it doesnt. The game is great and is unironically the best FF since X. Granted that doesnt say much, but it's still a great game. Great cast of characters, great OST, great world, game looks gorgeous, amazing gameplay. Yeah it's short and lineart and not really a RPG that much but if you accept the game for what it is (a DMC x FF14 collab) instead of wanting it to be what it's not (a traditional old school FF) it's amazing. Go play Octopath 2 if you want a good old school JRPG

She's great I think she just ends up parroting the shit clive says too much about OUR OWN TERMS. It's not a phrase that sticks like "This is my story" from Titdust and Yuna in FFX. I get why though, I think a lot of people look passed the fact that half or more of the game world was raped/pillaged and turned into some Fire Punch type energy factories for the needs of regular people. So of course the whole "we gotta find a way to do shit our own way without being treated like garbage" is fine. But the delivery of the lines makes me want to cringe after the 10th time though.

I'd say it slightly goes downhill after Bahamut because the central antagonist is just Zanza from Xenoblade 1 again, but the late game side quests keep carrying the game narratively and the last main bosses are by far the best in terms of actual combat mechanics.
This is still by far the best FF since 12, worthy of being in one row with the "good" ones (4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14).
I thought the same thing pretty much, it's the most entertaining thing they've released since 12. I just wish they put a little more time into the fun random cheesy shit you can do in FF games sometimes. He's a far better Demiurge than Zanza. Better voice acting and visual design too.
It's interesting that he's voiced by the same person who did Z in XB3 in english dub.

It's hilarious how many parallels 16 has to Xenoblade and especially Xenoblade 3.
It's literally just Xenoblade 3 but good and Metsu/Malos is Clive, Clive literally being called Logos going into Origin to defeat Z but actually good.
And the grand plan of Ultima is essentially what Deus wanted to do in Gears.
And Jill/Clive romance arc has an actually satisfying conclusion unlike Noah and Mio who almost stop interacting in last 2 chapters.
It's bad as soon as you start the game and a pop up invasively takes up the screen like an ingame advert reminding you that the forward direction of the controller does indeed move you forward.

The game is far from perfect and I agree with lots of the criticisms that were made against it. It just doesnt prevent me from enjoying it because I didnt have the same expectation or because said criticism weren't that important for me compared to its qualities.

Three big flaws for me though
>Game too easy most of the time (enemies should either be more agressive or potions should be rarer)

I think people liked the darker tone and the political warfare from the demo. By the time, we got to the Hugo Kupka's part of the story, these 2 elements have mostly been diminished.

When you reach the Dame and realise that they put side quests in the main quests. THAT many cutscenes doesn't help either
I treat this like a DMC/Bayonetta game, in the way I will just go straight forward until the next checkpoint, but exploration is absolutely dogshit and not worth it.
