bulbsaur is cheap, you have advantage on gym 1, advantage on gym 2, reistance on gym 3, ect, and gym 8 is hard but you have a lot of time to have a watermon
bulbsaur is cheap, you have advantage on gym 1, advantage on gym 2, reistance on gym 3, ect, and gym 8 is hard but you have a lot of time to have a watermon
same moronic victim complex argument charmandergays always use >my pokemon is useless against most of this game >uh that means yours is cheap because it's actually useful
wow...i spammed ember against brock and won then used pikachu against misty...definitely "hard mode"
the real problem with charmander is that charizard can't learn fricking fly in red/blue (can in yellow) for no fricking reason, making you require another flying mon on your team
>>my pokemon is useless against most of this game >>uh that means yours is cheap because it's actually useful
chill out autist. I'm just saying it takes a bit more work to progress at first if you go with charmander. spamming ember still takes longer than using razor leaf or vine whip or whatever
it's cheap because it has a type effectiveness for 90% of the fricking game you giga moron

then any grass pokemon in gen 1 is cheap tard and you can catch a grass pokemon regardless of what starter you choose
you have access to grass types after only 1 gym, so the game is "hard mode" according to you for only that first gym, which isn't a hard gym in the first place regardless of which mon you pick
only way it's "hard mode" with charmander is if you use 1 pokemon the whole game like a 5-year-old
>>my pokemon is useless against most of this game >>uh that means yours is cheap because it's actually useful
chill out autist. I'm just saying it takes a bit more work to progress at first if you go with charmander. spamming ember still takes longer than using razor leaf or vine whip or whatever
This is legitimately the way the game is made, with Charmander being the "hard mode"
Professor Oak's dialogue during the selection describes Bulbasaur as "easy to raise" and Charmander as "requiring patience". Squirtle is "worth raising", which is pretty nondescript, basically denoting it as the "normal" one

This is the intended logic but the game doesn't actually work that way. For someone who knows what theyre doing charmander is easier and better.

>"easy to raise"
In bulbasaur's case, it refers to evolving super early.

