GNB, DRK, and DRG are usually played with 2.4 or 2.5 GCD. Double weaving on that is fine. NIN and MNK are faster at sub-2.0, so you clip constantly unless you live in Japan or use xivalex/noclippy

When everything is streamlined, bad design sticks out. If the devs successfully homogenized the game in SHB, why are there only issues in balance during EW? Biggest mechanic complaint during SHB regarding raids was Titan doing his go-kart first shaving 10s off a run. Yet EW further streamlined jobs and suddenly it has issues with two specific fights, something has to give here. I'm sticking around for the story because I always wanted to see thew new world, I don't give a shit about exploring other shards.

Honestly my main issue with the boss design in xiv isn't that it's too hard/easy, it's that it feels like a one off thing to me. The initial fight is fun, but that's just because it's a puzzle to figure out. Once you beat it, it just becomes a chore because it's the same every time.
i don't think there's any possible way of solving this that isn't randomization of all mechanics, which is a really fricking shit band-aid solution and more often just makes for uninteresting fights

Honestly I'm kinda glad that Viper uses two swords and not just sword and gun. Switching from dual wielding to the bladed staff seems more interesting to me than just having a sword and gun, for some reason. I really liked Zidane in FF9/Dissidia too, so the transformation in the trailer was a pleasant surprise for me too.

reaper is a great melee for your first time honestly. decent tools, flexible rotation, kinda fun sound effects and animations. it has the same 1.5s gcd bursts like machinist does too.
beware that melee is completely different from range because you're constantly put into situations where uptime is hindered, in exchange for your bursts bursting harder.

There's a few moments in current tier fights that make you compromise. P9S can have some unlucky Rockbreaker patterns. P11S can screw you on positionals if you're long tethered to the healer.
I think only MNK and NIN clip a bit during rockbreaker but there is a sweet spot that let's you hit the boss and be safe with just a hair of movement. I had no issue as tank. As for 11, just use true north.
if you get stuck in that northern spot you just don't have enough true north to make it, especially if you had to use a charge during a previous mechanic.

Bro, I played P12Normal as a Tank and I really think people need to see how much dps they are doing. We were only at 60% when we hit phase transition in fricking Normal.
I was stuck in that fricking raid for 25 minutes because the dps was so low, we kept hitting mechanics over and over and over that I have never seen happen more than twice since the release of p12n. On fricking Normal, how the frick do people not know how to press their fricking buttons when they are realistically hitting the Gateway to Endgame but really if you're in P12N you should be able to do, easily HW Savages and Extremes so you should know how to play this fricking game. I really don't understand how that happened.

At this point I prefer new characters because Scions never grow and exist to spew quips at this point. Alphinaud's arc in HW is great, as is Estinien's. Now? Alphy's writing during 5.5 was absolutely embarrassing, and that's our new MSQ writer.

We're at the threshold where either the upcoming arcs need to significantly give them growth and room to act outside of the WoL and world saving now that that "job" is officially over, or some serious issues are going to occur if they remain completely static. You can't pair them with anyone because you'd cuckold their fans, they just seem to stand on the side being a cheerleader squad or getting info dumps and accessories ready for the plot now which is dry as a desert, and ultimately I can't really see anywhere for most of them to go besides Y'shtola's "i wanna cross the shards!" shtick.
She's the only character with an actual long-term goal, too; the rest are just either fricking about from bit to bit or were entrenched in doing something like the twins with Garlemald, and now they just got booted off of that. It's actually baffling how dull they've become now.

The voice carries the fight, but apart from the TB sending you flying and the webs for HH its really not that interesting of a fight. I thought he was amazing first two weeks but was already bored on week 3. It just goes to show all savage fights should be voiced, because there is nothing to lose and everything to gain by adding them.

They removed that because of muh trusts. Literally, every single dungeon and all of their mechanics from ARR to Stormblood that were MSQ required got dumbed the frick down to wall-to-wall pulls and straight lines not to simplify them for the players (besides those that love W2W), but so the AI doesn't have to really do much in following the player and doing fights. It actually makes any shit player getting the optional and hard dungeons a detriment because nothing prepares them for the likes of Aurum Vale's murderfrick first room.
So not only is the trust system making the msq worse, its making the gameplay worse.

I was thinking of this recently, like a combination of dodging aoes, needing to swap spots every couple orbs, and the force march tethers. It should work and stay faithful to mechanics from the four lords, but we all know they're getting passed over for 5 katana phases and lunar tsukuyomi

I don't know about you, but I get killed by someone's mistake on the clear run every single week in at least 1 fight
i've had luck with 1 pull for p9s (with healer lb3) and 2 pulls for p11s this week (got damage down and also my best parse as drk lol) i'm taking the reclears slowly, i don't have to do p10s anymore so i'm happy about that but sometimes i go into p12s and i just feel a sense of dread that maybe we won't get past caloric 2
and that's at least 1 hour of my life gone
but yes reclears have been terrible in the past 2 months i once couldn't clear p9s for 3 different parties
it was that, it was passing the tether, it was at least 1 wipe to spin or flip, it was an extremely mechanically heavy fight
i rated what i consider the best fights in the game both on clears, prog and as an spectator, my idea being mostly how fun it is on all of these departments

titan itself was just a quick fight, everything happens quickly, it leads into another fight with unique height mechanics, it is a great turn 4
i think what makes a fight memorable is how tough it can be to clear or to solve, how it can surprise you on a new pull, how it surprises you while you prog it too

one thing I'd really like to see in a future update with the graphics improvement is IK (inverse kinematics) so characters stop floating off of the ground in their idle animations or some shit, or at least some motion correction so they lean into their turning movements like 1.0.
does it really matter when attack animations will still be hilariously floaty playing out as though you have your feet firmly planted on the ground while you slide around like the floor is conveyor belts
