I don't really get this because from the demo, I get the same flow that I got when playing FF7R which I heard no one complaining "wasn't final fantasy". Strictly story wise, it seems very much like FF12 which I also don't hear the "not final fantasy" argument for.

FF as a series has constantly been changing. This is it's strength. But it's also its greatest weakness, as each game is more different than the last. And so if someone likes a game, say FF4 or 7 or 10, then they'll likely be less interested in the games that don't have a similar design. Either visual or gameplay.

That actually remains to be seen. FF15 sold far more than anyone expected. But they also cancelled the DLC and sequels they had planned. Because fans quickly gave up on it and the new players who got into it didn't want more. This game could suffer the same fate. Especially in Japan, since it's moving away from what a lot of the Japanese fanbase likes. Maybe the western fans will make up the difference. But this also could hurt the FF brand name in the long run.

But it also means that there's no real reason to try and imitate GoT without focusing on that. But maybe none of this will matter. Claire games have obvious problems everybody knows about: lack of exploration, extreme linearity with gameplay loop being reduced to "go forward/fight/watch cutscene" pattern, obvious pacing problems, especially in the second half of the game (see Fifth Ark dungeon). Then script writing is poor, events planners did many debatable things in some key scenes, music direction isn't consistently good, overall literary presentation lacks polish. Everybody knows it, and I don't understand why you, Claire deniers, still chimping out about it as if it's some kind of revelation.
The thing you don't see is that her games have ambition, deep lore, nice atmosphere, optimistic tone, the most refined art direction in series, best girls, good thematic core and scenario ideas. With proper, at least fricking working engine, sane production management and enough development resources FFXIII Remake and its sequels have infinite potential. You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

Not since the PS2 have had consoles with reliable FPS near the 60's and that's just the way it is. Why is nobody in the media talking about how dark everything is in terms of visibility? I watched like 20 minutes of the demo footage on YouTube and I could barely see what was happening.
Granted, it was in a dark dungeon-like area, but I've never had problems with visibility in other dark dungeon areas in other videogames. Here I could barely see anything.
The combat system being like DMC5? Maybe it is like DMC5, which would be great. But I sure as hell couldn't see what the player-character was doing like 70% of the time. I know that he was attacking and juggling, but the animations of the attacks and juggles? Can barely see most if it.
Even in the darker areas of DMC5 I could see what was happening, like in those Qlipoth tree areas (or whatever the frick they're called).

I honestly think they used GoT more as an example for how english speaking people write dialogue and tone more than cribbing story points. It's vastly improved over previous iterations and writing tone outside of your own language can be a challenge. Square's localization in the last 10 years has been much better though.
The script influences are obvious, but there are clearly story and character elements that were just lifted wholesale from GoT/ASOIAF. The demo story setup for example almost borders on plagiarism.
