needs to be maintained that results in the mob taking a tiny bit more damage. Every caster has a DoT. Tanks burst more mits, healer burst more heals, DPS bursts more damage. There did used to be more mechanical variety, but it's all been removed over the years because the instant a job's quirk became more useful in a given piece of level-cap content, everything else got sent to the cuckshed. It was so prevalent SE had to add that thing where the LB charges slower if you have more than one of any job in the party, as an early incentive/punishment for locking certain jobs out of groups. Many other abilities were preemptively neutered, by making their focus some kind of CC but having every boss or level-cap mob immune to it.
>Every caster has a DoT
No?
>Every job is 123 build gauge burst.
Not true, also not an issue, using GCDs to acquire and spend resources isn't inherently bad. The issue isn't the "123 build gauge burst"
>Every melee has a buff or debuff that needs to be maintained that results in the mob taking a tiny bit more damage.
Yes? buff management is another source of resource management.
>There did used to be more mechanical variety
And it was bad moron, DPS stance for tanks were useless unless you were some sort of omega shitter midcore gay who wanted to be xeno. Casual players either spent 80% of their time in tank stance or 100% of their time in tank stance. Hardcore players spent 100% of their time outside of pull in DPS stance.
There was never a time when DRK would put grit on, they would just beg for smokescreen from NIN.
Cleric stance was similar, same thing with venoms and other dogshit like that. Rotations now might be shit but don't pretend like huge mechanics were removed.
>Many other abilities were preemptively neutered, by making their focus some kind of CC
CC was never required in anything outside of turns and that one fight, even then it was toss up by what you needed to actually CC in fights until they added the silence indicator.
CC in MMOs is almost always shit though, "Stun boss or you wipe" is never an interesting gimmick. The only interesting thing they've removed is positioning/grouping.
Pretty much everything groups around the tank during dungeons.
I shouldn't have generalized but in my case I play WAR and I feel like all tanks are pretty much the same except for the special effects: same combos, same CDs, same invul, in addition to the two points you already mentioned
>dire situation
You've just been subbed and playing for so long that you're bored and don't know what to do with your time.
What would you say is the most fun melee dps? It's the only role where I haven't yet settled on a main.
Class-fantasy wise they all do the trick for me.
easily mnk or dragoon
NIN or DRG
Built for Hyur wiener.
>remove party buffs minus stuff like ast cards, dance partner, dragoon eye
>reduce button bloat but make gcds shorter
>give classes something like talents to introduce build variety
>focus more on outdoor content, give a people reason to do content that isn't weeklies
>Remove "button-bloat"
There already is a moron job, moron. Go play SMN
>many buttons is.. LE GOOD!
party buffs minus stuff like ast cards, dance partner, dragoon eye
Yes. This would create the opportunity to design more diverse jobs and shake up the now stale 2 minute meta.
button bloat but make gcds shorter
Most jobs aren't bloated, but I'd like to see more combined buttons to create more hotbar space while still having lots of skills. And augmentation moves like Eukrasia are cool. As for GCD times it would be cool to have some more fast options - currently there's only a few melee dps with significantly faster GCDs and even 1.93 MNK doesn't feel that fast. I'd like a 1.5s MNK to be viable. But I'd also like to see one job with a really long GCD (say 4s) but with an intricate reactive rotation and instances of triple weaving.
>>give classes something like talents to introduce build variety
no
more on outdoor content, give a people reason to do content that isn't weeklies
CEs in the overworld could be cool. But I think xiv is aware that it shines at big spectacle instanced boss fights, and it's too late to change the design drastically. Fighting trash packs in the overworld really can't be made very interesting within the limitations of this game.
make most party buffs be something offered by particular jobs
like BRD
>give classes something like talents to introduce build variety
I will never understand why people think this solution should work on literally every game they play.
Some how more options makes it better even though people pick whats best nearly at all times.
I would prefer less choices and balance than more choices and hope my class isnt in the cuckshed this expansion after being the god of the last expansion.
It just shows they fundamentally don't understand how this game works.
Talent trees are fine when game feel is input based like in dark souls or some shit.
In tab target you just have a good skills and useless skills.
All of the "complexity" in XIV is usually timers.
Balance is only relevant in ultimates
Introducing talent systems would give more variety in gameplay, it doesn't matter if one build deals 1% more or less damage cause all other content doesn't have difficult DPS checks
>Thinking people won't pick the better option even if it's only better by 1%
I don't care what parsetrannies do.
It won't just be them, anon.
I don't think you understand the type of person that plays MMOs.
If people would pick something just because it's 1% better on the highest level of content, that's on them. I'd rather pick the Job that I like and play well. The majority of players are awful as basic shit in this game, so playing something that parses the lowest but do well with still makes the person better than the average player.
It's not about balance moron, there is functionally no use for the design philosophy you're advocating for in this kind of game.