>In bulbasaur's case, it refers to evolving super early
They all evolve at 16 and 32, moron. The only Pokemon that "evolve super early" are bugs.
Anonymous
Venusaur is the only one you get at 32, Charizard and Blastoise are 36
this is wrong, and the problem is you're using logic but not understanding how the game actually works. bulbasaur is terrible because it's a poor offensive threat vs all the early bug types and random birds, so its tough to grind it up quickly. all it gets is leach seed. charmander is much easier to use because its move is better and it's better vs all the random trash. All you need is a nidoran + charmander and youre good to go.
for starters >critical strikes rate based on speed
razor leaf will rape everything >hyperbeam doesn't require a turn to recharge if it knocks out the opponent's pokemon >pokemon can't self-thaw out of frozen state >fire spin is fricking busted
it's shit jim
charmander is actually baby mode because spamming ember against bug catchers and brock literally will carry you through to mt moon where you can catch other decent pokemon
meanwhile bulbasaur has to use tackle on all the bug type mons and take more damage as a result, but at least breezes through brock
once you hit mt moon it's smooth sailing regardless of who you picked because you have access to other useful pokemon like geodude, paras, clefairy, and oddish/bellsprout on route 24/25
Literally the worst possible choice. Bulbasaur all the way
In terms of what? moron. Grass/Poison is such ass typing for starters (LMAO) and beyond that the actual Pokemon you use don't even fricking matter in Gen 1. None of them have good learnsets, it's literally just comes down to sticking a TM onto the Pokemon you like for a little coverage and a STAB move.
Yeah he screwed up, but if you play it in Super Game Boy mode it has full color just like Yellow. Gold and Silver also work that way, they really look like an extension of gen 1 then.
Yellow had proper color support.
RB had red/blue/red with green/another blue/violet and I think one more?
>RB only had red/green red/blue
not if you play in SGB mode, then it has a wider array of palettes per-area, color palettes for each pokemon in battle, etc. just like yellow
if you play on original hardware GBC you won't get SGB mode though...but it doesn't matter if you're emulating since any respectable emulator loads SGB mode for those that support it
some enhanced romhacks like shinpokered or pureRGB support SGB mode on GBC hardware like yellow did.
If you get bored try this version, the ai literally reads your inputs, cheats and has far better skills and stat spreads than you can ever achieve without spending 10 hours before each gym battle setting up the perfect counter picks.
thats boring in the opposite direction though, I still want to breeze through it, I just want to have to think a little bit. I like playing this and emerald kaizo with hardcore off and minimal grinding on
Anon this one expects you to not only understand the game gamefreak designed andthe mechanics that are there and are game defining but never explained to you, but also have a fundamental understanding of the hihg level play developed by the comunity and be able to teambuild competentr stuff while knowing beforehand what's a shitmon, what's decent and what's good, and the game still pulls out shit like throwing trainers with both Mega Evo's and shit like primal reversion.
If anything a regular hackrom like Glazed or Clover are way more interesting for a new player, because they only ask you for bullshit after they gave you the entire main game to test the waters.
>What am I in for?
"The one I grew up with was good, all the others were bad", when in reality Game Freak has been shitty devs that release low effort extremely buggy games since day 1. Nothing changed. Playing through the series from the start in order and having no nostalgia for it will let you see exactly what I mean for yourself.
t. brainlet zoomer who let some youtuber tell him gen 1's glitches are horrible
Anyone who played RBY can tell you the glitches are very rare, do not actually impact gamplay, and are a funny little thing at worst.
>Anyone who played RBY can tell you the glitches are very rare, do not actually impact gamplay, and are a funny little thing at worst.
I can say this about literally any pokemon game. Yes even scarlet and violet.
I grew up with yellow and even I know that in terms of pace, content, music, designs, soul, etc, HGSS and BW2 completely and absolutely mog the gameboy games. I can't pick up RBY again because the pre-Brock level grind is awful.
>and BW2 >what if we copypaste everything from the original >add minimal new content and locations (despite the only other sequel adding a fricking whole region) >and make it somehow WORSE than BW because the only thing we address is the unovan pokemon only
You didn't play the game.
BW2 is a tome on how you should make a sequel. I bet you also whined when GTA Liberty City Stories took place in "a copy pasted map"
literally did not play the games. BW2 was very much the last time gamefreak actually gave a shit. XY is when they realized they can do the absolute bare minimum to make billions.
>pre-Brock level grind
what the frick are you talking about anon?
there's no reason to grind before Brock, all there are are bug trainers
genuinely baffled by this post
you're an idiot
Yellow is piss easy >capture Caterpee, grind until Butterfree, clean Brock with confusion >beat Misty with Pikachu >go to Vermilion city's cave, get a Dugtrio, beat up Lt. Surge
you now have a pokemon team you can level up to beat anything
Series ended at gen 4.
I still wonder to this day why the frick ghost was made a fricking physical type.
And yet you won't use this defense for Sword and Shield or Scarlet and Violet because you happen to not like them.
The only thing I liked from Swole Shit was pic related. Too bad the morons at gf wasted a perfect opportunity to add a jousting minigame or something and waited until the next gen.
Don't pick Charmander just because people tell you to. Pick whatever starter you want and catch and use whichever Pokemon you want. Some Pokemon are "better" than others but really any Pokemon are viable as the game series was made for children. You could beat the game with a single Pokemon or a full party of Pokes if you choose to. Some nerds will probably tell you that the game is buggy and to skip it but frick them. The early games are a little bit dated with the series getting better improvements as they come out but the early games are still fun. I hope you truly enjoy it.
Games that take two steps forward and one step back with every new releases until after the DS era where it shifts into one step forward and two steps back mode.
>until after the DS >RS >two steps forward and one step back
No, those games are on par with post ds games in how much they fricked everything up coming from crystal.
What did they frick up aside from day/night cycle?
DS games are the downfall because that's when they got lazy with coding and started adding loading zones between every overworld area
A bad game and the start of a really shitty series with way more bad games than good games. This game is barely held together by a loose piece of tape and it shows.
>and it shows.
It really doesn't, your average playthrough will have a really small amount of bugs you will actually notice.
Stuff like >but toxic and sleep! >but focus energy!
isn't stuff you will see in game.
The most annoying one, because it affects the type chart, is the ghost type bug and because its only real move is lick, there's zero issues there.
>when things started getting good. >they get terrible, intrusive plots >the graphics look like garbage compared to other jrpgs in the system >they slash pokemon and features as they see fit between games >increasingly linear, BW is just a fricking hexagon you can't deviate from
Yeah, better.
>he thinks the graphics are good in gen 1 and 2 >he thinks anyone cares about the plot >he thinks gen 1 and 2 weren't anything but straight lines connected to each other
Yeah, those games were so much better
>I love the shit games and stopped playing when things started getting good.
THI. This so so much. Gen 3 is when I was finally able to start fappan to the girl characters.I love anime boobies. BONGER BOINGEES
Just think, about 5 years ago Gen 4 and Gen 5 kids stopped trying to push their nostalgia on others about DS games, yet single parent loser GBA kids refuse to move on and still try to peddle their trash without getting a single supportive (You). 10 years from now, there will still be people, well, "people" pretending Gen 3 wasn't the lowest point of the series.
You missed out. It's too late to get into the series and appreciate the earlier games. Half the fun of pokemon was having people to talk about it and battle/trade with during each game's generation.
Go on the back of one of the buildings in Celadon City to get a free Eevee, then evolve it into Jolteon and teach it Thunderbolt. Best Electric-type there.
had fond memories of playing Silver when it came out. replayed it recently and was annoyed to find some cool gen 2 pokemon are only available after poke league.
Arguing about how starters effect the difficulty is dumb and pointless. It's just a single Pokemon and you aren't forced to use them. You get to have 6 Pokemon with you at a time it's not like you're literally just using only your starter the whole game. Obviously it's nice to use Pokemon that are strong against the gym leaders Pokemon but you do not have to really utilize the type weakness system to beat the game. I beat Pokemon Blue at 9 years simply using Pokemon that I liked and not really caring about the weakness systems. Frick off with your nothing arguments.
Gen 1 and 2 are the best in the series, everything else from there starts becoming gimmicky (vitamins and shit in ruby and sapphire), also the Pokémon start becoming more outlandish
there's a lot of bad bugs or unbalanced things in this game such as Psychic types being immune to Ghost type damage instead of being weak to it and receiving double damage, Poison type damage and Bug type damage no longer dealing double damage to each other, and Fire type gets damage resistance against Ice type damage.
Also, the first generation is one of the few with multiple pure-types that are actually good. The pure-dragon type Dratini-Dragonite evolution line and pure-psychic Abra-Alakazam evolution line are some of the best in the entire series.
>Poison type damage and Bug type damage no longer dealing double damage to each other, and Fire type gets damage resistance against Ice type damage.
That's just the old type chart before it got revamped.
i love gen 2 but the gen 2 designs have a couple too many "why doesn't this thing evolve" pokemon like aipom, yanma, misdreavus, qwilfish, murkrow, girafarig, shuckle, and stantler
no they just need to evolve into something that looks like a final evo and has half-decent stats, and not be literally a first stage evo whos second stage was cut content
Lucky egg and amulet coin are single use, but you don't need them for the main game, you get a lot of money to purchase as many potions pokeballs and revives as you want, is 5 regions, by the end of playing them you will have over 1M and there is nothing in the main games that requires level 100, in fact the only thing that needs it is the combat against red but that shit is absolute postgame as in full dex completion postgame and just another way to get money.
okay you dense motherfricker, listen up
i don't give a shit about lucky eggs and amulet coins, when i say consumable, one-use held items i'm talking about focus sashes, air balloons, herbs, berries, gems, etc
are they still consumable, single-use, permanently-dissapear-from-bag-once-used? yes or no

