Designing fights that require certain kinds of CC and kiting and what not is surprisingly a lot easier when your party sizes are bigger and a single raid mechanic can't potentially suddenly exclude half the roster of jobs from the fight, who knew?

I've been playing 14 since Heavensward and literally no piece of gear has ever given you that satisfaction

dude no, I want to pick one job for it's aesthetic and level it up and if I find another job of the same role i want it to play the exact same as my main one. that cross-skill thing sounds like chore, i'd have to play the game to level up the jobs I'm going to need for optimal gameplay

XIV isn't any better even with that itty bitty little choice it does offer.

Classes in WoW have different skill builds for mythic dungeons vs raids, and also have different builds for single target vs cleave damage optimization or different damage profiles for fights that favor sustained vs burst damage
The tradeoff of course is much worse balance and most specs being useless more or less by design, but that's just how things go.

You could still figure these things out for yourself, the fact that you don't because it's too difficult says good things about the game's depth, not bad

build diversity and customization really is just a cope. it leads to min-maxed builds, but just the concept that it could hypothetically lead to a whole smattering of individualized builds even if it never does in practice gives these people a hard pp

Don't be scared of pulling single mobs even at high floors no matter what the guide says. If you accidentally pull an Anzu you can still kill it if your burst is ready, or you can strength/steel to fight it and then try to maximize your efficiency for the duration of the buffs.
If you try to only fight the mobs that are rated as "easy" or "medium" you'll end up wasting a lot of time exploring and looking for that one mob you're not scared to fight. Just pull a hard mob and burst it down, especially as a job with a strong offense like monk.