Very easy example is one talent tree giving you two charges of spine shatter dive and the other gives you an extra hit after you use spine shatter dive.
What is the real difference between these two? even if you do something crazy like spine shatter dive reduces the cooldown of jump or some shit why would you not just take that?
It's way better to divert resources into polishing jobs into being better through reworks. Something they already can't do, so I find it weird you think they'd nail something way more complex.
>Introducing talent systems would give more variety in gameplay
No it wouldn't, you would just be kicked from parties for having the "wrong" one.
You are talking about a group of people that put DPS meters on there screen to see and callout people doing worse than them.
People that claim they have the clear to be carried though content.
People who read a website that is just numbers of what the best classes are.
This shit trickles down hill and people do not play the fun specs. They play the things that get them where they want to be even if they are not good enough to get there.
Talents are a plague of faux choices that only top tier players and morons get any fun out of. because both of those players are good enough to understand the differences. Something the vast majority of players will never do.
They will instead go to the balance or icy veins and read whats best and try to do that.
Balance is relevant in extremes and up, because there are lots of metaslave casuals who will whine and exclude jobs which are perceived as weaker from their parties. They see some streamer complain that he can't clear the new savage tier week 1 with a specific comp because there's a 100 rDPS difference between two jobs, and start locking their PF slots to exclude certain jobs.
That's their problem.
Player behaviour is influenced by developer decisions, and in a multiplayer game it forms part of the gameplay experience. Devs need to manage players to create a good game
>and start locking their PF slots to exclude certain jobs.
I've done every piece of content this game has to offer and I've never seen this happen. Are you by chance confusing this with people locking out jobs so they can get the full 5% bonus?
You do know what that is right?
I have seen MCH and PLD specifically locked out from extremes during EW. I'm not talking about the role bonus, but specific exclusion of those jobs. I've also seen exclusion of black mage from high end groups because people are concerned about having to adjust around them, but that's a different issue.
There was also a little bit of WHM exclusion during p3s, but that's a fight specific thing, and I love how AST got to shine there even though my group cleared with WHM SGE
>Needing skill trees when we have 18 jobs
Just diversify their play style you don't need skill trees for that shit.
>Just diversify their play style
Already a huge hurdle that I doubt they will jump.
Doesn't make it the superior choice, 2 skill trees for 18 jobs would just not work out I think.
>it doesn't matter if one build deals 1% more or less damage cause all other content doesn't have difficult DPS checks
People literally lose their shit over a 0.5% DPS difference between SMN and RDM, even if RDM can spam rez and has 2 mitigations
But that's also why balancegays should never be listened to
>tanking in xiv be like
>tanking in M+ be like
>running away kiting the whole dungeon never actually tanking
WoW is down that way
You're a literal moron if you don't think they're exactly the same in this regard. The only difference is that you can die as a tank in WoW.
Mobs run faster than you in FFXIV, you can only outsprint them for 10s every 60s, but you keep that for bringing the 2 groups together
You can't pull everything in Criterion or you fricking die immediately, by design
You don't actually play the game
In M+, your tanks have an AoE slow ability that they actively use to not take damage, and you group has multiple AoE stuns/pushbacks to make the tank kite/survive more, which you can't do in FFXIV
What are the numbers for customize for those thighs, I want my cat's like that.
butt butt butt butt butt butt show her butthole show her butthole show her butthole do it show it show us her butthole show show show show
Honestly my two main ideas would require a lot of content revamping as it boils down adding a sort of block ability and directional dodge. I guess one that might not require as much would be creating more situations where bosses can be interrupted and even be vulnerable to stuns. At least that’s off the top of my head.
First time playing and almost done with ARR
Does it get better I'm so bored right now
It does get better, but if you don't like it now you probably won't like it later either.
ARR is absolutely piss ass boring because they have to establish and re-establish everything and took a fairly generic FF story approach for it. I won't say everything afterwards is magically better in some world shattering way, but it at least gets its head out of an abyssal ass.
wait
are you done with ARR 2.0 or ARR 2.55?
Not really, it's the same shit over and over, and story is naruto filler-tier.
What are the odds combos get put on a single button PVP style
I have no idea why they're not already
they homogenized the fun out of the game in ShB and EW isn't any different
Nothing, the backend/foundation of the game is fricked
The engine doesn't allow them to do anything exciting.
So expect this corpse to flail around for a few more years until its put out of its misery
I'm not resubbing until they add a real relic grind to Dawntrail. Frick them for not adding a relic grind to Endwalker.
Zoomers don't like grinds or MMOs. They do like MOBAs and farm sims and Fall Guys so that's what you get.
I need to see femhroths before I decide if DT is gonna be kino or not
wowfugees go home
Let's hope they do.
>The game is clearly in a dire situation in terms of gameplay.
is it?
The pvp version of classes are infinitely more interesting than the pve ones, the game is just stale as shit and the wow addon troons came over with asmongold to boot.
