Exclusive to a console everyone already abandoned
>abandoned
More like never bought in the first place
switch games are also exclusive
Of the best selling console of the generation. This is as moronic as comparing an Xbox or GameCube exclusive to a PS2 Exclusive.
the tendie cult is much more powerful than the snoy cult
Everyone and their mother has a switch. No one except massive fanboys has a PS5. Square's fault for doing an exclusivity deal.
PS5 exclusivity was its biggest sin, people there just want Western sjw games.
But it's not on the ps5
So it looks much better than D4
Comparing purchase stats to Nintendo games is useless, considering their consumers buy anything they shit out from terrible Pokémon games to literal cardboard kits.
>d-d-d-doesnt count!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is this the only pathetic response that snoys can come up with?
because parents buying tendy slop en masse to make their kids shut the frick up doesn't equate to games selling well because they are good.
you're (supposedly) a fricking adult and you should be ashamed for championing tendy slop intended as baby sitting substitutes for children, go get rid of your cardboard kits and play some real vidya.
>"abloo abloo buht muh splatoon"
ok pedo
>literal cardboard kits
Labo was a flop and so was the Wii U.
They really have nothing, even when multiplats sell better on the Switch they say it’s because tendies just buy anything.
How about this: tendies actually play games unlike snoys who buy the console for Netflix, CoD and the occasional movie game sony puts out once a year.
The first LABO kit alone has sold more than the known sales of the best selling PS5 exclusive at 1.42 million units. This is as of December 2021 and does not include the other kits. This doesn't diminish the point, however, as the most evident problem is that people don't buy games on the PS5.
Most of Ragnarok's sales are on PS5, and it sold over 10m.
We have no sales distribution for that claim to be validated. It is also not a PS5 exclusive to begin with.
Nintendo is also hacked and piracy on PC is a thing, there is no excuse. Switch dominates.
>considering their consumers buy anything they shit out
Thing is, you're comparing it to a Sony exclusive who's player base literally buy anything shat out on to the system rather than it being a meme said by kids so it's a very apt comparison when a game on a system
Mario Wonder and Mario RPG Remake look fricking amazing you homosexual, imagine being this much of a console war creep you can’t enjoy games.
PC chad here just for the lulz. Imagine being an adult male getting excited for Mario game #7564. Never change tendys, you guys are like a parody and you dont even know it.
Imagine NOT getting excited for Mario games when Mario is one of the most consistently video game franchises to ever exist. Even the NSMB games were still good.
If you mean boring, sure.
Only reason why NSMB games are successful is because they scratch the 2D Mario itch people have. 2D Mario games don't even get close to the classics
shit opinion. kys.
>PC chad
That's an oxymoron.
>considering their consumers buy anything they shit out
The Wii U exists.
this is a massive cope and i don't even need to go back two generations to prove you wrong: the wii u was a massive fricking flop
No, that is how they justify themselves now.
>considering their consumers buy anything they shit out
How is that different from YoshiP cultists?
top 5 spot is somehow bad. kys
It is for a Final Fantasy game that is pandering exclusively to western audiences and had frickton of money from both SE and Sony put into it.
>had frickton of money from both SE and Sony put into it.
game looks like shit, some quasi equivalent to FF13~FF14. Doesn't even hold a candle to FF7R of even FF15. They should have renamed this to be some subtitled spinoff game, or "put way more money into it", cause clearly they didn't put enough.
saying "frick" a lot doesn't mean it's a mature and advanced story, nor does it make the graphics look better.
Why do morons keep uttering this complete shite everyday? No one said that adding “frick” into the dialogue makes it mature you fricking homosexual.
"wiener"
What part of it is mature?
The grimdarkgritty edgy aesthetic?
Almost every major character getting killed after their bit of the game because the writers dont know what to do with them?
The ayylmaos?
The part where Clive calls you a Black person at the end of the game because of your low IQ post.
Yeah it's actually kinda bad for a release this big and this fresh. TotK has been out for weeks now and it's still selling better than FFXVI. The other three in the top 5 aren't even released yet. It's unfortunate that FFXVI couldn't make number 1 on release. Any analyst will tell you that release is when game sales peak and then it slows down from there.
PS5 exclusivity was a mistake.
if mario rpg does CRAZY numbers, maybe it'll get square to stop chasing the american dream
It probably won't. I'd love it if SE would wake the frick up and stop butchering Final Fantasy, but that'll never happen. It's too entrenched into the company and not even a change of leadership will reverse that course.
But back in the subject of SMRPG, it's a remake of an old game. They almost never pull better sales than the original. Well... SMRPG has a good chance since it's a remake of a SNES game, but I don't expect it to be shattering any sales records.
maybe... i remember talking to my friend and speculating on why they are remaking a game with the title "Super Mario RPG". Like the title is VERY video-gamey (with a game genre in its name), maybe it was apart of a marketing strategy for the mario bros movie
Filling the void M&L left when AlphaDream went under, more than likely. Might be trying to kickstart another Mario RPG series, basically. Which unfortunately means that Tanabe is determined to keep Paper Mario in Sticker Star hell.
Should I preorder Mario? Is it really that good? It might be the best JRPG released this year
Nah, wait until they show if they cut anything from the original, it will probably still be the bet JRPG from this year but you gotta pay for the whole experience, not a watered down one from """modern""" audiences
i never played super mario rpg on snes, but is it considered to be a little challenging? (considering its baby's first rpg) if it is. I wonder if they're gonna dumb down its difficulty.
mildly challenging but there are tons of side objectives and secret items if you want to power up
It is a bit challenging, a step above something like Pokémon, but I don't think they'll dumb down on that
SE complains that all of their games underperform
FF 16 could sell a morbillion dollars and SE would still say it failed to meet expectations
I actually believe they underperform against their projections. Rest in piece, Square Enix.
bankruptcy soon sisters
>SE starts making more money when they start putting out games on Switch
Really makes you think
I don't give a shit if they are profitable as a whole. They will disband their development studios and let the chinks develop shitty mobile ports of their games catalogue.
I wonder how much of this comes from their gacha division considering all their console games (Avengers, Forspoken, FFXVI) keep flopping.
Much of it. Also non-gaming divisions are a huge part of their success.
Someone else has the 2023 images if they are up at this time, my apologies for old image.
It is still relatively similar, except MMO contracts heavily (non expansion year) and HD games grows a bit along with Gacha iirc.
what even is squares big gatcha game?
>e
Not sure, they have a bunch. SAGA gacha actually does better than you'd guess iirc. FF ones are not as big as you'd expect.
I should add that SE is relatively well-known for starting gachas and then ending them after a year so their reputation is not so good in gacha as well (compared to the top gacha producers.)
They have like 6 gacha games I keep seeing ads for. Off the top of my head: Dissidia, War of the Visions, Dragon Quest, Romace SaGa, Echoes of Mana, Nier. There's probably even more I'm forgetting. I'm not sure how profitable they are, but they can't be expensive to maintain since they're all chibi / low poly.
I know they have a lot of mobile games but it doesn't seem like any of them crack the upper echelon of mobile game profitability. maybe that doesn't matter though. the mobile market is so big even small players can keep giant companies afloat
My point is that you don't need to be Genshin Impact to make a profit on gacha. I actually played one of their gacha way back in the early days (Fantasica or whatever) and I remember players were dropping thousands of dollars on it. Mind you this was a game using FFT-tier sprites that only got updated once a month at best.
They practically own 2nd biggest manga publisher in Japan. At this point their business profit was not from traditional video game lol.
a good amount of it last year came from them selling ips to embracer group. before that they had some big hits like ff7 remake and ff14
SE is way bigger than just their AAA stuff. FFXIV still carries them through whatever frickup they make. They also have some smaller studios like the ones who made Octopath Traveler (II), Triangle Strategy and Live a Live. They even publish some manga.
>Octopath Traveler (II), Triangle Strategy and Live a Live.
This is why I'm no longer too bothered by whatever they do with FF. They're treating me well elsewhere
There's still Rebirth next year but pretty much this, yeah. I'm more hyped for DQ Monsters on the Switch than that game.
>DQ
yikes
Can't be worse than modern final fantasy at this point.
