The game is apparently already playable from beginning to end and the remaining year until its release will be used for polishing.
I don't know if this is yoshiP perfectionist autism or the game has tons of bugs, performance issues, or shitty AI they are trying to fix.
Either way, seems like it will be solid.
I feel this game would be an awful experience for both FF fans & "younger audiences"

never been a found of FF gameplay but I do understand the appeal and respect the series for what it is, but when I look at 16.. as a new comer I feel its .. soulless, like its not a final fantasy game anymore

Don't really care. I just really dislike whenever FF goes for that edgy aesthetic.
Yoshi made an remarkably bland and stale game in XIV. He seems quite resistant to risk taking unless SE is hamstringing him, but I don't get that impression from the live letter streams they publish.
If he takes that attitude to this game, I'm sure it'll be fine. Just an ok game, but not something that'll make the top 3.

I'm hoping that it will be great, but if it is at least a solid entry that helps rebuild the brand then Yoshida has done his job.

my problem with ff action games is that the enemies are not designed to be in them, there designs are jumbled messes that become really hard to tell what is going on, and mostly rely on status and aliment effects.
Imagine DMC but every enemy can either stun, sleep, slow or frick with dantes abilities. This was my man issue with stranger of paradise.

Theres a lot of cool stories.
FFV, FFVI, FFVII, FFIX, FFX to begin with
VI is always going to be my favorite I think. It's hard to beat such a large cast, most at least decently developed, with such a memorable villain. I think they did a fantastic job at telling the story without forcing an absolute main character on you.
Easy god tier game
I hope it's good, and so far I think it's looking really good. But they've shown so little it's impossible to tell. It could easily go either way still.
Although I think there's an extremely low chance of it releasing as a train wreck like 15 did. I feel like with the dev team on it the worst case scenario is that it's a kind of middling title, but competently made. So still fun and worth playing.