I don't use them lmao, so I don't know, dunno if they are consumed on PvP, but they are dirt cheap tho around 1k, so you might also get them from a wild pokemon.
Most items are grindable in one way or another, even shit like leftovers and life orbs.
In retrospect this is obviously where the design cancer started creeping in and requiring that everything be round and curvy rather than Sugimori’s more naturalistic designs.
Gen 2 is the worst at everything but the female MC design.
Shitty dex that GF is still fixing up to today, stupid distribution that locks most of the decent jhoto mons behind the league, boring ass region that's just more japan, moronic level curve where getting to the league in the 30s is easy, What's there of Kanto is just a boss rush because the wild mons are low leveled as frick, even less story than gen 1, Lance is a dragon champion with the same pokemon three times, etc, etc.
Unova is the objective peak of the franchise in every field: Artstyle, Narrative, Gameplay, Writing, a competent Dex with way less 1 stage shitmons and no babies for 1st stages like Pikachu or Jiggly.
>decent jhoto mons behind the league
Murkrow and Magcargo are good?
It's always hyperbole when people bring up the post game "exclusive" Pokemon for gen two. It'd be like me complaining that the single best non-Legendary Pokemon introduced in Gen 3, Metagross, is post-game exclusive and then claiming that your entire available roster during the main game sucks because of that
Funny fire dog
Also Magcargo is genuinenly a cool design hurt by Gamefreak weird fetish of making a shitmon stat wise and for some odd reason making it a post game catch.
Don't be moronic and play the main games they suck, play PokeMMO instead it has the first 5 gens with improved difficulty, easy trade evolutions, PvP and you can use your pokemon for any region as long as they are below your current level cap.
Isn't there like a 10 base stat difference between pre evos and trade evos in gen 1? You're genuinenly not missing a lot, even less in Gen 1 with the Gengar line being the monolith of Gamefreak Game Design moronation (The only Ghost type line in the game uses Special, but Ghost attacks are bassed on the Attack stat) and Psychin being busted enough for Kadabra alone to sweep thru shit.
>grind
You don't need to grind for shit, it is literally just the base games but with a slight difficulty improvements, if you get bodied by something you are just bad.
>not being able to use Gengar and Alakazam.
what is pkhex
>cheating in pokemon
lol, lmao, make them shiny and give them perfect IVs, favorable nature and items while you are at it, homosexual.
Don't play any base game except for Emerald, maybe Fire Red/Leaf Green, and Black2/White2. Play romhacks
For Poke Crystal >Fool's Gold >Crystal Kaizo (very hard, you have been warned) >Polished Crystal >Perfect Crystal >Crystal Legacy >Prism (original romhack, new regions, up to gen 3 mons)
Fire Red >Fire Red Omega >Rocket Edition >Clover (/vp/'s very own hack, tons of QoL features like way faster/convenient EV training in postgame, 386 original fakemons, balanced roster of 70% usable mons, tons of Ganker references/memes, great music, okay story) >Gaia (original region) >Glazed >Radical Red (very hard, up to gen 6/7? mons)
>Emerald
Emerald Elite Redux
Theta Emerald
Emerald 386 (vanilla hack, all 386 mons catchable, special event islands added back in-game)
Emerald ROWE (open world emerald game with level scaling)
Emerald Kaizo (hardest romhack ever)
Your journey of romhacks is about to begin! Go, [player name] and explore the wide world of pokemon hacks!
>Fool's Gold
devs have a fetish for HM overuse, highly recommend you either cheat or outright stop playing post-kanto

[...] >cheating in pokemon
lol, lmao, make them shiny and give them perfect IVs, favorable nature and items while you are at it, homosexual.
yeah right sure, not falling for that
are consumable held items still single-use? can IVs and natures be modified? can EVs be reset? does the move relearner still require heart scales? etc
Amulet coin and lucky eggs are not required for the base game progression, they are specifically for breeding autism, IV and Nature can be modified and making a perfect or semi perfect pokemon with the nature you want is not really all that hard, EVs are easy to train due to hordes, and you can use berries to lower them if you frick up, heart scales are dirt cheap.
If you want the base experience you don't need any of that tho, you only want to get into IV/EV/natured good moveset mons if you want to play ranked PvP, in which case just go play showdown or something.
you did not answer about held items, fair enough about the rest

>just play Kaizoshit bro
A great way to scare away anyone. If someone is just getting into Pokemon, they won't be able to handle those games, simple as. They require IV/EV autism, how visible stats work, how the moves and setups work, all the type matchups, what each mon gets as they level and evolve, what moves are good, what TMs to use, etc. If you've been playing Pokemon since kindergarten - sure, it's a way to spice things up. But a new player would simply drop this shit after getting assraped in their first gym with no clear counterplay.
Pokemon was a collective experience, it was about bringing your Game Boy to school and trade and battle with your friends, no one cared about IV or EV bullshit, it was only about collecting cool-looking critters and share your experience with everyone else. Ironically enough, the introduction of online destroyed that sense of community, there's no need to meet people to play when you can just ask for strangers on the internet to give you whatever Pokemon you need.
i was thinking about putting crystal in s honestly, or maybe ss. It's my favorite pokemon game but I assumed that was nostalgia, I haven't played it in at least a decade
Pretending gen 5 is good is the mark of a true zoomer sheep. Like we get it, you grew up with these games and don't know better.
>18 seconds apart
not fooling anyone here
I grew up with RBY and GSC, and gen 3 and 5 are the clear peaks gameplay-wise. Infinite TMs, reusable repels, multiple healing items off the same usage for different mons, hidden grottos, shiny charms, tons of cool new mons, TONS of cool new fighting, bug and dark types, gems, weather wars, all absolute FRICKING KINOOOOO
don't bother, it's a bunch of discordgays with a chip on their shoulder, they've been doing this both in here and /vg/ for a some time now