I'm the sort of fricker who still hasn't played 7R because I played Trails of Mana at launch instead
>They even publish some manga.
Not just *some* manga, they're one of the largest manga publishers in Japan.
enix is not bigger than kodansha syueisha shogakukan kadokawa but surely they are fifth largest.
the advantage is that they are better than their competitors in terms of online publishing
Just pointing out that the increase in 2022 is from squeerix seling their entire catalogue of western IPs
Yes, it's also very possible for them to go negative if XVI does not perform well this year.
true but they still have 1 more trump card this fiscal year, and next year they probably have dq. they are safe for the time being, sadly.
True true. I wonder how much 7Rebirth costs to make. Knowing Square it is still far too high.
that's the reason why the games are snoy exclusive because the cost to make them would be too risky if they financed everything themselves
What year was the Sony money factored in? It could still be this year.
I know Squeenix is moronic, but they're not as moronic as to... do it for free, right?
No idea. You could be right. I am just speculating that they expected XVI to generate positive cash flow and so allocated resources such. With a large business, doing this might lead you to a loss year if the expected cash flow never comes.
Thank god
Keep listening to the mentally ill / politically ill correct troons.
All we wanted was a turn based game that felt like final fantasy, they need to go under already.
>All we wanted was a turn based game
This
FFXV was fricking dogshit with dogshit ass action combat. We wanted a return to roots, not fricking DMC.
XVI plays like XV. XV plays like Forspoken. Forpoken plays like XVI,
stop lying to yourself, XVI doesn't play like DMC.
>XVI plays like XV
kek
Look, bro. XVI is plenty disappointing in several aspects. You don't have to make shit up.
only difference is that you can cancel normals with eikon abilities. Same coders.
Holy shit, press fricking Triangle and use Magic Burst. How can you find this fun just mashing square on its lonesome?
Because it's not fun either way and mashing square seems to do more DPS
nta but I've got an honest question, how is that any worse than the combat in ffxv?
You do realize you can weave magic inbetween sword swings right? Like you can do a full mash square combo but with literally more extra damage. It is mathematically impossible for a non-magic burst combo to do more damage than magic burst combo.
Am I arguing with someone who hasn't played the game and just watched someone play the demo?
The animations have to play out moron kun, you can only cancel into a dodge.
It's not worse, it's almost the exact same combat as XV and it's also the exact same combat as forspoken
Do you have any proof that mashing square does more DPS than magic burst combos?
I lied, it's roughly the same damage. The only thing that boost the numbers in a significant way are the Eikons abilities. This is not different form HiFi rush where you chain the ""AWESOME"" button to do a lot of damage.
It's just mediocre gameplay.
>I lied
we know
it doesn't chaining magic bursts with the attacks doesn't boost the damage if that's what you are thinking. There is no reason to not mash square over doing them
>doesn't boost the damage if that's what you are thinking
How the frick does that make sense?
>it's almost the exact same combat as XV and it's also the exact same combat as forspoken
can you explain to me how?
As a DMCgay, having magic bursts as the only way to spice up your normal combos is kinda fricking trite past a certain point.
I'd like it better if there were some delay combo variations.
I played the demo and never got hit in any of the fights. Was the demo easy mode and is it more challenging on hard?
source
Yandex search of that image lead me to this.
https://www.xfreehd.com/video/29621/hinata-aizawa-careless-girl-gets-hit-on
You were on hard if you picked action focused. The only harder mode is on new game plus. But it doesn't change the very generous iframe situation, where you can dodge everything continually.
Well that fricking sucks. What was the difference in cinematic mode?
Only difference is you get accessories to auto-dodge, auto-use abilities off cooldown, auto-heal and maybe some other stuff I forgot.
Number values don't change. MMO devs, please understand.
If you played the game, it plays just like an FF (more so than 13 did with its complete lack of towns/actual side quests), other than the combat.
But anon yoshida said that by making a FF for people who don't like FF and grew up with GTA and FPS he wanted to bring back old fans. It wasn't Square intention to alienate them even more.
Yoshida made the mistake of thinking FF can ever be relevant again. It was hanging on by a thread after the lightning bullshit, and XV finally killed it. All SE can hope to do is continue to nostalgia bait with ff7. For the mainline, it's on the same level as the tales of series now.
Maybe if SE would focus on making fun games like Nintendo, instead of boring visual novels with mediocre stories and bad gameplay than they wouldn't be tanking. They should've realized by now that nobody wants shitty melodramatic visual novels with nonexistent or shit gameplay. People want actual games.
>nobody wants shitty melodramatic visual novels with nonexistent or shit gameplay
Persona proved otherwise
This chart just exposed how illiterate average Ganker dweller is
>make complete garbage and flop after flop
>record profits
infinite money glitch
>EA and blizzard also showing this strange phenomenon
AAA gaming is so fricking fricked
>mfw play FFXIV
>all the profits from the game goes into doing shitty other projects that just fail
>game is getting less and less content each pass and clearly has less money put back into it
From a business standpoint, it's smart because they have made the decision that the mmorpg audience won't leave so why try harder.
Better to spend more money on other projects and just milk the mmo audience dry with minimal spending.
You know what sucks? They add a new $20 mount and people eat that shit up
I don't understand doesn't this chart say they are making bank?
wtf happened in 2011 and 2013?
Those were the years before FF14 came out, then again before FF14 ARR came out. So probably a money sink of a failing MMO, then making a second MMO while supporting the previous failed MMO
We'll see what S-E says about the sales, digital is like near 50% these days and why is someone buying it physically on Amazon two days later. I think Link's Awakening showed that anything on the Switch, even decades old visual bump ups will sell.
When you show a chart like this it does not take inflation into account. Every single one of the developers wages have skyrocketed inline with inflation.
I actually assumed that FF16 would do terrible, but apparently OP's image shows that it's doing really good
What did they do that made it a successful release? Is it honestly just Game Of Thrones-bait that did it?
Absolutely pathetic cope Lmao.
that I thought 16 would do terrible? I don't think that's cope, I think it was a legitimate position. FFs haven't been relevant in decades
its flopped before release
Too bad they put gay sex in their game. No money from me ever again.
There's no gay sex and you get to kill both of the gays
they didn't include Black folk, though.
FFXVI is the one game I wanted to play the most.
But I’ll end up getting all the other ones instead because I only own a Switch.
Can't exactly buy the thing on Xbox or PC and it ain't no 10/10 PS5 system seller either
As usual, SE will gain their profits via free money from Epic.
>all japanese games
why can't the west do anything bros
>nintendo gives people a voucher discount to buy digitally
>nintendo physical games that are months from releasing still beat ff16
Sad
>Pikmin 1+2 selling better than Pikmin 4
oh man this game is going to bomb hard
Nobody cares about consoles anymore, at least in the EU.
If you play games you play them on the PC
Steam stats show that yurocucks make less than 10% of the gaming audience, therefore they are irrelevant.
>steam stats of a userbase where you can make a free account
your "statistic" is completely meaningless low IQ prole
Steam is the only way to gauge userbases based on their country when it comes to PC gaming.
I hope it will flop. I don't want FF to die.
If it will flop, mainline FF will die for sure. They'll just milk the brand with remake, spin off and mobile garbage, but mainline will be dead for decades
SE usually self-sabotage their AA-releases by undershipping them so they can't outsell their AAA releases.
I wonder what their shareholder meeting will be like when Mario RPG sells more worldwide than FFXVI and FFVII: Rebirth on a fraction of the budget.
>bass raps unchained

Why does the Mario Wonder game have the troony flag colors in the name?

>outsold by a nintendo game
fix'd. still as embarrassing though. nintendo is for literal children
Super Mario RPG is made by Square Enix
Oh but you gotta be such a big boy to play final (gay sex) fantasy 16.
>outsold by a turn-based game that isn't even out yet
Ironic
The irony is off the charts
MMO devs = MMO quality = Do not Play
Many people heeded the formula.
The least ambitious Final Fantasy...
>turnbased Mario RPG outselling Game of Thrones slop XVI
Good.
Not an rpg.
moron it says RPG on the box, so it IS an RPG.