I think Combos are fine as is, but attacks that have a mandatory prerequisite to use that are on separate buttons is really dumb and maybe should be looked at.
To take Reaper for example, Soulsow turns into Harvest Moon because there is no other way to use it. And yet in the same Job, the only way to use Plentiful Harvest is to be under the effects of Arcane Circle, but they are separate buttons. Why?
RPR is the best designed job in the game when it comes to reusing buttons, you have a good point but they need to go further in that direction
DRG right now has a 10 button GCD rotation that could be simplified as 2 buttons that go through each 5 GCD cycle. Keep the positionals, keep everything else about it, but you just freed up 8(EIGHT) whole keybinds on DRG by doing this.
sorry six but you get my point
so Jobs will cap at 100, and in January Yoshida expressed he doesn't want the levels to keep going past 100 in some infinite escalation
what do you add to keep any sort of Job progression after that
probably le prestige levels maymay or whatever
1) level squish, make expansions cover 5 levels each
2) say frick it and go to 110 because sticking to the formula worked so far
3) talent/spec options? (unlikely)
4) personal limit break/ultimate moves
5) skill glamours
I'd like 4 and 5
Unironically a complete and total revamp. As soon as ARR launched I knew they were just shooting themselves in the foot further down the road and here we are now.
keep making these moronic OPs then wonder why it's impossible to talk about XIV without shitposters
first concern troll thread?
idm avatargays you can just ignore them but we had some decent threads last week but these past days it's all wow players living rent free/shitposters
I think we already had a thread get pruned this evening, it's a defence mechanism to make shitty OPs like that
Ryne sex scene
this but alisae
>their HW/ARR outfits in the cash shop
>but no one can wear tight alisaie shorts for at least a couple more years without mods
Ok but with Y'shtola.
This but with Venat.
Mommy did nothing wrong.
The one thing she did wrong was dying.
I'm still mad about that, why the hell is the new writer going on a killing spree he even killed off the twelve.
Venat should become the next permanent party member.
I dunno. More G'raha time?
Because he fears people asking "why didn't the twelve and venat just help out?" with future troubles?
Because he's a homosexual?
Because he hates white women?
>Because he fears people asking "why didn't the twelve and venat just help out?" with future troubles?
He should have just made her give up the majority of her power to help us against Meteion/Zodiark so she would be on equal footing with us, there problem solved.
I agree. She should still be around. With less power, but still there.
>As for why she superdied... I honestly think that's just bullshit someone threw in there and no one fact checked it because it makes no fricking sense.
Especially funny if you consider the Flow art.
>He should have just made her give up the majority of her power to help us against Meteion/Zodiark so she would be on equal footing with us, there problem solved.
That's literally what WoW did with the Dragon Aspects at the end of Cataclysm.
And then they later went "lol nvm"
Leave Venat alone, let her die.
And then the new stories won't pan out very well and the WoL will have to take care of a bunch of reincarnated kids of the Ancient trio.
>Leave Venat alone, let her die.
Nah I wanna take her on an adventure. And then marry her.
>Leave Venat alone, let her die.
No.
Well for Venat it was definitely Ishikawa, though I have a hunch that they had already decided the story would end with Hydaelyn's death far before Ishikawa became MSQ writer and she just had to adapt to it. As for why she superdied... I honestly think that's just bullshit someone threw in there and no one fact checked it because it makes no fricking sense. Venat getting to reincarnate wouldn't have harmed the setting in the slightest, in fact it could have given us something to look forward to.
And wasn't the Myths raids also part of the whole "testing a new team of writers" deal?
the world as it's established must needs (heh) kill all the gods because they use up aether power which is meant to be constantly recycled.
threesome with ryne, alisaie, and gaia
Why are people so obsessed with wanting the game to change it's core design philosophy to cater to them?
Just go play one of the dozen other MMOs that has what you want.
Actually people want the game to revert its core philosophy back to the original one before it changed to cater to whiny newcomers.
It's core design philosophy has always been the same, it has not wavered or changed.
Which version of Endwalker are you playing where we still have crossclass skills and you're forced to level other jobs to let your main reach its full potential?
>he wants crossclass skills back
Thank nobody who matters cares what you want holy frick.
I rest my case.
So the design philosophy HAS changed to cater to people who didn't want to play a Final Fantasy game? I'm glad we agree. Anyway, I have played FFXI and in fact that's my screenshot there.
>I rest my case.
Yes. Your case is that you have shit taste and that it was good that the things you liked about the game got removed.
Go back to the Lynx Kameli comment section.
My case is that crossclass skills were removed because non-FF WoWrats tried the game and cried about having to level other jobs and didn't want to engage with a central mechanic of the FF franchise. And you proved it for me, so thank you. The game HAS, in fact, changed to cater to new audiences.
No. Crossclass skills were removed because they were dogshit and 99% of people didn't like them.
Go back to Lynx Kameli's comment section, LARPo.