Gen 3 you could make an argument for. Gen 5 absolutely not.
>Infinite TMs, reusable repels, multiple healing items off the same usage for different mons, hidden grottos, shiny charms, tons of cool new mons, TONS of cool new fighting, bug and dark types, gems, weather wars
wow so you think every game past Gen 5 is also good? Or are they conveniently bad because you didn't play them as a toddler?
I hope you're joking about replaying Red several times with some graphics improvements. Drop this challenge after completing Red and play some spinoffs instead. I recommend GBC Pinball since I never got my hands on Pinball Ruby and Saphire. Ranger is good too.
wasn't very funny tbh, but the potential was there. You should have had the homosexual loser npc call the player's garchomp a Black person or something
>motto is "Gotta Catch 'em all!" >can't claim that anymore as newer games with more Pokemom are out there >can't claim that at all as mainline games since Sword/Shield cut down their Pokedex amd leave out some mons
A lie.
Read the second line again. You can't even do that anymore in official games due to the Dex cuts, not even with all the "third version mimicking" DLCs for both SwSh and Scarlet/Violet.
The precedent was set, I don't believe there's gonna be another mainline Pokemon game with all the Mons from now on...
This shit was predatory from the start >what if we release the same game 2 times but with slight differences
Not to mention the third "better" version (is also missing pokemon)
The only thing I can say as a positive about the newer generations is that the concept of a third version finally disappeared because GF finally figured out how to do DLC. Unfortunately, those newer games have become some of the most barebones in the series.
If you want to "get" Pokemon, you should play Gen 5. Either the original BW, or BW2 (better gameplay, but it's a direct sequel, unlike any other game in the series). They're peak Pokemon, no matter how much /vp/ whines about it.
Gens 1 and 2 will feel old and decrepit to you. Even pokegays don't play those games except for meme challenges for nostalgia purposes. The games have aged horribly and only have historical value now, it's not worth spending hours of your time on.
Gen 3 is romhacking central. If you're playing games from that time, just play romhacks that improve them, but don't bother with all the "hardcore" bullshit or complete overhauls, they're all shit designed by no-life autists for no-life autists.
Gen 4 is average, it's not bad, but you're simply better off playing Gen 5. They're too similar to play both.
Gen 6 has great mons and a great region, but they're way too easy, even for Pokemon, and the story is pathetic. They will only leave you wanting an actual game set in that region.
Gen 7 has a surprisingly decent story and some great gameplay ideas, but it feels pretty basic as a whole, and the Hawaiian theme is hit or miss. Worth a try if you wanna bang Lusamine or something.
Gen 8 was designed for compgays (and they love it). The story mode in that game is just really really bad, you'll be dragged through literal straight hallways from gym to gym for no good reason, and while the characters look cool, nothing cool is ever done with them.
Gen 9 is way better than what pokegays would tell you - the open world is actually open and more non-linear than any other game in the series by far, there are a bunch of fun side stories, more QoL than ever, the story is great, the music is top tier, overall it's really fun, but you'll have a hard time going back to older games after this, except for Arceus, which was done in the same style. The visuals are piss-poor and so is the performance, but as long as you emulate, you'll be fine.
>you should play Gen 5
Absolute leddit opinion. That'd be as stupid as playing the Etrian games backwards from 5 >Gen 9 is way better than what pokegays would tell you
Not sure if bait or just moronic.
>Character designs
Some look like shit (mostly NPC trainers), but others are as fun as ever. >zone designs
Totally fine. There's a lot of stuff to collect, and unlike games like BotW or Genshin, the stuff you find is actually fricking useful. >graphics, performance
Just emulate bro. It won't fix the shitty textures that pop up here and there, but the game becomes much more tolerable. >bugs
I did encounter a few, but they were cosmetic, the game never broke or crashed on me. >incomplete dex
Only actual autists care about the natdex. It was practically impossible to complete, then it was removed, now you have a single dex that is actually feasible.
>but others are as fun as ever.
No they're not, they're all horrid because they're designed by diffferent people than before.
Half the characters look like freakish trannies and the very best SV designs are comparable to bottom tier designs from previous titles.

I hated some, I liked others. It's obviously a huge stepdown from SwSh, and I hope they pick up the pace in the next gen, but I can ignore it when the gameplay is so vastly superior to SwSh.
Arceus is a great middle ground, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone just getting into Pokemon.