But *I* say it's not.
oh... i guess you were referring to ff16, im sorry for my rude comments...
Both.
frick u gay
Deckbros how is the switch still alive... This isn't fair... Our piracy should've killed Nintendo...

>Snoy FOTM is top of the Snoy bestseller list
>best selling game on the PlayStation at the moment
That's a really low bar considering how little PS exclusives sell. Call me when a PS exclusive sells 50 millions like MK8D or 11 millions in 3 days like TotK
>>best selling game on the PlayStation at the moment
What else is there?
Top 10 bestsellers here are
>1. FFXVI
>2. D4
>3. Fortnite
>4. NBA 2K
>5. Fifa
>6. COD
>7. Apesex
>8. SM2
>9. GTA Online
>10. F1 23
So a pretty dry roster.
how europeans have amazingly shit taste
That can't be Europe. No way is NBA higher than Fifa in the EU.
I'm a leaf but I don't blame you.
>>2. D4
>>3. Fortnite
>>4. NBA 2K
>>5. Fifa
>>6. COD
Ouch.
Just like that time with Horizon:FW. It was PS5 best selling for 1 month and then went quiet for a year.
Cloud and Sephiroth getting replaced with Geno and Mallow in Smash 6 confirmed
It literally shows you how many copies TOTK and FFXVI have sold in the last week. TOTK sold over ten thousand in the last week, FFXVI has sold pic related.
This game is potentially a bigger flop than forspoken
>4k
Holy frick
Yes, and the biggest "slow buyer" market is JRPG players because they are often slowly playing through many other JRPGs when a release happens.
They have no reason to buy XVI. Maybe if it's heavily discounted they will give it a shot.
I expect it to be on PS Plus within a year.
source? seems like according to famitsu and amazon the biggest slow buyer market is racing and multiplayer
RPGs sell over decade long periods in fairly high numbers.
It does depend on the time-frame however, my language was not precise.
do you have any source for that beyond your speculation?
Yes. Check FF games yourself to see how sales increase over decade long periods. Same with Kiseki games. Same with Atlus games. Same with Divinity OS games. Same with Pillars of Eternity. ETC.
I don't have a handy-dandy chart with everything on it, you can check individual games as I have if you wish to have proof. Or you can choose to disbelieve something that is verifiably true. Your choice.
Meanwhile racing games sale value ends as soon as a newer product is out. Again, easily verifiable.
mario kart has sold 10s of millions every year nearly a decade after first release.
usually they have sales spikes when the price drops though. this is true for all genres. square isn't going to get that sweet $70 day 1 purchase.
Yes, this is also true. I am more speaking out people "going back" and purchasing old games for a very long time.
No one is going to do this for Mario Kart etc. The newest one is what sells.
RPGs do not perform like this.
What? There are no big JRPG release lately. Unless you're counting something like Dungeon Traveler or EO
Black person the newest Pokemon games sold twenty million copies in a month
So we're comparing XVI to a game released in November last year. If XVI releases on PC next year and still flop, who are you gonna blame next? ToTK?
Also SV only sold like 4k last month.
The game is not even targeted to JRPG audience but to casuals who never played FF before.
>4k
So how much panic do you guys think is going on at SE right now? Also when's Yoshi-P's sudoku stream.
game awards proved se had no faith in this game. they had moved on before the game even released
Should have stayed an RPG
Does that count pre orders from before a week ago, because I'd image that many of the pre orders were from then
the game has only been out what like 3 days?
Only 1 day
So this is what Sony meant when they said their games would be at 4k.
Lel
>Leftists hate the game for not having enough brown people, and because the writing sucks (and subsequently so do the female characters)
>Chuds hate the game for glorifying homosexuals
>Old FF fans hate the game for shitting on the series' tradition and being unable to understand what made it great.
>Target audience hates the game because it has too many cutscenes interrupting the DMC clone gameplay.
Of course it was going to sell horribly.
>the series' tradition and being unable to understand what made it great
Well can you name those two things?
Final Fantasy have always been about how beautiful and heroic and loving things are able to transcend beyond things like death, or the passage of time, for they originate in something eternal. FFXVI literally has you travel to The Origin from FF9 except this time you are Satan spouting gross lines about fedora nonsense.
>Final Fantasy have always been about how beautiful and heroic and loving things are able to transcend beyond things like death, or the passage of time, for they originate in something eternal
Damn dude, that sounds beautiful. It's like at the end of FFXIV endwalker where you defeat the personification of despair itself empowered by the hopes and prayers of your comrades.
Yeah that's super fricking generic.
If there's been so many games with that theme, maybe they should do something different for the sake of it lmao. Like yeah I know a lot of people will literally buy the same game over and over again, but frick man some variety wouldn't kill you.
They're out of stock until mid July.

say it ain't so!
They copied the wrong Devil May Cry game: they were supposed to copy DMC but instead copied DmC
Doesn't really matter if you're copying a shit series in the first place
Black person they copied 5. 16 plays just like DMC5 Nero except not as deep.
What they should've done is make clive play like Dante with all abilities at his disposal, no looking cool with zero effort, and tuned enemies to account for it all but for some reason they're moronic.
Literally assign all the Eikon switching to the D pad, and have the ones you can't fit be a second press of a given direction similar to Dark Slayer in DMC 4. Or a modifier button + Dpad
on’t care,I’m still purchasing Final Fantasy XVI Deluxe Edition at launch for $89.99 USD, only available to me on the PlayStation 5. Play has No Limits with Square Enix’s (Squeenix wink wink) premiere new title. See you on your chocobo, chocobros!
I don't buy games with gay shit.
Simple as.
Sony's the wokestation so it's not surprising, a shame though.
You know the west can't accept a game that has heterosexual romance between a "white" and conventionally fit and and attractive male and female.
I know you are still bitter about the fact Flopspoken was so bad it killed luminous productions, but let it rest dude. You are reaching too hard.
>he doesn't know
Luminous worked on ff16
Reminder that Takahashi wanted to make a GoT-inspired mature RPG but thankfully Nintendo shot his idea down. And FF16 is proof that they were right to tell him to make more Xenoblade.
Nintendo needs a game like that to be honest. Sony already has god of war which does everything FFXVI is trying to do but more competently
>god of war which does everything FFXVI is trying to do but more competently
kek what? you're gonna have to explain that one to me.
they have bayonetta. kinda almost similar
nah Bayonetta is a dumb coomer game with no mainstream appeal whatsoever
well neither does FF. this is proof of that. the only reason gow has any mainstream appeal is because sony gives it out for free with every playstation sold
xvi being disappointing doesn't mean I have to pretend xeno3 was good.
I'm fairly certain Xenoblade 3 WAS the "dark and violent" game Takahashi wanted to make, seeing as one of its core theme is literally about the value of life in death and its protagonists are child soldiers stuck in an endless bloodshed.

It would be really fricking funny if FFXVI sold less than fricking xC which struggles to go over 2 millions.

Based Nintendo trying to reign in his moronic nonsense.
Unfortunately Xenoblade 3 is still woke and censored.
Atleast SE can still announce they have this year's best selling RPG Hahaha!
Starfield though
Super Mario RPG has already more preorder than the released XVI is selling
It might seem delusional, improbable, absurd. But BG3 actually has a chance. Larian has a great, great deal of Reddit momentum behind them.
I own it on Steam Deck and the control seem like they will suck on console,!plus there isn’t anyway to mod it.
I will probably get this on Steam Deck if it looks decent after release. So far the only game I’m really looking forward to on PS5 is Armored Core VI. Really glad the FFXVI Demo convinced me not to waste my money on a 17 hour cutscene I can just watch on YouTube. I’m watching it currently and it sucks that’s why I’m /here/.
Not an rpg.
Not even a jarpig
ff16 is just highlander copy pasta
Alright homie. What are you talking about?
that ff16 is just copy pasted highlander
Honestly, this is what the yoshipiss cultists get. All that barry this, barry that. Literal years shittalking FFXV and now XV is shown to be the superior game.
You trannies should've just kept your fricking mouths shut.

