Attempting to sprint automatically causes you to stand up and die. I actually passed through with no problem my first time, but then the game crashed at the injury station and I had to do it again and died because I was sprinting the whole time the second time.

I tend to think that all the divers on your ship are part of the same platoon/division, with your armour being your uniform. As your platoon proves themselves worthy they gain access to more and more resources. Also I like the headcanon of another anon from one thread who said that the shitters get defrosted first which explains the growth in player skill.

I just wish the maps attempted more verticality or indoor moments, coming from Starfield straight to here made it kind of tough to bare. I guess it has to be that way for strategems, but a creative solution to circumvent that never seemed to be on the table.
I finally decided to give the "meta" build a try. Rail+Shield. Fricking hated it Trying to rail down Chargers is just stupid. I think it might actually be easier to kill them with an Arc. You only get 1 rail shot per charge, and then after 2-3 shots to the same leg you have to switch weapons and hit it a few more times. Compare to the Arc which is 8 shots to the face, and if you're lucky you can pull that off in the first charge. No weapon switching necessary, and you might even kill some trash for free while you are doing it. Rail works great on Titans of course, but so do rocket pods so Titans were pretty much a non-issue anyway.
The shield is kind of OK. I think the drone is better but it does block quite a bit.
Same here I finally unlocked the Railgun and thought it was garbage.
I died by overcharging it a couple times but even with very highly charged shots I felt like I wasn't doing shit.
Autocannon is superior IMO
If you don't use first person mode, you have no indicator of how charged it is/how close to exploding.

In the heat of combat it's still hard to see beyond "it's glowing red now".
Even then I overcharged it because the railgun was so shit I thought I wasn't charging it enough. Like you had to be well into the dangerzone for it to do the damage everyone hypes it up for doing.
They're adding the Sickle next battlepass and it's going to be the same OP pulse laser as the first game. Kind of a shame because limb cutting would've been a good niche for beam weapons.
When I first used it I assumed one of two things, it would either apply a damage over time effect that increases in severity the more you hit them and ignores armour (just the dot not the hit) or it weakens the armour in the area it's hitting making it less "reliable" for example after X seconds maybe 1/5 bullets treat it as unarmoured
200% DPS so they obliterate weaker enemies while passing over them.
150% heat generation to encourage short bursts.
Doesn't penetrate armor but deals bonus damage to weak spots, like explosives.
Then give the sustained lasers some kind of damage ramp-up mechanic where they hit harder the longer you've held the trigger down. And also have them count as Explosive so they can really punish weak spots, as a precision weapon.
My suggestion would be soften armor and/or ramp up damage.
In HD1 they were fine because weakspots were basically always in the center of the target (few exceptions) and hitting orthogonally and keeping the beam there was very doable. Also literally 0 sway.
But keeping a beam steady on a 3D body and hitting a tiny weakspot there is 10 times hardeer. every tiny sway of the beam eats into your DPS. They ported the system over from HD1 with 0 adjustments and that's why they're bottom tier now. They already weren't great in HD1 too btw. (Only the pulse beam lasers were really good)

Dominator is outclassed by the fricking Slugger. It claims medium armor pen, but I haven't found anything it penetrates that light doesn't. The damage numbers are a lie too, and it doesn't even fricking explode.
The explosive ammo guns don't actually explode, they just does more damage on weakspots. However this sucks. The Slugger and Scorcher actually explode AND do the extra weakspot damage.
They are inferior but more easily accessible versions of weapons from default warbond. You need to spend 2015 medals to unlock entire basic warbond, premium is like 600 medals (I'm still not done with it). It has inferior AR, inferior sidearm, inferior slug shotgun, inferior booster and some boring skins. I guess incendiary nade and incendiary shotty are not trash, that's it.