i agree with you, but >they're designed by diffferent people than before

>Character designs, Pokemon designs, zone designs, graphics, performance, bugs, incomplete dex.
literally every game past gen 2, OP just play first and second generation, the rest is utter shit
>cringe OC fakemons whose only trait is shock value >cringe humor stuck in 2016 that mostly aged like crap
Also, any newbie wouldn't be able to play Clover, it's designed for people familiar with Pokemon.
Bro is just rock paper and scissors, if the enemy is fire use water, simple as >b-but the enemy predicted the water and switched to a grass type
Just switch to your fire type and repeat the process lmao.
Except when your opponent has some dual type with a high-level beam of frick that outspeeds you. I'm sure you can solve it and even have fun doing that, but someone who doesn't even know how speed works in Pokemon would have a miserable time. Clover is just not something you can recommend to beginners, and the devs would tell you so themselves.
>get corooster >ability: you always go first, frick the opponent speed >brave bird >enemy dies due to high damage priority move
gg ez just get a party of 6 coroosters all with gale wing and brave bird
The Randomlocke >Catch first Pokemon in each area >When you defeat a gym, or wipe out, re-roll your team from your caught Pokemon >When entering a new area, must defeat all trainers in one go (can't go back to heal) >Can only buy x5 of the highest Potion at each Mart
Give it a try today!
I hate coming up with own rules to make the game challenging. Having built-in randomizer would at least make the game interesting for future runs but Game Freak would never do any more work than they have to even though I feel like that wouldn't be hard to implement.
What video game franchise would be my ideal alternative to Pokemon?
look for >game without fairies >anti-pokemon game >I hate RPG's >franchise that only has single player games >non-competitive game >game without multiplayer >franchise whose target is totally opposite to that of pokemon.
>>I hate RPG's
Nothing, I think most if not all monster raising games are RPGs, and the ones that are not are the ones where the monsters are not the main focus.
look for my pokemon died and has been dead since 2013
and I want a video game without any fairies
without anything competitive
and that it is totally single player
>>I hate RPG's
Nothing, I think most if not all monster raising games are RPGs, and the ones that are not are the ones where the monsters are not the main focus.
>most if not all monster raising games are RPGs
Monster rancher is more like a pet raising sim with combat. Also, Digimon World Championship.
dont fall for gen 5 is good lmao is just kanto but americanized and the gen started everythig wrong with the series the people like that shit weebtrannies becuse it got an anime trailer and they call it "mature"
Initial versions get a bump since they were bought by far more people. Despite that, SM/USUM are the only games (as of the time of this poll. SV weren't out but they likely would've made it) to not be in the top 100.
Man I’m not really a fan of post gen 5 games but I always at least thought the gen 7 games were beta than XY, but I guess I’m in the minority in that regard
Bulbasaur is not great because grass moves have no PP until later generations. It's okay for a gym fight or whatever but most of the game is an endurance run through large areas and many trainers, and 10pp of vine whip and leech seed won't cut it. Squirtle on the other hand is great through the whole game.
>Hold B to double your speed when walking, surfing, and biking
Jesus, why not make it a toggle? Haven't they learned shit from the miserable shitshow that was SM64 DS?
Some gay released a romhack of Crystal and it's completely superior to the original and HGSS. The fact I can get a Houndour before Kanto is already good. The fact that it makes a lot of Gen 2 pokemon stats good is great. I can have a useful Ariados now. Still piss easy tho
The one that ytber made? Yeah, it's still easy, but it's still more 'difficult' than any mainline entry so kind of a moot point.
I'd still rather play any official Johto game and deal with its oddities or just play a hack with updated mechanics than it though.
Pick Charmander
Literally the worst possible choice. Bulbasaur all the way
bulbsaur is cheap, you have advantage on gym 1, advantage on gym 2, reistance on gym 3, ect, and gym 8 is hard but you have a lot of time to have a watermon
Choosing a starter is basically choosing a difficulty level:
Bulbasaur - Easy
Squirrel - Medium
Charmander - Hard
same moronic victim complex argument charmandergays always use
>my pokemon is useless against most of this game
>uh that means yours is cheap because it's actually useful
wow...i spammed ember against brock and won then used pikachu against misty...definitely "hard mode"
the real problem with charmander is that charizard can't learn fricking fly in red/blue (can in yellow) for no fricking reason, making you require another flying mon on your team
>>my pokemon is useless against most of this game
>>uh that means yours is cheap because it's actually useful
chill out autist. I'm just saying it takes a bit more work to progress at first if you go with charmander. spamming ember still takes longer than using razor leaf or vine whip or whatever
it's cheap because it has a type effectiveness for 90% of the fricking game you giga moron
then any grass pokemon in gen 1 is cheap tard and you can catch a grass pokemon regardless of what starter you choose
you have access to grass types after only 1 gym, so the game is "hard mode" according to you for only that first gym, which isn't a hard gym in the first place regardless of which mon you pick
only way it's "hard mode" with charmander is if you use 1 pokemon the whole game like a 5-year-old
This is legitimately the way the game is made, with Charmander being the "hard mode"
Professor Oak's dialogue during the selection describes Bulbasaur as "easy to raise" and Charmander as "requiring patience". Squirtle is "worth raising", which is pretty nondescript, basically denoting it as the "normal" one
Forgot to say it's his dialogue in FRLG
This is the intended logic but the game doesn't actually work that way. For someone who knows what theyre doing charmander is easier and better.
>"easy to raise"
In bulbasaur's case, it refers to evolving super early.
>In bulbasaur's case, it refers to evolving super early
They all evolve at 16 and 32, moron. The only Pokemon that "evolve super early" are bugs.
Venusaur is the only one you get at 32, Charizard and Blastoise are 36
FRLG doesn't matter
this is wrong, and the problem is you're using logic but not understanding how the game actually works. bulbasaur is terrible because it's a poor offensive threat vs all the early bug types and random birds, so its tough to grind it up quickly. all it gets is leach seed. charmander is much easier to use because its move is better and it's better vs all the random trash. All you need is a nidoran + charmander and youre good to go.
Both Nidorans literally do nothing against Brock in R/B.
glitches and a shit battle system. might as well start with FRLG
>I want itty bitty babby mode
literally use growl moron. or capture a caterpie and evolve it into butterfree
>glitches and a shit battle system. might as well start with FRLG
>I've never, EVER played them but I like parroting opinions
for starters
>critical strikes rate based on speed
razor leaf will rape everything
>hyperbeam doesn't require a turn to recharge if it knocks out the opponent's pokemon
>pokemon can't self-thaw out of frozen state
>fire spin is fricking busted
it's shit jim
charmander is actually baby mode because spamming ember against bug catchers and brock literally will carry you through to mt moon where you can catch other decent pokemon
meanwhile bulbasaur has to use tackle on all the bug type mons and take more damage as a result, but at least breezes through brock
once you hit mt moon it's smooth sailing regardless of who you picked because you have access to other useful pokemon like geodude, paras, clefairy, and oddish/bellsprout on route 24/25
Agree.
You play for the experience smogontard.
they're very sim samey. there's no way you will enjoy playing through them all
Who says he will play through it sober?
You would be surprised how much drugs or booze can improve mediocre games.
I think Razor Leaf is bugged and always crit in these games. iirc
no the way crits work in gen 1 (tied to your base speed) just means high crit ratio moves almost always crit unless you have really bad speed stat
Pick Charmander. Bond with him. He will be your best friend for the next 30 years like with most people
a weird color palette apparently
Is that not what gameboy games are supposed to look like?
Best way to play it is on a gbc anyway, it looks great in light violet shades
plus you can put it on poop brown to get through rock tunnel without flash
only yellow does that. RB are red with green red and blue with red red.
>he doesn't know
Yellow had proper color support.
RB had red/blue/red with green/another blue/violet and I think one more?
Yeah he screwed up, but if you play it in Super Game Boy mode it has full color just like Yellow.
Gold and Silver also work that way, they really look like an extension of gen 1 then.
If you're serious OP, look up Shin Pokemon Red. It fixes up everything and adds tons of QoL improvements.
>a weird color palette apparently
>If you're serious OP
>opie actually creating a bidy jaymes thread
a series with many entries, but all of them and I mean all of them have one thing in common. You will have a great adventure.
boredom, unless u consistently come up w challenges 4 urself
healin items make it piss easy
Get comfy.
I like playing this and emerald kaizo with hardcore off and minimal grinding on
Congratulations, you passed the human test.
try crystal legacy then
>recommending Radical Red to a new player
Why would you do this?
Anon this one expects you to not only understand the game gamefreak designed andthe mechanics that are there and are game defining but never explained to you, but also have a fundamental understanding of the hihg level play developed by the comunity and be able to teambuild competentr stuff while knowing beforehand what's a shitmon, what's decent and what's good, and the game still pulls out shit like throwing trainers with both Mega Evo's and shit like primal reversion.