>"Wtf how come you don't make lop sided towers anymore!"
>"Because I'm a better architect now I like this style more"
>"FRICK OFF GO BACK TO YOUR OLD DESIGN PHILOSOPHY"
This is how you sound.
>IT'S BAD BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO LEVEL OTHER JOBS!
Okay buddy. Anyway, thanks for proving me right.
>Autistic obsessive freaks like yourself cling to these terrible mechanics out of some horrific sense of contrarianism
Actually I just want deeper RPG mechanics in my RPG, but I understand you don't actually like video games and such an idea infuriates you because you just want quick easy dopamine hits of seeing your tomestone number go up with minimal effort.
I don't watch youtube. Next projection, tourist-kun?
how does this play into the kate bozja meta and golbez armor motivations?
can we use this to remystify aether for the twelve to live?
>Leveling jobs out of nowhere
huh?
The reason everyone cried about crossclass skills is because they didn't want to level other jobs to unlock the skills.
True, but for me? it's the no cat ear hood type ab kate 2 minute meta caused by the death of the 12.
the reason the cross class meta is a part of the xi open world jobs is because vpr did not fix cat ear hoods and limbal rings
Damn.
That's crazy.
True, but have you considered the vpr ninja 2 homogenization of the midcore player abandonment?
Neat but nobody can take your schizzing seriously because you have shit taste. Sorry not sorry.
>Actually I just want deeper RPG mechanics in my RPG
Then play a game that has them, stop crying that XIV, a game that is what it is and isn't trying to be anything else, doesn't have them. Why are you wasting your life having temper tantrums about a game you don't like not conforming to your views?
Play FFXI, go install it right now, stop posting.
what do you consider deep lmao
>Then play a game that has them
I do. I play both games.
>XIV, a game that is what it is and isn't trying to be anything else, doesn't have them
But it did have deeper mechanics, until they were removed.
>Why are you wasting your life having temper tantrums
What temper tantrums? I'm just calling you a moron. You're trying to accuse other people of wanting to change the game when you're the ones who came in and cried until it catered to you.
>a game you don't like
I do like XIV, but for some reason people like you think that if you like something then it means you don't ever want it to improve.
>You're trying to accuse other people of wanting to change the game when you're the ones who came in and cried until it catered to you
ever consider that the people that go tp and cross-class skills and stance dancing removed were people playing alongside you who hated those mechanics and not "filthy shadowbab outsiders" who came to ruin your sovlful game and made it change to cater to them?
They were non-FF newbies no matter when they arrived. Leveling other jobs to fully flesh out another job is a core mechanic of FF job systems.
I haven't even been on Ganker for the past week, so get some help with those delusions. What the frick are you even blabbering about?
Cross-classing, damage types, elemental attributes, accuracy, TP, not gonna bother with more than that because I already know you're just going to say you don't like them so they don't count.
>They were non-FF newbies no matter when they arrived.
Ah, yes, of course.
Blow it out your ass, moron.
Yeah of course, those were very basic things, and they didn't really add anything to fights. Unless you can tell me a specific fight that relied on slashing damage? Oh guess it didn't really affect anything except 2% damage...
In 1.0 when the damage types were freely accessible on any job, such as PGL/MNK equipping claws for slashing or caesti for blunt, different enemy types had different resistances. You wouldn't want to use slashing on a skeleton, for instance.
Ok I had to check, this is the same schizo that has been plaguing threads for a week now. I don't even know if he slept, he was freaking out in a thread last night and probably stayed up all night having a nervous breakdown about XIV.
Call your parents, ask for help.
>But it did have deeper mechanics, until they were removed.
Enumerate them, so I can laugh at your idiocy.
Uhmmm uhmmm what about uhhh
Accuracy!
>Oh shit nobody liked accuracy
Uhmmm.....S-Stat points!
>Oh wait people just dumped points into one stat anyway
>Also it made Summoner/Scholar annoying as shit
Uhhmmmm cross-class!!!!
>Oh wait nobody liked cross-class
If you didn't like them you are a non-FF playing parasite who wanted the game to become worse to cater to disgusting non-FF gays.
Whether or not a game should have something depends on whether I like it.
bro shut the frick up
dumbass Ganker poster
I know, right?
People coming into MY game
Playing MY game
Deciding that some parts of it aren't that great when *I* like them?
Fricking parasites.
They ruined MY game
With their feedback that *I* don't agree with.
This but unironically
critique is good when i agree
if not, people are parasites trying to ruin my game, that belongs to me
nta but pets have been removed, DoTs have been removed, back in ARR we had blunt, slashing, and piercing damage types. the game is just broken on a fundamental level and that's why we have garbage like limited jobs, class homogenization, and the same boring content.
>nta but pets have been removed
They haven't been removed, more like they have been lobotomized. Scholar pixies are still healbotting as usual.
>DoTs have been removed
Factually not true, several Jobs still have DoTs.