The numbers actually are more or less linear if you stick with the online Health and Weapon Level limits. I assure you, it's not Borderlands 2's progress past TVHM, it's more like vanilla Borderlands numbers.
Crashes a lot, shitty servers disconnect you 40 minutes into a mission a lot. Majority of the weapons are underwhelming, harder difficulties are shit and make you use meta gear if youre unfortunately playing with randoms where coordination is nonexistent. There's a lot of fricking flaws.
Still getting crashes, weapon balance needs work, way too easy for Black folk to continuously grief, then if you fight back they just kick you because the host can do that (I'm assuming this is just console kiddie mental illness, I wish there was a way to turn off cross platform)
handheld infantry weapons having a traversal speed is the most ignorant and moronic design choice I've ever seen in a shooter, it tells me the devs have never touched a firearm in their life
I'm giving this game (since it's so fun) time until the fourth free warbond (so 3 months from now) to come out with an update that adds more objectives or enemies to the game. If the bulk of the content added is stratagems, guns, and skins, I won't be interested at all. The challenge is already beatable with everything in the game and I want new challenge that actually requires the new (better) stratagems to deal with.
There are extra objectives in the code already and the blabbermouth devs talked about aerial bugs on Discord, I'd be surprised if they follow in Darktide's footsteps and don't add any of it.
I really, really, REALLY wish there was a visual or sound cue for when the automaton tower aim at you. Its so obnoxious to be walking around and then get instakill sniped by a tower halfway across the map you didn't even know existed

There was a distraction beacon call down in HD1. Though honestly the mortar turret works about as well in HD2, since the "noise" it generates attracts enemies from across the map.

They have a lot of kinks to work out with planetary conquest. I was really hyped about the system originally because I could see people forming their own narratives about whatever shithole planet they were fighting over. I've been bouncing back and forth between Errata Prime (bugs) and Malevelon Creek (bots) and both of those got nuked by developer bullshit because they were getting captured too much. It just shattered any narrative I had and it made me realize all that really matters right now are the general directives. Seems like most of the players realized that too because the little campaigns people were waging on the side seems to have died down a ton.

Weapons don't exist in a vacuum. You can bust enemy structures from a distance with orbitals and grenades + throwing perk. You can also kill spore spewers with railguns, too btw, it just takes multiples shots (around 4 or so on unsafe mode). The one thing that railguns excel at, which is locking down/ killing heavies, is a much higher priority task than clearing minions (which your primary can do) and busting stationary targets. Yes, orbitals kill heavies too, but they're not always reliable. Sometimes modifiers and jammers can frick you over. You can kill heavies at exceptional rates if you master unsafe charging. I don't like the railgun meta either (I like running recoilless of all things because of the demolitions expert fantasy), but railgun+bubblepack are popular picks for a reason.

The problem, as you've identified, is that the railgun is too effective as a one-size-fits-all armor buster with very little downtime or handling issues. All of the other anti-armor options have some quirk that makes them a bit more difficult to use - Recoilless and Autocannon need a backpack or loader, EAT is one shot only, AMR barely pierces armor etc.
While the other options definitely deserve a damage buff, I personally think they should keep the railgun damage as it is, but make Unsafe shots consume 2 ammo instead of 1. There's no reason to keep it on safe right now.

My problem with unsafe charging is that it still has a crutch mechanism where it slows down past the safe threshold, eliminating any need for observation and timing. They should just let you fast charge until you blow up. Maybe also make it blow when you get ragdolled while overcharging. That means you'll actually have to switch between safe and unsafe depending on how much risk you want to take.

Hulks go down in a couple shots to the face and Chargers you can abuse the leg armor bug or just unload into their back both kills them in seconds. With multiple chargers if your really that tied up you can use a stratagem of your choosing to deal with some, even a turret just to distract can help.