The problem is Yoshi-P didn't realise tbe audience for GoT he's aping don't want a game featuring porcelain faced JRPG characters. Like whatever audience they expected to tap into at the expense of FF fans are going to want something like God of War Ragnarok.
The little I've seen of nuGoW make it look like some kind of trailer trash reality TV drama lol
Yoshi-P sisters... where you at... I'm running out of my copium...
Should've include more Black folk to appease the mutt audience.
kek it's fricked up but it's true. There area actually mutt reviews that list the lack of Black folk as a negative.
It's cute how they tried to ape the boss phase transition scenes from FF7R but they didn't have any of the choreography or camera work to pull them off
I don't a webm of anyone of them so have this slide one instead
I'm not gonna start pretending remake was good just because xvi was bad.
Who asked you to pretend, schizo
>I'm not gonna start pretending remake was good just because xvi was bad
Remake was a fantastic game, and I'm sick of pretending otherwise
XIV actually did those before 7R.
But 7R completely mogs both XIV and XVI in terms of boss phase changes/cinematography.
SOUL
The game has sold over 1 million units in a few days which was more than what 15, Lightning Returns, 13-2, and 13 all did. It took more than a week for 15 to move that much.
It's barry who is preordering super mario rpg with different accounts
You jest, and yet...
You should see what the accounts leaving 0 user scores on metacritic look like.
Pikmin?
How the hell did that series get on a list like that?
It's really tempting boys... should I buy the pikmin bundle?
Of course.
There is a lot of hunger for more Pikmin. Similar to Final Fantasy, except Nintendo actually delivers what the audience wants.
>Similar to Final Fantasy
lol no one wants FF anymore Black person. Shit like ffvii remake can do well despite being shit because it's selling entirely off nostalgia.
Nostalgia is hunger too, but feel free to believe what you want Black personhomosexual.
I mentioned ffvii didn't I, you dumb b***h.
My point was new mainline FFs are dead. SE will have to get comfy with the idea of new FF games being niche titles, or enjoy making flops.
>lol no one wants FF anymore Black person.
Posting this in a thread where it's on a list of best sellers alongside Mario and Zelda makes you contrarian of the day. Congrats.
Forspoken was is in the bestsellers and a flop too.
They're fun
>Final Fantasy XVI is being outsold by games that won't be out for months
>Amazon
I ordered form Walmart.
Some people get digital.
Some buy in store
Are americans this dumb that they don't know what representativeness is?
tsk tsk tsk. you fricked up, yoshida-san. you failed to understand final fantasy is weeb shit.
FF was never weebshit.
DQ, Tales, Star Ocean, those are weebshit
FF homosexuals are mad that Dragon Quest aged better than FF. People start to love old DQ games and start to laugh about old FF games.
>FF homosexuals are mad that Dragon Quest aged better than FF
anon, nobody outside of Japan really plays Dragon Quest. I like it, but I'm not going to pretend that it's something that even hits many people's radar in the West.
>Release game on a console barely anybody has
>Most of the PS5 install base is people who only care about CoD and Fifa
>Surprised when it doesn't sell
SE is the only one to blame here.
Why aren't Snoys buying video games?
Because people have less leisure time than ever and little expendable income, while games are more expensive than ever.
because they can go outside
Not surprised. I wouldn't say its bad. It completely uninspiring, which is amazing since Final Fantasy has always been the pioneer when it comes to the first entry on a new console.
Everything about it is just a downgrade from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. FF7R looks better, plays better. The characters and narrative from FF7R can range from stupid to batshit insane but FF16 is super safe by just being another boring ass Game of Thrones knockoff.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is going to blow FF16 so goddamn hard no one will remember it.
The exclusive deal is considered as sales, they got hundreds of millions for that.
>game looks like shit, some quasi equivalent to FF13~FF14. Doesn't even hold a candle to FF7R
some of you motherfrickers really love to oversell how "good" this piece of shit game looked and I honest to god don't know why
The PS4 release has fricked up textures.
Works on my machine trash piles still look whack this was a low blow bro
>mmoBlack person seething over VII
it never ends kek
God I cant wait for Thursday to see the biggest meltdown this board has ever seen. I am setting my alarm clock for that famitsu thread
Eric and hopefully barry will be there too. Im gonna witness history on Ganker
It's amazing because it doesn't matter if it's a success or a flop, there will a meltdown. I still hope for a flop because this is a dogshit direction for the franchise.
Wait what happens on Thursday? I thought XVI was already out.
The numbers Mason
If it does less than 100K which it will is a guaranteed flop.
What I wanna see is how many weeks will it manage to be the #1.
It will be hilarious when fricking Pikmin 4 outsells it
I don't think it'll do THAT bad. I think the game will do 200k physical and maybe ~450k digital.
IT'll do over 100k but just barely, probably 110-125k, which is horrifically embarrassingly bad but you know how it's going to go
>It's ok famitsu sales are bad because japan doesnt matter for Final Fantasy now, it'll make it up in the west
>It's ok western sales are bad because it came out late in the month, it'll pick up next month
>It's ok the total sales were bad because it's a PS5 exclusive and nobody owns a PS5, it'll pick up on PC
>It's ok the PC sales are bad because it's epic games store exclusive, it'll pick up once it's on steam
>It's ok the steam sales are bad because it's old now
Yup. It's XV part two. This time with added MMOgay insanity.
you forgot the
>ninety nine percent of sales are digital!
That is basiccaly the pipeline for console exclusives these days.
>It's ok famitsu sales are bad because japan doesnt matter for Final Fantasy now, it'll make it up in the west
Its more Japan only buys Switch games. Tactics Ogre outsold God of War Ragnarok in their first weeks
>God of War Ragnarok
Only reason that game sold anything in Japan was because it was bundled with consoles. Same with Horizon
and Ragnarok still sold 5.1 MILLION in its first 5 days. If the first week sold 30k in Japan, but sold 5m everywhere else, its a clear sign that Japan ain't buying a 500USD console to play a big cinematic action game.
Japan only buys games that appeal to them on a platform that appeals to them. Playstation used to be very popular in japan until they abandoned it to chase call of duty, ubishit and EA.
Seeing them get betrayed by those companies in return is wonderful
Famitsu sales will probably be in the range of 300000 to 400000 although that number is embarrassing considering even FF15 sold 700000 units in its first week. (Of course the percentage of downloads has increased since then, but I doubt it's enough to surpass FF15's numbers.)
15 also released pre-Switch which basically made them all stop playing the 3DS.
I think people just haven't found a good between of filler and good fights still with turn based. Its not a problem just for them though, the Yakuza series is primarily beat em ups but holy frick stop coming at me you fricks these fights aren't that fun anymore 40 hours in and I got to do 3 of these between ever main mission it seems.
I'd really like to just see zero filler fights, all fights are dev-hand placed and instead of 2-3 smaller fights just give me a frick huge fight
It feels like many at Square Enix don't understand they are supposed to be a job.
Why would you make a division to create mmorpg content, and have these specialists then make a single player game?
Not only did they make a bad single player game, but they starved the main cash cow titles they were supposed to be building for years. FF14 is weaker and has been for years for them working on ff16 and they still have years left working on the pc version.
>Why would you make a division to create mmorpg content, and have these specialists then make a single player game?
Because the MMO is the most successful thing Square has had in the last 10 years that isn't a mobile game. From a suit's perspective, it makes sense to "take the people in charge of the most successful thing you have, and have them work on a new thing so they make a new successful thing".
I disagree that it's a bad SP game, I actually think its very good, but I agree that it was a mistake to take them off their cash cow. The cash cow suffers by splitting their attention.
It's amazing Square haven't gone bankrupt.
They could of made 2 massive expansions and an entire engine revamp for ff14 instead of working on ff16, and had another division make 16 but instead they do this.
It's the result of sectionalism, tribalism, and silo organizational culture that is very common in Japanese companies.
Since FF15, they have not even been able to unify their internal game engines into one (CBU3 uses a game engine developed in-house, while CBU1 uses UE), but this is a problem that arises from the fact that each develop departments in the company has a completely different work style and not under the unified management.
now finally the development departments have been merged into 4 departments, but there were 11 different departments in the past.