>back in ARR we had blunt, slashing, and piercing damage types
Literally never mattered outside of buff windows.
but xi cross class motivation may lead us to venat genoicde for 1.0 and zeros character arc
can this be fixed with the 2 minute not and mmo shitpost meta?
>Label game as an MMORPG
>Gets upset when people ask for it to actually have RPG elements
?
Not every MMORPG has to have the exact same elements, each one is a unique creation that has different design goals in mind and focuses on different concepts/mechanics/elements.If you don't like it, don't play it. Choose from any of these other MMORPGs on your list and enjoy yourself.
Why are you here?
NOOO NOOO. SHUT UP. IT HAS TO BE JUST LIKE MY MMO! OR IT ISN'T AN MMO! I DECIDE WHAT AN MMO IS
Okay, but where are the RPG elements in this MMORPG? There is nothing unique about FFXIV's approach, it is the laziest and most pathetic approach that is the result of gutting itself over the years.
re-read this post
then read this post
I did. The game labels itself as MMORPG, but where are the RPG elements and why are you telling people to play something else if they want RPG elements, when they're already playing a game that calls itself an MMORPG?
the mmo meta is a result of elemental resistances for 1.0 motivations
A simple discussion is all it takes to mind break people in these threads?
>wahh it cant be an mmorpg if it isnt like MY mmos
literally nobody cares take a hike you can call it singleplayer tactical stealth game for all i care
No, please stop attaching your self-worth to games. The game labels itself as an MMORPG, yet there are no RPG elements, so how can it be an MMORPG? This is like calling Dear Esther an action game and getting butt hurt when people ask where the action is.
don't care, didn't ask.
your approval isn't necessary. call xiv a singleplayer tactical stealth game for all I care.
We were having a fairly reasonable discussion, why did you devolve into a blithering moron all of a sudden?
sorry that nobody asked your approval when they were documenting what genre ffxiv is
but we really don't care because your opinion is worth 0
now go and call it a tactical stealth game
Again, why are you acting like a blithering moron? You told people who wanted RPG elements to go play something else, in a thread about a game that calls itself an "MMORPG". Do you not see the complete stupidity in your logic?
the mmometa is a result of rpg identity being tied to cat ear hoods and limbal rings
pablo seethey
okay so xiv isnt an mmo
now what
do you expect people to stop playing it? for wikipedia to stop listing it as an mmo because you didn't give your approval? for yoshida to go "shit wait it isnt an mmo because this random homosexual online said it wasnt like his mmos" and immediately radically change it?
what do you actually want lmao because to me you just look like you're projecting diarrhea out of your mouth and i'm not interested in your mimimimimi-ing.
God damn someone must have just cast Meltdown on this Black person LMAO
>you must care you must care you must care
>nobody cares, there is no purpose to your screeching
>HAHAHA MELTDOWN ECKS DEE HAHA I WINNED
and still you've not accomplished a single thing
methinks you were only out to be a doomsissy and now that nobody wants to play ball with you, you're trying to save face by going "ha i made u mad i win"
You pretty clearly care just by how hard you're melting
He just wants to farm (You)s.
No, we were just having a conversation and I wanted to understand your reasoning is all. Why are getting so upset about this?
my reasoning for what?
for why i dont care about your autistic prerequisites? i don't need a reason. your opinion just isn't very interesting to me
Your reasoning for telling someone to play something else if they wanted RPG elements, in a thread about an MMORPG.
if you don't like what the game has to offer, you go play another game that does. simple as
not all mmorpg have all the same shit, some specialize in other things. xiv doesn't need to be like the mmo you came from to be an mmo. easy
>call xiv a singleplayer tactical stealth game for all I care.
The moronic thing is that Yoshi keeps saying he wants XIV to move away from the MMORPG label while conveniently forgetting that most of XIV would be labeled as a shit JRPG.
The design philosophy has never wavered or changed, they try things out and if it doesn't work it gets the boot, shit mechanics get sent to the trashcan. Autistic obsessive freaks like yourself cling to these terrible mechanics out of some horrific sense of contrarianism and spend years annoying everyone about them unable to move on and realize how much better the game is as it is routinely refined.
Generally whatever the newest one is, in this case it's called Horizon. Personally I don't agree with some of the changes they've made but if you just want to dick around and look at things it'll get the job done.
There are so many people who have that dog shit opinion thinking that old = good because choices.
XIV is now old enough to have its own version of vanilla boomers.
Except in that case there is at least some merit to it. In this case, it's people who miss the shittiest parts of the game like crossclassing and TP because they probably think contrarianism makes their point more salient.
The only bit I miss from pre SB is enmity managements, Cleric stance dancing, and having several damaging abilities for healers. RIP Aero III, you are missed.
Stance dancing is always cancer to me no matter what iteration.
But I'll agree on the damaging abilities.