Your liberation contribution isn't affected by difficulty. You affect the liberation effort just by the quantity of missions you accomplish, within an operation.
I just tested this. A full helldivers mission will only award your ass 0.0003% for the 3 missions you do, and doing a medium operation of 2 missions gives you 0.0002%. the difficulty doesn't affect it at all, lower end players are contributing the same amount as players doing helldive.
Considering how ball grindingly difficulty 7+ missions are and how much they drag on, you can easily complete a handful of medium operations in the time it takes to do 3 helldive missions. And it will mean you've contributed more to the liberation overall.
I think that needs to be fixed because now I don't want to do top difficulty missions anymore.
Do you know the most insulting part you may be upset to find out? you find SIGNIFICANTLY more super credits in lower difficulty missions than you ever do in helldive and it's less of a pain in the ass
The only reason to do high difficulty missions is to farm medals and requisition points, and both of those stop mattering at level 30.
If you want to farm super credits then just play on medium, because you'll find them everywhere.

It seems like a massive waste not to have them used to make the drinks so you can go and farm some of the rarer materials and use them to make drinks that are actually significantly beneficial on giga hard missions. Then they could actually make some challenging missions. I stopped playing in EDD and they were an absolute cakewalk.

I didn't say you have to have them. They decided to add them, and then make them do nothing during the end game.
The difference between HD2 and DRG- at this very early point (its pretty ridiculous comparing a functionally EOL game with a half finished just released one) is that the progression for HD2 is much more gradual than DRG, especially when I presume they intend on adding more warbonds.

Chargers are simply too agile. They should charge and you should dodge. They should not be able to turn on a dime like they do. I'm sorry but it is just bad design, no matter how much your meta weapon kills them.
I just bought the game and literally found a flaw 5 seconds into the game. I can't even do the very first tutorial objective. Crouch isn't short enough to get under the barbed wire and if I prone it's just an invisible wall so I still can't go under it. Nice fricking game.
Realistically all they have to do is add a mobile SAM cost 2 strategem, 35% faster than sprint, requires fuel (strategem or uncommon in settlements/millitary structures) and make it customizable

Guns had upgrades in the first game and I'm pretty sure someone said that it's already in the game files for HD2 too. Gotta have another way to dump samples after maxing the ship.

The harder difficulties relying on stun lock. Walk through some slightly tall grass? That's a slowdown. Acid got within 10 feet of you? That's a slowdown. Swarms of enemies hitting you faster than you can heal (with hurtboxes larger than what they appear, so you're being hit by thin air)? That's a slowdown.
Likely the tank among other vehicles are coming, so hopefully swords as well! i can't remember if the original Helldivers had swords/melee weapons or not, but I vaguely remember at least a bayonet.

No, amazingly unlike most everything out there, SO FAR the monetization is not shitty. The "warbonds" are like battle passes but

Pretty damn amazing, plus you can easily earn 250 credits by consistent play and/or the other stuff. Hell, I am feeling like I want to buy some extra credits just to support them NOT enshittifying the game so far.

Apparently the fake listings for Helldivers 2 are the result of some two-bit indie developer changing the listings for their old, published games to copy the entries for HD2. That's why they have erroneous release dates.
Saw a few more recent clips of the mechs. Looks like they boot you out when they take too much damage rather than taking you down with them though there's probably an exception if you take tremendous instantaneous damage (such as sitting on a hellbomb).

As your platoon proves themselves worthy they gain access to more and more resources. I finally decided to give the "meta" build a try. Rail+Shield. Fricking hated it Trying to rail down Chargers is just stupid. I think it might actually be easier to kill them with an Arc. You only get 1 rail shot per charge, and then after 2-3 shots to the same leg you have to switch weapons and hit it a few more times. Compare to the Arc which is 8 shots to the face, and if you're lucky you can pull that off in the first charge. No weapon switching necessary, and you might even kill some trash for free while you are doing it. Rail works great on Titans of course, but so do rocket pods so Titans were pretty much a non-issue anyway.
The shield is kind of OK. I think the drone is better but it does block quite a bit.
Same here I finally unlocked the Railgun and thought it was garbage.
I died by overcharging it a couple times but even with very highly charged shots I felt like I wasn't doing shit.

If you don't use first person mode, you have no indicator of how charged it is/how close to exploding.