The CBU1, led by Nomura and Kitase, would not want Yoshida's success in their hearts because it would change the power balance in the company.
Yes, this is why Kitase told Yoshida "do whatever you want". It was rope for Yoshida to hang himself with, which he has kindly obliged with.
Now his terrible meddling will finally be gone, especially since his protector, Matsuda, was eliminated earlier.
He has a new protector though. The CEO's wife is XIVgay
The new CEO or the old one
Kiryu-chan
lel
Time will show the true tale, and the trap was already sprung. New guy has no political capital, and will go wherever he is safe (CEOs are fall guys who don't want to fall.)
So are you saying that CBU1 guys are spiteful scums who would rather destroy people careers and company's earnings if it means they could stay at the top of company's hierarchy?
Yes, especially since CBU3 and Yoshida are doing the exact same thing to them. It's kill or be killed.
CBU3 sapped resources from multiple major singleplayer projects. Getting rid of them will help the company start making KINO again.
This is the direct result of Sakaguchi's TSW blunder. It used to be that Mainline FF was handled by Kitase, Nomura et Al, actual veterans of the franchise.
Yoshi-P is literally just another Keiji Inafune waiting to happen.
Blizzard made teams to work on wow and that is literally all they do, they even took on 100 extra developers recently and square does the exact opposite.
ff16 needs to flop for them to wake up and go back to being a Japanese developer, they need to stop trying to be a western developer in japan
They need a wake up call like inafune and all his westoid flops almost killed capcom
>baby kid shit
>teenaged audience and up edgelord final fantasy game
Guess which had a wider appeal? Nintendoids are just that big of consooomers
Nintendo games sell less than Xbox sales cards in amazon
Kinda dishonest comparison
Also why are they ignoring amazon jp?
So what's gonna be the next cope when actual sales numbers start to come out and it's a huge success?
Do you trannies have one yet or are you just going day by day?
>and it's a huge success?
Come on now
>You trannies
You're the one liking a game with trannies and homosexuals.
see you at the famitsu thread. This is the last cope for you guys
The lesson here is don't put gays in your games. Fricking pozzed Square Enix
Besides the homosexualry in this otherwise period setting game I don't understand why FF fans would hate on this game. It just looks like a longform DMC with a lot more content and customization? I've only played FF10 but what's even the issue that a game like this would be outsold by SMRPG. It looks like everything FF13 etc were trying to be
Bland.
If this was a DMC game, then it would have better enemy positioning and overall level design. Not a bunch of HP sponges lined up to make it seem like it's difficult.
>I've only played FF10 but what's even the issue that a game like this would be outsold by SMRPG
Because it shits on Yoshi-Pee's entire premise
>It just looks like a longform DMC with a lot more content and customization?
That's the thing, it's not.
It lacks the combat depth, enemy variety and difficulty of DMC and opts instead to just make enemies damage sponges for the player to wail on because
>look ma! Pretty lights!
>Console's not alive.
>DMC still has more depth just because of its gameplay loop, not 'depth' that ultimately doesn't mean anything.
>DMC has more content by being replayable. Also has the bloody palace which is super replayable. 5 minute unskippable cutscenes masquerading as gameplay because 3 QTE's were sprinkled in is not replayable.
>It's "Final Fantasy (insert number)" in name only along with, 11, 12, 14 and 15.
even Japanese do not want this garbage
>ethics committee tifa
kek you are like a israelite with no principles.
>muh ethics committee
>while there is Tifa standing with her tiddies out
the pearl-clutching in these threads is on another level
I remember when you homosexuals sperged against ff7r
Remember when every complained about Tifa's breast reduction for a literal god damn year once her reveal at E3? Good times
XVI's anything but woke, the homosexual is one of the best characters.
People aren't falling for SE's marketing garbage after XV, not that they pushed XVI as hard but still.
>FF15
>authentic
Jesus what terrible bait, have a nice day
Let's hope 17 lets us have (female) fanservice again. 16 spent all it's fanservice on Clive's ass.
It's being made by Yoko Taro so it should unless the ethics team stop him
You say that as if there aren't full scenes where Jill and Benedicta are naked, multipule in Benedicta's case
Making your game ps5 exclusive will do that
Off-topic, but for you actual boomers out there, what was the reception to Super Mario RPG on its original release? It sold well and is still thought of fondly so it shouldn't have been that bad, but were people like "what the frick is this? why is Square wasting their time on marioshit?" or was it hype?
No one gave a frick. I sure as frick didn't.
Well, it's outselling FFXVI.
It came out around the same time as the n64 and people were much more interested in that
People liked it a lot, but I didn't play it myself (still haven't.)
People were mostly hyped for it especially Geno in smashgays.
Came out way too late within the SNES lifespan. I remember seeing it in magazines and the whole Squaresoft working with Nintendo seemed to give it more credibility.
But SNES was dead by then, PC gaming was getting better. Quake came out a few months after this was released.
dunno about everyone else but I didn't play it until 1998 after my brother found out about it in a Funcoland ad paper thing, got it for 30 USD back then and was worth every penny, game was great and I understand Genogays despite him being from a game 25+ years ago
32 here, got it used because as others have said the N64 was coming out and no one cared about the SNES. I've always had a thing for it but I really like everything outside the combat, more than the combat itself. RPGs usually don't have these platforming segments and finding the secrets was always fun
It came between Chrono Trigger and Lufia 2 so it wasn't exactly hyped. The action elements in it were enough to make me dislike it. I've never cared about story so the idiocy of trying to force a story into Mario wasn't much of a problem. I think I tried another mario rpg since but never finished it.
Okay Lufia 2 is not that fricking big man. Legit a top 10 boss theme track, but Lufia 1 didn't exactly move units to make the sequel do better.
I had a Super Nintendo but, this game wasn't released in Europe. I got to play it in the early 2000s on a emulator. It didn't appeal to me at all but, I genuinely loved FFIV,V and VI.
The best scenario is FFXVI flopping and then Rebirth saves the company, and after that KH4 shows Yoshi-Poser how to do Action RPGs.
The best scenario would be a reboot of Final Fantasy 1 that is turn based and takes inspiration from the open world of the last two Zelda games
kys yourself
only way to save the franchise is to get rid of the cringe story and have an explorable open world
Funny how suddenly FF7R is praised
FF cycle
>suddenly
He is right though, all ff7 remake threads were about tifa being censored or being called a shill
Oh yeah I remember the schizo threads
Actually, it's 15 getting praised now. Fifteen. lol Which, of course, I predicted (correctly). And when 17 drops suddenly 16 will be the true baste and keyed game, as we all know.
Not if 17 is turn based (ATB or literal), It's literally that simple.
FF fans will love it
broader JRPG style fans will love it
And the FOTM gamers will be filtered bacause they're not into that type of gameplay
Game's budget would be lower,
They don't need to market frick all because everyone knows what it's going to be
they're going to turn a huge profit then do the same for 18
This. How is this not the direction? Square-Enix is not a AAA company. It stopped being one after Sakaguchi botched TSW.
Problems started after X. What was after 10? The first MMO.
It's a very simple reality. MMOs killed Final Fantasy. Killing the MMOs will begin the healing process.
Classic ff barely get any thread or debate
DQ11 threads died
Nobody talks about OT2 anymore
Just admit people love to complain more than anything
Because there was nothing to complain about, it was usually tribalism between fans of different entries.
Nintendo mods even allow reddit threads if its against square enix
I doubt tendies will allow a normal ff thread unless a new game triggers them more
>Barely get any thread or debate
1. That's the point
2. Classic FF is old
Neo twewy, DQ11 and OT2 are not that old.
Hell mods delete some trails threads now and atelier get cado spammed
I was thinking of making point 2's intent clear before posting but let me rephrase,
1. That's the point
XV is trash
I'm shocked that Super Mario RPG is outselling Wonder. You'd think Wonder being a 2D platformer would give it an edge sales wise, but nope.