I wonder if now that they set up the shield and hot healers if they are going to add more to the damage this time instead of adding MORE healing for DT
That was a shit mechanic they attempted to carry over from 1.0 and quickly realized how it didn't fit their vision for the game and was removed. It was not good, it belonged in the trashcan.
If you want to play game that has that feature, but is actually good, I'd like to direct your attention to a classic title named Final Fantasy XI. You can play it for free on a private server or check out retail if you want a more solo oriented experience.
What is the most populated, non-bullshit private server? I am not frickin with PlayOnline and a separate sub just for XI.
Sad thing is I think these mechanics were absolutely godawful and anti-fun bullshit, but if there was a new Eureka-esque piece of content where players get unique skills and factors and then could cross-class a bit to experiment, I wouldn't mind it.
moron
see
it changed to cater to the existing players over time based om a "general feel" for the playerbase + direct feedback
t. ninja that fricking hated poisons and kissing tank ass with aggro management
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooOOOOO
if you played in ARR it was PERFECT, and clearly if you don't like a thing during ARR and wanted it to be changed to be better you're a parasite forcing the game to change to be unidentifiable against its will!
XIV has fallen billions must unsub.
>My favorite game died, so this one NEEDS to change to fill the exact same void.
>If it's doing something different, then obviously that's because the devs are stupid, or else this would have been my favorite game instead of the one that died.
because wowfugees need every game to be like the game they left
it is only le reel mmo if it's like the one mmo they know
it's like the meme of the guy who watched only boss baby watching another movie
>Just go play one of the dozen other MMOs that has what you want.
Virtually every MMO on the market specializes in one thing and then fricks up virtually everything surrounding that in some way. I was a major PSO2 fan and the shit going on with NGS pushed me to XIV.
Anons.
Bros.
Compatriots.
Lend me your ears.
Do I dedicate my life to DRK's greatsword or to PLD's shield?
do you want to mash out a bunch of attacks in bursts while being designed to eat shit so you give foes shit back
or do you want to slap people for a while while occasionally giving party-wide mits
Anon I already know what they do, I need someone to just push me one way or the other for good.
(Appreciated though)
big frickoff sorewd
XIV jobs are so accesible you'll end up playing all of them anyways
Just play both gay.
People who dedicate themselves to one job are absolute mongoloids.
The only exception is Black Mage mains because their autism is way more sophisticated and advanced.
I can only first time content with ONE job, and I need that first time to be special, ok?!
DRK questline is celebrated for having a great story. PLD is famous for how shitty it's quest story is.
So DRK.
uh oh bro
These freaks need to stay in their containment zone, Crystal.
Why are lalaBlack folk the most insufferable c**ts ever?
I wouldn't mind their behaviour if they were actually competent at the game.
90% of times I'm in a party with a lala, they're the ones who frick up mechanics and lie dead on the floor.
And if it's not them, it's the ugly as frick shirtless Hrothgars.
>le gameplay is le boring
Alright morons. Show off those Savage/Ultimate/Criterion clears. I'll also permit solo duel clears.
>Thinks Savage and Ultimates are exciting or fun
The absolute state of trannoids.
>god I'm bored I need a challenge
>did you try the hard content
>no lol
I’m not bored, I never even said I was.
>detect plugins and ban their users
Game fixed.
>Plugin users are now 80% or more of PC players post eceleb invasion
>Game not profitable anymore
Great idea but SE already puts 0 budget on this game to focus on nfts and woke shit, they will literally cancel the entire development if it starts bleeding even half the userbase
OP is gay
wowcore thread
So theoretically a vanilla Steam Deck should be able to handle Dawntrail but there'll be some day one jank and it's possible I may not handle the graphics update?
I'm looking to get one with my first paycheck ever. I have the steam version of the game but I heard you can still run it through xiv launcher and use mods that way?
It will still run on PS4 so there will be a downgraded graphics setting
graphics update is a toggle on PC version iirc
steam deck's specs exceed even the higher reqs given for dawntrail
xivlauncher and mods work yes
There's only so much that can be toggled off.
Lower res textures? Sure.
Lower res lighting and shadows? Sure.
Less foliage density? Alright.
But they can't turn off stuff like the new material rendering. That's just an engine overhaul type of thing.
How do I install XIV to Steam Deck again? I already play with controller, but don't have a way to easily reconfigure the UI for the resolution difference.
xivlauncher is in the discover flatpak store
download sonic robo blast 2 and srb2kart while you're there, excellent games
Needs more complicated jobs, BLM is the only DPS job that isn't explicitly bound to the two-minute "build and burn" playstyle.
But that's harder to balance and FF14 is going EoS within the next two years, they're already stripping BD3's resources to make whatever the next MMO will be. So all design decisions are made in the interest of making it possible for a handful of people to maintain. It's only going to get dumber and more simplified.
Yes, yes, just like how it was going to not have any expansions after EW, right?
it needs more cute girls instead of dumb time traveling cats
She has a cute lickable tummy.