In the heat of combat it's still hard to see beyond "it's glowing red now".
Even then I overcharged it because the railgun was so shit I thought I wasn't charging it enough. Like you had to be well into the dangerzone for it to do the damage everyone hypes it up for doing.

They're adding the Sickle next battlepass and it's going to be the same OP pulse laser as the first game. Kind of a shame because limb cutting would've been a good niche for beam weapons.

When I first used it I assumed one of two things, it would either apply a damage over time effect that increases in severity the more you hit them and ignores armour (just the dot not the hit) or it weakens the armour in the area it's hitting making it less "reliable" for example after X seconds maybe 1/5 bullets treat it as unarmoured

No, the sickle is coming already. Sustained beams are the entire gimmick.
Then give the sustained lasers some kind of damage ramp-up mechanic where they hit harder the longer you've held the trigger down. And also have them count as Explosive so they can really punish weak spots, as a precision weapon.
My suggestion would be soften armor and/or ramp up damage.
In HD1 they were fine because weakspots were basically always in the center of the target (few exceptions) and hitting orthogonally and keeping the beam there was very doable. Also literally 0 sway.
But keeping a beam steady on a 3D body and hitting a tiny weakspot there is 10 times hardeer. every tiny sway of the beam eats into your DPS. They ported the system over from HD1 with 0 adjustments and that's why they're bottom tier now. They already weren't great in HD1 too btw. (Only the pulse beam lasers were really good)

They're honestly downgrades compared to the normal pass weapons. Explosive liberator fires like half as fast, Dominator is a worse version of the Scorcher, etc.
Dominator is outclassed by the fricking Slugger. It claims medium armor pen, but I haven't found anything it penetrates that light doesn't. The damage numbers are a lie too, and it doesn't even fricking explode.
It can two-tap hulks to the eyehole, but then so can the Slugger. Keep in mind the Slugger actually has Medium pen rather than the listed Light pen.
The explosive ammo guns don't actually explode, they just does more damage on weakspots. However this sucks. The Slugger and Scorcher actually explode AND do the extra weakspot damage.
They are inferior but more easily accessible versions of weapons from default warbond. You need to spend 2015 medals to unlock entire basic warbond, premium is like 600 medals (I'm still not done with it). It has inferior AR, inferior sidearm, inferior slug shotgun, inferior booster and some boring skins. I guess incendiary nade and incendiary shotty are not trash, that's it.

The numbers actually are more or less linear if you stick with the online Health and Weapon Level limits. I assure you, it's not Borderlands 2's progress past TVHM, it's more like vanilla Borderlands numbers.
Crashes a lot, shitty servers disconnect you 40 minutes into a mission a lot. Majority of the weapons are underwhelming, harder difficulties are shit and make you use meta gear if youre unfortunately playing with randoms where coordination is nonexistent. There's a lot of fricking flaws.
Still getting crashes, weapon balance needs work, way too easy for Black folk to continuously grief, then if you fight back they just kick you because the host can do that (I'm assuming this is just console kiddie mental illness, I wish there was a way to turn off cross platform)

I'm giving this game (since it's so fun) time until the fourth free warbond (so 3 months from now) to come out with an update that adds more objectives or enemies to the game. If the bulk of the content added is stratagems, guns, and skins, I won't be interested at all. The challenge is already beatable with everything in the game and I want new challenge that actually requires the new (better) stratagems to deal with.
There are extra objectives in the code already and the blabbermouth devs talked about aerial bugs on Discord, I'd be surprised if they follow in Darktide's footsteps and don't add any of it.

They have a lot of kinks to work out with planetary conquest. I was really hyped about the system originally because I could see people forming their own narratives about whatever shithole planet they were fighting over. I've been bouncing back and forth between Errata Prime (bugs) and Malevelon Creek (bots) and both of those got nuked by developer bullshit because they were getting captured too much. It just shattered any narrative I had and it made me realize all that really matters right now are the general directives. Seems like most of the players realized that too because the little campaigns people were waging on the side seems to have died down a ton.