2D mario is a casual game that parents will impulse buy for their children. It'll sell millions during november/december and will outsell Super Mario RPG easily. Super Mario RPG is one of those games like Earthbound where everyone who follows videogame shit online knows about them but hasn't actually played them (because only a freak would play a jrpg on a computer monitor) so initially more people will seek it out but it'll have no legs
ff16 have the best combat of any game SE produced. Kingdom hearts? Writing that just makes me puke, who in their right mind would willingly play a game with a cringe name and cringier story. It's ok to like it like the people who watches the Room in a theater and bringing spoons with other cringelovers. But unironically liking it? Wtf.
youre beyond moronic
This. I really want to love KH since they have a genuinely fun gameplay but lord almighty the stories are just so fricking banal and cringe even for JRPG standard.
KH2's the only one worth playing
samegayging
Good
They dont need to reinvent the wheel with every new game
Go back to the roots
Yoshi-P is Keiji Inafune 2.0
I'm actually sort of shocked that XVI is apparently successful
Ganker is talking about and shitposting about it nonstop like every 30 minutes with a new thread. I just assumed it would die off super fast like prior modern FFs
>FF16 and the Deluxe version are the 2nd and 3rd best selling games of June behind Zelda
>while bearing in mind Switch carts are more advantageous that Playstation discs because you're actually saving console storage
>there's literally a PS5 model that doesn't accept physical discs so digital is the only way to go
really gets the noggin joggin
>while bearing in mind Switch carts are more advantageous that Playstation discs because you're actually saving console storage
Don't they load more slowly as a result though (I mean even accounting for the different in speed of the systems)? So it's a speed vs storage tradeoff?
No not really, carts in general loads so much faster than disc. That's also why games on PlayStation and xbox install to the drive rather than playing from the disc nowadays.
Ah true I forgot about that, I suppose it depends how much compression they employ to squash it into the cart size they choose
More compression, longer it takes to "unzip" that content leading to longer loading times on physical
BotW and TotK are beefy by Nintendo's standards so there might be a bit of extra loading time there, but I reckon it's negligible with their smaller games
>all jap games, no western shit
lule
>conveniently ignoring digital sales
>buying 7 PSN cards to buy a game digitally
so true sister
The alternative is trusting Sony with your credit card info and we all know that's a bad idea.
>he's serious
KEK
nta, but I assume they're talking about prior security breaches Sony has had with private data. There was one point where it was discovered there were storing PWs in fricking plain text, it was so bad.
no you dunce, he was making fun of the fact that it's the 10$ cards to buy digital games, when there's 50$ and 70$ cards. its obvious these are used for fornite micro transactions
>wow takes on an army of new developers to try make more content
>square enix understands a better strategy is to make less content for your flagship title and increase prices on the cash shop instead
>don't have the staff to make a new cash shop mount cause they are busy with 16
>take one from the game instead and sell that
Being outsold by Super Mario RPG is actually a really big deal lmao
The world is healing
There’s something so comical about it.
The Western-pandering FF that abandons it’s RPG elements will be outsold by a turn-based RPG Square themselves developed back for the SNES
>locked to the PS5 versus the Switch in a year where Mario gets a billion dollar movie and a 2D entry
This board still always talks about 7R being a failure sales wise too
According to all the threads being spammed the PS5 is the fastest selling most successful console ever. Seems to me like such a high profile game on such a successful console shouldn't be outsold by the remake of an old cult game. Especially when said old game is crumby old turn based which we all know is completely outdated.
Going hack n slash with this series. Frick off Square Enix, just frick off.
Isn't that normal tho that Nintendie games are kneeling on the competition?
One would not expect this level of devastation for a brand new, mainline Final Fantasy.
XV sold much better immediately.
For Mario spin offs that aren't Kart? No.
They tend to trend lower and cap off at 2-3m units sold.
If pre orders this early are exceeding a game that just released then it's going to be massive on the day.
Ask yourself this, do you think Super Mario RPG outperformed Final Fantasy 6 when it came out?
Protip: the answer is no.
So if Super Mario RPG Remake outperformes Final Fantasy 16 that would be outright disastrous.
And it absolutely will, unless something goes wrong for Nintendo or Square Enix decided to make that game as shit as possible.
Well FF6 came out 2 years prior and SM RPG had to compete with the N64. Not exactly the best comparison when the Switch is nearing passing the PS2 as the all time best selling console of all time. Times are also very different, Mario movie just mad absolute bank and a new era of kids getting into Mario with all the pushes from theme parks, to new games.
How long till Square Enix take on western whiteoid lead developers? They seem to think the west is the future and are pandering hard already so it can't be long.
COD SISTERS WE WON!
Bloomberg did not quote Kitase directly on the question, but Schreier wrote, “But when it comes to evolution, how far could Final Fantasy go? Could the next version leave behind its role-playing roots and turn into, say, a first-person military shooter? Yes, Kitase says, he’d be open to a Final Fantasy game in the style of Call of Duty, as preposterous as it may sound.” Kitase then elaborated that new and boundary-pushing ideas like this are likely to come from the younger staff they’ve accumulated, as he said: “My imagination really has its limits, so it’s really great to have a new generation of creators on board.”
Even Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida agreed that Call of Duty already has some elements in common with Final Fantasy, saying with a laugh that “when you think about it, it’s this small group of people going around saving the world—that’s very Final Fantasy.”
All of this isn’t to say that Final Fantasy XVII is suddenly going to become a first-person shooter, but it is to say that Square Enix would consider it if the team came up with a really terrific concept. Yoshida explained while talking to Bloomberg that Square Enix had offered no direction or mandates about what Final Fantasy XVI should be — it was simply up to his Creative Business Unit III team to figure it out. And they did! Impressions of the demo have been extremely positive overall, so we’ll see how the rest of the 30ish-hour game plays out when it launches this week.
This has to be a damn parody.
No you know what do it Square. Just fricking do it. Just don't touch Dragon Quest. You have convinced me to install an emulator to play DQ Monsters on my PC.
That is just Kitase baiting Yoshida into making what he made so he would fail and thus be fired.
They let Yoshida hang himself.
Dont worry guys, surely the ff brand will grow if we keep them exclusive to a single platform.
>Having sold 16.4 million units worldwide as of September 30, Monster Hunter World is by far Capcom’s most successful game of all time
>the action RPG has sold more on PC so far than it has on the PS4 (or on the Xbox One), which is a bit of a surprise, considering the fact that it launched on PC roughly half a year after it did on consoles. The game has sold over 5.7 million units on PC outside of Japan, while on PS4 it has sold over 5.5 million units. On Xbox One, the game has sold over 1.7 million units.
https://gamingbolt.com/monster-hunter-world-on-pc-outselling-the-ps4-version-outside-of-japan-as-per-leaked-sales-figures
>Cyberpunk 2077 sold 13.7 million copies in 2020, over half on PC
https://www.pcgamesn.com/cyberpunk-2077/pc-sales
Elden Ring is Europe's biggest new games IP since The Division in 2016, and the biggest game launch since Call of Duty: Vanguard in November last year, according to the latest GSD market report.
>The FromSoftware game sold best on PC, representing 44% of total sales. Then it's PS5 with 27%, then Xbox (16%) and finally PS4 (13%).

Surely...
The problem isn't that they're keeping it to a single platform, it's that they've abandoned their core audience.
Only redeemable so far is the combat. Even the OST is mediocre for a mainline. Setting and plot, generic and play it too safe. Locales are bland as hell and not memorable. I will not remember this game in the long run, it lacks too much identity for a mainline FF game. Even XIII had that. Somehow I think FFVII part 2 will BTFO of this game.
Square Enix have set up a sibling type scenario where the project leads are all pandering to the management to get the next big project, I would bet the fury from Nomura and Kitase when Yoship was given the next single player ff game was insane.
I bet they are laughing their asses off at this failure right now.
You know Yoshida talked about sales, he informed higher ups that they are pushing for a "long tail" in terms of sales. He believes the FF brand is so damaged it's gonna take awhile to get people to buy in again.
>You know Yoshida talked about sales, he informed higher ups that they are pushing for a "long tail" in terms of sales. He believes the FF brand is so damaged it's gonna take awhile to get people to buy in again.
he sure isn't helping with his garbage
The general consensus is that the game is amazing. A few clout chasing outliers and Ganker are not a judgement of the game.