Imagine the handholding
crystal malboro
>Cleared from start P11S on PF in 2 days
I'm honestly suprised, usually PF is full of morons this late into the tier.
I wish XIVs character creator had an actual thiccness slider.
People have been asking for a butt slider for years and they refuse, you're never going to get that.
I can still dream.
Job reworkings are hard, need burst phase optimizations.
Making dungeons non-linear is almost pointless, needs randomised elements instead.
Overworld needs FATES reworked to be more dynamic (Odin is the example).
That's pretty much it.
Introduce elemental damage and weakness/resistances, bring back physical damage types, monster affinities, buffs, debuffs, make actual support classes.
Even 1.0 had a better framework.
That's toxic, chud. You're not allowed to have a game with any variety in design.
If you can't clear the raid tier with two SGE and four MCH who are all asleep at the wheel, the game's basically unplayable trash.
This whole thread is just morons responding to posts projecting their insecurities and then the person who made the post responding >what the frick are you talking about? i never said that
Most sane mmo audience
Ackshually, I'm just waifuposting. And maybe replying to someone talking about lore here or there.
I think modding is an issue.
>Introduce elemental damage and weakness/resistances
For what purpose? Making half of Black Mage's rotation completely useless on the likes of Shiva or Ifrit? Get fricking real. There was a reason why even when elemental resistances was a thing in ARR, it didn't apply to enemies. Even then, elemental resistance really was just stupid flavour that had no real impact at best or annoying as frick at the worst.
Thaumaturge in 1.0 was focused on astral and umbral attacks. I think Conjurer had access to all elemental spells but I could be wrong.
You're right. THM was more of a buffer/debuffer too. Honestly THM should have been the one that turned into WHM.
Where's Lady Iceheart attack
>New BLU spell.
>You can now step on people.
Been playing since 2.1 and I'm letting my house get demolished. It doesn't feel fun anymore.
But that's fine, the journey was worth it.
>What should be done to fix the problems it has? What should be changed?
make FFXIV-2, but make it more like XI with some modern day conveniences
>BLU Lv.90 update is added
>BLUE learns ALL IN EXISTENCE, BENT TO MY WILL
AIIIIIIEEEEEE ZODIARK SAMA YAMETE
AAIIIEEEEEE
HYDAELYN SAVE MEEEEEEE
Why do elemental-based spells (like Black Mages fire, ice, and thunder spells, or SMN elemental-based summons) even exist in a game without any sort of elemental damage? All damage in this game is a flat physical or magical damage. Black mage could just be shooting out generic magic blasts and it would functionally make no difference.
There actually is elemental damage, but all enemies have the same resistance set for all elements so there's no difference in the damage. If you run with a BLU that can set Libra then a BLM's Fire attacks will deal more damage on Astral attunement.
Because Final Fantasy and the standard of Fire I, Water II, Earth III, etc.
There used to be elemental damage in 1.0 and 2.0 but it was too complicated for the playerbase.
First, because there actually used to be elemental damage with separate resistances and shit, and second, because flavor. Why WOULDN'T a wizard throw fireballs at you?
>have elemental alignment for spells
>now a part of your rotation is scuffed because the boss has more resistance to the shit you have to push anyway
my enjoyment cup runneth over
>BUT MUH PARSES
I hate you parsetrannies with a burning passion.
I've been playing Genshin recently for the first time and I was astounded to find that game actually has RPG elements. Not only is their elemental damage (certain enemies are resistent to certain elements) but elements actually INTERACT with eachother. For example, you can cast wind spells to blow fire from a torch around and cause a wildfire around you as the grass in the surrounding area becomes ablaze. It's nuts
Frick off back to /gig/ you moron.
The fricked up part? They DO have elemental-damage systems in this game, but it's only in the Masked Carnival, where there are enemies that are resilient to certain elemental spells so you have to pre-emptively bring the right spell setup to beat a stage. The problem is only BLU get's to experience this, the rest of the game is totally berift of rpg elements.
Eureka also uses it in a weird way.
It's dumb in Eureka because you're not actually being forced to use certain elemental abilities to damage certain enemies, you're just clicking a button that gives you a flat dmg buff against enemies with X or Y elemental mark over their head. It's not immersive at all. It might as well not exist.
It used to have elemental damage and resistances, they removed them for no reason.
The birthsign stuff at char selection affected those too, now it does fricking nothing
>our chosen diety with our nameday wasn't mentioned at all in the recent Twelve raids
Fricking devs
Mine was because I picked Oschon like anyone with sense.
When you chat with them before the final set of raids your chosen patron mentions you worshipping them though.
>Have to take into consideration not just under which star your nameday is, but also who your patron god is.
Horoscope writing in Eorzea must be a b***h and a half of a job.
elemental resistances contribute to the cross class xi meta for golbez armor motivations in bozja with kate type a/b spells
Y'shtola should use her shrinking magic and crush enemies under her boots
>enemy weak to fire
>"Hey! he's weak to fire!"