If anything a regular hackrom like Glazed or Clover are way more interesting for a new player, because they only ask you for bullshit after they gave you the entire main game to test the waters.
stop playing before you hit gen 6 and you're good
>What am I in for?
"The one I grew up with was good, all the others were bad", when in reality Game Freak has been shitty devs that release low effort extremely buggy games since day 1. Nothing changed. Playing through the series from the start in order and having no nostalgia for it will let you see exactly what I mean for yourself.
>these beloved games by billions of players are actually...le bad
And yet you won't use this defense for Sword and Shield or Scarlet and Violet because you happen to not like them.
In real time, all you see is pokemon becoming generic but terribad jrpgs that keep taking away features for no reason between gens.
truth
but like the morons say, IT STILL SELLS 20M EACH ENTRY, SO THAT MEANS IT IS GOOD!
t. brainlet zoomer who let some youtuber tell him gen 1's glitches are horrible
I can't pick up RBY again because the pre-Brock level grind is awful.
>and BW2
>what if we copypaste everything from the original
>add minimal new content and locations (despite the only other sequel adding a fricking whole region)
>and make it somehow WORSE than BW because the only thing we address is the unovan pokemon only
You didn't play the game.
BW2 is a tome on how you should make a sequel. I bet you also whined when GTA Liberty City Stories took place in "a copy pasted map"
literally did not play the games. BW2 was very much the last time gamefreak actually gave a shit. XY is when they realized they can do the absolute bare minimum to make billions.
>pre-Brock level grind
what the frick are you talking about anon?
there's no reason to grind before Brock, all there are are bug trainers
genuinely baffled by this post
>grew up with Yellow
He didn't know he could catch a Mankey in the route right of Viridian.
Left
That's FRLG casualization, Mankey isn't available until Cerulean in Red, after Brock in Yellow.
Also, Brock is so shit you can just spam Ember.
literally use nidoran homosexual.
Captcha XDDDT
>literally use nidoran homosexual.
What's that, new species?
you're an idiot
Yellow is piss easy
>capture Caterpee, grind until Butterfree, clean Brock with confusion
>beat Misty with Pikachu
>go to Vermilion city's cave, get a Dugtrio, beat up Lt. Surge
you now have a pokemon team you can level up to beat anything
HoenBlack folk will never be able to live down Gen 1 and 2 being the only games Gamefreak actually wanted to make.
>nothing changed
The rivals stopped being buttholes you loved to hate and just became some polite kid that keeps showing up.
yea I recently played through newer pokemon and was confused where is the rival who tries to rape you at the worst moments
I grew up with gen 3 but gen 5 is objectively the peak gameplay wise.
Series ended at gen 4.
I still wonder to this day why the frick ghost was made a fricking physical type.
The only thing I liked from Swole Shit was pic related. Too bad the morons at gf wasted a perfect opportunity to add a jousting minigame or something and waited until the next gen.
Pick Squirtle
Don't pick Charmander just because people tell you to. Pick whatever starter you want and catch and use whichever Pokemon you want. Some Pokemon are "better" than others but really any Pokemon are viable as the game series was made for children. You could beat the game with a single Pokemon or a full party of Pokes if you choose to. Some nerds will probably tell you that the game is buggy and to skip it but frick them. The early games are a little bit dated with the series getting better improvements as they come out but the early games are still fun. I hope you truly enjoy it.
a baby game play dragon quest instead moron the true pokemon
this
>no Dragonlord->Charizard
You suck. I hope you die of cancer.
have this edit that I made
Much better. Thanks for placating my autism.
no problem
Toriyama animals fricking suck, unless he's designing robots I don't care.
Games that take two steps forward and one step back with every new releases until after the DS era where it shifts into one step forward and two steps back mode.
>until after the DS
>RS
>two steps forward and one step back
No, those games are on par with post ds games in how much they fricked everything up coming from crystal.
Stuff like
>but toxic and sleep!
>but focus energy!
isn't stuff you will see in game.
The most annoying one, because it affects the type chart, is the ghost type bug and because its only real move is lick, there's zero issues there.
I loved Gen 1 and 2 as a kid. I lost interest from gen 3 onwards.
>I love the shit games and stopped playing when things started getting good.
Average Gankeredditor
>when things started getting good.
>they get terrible, intrusive plots
>the graphics look like garbage compared to other jrpgs in the system
>they slash pokemon and features as they see fit between games
>increasingly linear, BW is just a fricking hexagon you can't deviate from
Yeah, better.
>he thinks the graphics are good in gen 1 and 2
>he thinks anyone cares about the plot
>he thinks gen 1 and 2 weren't anything but straight lines connected to each other
Yeah, those games were so much better
>I love the shit games and stopped playing when things started getting good.
THI. This so so much. Gen 3 is when I was finally able to start fappan to the girl characters.I love anime boobies. BONGER BOINGEES
cringe zoomer
Teaching it Twinneedle also makes it the best bug type.
Play the pokemon stadium games with it. It adds so much more content.
had fond memories of playing Silver when it came out. replayed it recently and was annoyed to find some cool gen 2 pokemon are only available after poke league.
Pokemon is unplayable without without using 10x speed
Gen 1 and 2 are the best in the series, everything else from there starts becoming gimmicky (vitamins and shit in ruby and sapphire), also the Pokémon start becoming more outlandish
>everything else from there starts becoming gimmicky (vitamins and shit in ruby and sapphire)
The stat vitamins exist in gen 1, moron.
I picked Charmander as a kid and basically steam rolled the game just using him for the whole game and almost nobody else.
there's a lot of bad bugs or unbalanced things in this game such as Psychic types being immune to Ghost type damage instead of being weak to it and receiving double damage, Poison type damage and Bug type damage no longer dealing double damage to each other, and Fire type gets damage resistance against Ice type damage.
Pokemon peaked in Gen 2.
i love gen 2 but the gen 2 designs have a couple too many "why doesn't this thing evolve" pokemon like aipom, yanma, misdreavus, qwilfish, murkrow, girafarig, shuckle, and stantler
well at least all of those now evolve except for shuckle.
>everything NEEDS to evolve into an Ultra instinct XXXXXXXXXXXVI form
that's not what i said anon take your meds
no they just need to evolve into something that looks like a final evo and has half-decent stats, and not be literally a first stage evo whos second stage was cut content
it still hurts man
okay you dense motherfricker, listen up
i don't give a shit about lucky eggs and amulet coins, when i say consumable, one-use held items i'm talking about focus sashes, air balloons, herbs, berries, gems, etc
are they still consumable, single-use, permanently-dissapear-from-bag-once-used? yes or no
I don't like Pinsir but that design also sucks
fair enough, what about these then?
I like it, Tangela itself isn't bad but Tangrowth can go suck a dick (not in a good way)
>focus sashes, air balloons, herbs, berries, gems, etc
I don't use them lmao, so I don't know, dunno if they are consumed on PvP, but they are dirt cheap tho around 1k, so you might also get them from a wild pokemon.
Most items are grindable in one way or another, even shit like leftovers and life orbs.
https://forums.pokemmo.com/index.php?/topic/149810-pvp-should-not-consume-items/
Gen 2 was so bad, Gen 4 had to save it by giving half of it's Pokemon usable evolutions.
deadcario
Also Magcargo is genuinenly a cool design hurt by Gamefreak weird fetish of making a shitmon stat wise and for some odd reason making it a post game catch.
gen 1 and 2 are kino
Please catch my 1-2$ encounter rate faves, Clefairy and Chansey.
Chansey is cancer to catch before the endgame
Catching rare Pokemon like Clefairy and Chansey would fill you with a sense of satisfaction.
No it wouldn't. Frick that pii-pii b***h and "lucky."
Filtered.
Why 1% and 2% specifically?
Don't be moronic and play the main games they suck, play PokeMMO instead it has the first 5 gens with improved difficulty, easy trade evolutions, PvP and you can use your pokemon for any region as long as they are below your current level cap.
It is the best way to experience gen 1 to 5.
brain damaged
Enjoy not being able to use Gengar and Alakazam.
>not being able to use Gengar and Alakazam.
what is pkhex
Isn't there like a 10 base stat difference between pre evos and trade evos in gen 1? You're genuinenly not missing a lot, even less in Gen 1 with the Gengar line being the monolith of Gamefreak Game Design moronation (The only Ghost type line in the game uses Special, but Ghost attacks are bassed on the Attack stat) and Psychin being busted enough for Kadabra alone to sweep thru shit.
>unironically shilling for an MMO
another victim of grind brainrot
>grind
You don't need to grind for shit, it is literally just the base games but with a slight difficulty improvements, if you get bodied by something you are just bad.
>cheating in pokemon
lol, lmao, make them shiny and give them perfect IVs, favorable nature and items while you are at it, homosexual.
>he considers flipping a fricking flag from 0 to 1 cheating
you're brainwashed and need to be put down for the good of humanity.
Sure thing you are just going to do that, if you already are cheating then it won't be hard for you to cheat even more.
what's with the gijinka. Are those actually catcheable in PokeMMO?
It's the Moemon mod
It is a mod the pokemon are normally displayed on their gen 5 animated sprites.
pretty cool if it's really your first time but also gets boring
make sure you emulate so you can fast forward which you'll be doing 92% of the time
Don't play any base game except for Emerald, maybe Fire Red/Leaf Green, and Black2/White2. Play romhacks