>The general consensus is that the game is amazing
Okay, that's not true, there are a lot of people who are unhappy with the game, the last time I looked at Metacritic it was around 6.7. This isn't a case where Ganker is trying to force the Shazam meme, the game is very divisive
>the last time I looked at Metacritic it was around 6.7.
why the frick would you ever look there when every game these days gets review bombed
>why the frick would you ever look there when every game these days gets review bombed
Because it goes both ways moron, people review bombed in both directions you have shills, and fanboys go to these sites and give the game 10/10 ESPECIALLY because they are so emotionally involved/get paid. A score never tanks because of review bombing in 100% of the cases the game sucks so it is reflective of it's user score
>unironically using the sea of 0's from brand new accounts with a single review as evidence
Grim.
>literally unironically copying on Ganker
oh my
He actively went out of his way to piss off the Japanese home market.
>JP voice acting done 2nd
>"jp market does not matter anymore, we need to concentrate on the western market"
>"JRPG isn't a term we like
>make an obvious western theme game
>gay shit
Sometimes yoshida seems to want to piss off old fans. He also said that turnbased doesn't work with modern graphics (this is 20+ years old argument) and that xvi was made for people who aren't interested in FF and grew up with GTA and FPS.
Yes, because he is attempting to take over Final Fantasy as a whole. He wants to redefine it to solidify his position at the company. Eliminating the old guard.
Simple politics.
>Hates western audiences and only minimal interactions with them if at all
>doesn't speak english cuz frick gaijins
>all his games are so japanese that they are basically anime-tier plots
>makes the gayest games imaginable but still no homos allowed
Kneel in front of a GOD
>doesn't speak english cuz frick gaijins
His games are full of engrish shit though
>culturally appropriates gaijins so when they play his games keywords in them are normal english words so the story gets even more confusing
what a madlad
>nomura will save final fantasy bros
>strangers of paradise still hasn't broken a million sales
the ever vocal minority nomuratard
Nomura only wrote the premise of SoP, he did nothing else for that game.
Love how you Nomuragays always have an excuse for him ready to go.
I like to shit on people only for things they've done. I don't shit on yoshida for ffxv and forspoken and on Nomura for xvi.
>whenever nomura is involved in a bad game he wasn't actually involved
curious how that always seems to happen
Because it was made by team Ninja, they are literally credited for SoP
>he thinks fricking Nomura and his Osaka team made this turd
Lmao this was made by team Ninja, Nomuras name got slapped on to give it more prestige, he has minimal involvement with this garbage
He will take Full Control soon.
XVI's massive failure guarantees it.
I'm always kneeling to Nomura. If Square really wants to make real time FF they should keep improving on FFVIIR battle system.
Isn't it done second because of less lip movement so the lip sync isn't as important?
The problem isn't that they did it this way, the problem is he saw fit to tell the world he did it this way.
>>gay shit
not really a problem for Japan if they don't make it too obvious
I agree with the rest, I don't know why you would just spit on a key part of your audience like that
Pic related, gay make out scene in game with Bahamut's summoner.
Mario RPG was trash due to trying to do 3d jumps with a d-pad and no depth perception.
I still have no idea why they never made a Zelda or Metroid RPG.
where is the first celebratory sales tweet for 16?
Yoshida is famous for two things, turning ffxiv into a wow clone with the remake and making a new single player ff game based on game of thrones. I'm not just saying this either, he has admitted to getting his developers to play wow for arr and watch got before working on 16.
How creatively bankrupt can you even be.
I would be amazed if JP gamers bought this in high numbers, Yoshida spat in their faces.
ff14 isn't that popular in Japan either, 14 is mainly a north American success story. He is like an idol there but disliked in his home nation.
I think this is why he pandered so hard to the US with 16.
You're full of shit.
FF14 is very popular in Japan, the Fan Fests there sell out in minutes and the next one is going to be in the fricking Tokyo Dome.
Most of the JP servers are empty, it's seen as very western over there.
Proof?
then why did he do all this
I don't really think that's true. XIV gets live action dramas and movies based it on it, you know?
>barry is now just posting screencaps of tweets from literal who unverified twatter users
lmao it’s time for the rope barry, aren’t you ready to rest?
APOLOGIZE
It's selling PS5's.
Sony won
I'm currently watching my friend play it through discord. Game looks okay.

Japan HATES it
Kek
MMO devs = MMO quality
Simple as
Most FF games are a miss on the final boss. Ultima is still not as bad as Necron or Yu Yevon
Yu Yevon isn't the final boss, Jecht is. Yu Yevon is an unlosable fight that gives you infinite auto-life.
>its not the final boss cause I say so
I mean it's a fight you can't lose, do you consider that a boss? I don't. You're free to disagree.
>[Sad news] Japan review of "FF16" is terrible: "The most interesting part of clearing the game was... the demo version."
spitting facts
okay I think XVI is a trash fire, but linking this shit is literally the equivalent of linking random threads from Ganker
To be fair, these matome sites quote the same comments from a single source --- 5ch's Game Hardware industry board (a.k.a. Sony Anti-Board), and while its certainly not like FF16's reputation in Japan has been great (as far as I observed), These sites are amplifying these anti's voices to an excessive degree and deform how Japanese gamers truly think of the game . To see what Japanese gamers actually think of FF16, just look at the Amazon reviews a few months after its release. if it proceeds 4.0 then the game is good enough.
>[Sad news] Japan review of "FF16" is terrible: "The most interesting part of clearing the game was... the demo version.
fricking savage holy shit
>japs have shit taste in video games
Gee say it ain't so.
You think I give a frick about homosexuals that play gacha games all day? No. Why do you think some random literal NPCs in Japan have got any value in their word at all? Fricking stupid c**t.
You do realize that you are playing a Japanese game made by Japanese people and made in Japan by a Japanese company right?, why are you such an unironic weeabo, I really hate weeabo but I hate unironic weeaboo even more. Holy shit.
*ironic
>You can’t dislike some Japanese people for having shit taste otherwise you’re an ironic weaboo
What the frick are you even on about, you dumb Black person?
>This Black thinks he's better than rice Black folk (nips)
>even though he's just a ironic weeabo who plays weeabo games but keeps complaining about 'em
>This Black thinks he knows better than the nips
kek
keklmao even
>Frogposting-Black person thinks it has any opinion or worth at all
Lmao
This game comes across as being directly made to pander to upper middle class Californians, which is an odd decision given it has no cash shop to milk them.
Making a game aimed at rich white people is never a good idea.
It's embarrassing how many professional reviewers scored this game as a 100, even if you like the game it's not a 100/100 game.
>game is reviewbombed not even a day after being out
sounds like metacritic alright
You don't get to complain about that when there are so many 100 scores.
>Muh review bombing
People throwing 10s are just as bad. Remove all 0s and 10s and you will get a reasonable indication of how much the game is liked.
>33 ratings
homie XVI sits at 1408 reviews I don't think the narrative that the game gets review bombed by chuddies really works at this point
Better example, PS5 version also sits under 8.
>pc performance reviews
Yeah fair here you go
pretty sure that's fake anon I don't remember Re4 ever dipping down 7,8
The reactions here made it seem that the user score would get bombed to 5.
>muh ashley
>cut content
>ada voice
Again I was in these threads, I never saw the game dip lower than 7,8
And according to your image, it was 6.8 around 2343 ratings but right now it's at a score of 8 with 3000 ratings which means it got around 400 reviews that all were incredibly positive, which makes this sound even more unlikely
feel free to explore
homie you keep lying how the frick was this game 6.8 at over 2000 reviews but is now at a score of 8? You're literally a shill kek
>lying
>literally gave you a link to waybackmachine to check shit
Black person you got proof right in front of you
that's how metacritic works since TLOU2 fiasco
They purge reviews since 2020 when they deem it has been unjustly bombed.
Ill be interested to see what sales are like for both after a year, I think SMRPG will obviously do far better than the original does but its not a surprise when the Switch does so well. I think 16 tops at 5-10m lifetime like 7R did and SMRPG will be somewhere on the lower end of 5-7m lifetime.
Re4 got some 0 scores because of cut-content and cash shop crap, however it's much higher than your image shows.