>"time to turn up the heat!"
This an elemental gay's brain. Genshin and Breath of the Wild are the only games to do elements right.
Here's a couple of games you can play if you like RPG mechanics in your MMOs:
>City of Heroes
>World of Warcraft Classic
>World of Warcraft Ascension (Private server)
>FFXI Retail
>FFXI Horizon (Private server, essentially FFXI Classic+)
>Dungeons & Dragons Online (Not Neverwinter)
There seems to be something all those games have in common...
They're dead?
That outside of the Private Server, thery're all old as shit?
Yeah, I guess.
I wish they would merge the subscriptions so XIV players would give XI a try and breathe some life into it. Doing it now would be perfect as the XI AR thats coming would make curious people give it a try.
Okay guys I'm making a first-person shooter but there's not going to be any shooting mechanics whatsoever, no guns, no pointing and clicking, in fact it won't even be first person. Personally I love visual novels so I want to make a first-person shooter that plays more like a visual novel but it'll say first-person shooter on the box so if anyone questions it just tell them to play CS:GO.
I'm happy for you, anon.
Make a dedicated thread for it.
Good luck with your game, anon!
I hope it turns out the way you want it.
This poster is the result of parents giving their toddler children tablets and letting them raise themselves on youtube and the internet.
Allow lalafell players to be picked up and fricked at literally any time, including in the middle of boss raids and PvP, AND including male lalafells.
So this is an ai bot, right?
no, chatgpt doesn't ouput results like that
OP here, got a warning for making this thread, now it has been silently auto-saged.
Thank you, Vauthry-sama!!!!!!!! THERE WILL BE NO VIDEOGAMES ON Ganker!!!!!!
must be a day ending with a y on this blizztroon board
>This guy completley eviscerates FFXIV's writing on a level no other streamer ever has.
KNEEL
Stop shilling your youtube channel.
Nobody cares about your shitty video
>all those character complaints
>all literally resolved mid way through shadowbringers
>quits right before it
I see that FFXIV players are taking his criticisms pretty well
Might wanna check the replies and the people telling that moron off.
But I guess they're only FFXIV players when they react in a way that slots into your narrative.
I do not care I like kino shonen moments.
Was trying to make a mockup for a Shantae like game and this gem popped up.
I don't know what to make or think about it.
Looks like a sick FPS bro
wrong thread dudenheimer
>saging this dogshit thread
Thank frick, I can only assume pablo is the one that made it. Would explain all the doomsissies.
janny's been having meltdowns again lately, was funny when somebody tried starting the fifty billionth "venat bad she should have tattled" argument a couple days ago, got his shitter shattered, then the thread was locked a few minutes later
>it's not an mmorpg
>why?
>because it doesn't adhere to my arbitrary criteria
>ok
>ARGUE WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE JUSTIFY YOURSELF TO MEEEEEEEE I AM MMO ARBITER YOU MUST PROSTRATE YOURSELF BEFORE ME
Man, MMO purists (boomers who think every MMO needs to be like the one they grew up with) are some real homosexuals.
>Game calls itself an MMORPG
>Completely omits the RPG elements
>Start sperging out when people point this out
Why do you people act as if calling something an "MMORPG" is a badge of honour, when it's just a genre?
anon, read
nobody cares. move on. do something better with your life
you're not the arbiter
nobody will go out of their way to adhere to *your* specific autistic prerequisites
cope, seethe, dilate and try not to have an aneurysm dealing with the reality that your opinion on matters is 100% irrelevant
the world goes on
>it doesn't need to have rpg mechanics to be an rpg just like i don't need XX chromosomes to be a woman!
Heavensward nearly killed the game again
657439389
i'm sorry your doomtrooning didn't pan out
>Janny saging doom troony thread he probably linked in his discord
Only time janny is based.
This just in: 2013 Square Enix published video game Final Fantasy XIV was delisted as an MMORPG after an anon on the Ganker board pointed out that it did not contain enough RPG elements for his personal liking.
More news at 11.
>experts said that definitions actually mean nothing and anything can be anything!
>experts said that local Ganker man is the objective arbiter on what constitutes an rpg and an mmo and therefore all shall defer to him for if it doesnt fit in his narrow window of what makes something an mmo, it does not qualify
nobody is shocked to find out that anon is a narcissist
>just because it doesn't have rpg mechanics doesn't mean it's not an rpg! you're not the boss of me the wikipedia experts and advertising agencies are!
>it doesn't have the rpg mechanics *i* care for therefore it doesnt count shut up shut up shut up
we get it, anon. your braying is boring
>of course it has rpg mechanics i mean you press a button and thing happens just like in an rpg wow!
>Final Fantasy XIV was delisted as an MMORPG
Might as well happen since Yoshi said he doesn't want to label the game as an MMORPG anymore
657440205
You realize rpg just means role playing right? larping is literally an rpg.