>Fool's Gold
devs have a fetish for HM overuse, highly recommend you either cheat or outright stop playing post-kanto
yeah right sure, not falling for that
are consumable held items still single-use? can IVs and natures be modified? can EVs be reset? does the move relearner still require heart scales?
>I still wonder to this day why the frick ghost was made a fricking physical type
they put bricks inside of every shadow ball
Lucky egg and amulet coin are single use, but you don't need them for the main game, you get a lot of money to purchase as many potions pokeballs and revives as you want, is 5 regions, by the end of playing them you will have over 1M and there is nothing in the main games that requires level 100, in fact the only thing that needs it is the combat against red but that shit is absolute postgame as in full dex completion postgame and just another way to get money.
I'm not that anon but I've been playing MMO lately
Yes, yes but only for legendaries, yes with berries, yes but heart scales are pretty easy to farm.
>just play Kaizoshit bro
A great way to scare away anyone. If someone is just getting into Pokemon, they won't be able to handle those games, simple as. They require IV/EV autism, how visible stats work, how the moves and setups work, all the type matchups, what each mon gets as they level and evolve, what moves are good, what TMs to use, etc. If you've been playing Pokemon since kindergarten - sure, it's a way to spice things up. But a new player would simply drop this shit after getting assraped in their first gym with no clear counterplay.
Was Pokemon ever good?
Or did we just like it because of Pokemania?
Pokemon was a collective experience, it was about bringing your Game Boy to school and trade and battle with your friends, no one cared about IV or EV bullshit, it was only about collecting cool-looking critters and share your experience with everyone else. Ironically enough, the introduction of online destroyed that sense of community, there's no need to meet people to play when you can just ask for strangers on the internet to give you whatever Pokemon you need.
this thats why pokemon GO was big like pokemania catching and collecting is the core concept of pokemon not the battles
The definitive list
S: Black 2/White 2, Emerald
A: Fire Red/Leaf Green
B: Crystal
C: Everything else except...
D: Switch games + DiaPer
crystal to a, hgss to s, swsh and sv to b, arceus to s
crystal is better than hg
i was thinking about putting crystal in s honestly, or maybe ss. It's my favorite pokemon game but I assumed that was nostalgia, I haven't played it in at least a decade
stop playing before you hit gen 5 and you're good
>18 seconds apart
not fooling anyone here
don't bother, it's a bunch of discordgays with a chip on their shoulder, they've been doing this both in here and /vg/ for a some time now
*/vp/
god i'm fricking blind
Pretending gen 5 is good is the mark of a true zoomer sheep. Like we get it, you grew up with these games and don't know better.
I grew up with RBY and GSC, and gen 3 and 5 are the clear peaks gameplay-wise. Infinite TMs, reusable repels, multiple healing items off the same usage for different mons, hidden grottos, shiny charms, tons of cool new mons, TONS of cool new fighting, bug and dark types, gems, weather wars, all absolute FRICKING KINOOOOO
secret bases were the dumbest thing in gen3 and also one of my favorites
>and gen 3 and 5 are the clear peaks gameplay-wise
Ranger is good too.