Ff16 has no cash shop, or serious performance issues. It has no reason to be getting rated low other than what it is.
>literally post the PC version that got negative ratings because of the performance issues
You're not really helping your case by proving that the ratings on Meta are pretty legit
>MMORPG.com review
100/100
You know the guy that did this was just a ff14 fanboy fellating his idol.
There's still no reason to own a ps5 yet
There's no reason to buy any console today, all games come to PC sooner or later. Nintendo is the only one with esclusives but their console is garbage. It's better to buy their games and emulating them.
I can believe it, but I also don't see anything confirming it other than some dipshit's tweet.
>exclusive to a $600 console
>a $600 console notorious for not being available anywhere because dipshits keep buying and reselling them for like $1200
>not only is the console $600, but it has no games other than FF16
>not only that, but FF16 won't stay exclusive to it forever
it's just not a good deal for consumers no matter which way you cut it.
>exclusive to a $600 console
PS5 is $500 not $600 unless you're exposing yourself using Australian prices
>a $600 console notorious for not being available anywhere because dipshits keep buying and reselling them for like $1200
It's available everywhere, stock and scalping issue was resolved at the start of the year. That's why 50 million will be sold by the end of the year
>not only that, but FF16 won't stay exclusive to it forever
No but FFVII: Rebirth will be on PS5 before XVI is on PC
i'm including taxes you fricking Black person you'd know this if you had ever paid them
US sales tax isn't going to be $100 Barry. The console also retails in UK and Europe for that price with VAT included. PS5 is outpacing PS4 and PS3 in Japan now and will outpace them worldwide by December. Your failed console argument doesn't hold because it'll be the second most successful console Sony have had
I think the game is doing so poorly they will fall back on the shipped meme, where they ship millions of codes out to digital sellers that will be quietly bought back in a 6 months.
If the game sells poorly and they fall back on long term sales, they will put a lot of effort into content updates and other platform releases.
All of this will decimate the manpower and budget of ff14, which is even more worrying.
I'm sorry but I see no way this game will do well long term, why would it? There is no good word of mouth, there is no open world, there is nothing to the game other than the brand.
There is no viral nature to the game at all, it's dead and forgotten in days.
Reminder that they took the PS5 exclusive deal for money, which is never a good sign. why would you take a payout from sony unless you know it's not going to be a popular game.
If a game is made from the start to be a sony exclusive that's one thing, but taking a deal later is a sign of failure.
This game is one of the most pretensions piles of shit I've ever seen, it's no wonder twitter likes it.
>pretentious
Son(ogames)y and Micro(dick)soft really just don't exist anymore, do they? Literally only cod dudebros give a frick anymore.
I've said this before. Most people who actually care about video games have moved on to the PC.
>CoD dudebros
Not even that so much. It's the sportsgays (Madden, FIFA, 2K basketball) and Fortnite/rocket league kids that are mostly there. Also GTA, but in general, it really is a normie box by and large.
I've been PC x Nintendo for a few years now and really have no need or desire for anything else.
>I bet its gonna crush haha
>What do you guys think haha
Imagine how much FF16 would sell if it was an old fashioned FF like 7-10 on switch
It'd cost less to develop as well
Yeah but sony ceos are moronic. At tis point they could even market this as selling point: THE RETURN OF CLASSIC FINAL FANTASY IN A NEW ADVENTURE
People would eat this up and nostalgiacum in their pants, including me. But that is not the type of game Sony wants who obviously is pushing the big budget titles at Square in that direction and then buy exclusive rights.
>people really love navigating through excel sheets!
You gays are delusional.
Those games aren't loved because of the gameplay at all.
Really wish braintards like you weren't allowed to post online. Just go play fifa and gta5 on your ps4 with the other dudebros.
Did he make you upset because he's right? Nobody wants turn based RPGs anymore. Not when you can actually just do the actions now in instead of combing through commands and shit through menus.
>muh dudebros
Are you stuck being 15?
>you don't like it because you're dumb
Turnbased JRPGs are braindead.
They're not very engaging mechanically either.
It's for people who suck at games but want to play a videogame and enjoy things like the story
>redditspacing
>cant read and demands every game be a shallow action mashy in open world
Why are you here? Go to your normalgay hangout and be happy.
I like FFXVI but, the whole turnbased doesn't sell is a load of baloney and has always been so.
I believe this aversion for turnbased gameplay is a leftover from the days Japanese developers had no way to directly communicate with their North American and European fanbase. That line of communication was exclusive to video game critics, who kept selling what they wanted these games to be not what the overseasfans wanted.
You see a similar angle with classic RE gameplay oh no nobody wants to play game like that anymore it's "dated" hahah, yet people keep asking for it why is that?
The funny thing is that this whole "turnbased is dead and ancient, action is the future!" thing has beeen reoccuring narrative some people try to push every gen since at least 4th. Action combat is not somenew marvel of boundary breaking innovation, at this point is it just as ancient as turnbased.
SE and companies like them actually hire game journos to give them advice on how to make games and to do mock reviews of their games in development, that's why they expected Forspoken to review well, game journos told them people wanted snarky sheboons
>Manchildren are still buying drivel like Mario and Zelda
Literally the epitome of consume and just get excited for the next product because they’ve been the same for years.
Will some kind of denuvo end up hardbaked into next gen consoles
thats already a thing, they don't need to pay for denuvo
consolecucks can't even take screenshots of DRM locked scenes
>God of War Ragnarök is off to a flying start, having sold 5.1m copies in its first week
How can a literal mmorpg site and a site called pocket-lint giving the game a 100 score be allowed? This game should be a 80-85 max, but two nothing reviews that are obviously biased pushed the average up.
Also anyone giving a 0 or 10 should be banned from reviewing anything.
It is what it is. If you ban 0 and 10 it just becomes 1 and 9. Etc.
>Also anyone giving a 0 or 10 should be banned from reviewing anything.
Exactly but somehow fanboys only get upset at 0 negative ratings. It's also why steam reviews are so dogshit because they literally force everyone into picking either 10/100 GOTYAY thumbsup or 0/10 BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY KILLED MY WIFE FRICKED MY DOG.
Why is the final boss music so boring and forgettable. Even all the bad final bosses like Necron and Ultimecia at least had banging tracks. This is on the same level as FF12s final boss track, not bad but just nothing you want to download to your phone.
Why is the only great memorable music only the trailer stuff? I'm starting to think Soken really is only good in FF14 because he has Uematsus expansion themes to fall back on as leitmotifs. His standalone work here is not impressive at all.
soken is pretty mid most of the time tbh. many players attribute stuff to him that he didn't even do in 14, because people believe he does everything related to audio in that game
The music really isnt that good by FF standards Im really disappointed. I actually thought it would be a banger because I had a good impression of Soken but there are literally only 5-6 genuinely good tracks in this 200 track soundtrack?
Apart from the Typhon music (which is generally where the game peaks in my opinion its all down from there) there isnt even anything that goes out of the orchestral standard music
Its so fricking disappointing and yet everyone sings the OSTs praises
its certainly bombastic and can feel good in the moment, but as you said, its not the type of music you listen to on the side like i do with other OSTs often
I think he excels when they let him be chunni which it seems they didn't for this one other than for the last titan fight.
get woke go broke
You can check with waybackmachine anon

When people go out of their way to shit on a game there is almost always a reason, either performance anger or cash shop or cut-content.
ff16 has none of these excuses.
>almost always a reason
Where do you think you are?
scores don't matter, only sales
The way you know a game is really popular is you get lots of viral shit appearing on social media and youtube, and there is pretty much nothing with this game.
It was a mistake for a third party, and a single player game for that matter, to sign an exclusive contract with Sony.
Most well-known streamers are PC gamers, but they don't stream it at all
In this day and age, it is almost suicidal to limit opportunities of its exposure
I think Yoshida won't take failure well, and he will double down trying to make ff16 recover. He will do this by taking more and more resources away from ff14.
Which could end up being the double whammy that gets him fired.
>The man who saved the entire company will get fired because of a few failures
have a nice day. And before you say Sakaguchi Spirits Within was much worse
>The man who saved the entire company
You mean gacha saved the company.
