nta, and I am sure that the game will come with a performance mode, but anon this build must absolutely be representative of the final game. Not only because it's the demo that they're giving the journalist to sell you on the game, but also because that hard 30 to 60 shift does not seem like something they would just come up for the journalist alone, and framerate is like the very first thing you decide on before making a game. All of this said, I'm sure the game will be great, though I will say it's a very bizarre design choice.
Honestly I'd welcome options like that on PC. We're pulling huge amounts of power in video games with high frame rates so having an automated fps cap depending on if you need it or not would be a neat feature.
In this game though it's probably just down to wanting to show nice graphics, with a sharp drop in environmental quality when you enter combat.

FF Mode sounds great. Wish they had a regular hard mode too for a first playthrough. I don't mind the "first playthrough is the tutorial" DMC mentality, but in that series this tutorial lasts 8 hours, not 30+.
They probably figured that the hard mode combat AI didn't make for an enjoyable experience with your limited toolset during an initial playthrough. Fighting hordes of super aggressive enemies when you have no ways of controlling and clearing out crowds usually devolves into long and tedious hit and run affairs.
Oh, for sure, I'm not asking for FF Mode to be unlocked from the start, just a regular Hard Mode that is the current Story Mode with enemies being slightly more aggressive and dealing more damage, as I'm sure the default mode will be braindead, it's FF tradition.
I'm really glad they made NG- available from the start in the PC version of FFXII, it's by far the best method of experiencing that game.

God of War did drop its sense of scale in the reboot though, so FFXVI surpassing it is not a high bar; due the direction of the camera always following Kratos around the gigantic field of view found in the previous GoW series was discarded. Ifrit vs. Titan seems like a step up scale from Kratos vs. Chronos, you can’t see anything like that in the new GoW series.

The Versus XIII team got shuffled around from XIII to XIV and had to build an engine twice before they could finally start development proper and been then Tabata and his team had been moved in by Matsuda to “assist” with the transition from Versus to XV. Can’t really blame that on he current XIV team though, or the poor quality that XV would eventually release in.
I've just never seen him bring it up in defense of FFXV before. I'm sure he'll make some excuse about how Versus never took form because of Nomura being incompetent rather than his team being taken away.

But he never realizes that key people were demoted, least of all Yuichi Kanemori, the battle director who became the lead enemy programmer who then left after Duscae. This was the last of the Nomura team, while grunts such as Takayuki Kanbayashi were suddenly given lead roles despite having no experience just because Tabata wanted to flatten the hierarchy.
He also says that if Tokyo Team lackeys are there, it's a Tokyo Team game and it's better than Versus because all the harder edged stuff like grim reaper worship and political commentary are boring.
Unless Mitsunori Takahashi, Yuji Abe, Daisuke Sase, Takeo Kujiraoka, and Masanori Sato along with Kanemori worked on the game as battle system or content designers, then Tokyo Team battle devs did not work on the game.
15 has a stronger Tokyo Team connection because two of them were on it, but Forspoken does not. None of the aformentioned battle designers worked on the game, as Kanbayashi was simply an animator and not a battle system developer.
About Versus never taking form, I'm sure Stellafag can explain this better than I can but Tabata repeatedly called Versus 'barely an idea of a game' and being 20% in development when he began his takeover in 2012. He took shots at it so many times, and Barry uses the claim that Nomura's team was incompetent until Tabata stepped in and made everything work.

Roberto Ferrari has also said Versus’ development was pretty tumultuous, and he’s still very friendly with Nomura so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some truth to claim that Versus wasn’t coalescing. That's right. Not only was there no team for much of the game's development but The teams were even at odds. Ferrari had misunderstandings with Naora who stepped in with Tabata, and after 15 Naora left Square Enix entirely. Ferrari of course is now Nomura's new assistant, a member of the creative /division/ which also includes Nomura's other assistants like Daigo Tsukada, Mihoko Ishii, Gen Kobayashi, and Fumi Nakashima. Itahana is also there too. Nomura is likely in this division himself.

Combat has never been FF's strong suit. It's just an adventure with pretty locations. FFXV delivered where it matteted. To me it was a good game, but too small and short to be a great game. FF mode and Chronolith trials sounds like my kind of fun.
FF Mode sounds great. Wish they had a regular hard mode too for a first playthrough. I don't mind the "first playthrough is the tutorial" DMC mentality, but in that series this tutorial lasts 8 hours, not 30+.
They probably figured that the hard mode combat AI didn't make for an enjoyable experience with your limited toolset during an initial playthrough. Fighting hordes of super aggressive enemies when you have no ways of controlling and clearing out crowds usually devolves into long and tedious hit and run affairs.
Oh, for sure, I'm not asking for FF Mode to be unlocked from the start, just a regular Hard Mode that is the current Story Mode with enemies being slightly more aggressive and dealing more damage, as I'm sure the default mode will be braindead, it's FF tradition.
I'm really glad they made NG- available from the start in the PC version of FFXII, it's by far the best method of experiencing that game.

God of War did drop its sense of scale in the reboot though, so FFXVI surpassing it is not a high bar; due the direction of the camera always following Kratos around the gigantic field of view found in the previous GoW series was discarded. Ifrit vs. Titan seems like a step up scale from Kratos vs. Chronos, you can’t see anything like that in the new GoW series.

Unless Mitsunori Takahashi, Yuji Abe, Daisuke Sase, Takeo Kujiraoka, and Masanori Sato along with Kanemori worked on the game as battle system or content designers, then Tokyo Team battle devs did not work on the game.
15 has a stronger Tokyo Team connection because two of them were on it, but Forspoken does not. None of the aformentioned battle designers worked on the game, as Kanbayashi was simply an animator and not a battle system developer.
About Versus never taking form, I'm sure Stellafag can explain this better than I can but Tabata repeatedly called Versus 'barely an idea of a game' and being 20% in development when he began his takeover in 2012. He took shots at it so many times, and Barry uses the claim that Nomura's team was incompetent until Tabata stepped in and made everything work.
Roberto Ferrari has also said Versus’ development was pretty tumultuous, and he’s still very friendly with Nomura so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some truth to claim that Versus wasn’t coalescing. But it’s hard for the game to come together when you don’t have a fucking team to work on it for six damn years.

Ferrari had misunderstandings with Naora who stepped in with Tabata, and after 15 Naora left Square Enix entirely. Ferrari of course is now Nomura's new assistant, a member of the creative /division/ which also includes Nomura's other assistants like Daigo Tsukada, Mihoko Ishii, Gen Kobayashi, and Fumi Nakashima. Itahana is also there too. Nomura is likely in this division himself.
