PS2 was cheaper for DVD playback and cheaper in general so that's a plus for Sony. The real L is the GameCube which only had some of the worst line up of nintendy games so far. XBox has the ever support for online, easiest hardware to develop for in the generation and best hardware. Only reason PS2 one was being cheaper and having a larger install base of games for a wider audience. Dreamcast is also fantastic but it only really lasted for 2 years and only really did well with Japanese games.

It was definitely the most powerful console of that generation. I could also say that it had good exclusives that the other consoles didn't have, but that would be true of all the consoles of that generation and the previous generations.
Right now is a really good time to collect original Xbox games, they don't have the same demand as Gamecube stuff so you can get lots of good games for cheap.

After playing a bunch of games on xemu and comparing them to the same games on pcsx2 it's obvious the xbox was miles ahead of the ps2, let alone the gamecube

My bias against it was mostly correct, although it does have more going for it than I originally thought.
I've yet to find a game where the performance improvement was enough to justify not having access to the PS2's library.

Hardwire wise yes, but the 6th gen is defined by its exclusives. Xbox has some exclusives sure but its nothing compared to PS2 or the cube.
Kind of irrelevant since the best game of the sixth generation was multiplatform
between its exclusives and its superior versions of some multiplats, it's certainly worth owning, but the PS2 had a better library.