pleasantly surprised you didn't link the final boss theme or the gears one
Earthquake is not FIRE, it's GROUND.
A game designed for 4 year olds that's propped up by nostalgiagays and completely pointless to play if you have experience with any other JRPG
Three solid generations
Two subpar ones that are still playable
Garbage for the rest of the series
>motto is "Gotta Catch 'em all!"
>can't claim that anymore as newer games with more Pokemom are out there
>can't claim that at all as mainline games since Sword/Shield cut down their Pokedex amd leave out some mons
A lie.
That's the point. You thought you caught em all? Nope, you gotta buy the new game!
This shit was predatory from the start
>what if we release the same game 2 times but with slight differences
Not to mention the third "better" version (is also missing pokemon)
The only thing I can say as a positive about the newer generations is that the concept of a third version finally disappeared because GF finally figured out how to do DLC. Unfortunately, those newer games have become some of the most barebones in the series.
you will never make it with that attitude. aso;difqwoieno21 i4298
motto only exist in america and not in japan
The visuals are piss-poor and so is the performance, but as long as you emulate, you'll be fine.
shit opinion
>you should play Gen 5
Absolute leddit opinion. That'd be as stupid as playing the Etrian games backwards from 5
>Gen 9 is way better than what pokegays would tell you
Not sure if bait or just moronic.
what's so terrible about gen 9 then?
Character designs, Pokemon designs, zone designs, graphics, performance, bugs, incomplete dex.
Arceus is a great middle ground, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone just getting into Pokemon.
i agree with you, but
>they're designed by diffferent people than before
anon...
>Character designs, Pokemon designs, zone designs, graphics, performance, bugs, incomplete dex.
literally every game past gen 2, OP just play first and second generation, the rest is utter shit
Gen 2 is absolute shit.
I'm sorry you missed out on the golden age, bro.
More like the golden shower age, gotta drink piss when you are trying to eat such a dry piece of shit such as gen 2.
Sorry you weren't there, man.
>It's another Hoennmanbaby
This. everything past gen 2 is just the same shit but worse
>Absolute leddit opinion
"Popular opinion wrong".
I don't because I emulate.
Gen 9 is atrocious dogshit and you're literally subhuman if you don't take issue with how horrifically ugly and soulless that ESG slop appears.
you picked the wrong game
pokemon peaked here
Play pokemon clover you fricks.
>cringe OC fakemons whose only trait is shock value
>cringe humor stuck in 2016 that mostly aged like crap
Also, any newbie wouldn't be able to play Clover, it's designed for people familiar with Pokemon.
Bro is just rock paper and scissors, if the enemy is fire use water, simple as
>b-but the enemy predicted the water and switched to a grass type
Just switch to your fire type and repeat the process lmao.
Except when your opponent has some dual type with a high-level beam of frick that outspeeds you. I'm sure you can solve it and even have fun doing that, but someone who doesn't even know how speed works in Pokemon would have a miserable time. Clover is just not something you can recommend to beginners, and the devs would tell you so themselves.
>get corooster
>ability: you always go first, frick the opponent speed
>brave bird
>enemy dies due to high damage priority move
gg ez just get a party of 6 coroosters all with gale wing and brave bird
Like I said, I'm sure you can figure it out.
Sorry zoomer you had to be there. You won't get it.
Get the King
I remember Nidoqueen being better
The Randomlocke
>Catch first Pokemon in each area
>When you defeat a gym, or wipe out, re-roll your team from your caught Pokemon
>When entering a new area, must defeat all trainers in one go (can't go back to heal)
>Can only buy x5 of the highest Potion at each Mart
Give it a try today!
>haha let's make this kid's game tedious
why?
I hate coming up with own rules to make the game challenging. Having built-in randomizer would at least make the game interesting for future runs but Game Freak would never do any more work than they have to even though I feel like that wouldn't be hard to implement.
Spamming Metronome and getting good at the slots were the best part of this game
Metronome battles against a friend in Stadium were good.
Start with Yellow. You can disregard the others.
What video game franchise would be my ideal alternative to Pokemon?
look for
>game without fairies
>anti-pokemon game
>I hate RPG's
>franchise that only has single player games
>non-competitive game
>game without multiplayer
>franchise whose target is totally opposite to that of pokemon.
>>I hate RPG's
Nothing, I think most if not all monster raising games are RPGs, and the ones that are not are the ones where the monsters are not the main focus.
I don't care what genre the game is
I am only interested in franchises that meet what I am looking for.
What is an "anti-Pokemon" game? What themes does it have? On a scale of 1 to Yes, how gay and ugly are you?
look for my pokemon died and has been dead since 2013
and I want a video game without any fairies
without anything competitive
and that it is totally single player
You didn't answer any of my questions, fart huffer.
Any puzzle games.
Which puzzle game would you recommend?
By the way, I can't play any Tetris (long live Ukraine and frick Russia)
Puyo Puyo
Reasons why puyo puyo would be my ideal alternative to replace pokemon?
Reason why it wouldn't?
Uh... Wolfenstein 3D?
Is there something for Wolfenstein 3D that removes all the fricking Nazi symbols?
I know this is bait but Wolfenstein 3D for the GBA.
>most if not all monster raising games are RPGs
Monster rancher is more like a pet raising sim with combat. Also, Digimon World Championship.
you sound like a total gay but im posting this list i have for other anons to give these games a try
World of Final Fantasy, and the Shin Megami Tensei series of games.
lrn2 mew trick and also get missingno for the funny hall of fame antics
other than glitches rby has little value
dont fall for gen 5 is good lmao is just kanto but americanized and the gen started everythig wrong with the series the people like that shit weebtrannies becuse it got an anime trailer and they call it "mature"
>OG Gen 1 and not Gen 3 or Let's Go
I think you're in for a fun time because only based people are willing to start by release order
Uh oh, hoenn lives rent-free inside the minds of the johtroons.
>outright confirming it
KWAL
just play better games not games for babies
>(west)kantoddlers and hoennigs are infighting again
feels great to be an alolachad
>alola
this image is anti-alola propaganda, don't fall for their lies
jokes aside
>dp that much higher than plat
what the frick
what do you expect from japan they have the shittiest taste ever
they hated platinum because the distortion world and since gen 5 the games are more linear
Initial versions get a bump since they were bought by far more people. Despite that, SM/USUM are the only games (as of the time of this poll. SV weren't out but they likely would've made it) to not be in the top 100.
Man I’m not really a fan of post gen 5 games but I always at least thought the gen 7 games were beta than XY, but I guess I’m in the minority in that regard
>beta
Now how I’m meant to spell better but sure
Alola was such a comfy region, the girls peaked in that region and the OST was amazing, shame the games were a fricking slog to play.
>alolachad
Doesn't exist. No one gives a frick about gen 7
Johto Black folk begone, you are nothing more than a KANTOOOOOOOOOOOO circle jerk.
This post was brought to you by an Unovachad.
>playin pokemon
lol pokemon is just for memes and porn
good in it's simplicity.
Aim to be a pokemon master > Gotta catch em all
?si=7yGZayNKGsjJZaSk
Aged shallow games that never evolved and are kept hostage by a genuinely terrible developer
decided to play blue version a couple weeks ago
my current team
>blastoise
>raichu
>clefairy
>ninetales
>hitmonlee
>marowak
Get rid of this furshit and catch a Chansey.
>Chansey in gen 1
Literally the best Pokemon in the game.
Bulbasaur is not great because grass moves have no PP until later generations. It's okay for a gym fight or whatever but most of the game is an endurance run through large areas and many trainers, and 10pp of vine whip and leech seed won't cut it. Squirtle on the other hand is great through the whole game.
The definitive gen 1 experience.

Well done anon well done, however...

>Hold B to double your speed when walking, surfing, and biking
Jesus, why not make it a toggle? Haven't they learned shit from the miserable shitshow that was SM64 DS?
Why make it a toggle?
You ever play, I mean suffer through Super Mario 64 DS?
No. I did play through Shin fine though.
play black or white they’re widely considered the best games
nuzlocke them otherwise they'll be too easy
Some gay released a romhack of Crystal and it's completely superior to the original and HGSS. The fact I can get a Houndour before Kanto is already good. The fact that it makes a lot of Gen 2 pokemon stats good is great. I can have a useful Ariados now. Still piss easy tho
The one that ytber made? Yeah, it's still easy, but it's still more 'difficult' than any mainline entry so kind of a moot point.
I'd still rather play any official Johto game and deal with its oddities or just play a hack with updated mechanics than it though.
>What am I in for?
Holding down the fast forward button on your emulator the entire time.
ch-check it, zoomie. get a psychic type ASAP and don't play anything past gen 3 ya feel me? get 2 is peak soul, silver version all the way.