Weapons don't exist in a vacuum. You can bust enemy structures from a distance with orbitals and grenades + throwing perk. You can also kill spore spewers with railguns, too btw, it just takes multiples shots (around 4 or so on unsafe mode). The one thing that railguns excel at, which is locking down/ killing heavies, is a much higher priority task than clearing minions (which your primary can do) and busting stationary targets. Yes, orbitals kill heavies too, but they're not always reliable. Sometimes modifiers and jammers can frick you over. You can kill heavies at exceptional rates if you master unsafe charging. I don't like the railgun meta either (I like running recoilless of all things because of the demolitions expert fantasy), but railgun+bubblepack are popular picks for a reason.
The problem, as you've identified, is that the railgun is too effective as a one-size-fits-all armor buster with very little downtime or handling issues. All of the other anti-armor options have some quirk that makes them a bit more difficult to use - Recoilless and Autocannon need a backpack or loader, EAT is one shot only, AMR barely pierces armor etc.
While the other options definitely deserve a damage buff, I personally think they should keep the railgun damage as it is, but make Unsafe shots consume 2 ammo instead of 1. There's no reason to keep it on safe right now.
My problem with unsafe charging is that it still has a crutch mechanism where it slows down past the safe threshold, eliminating any need for observation and timing. They should just let you fast charge until you blow up. Maybe also make it blow when you get ragdolled while overcharging. That means you'll actually have to switch between safe and unsafe depending on how much risk you want to take.
Autocannon being able to destroy structures saves your nades AND strategem slots for shit that could clear minions or more heavies easily.

So 4 shots with charge time + reload while Autocannon can back-to-back fire 3 rounds into it and destroy it easily
Railgun is indeed effective at locking down heavies but it's ONLY good for that and other weapons (like Autocannon) can do just as much with a little bit more effort (read: skill)

Hulks go down in a couple shots to the face and Chargers you can abuse the leg armor bug or just unload into their back both kills them in seconds. With multiple chargers if your really that tied up you can use a stratagem of your choosing to deal with some, even a turret just to distract can help.
Hulks seems to only have Med armor on their visors, which AC seems to be able to pen head-on with 2 shots

Your liberation contribution isn't affected by difficulty. You affect the liberation effort just by the quantity of missions you accomplish, within an operation.
I just tested this. A full helldivers mission will only award your ass 0.0003% for the 3 missions you do, and doing a medium operation of 2 missions gives you 0.0002%. the difficulty doesn't affect it at all, lower end players are contributing the same amount as players doing helldive.
Considering how ball grindingly difficulty 7+ missions are and how much they drag on, you can easily complete a handful of medium operations in the time it takes to do 3 helldive missions. And it will mean you've contributed more to the liberation overall.
I think that needs to be fixed because now I don't want to do top difficulty missions anymore.
Do you know the most insulting part you may be upset to find out? you find SIGNIFICANTLY more super credits in lower difficulty missions than you ever do in helldive and it's less of a pain in the ass
The only reason to do high difficulty missions is to farm medals and requisition points, and both of those stop mattering at level 30.
If you want to farm super credits then just play on medium, because you'll find them everywhere.

I haven't played DRG for a while but I dropped it when I realised none of the shit you can collect from missions actually do anything once you've unlocked all your skills and weapon upgrades.
It seems like a massive waste not to have them used to make the drinks so you can go and farm some of the rarer materials and use them to make drinks that are actually significantly beneficial on giga hard missions. Then they could actually make some challenging missions. I stopped playing in EDD and they were an absolute cakewalk.

The difference between HD2 and DRG- at this very early point (its pretty ridiculous comparing a functionally EOL game with a half finished just released one) is that the progression for HD2 is much more gradual than DRG, especially when I presume they intend on adding more warbonds.

I just bought the game and literally found a flaw 5 seconds into the game. I can't even do the very first tutorial objective. Crouch isn't short enough to get under the barbed wire and if I prone it's just an invisible wall so I still can't go under it. Nice fricking game.

Dlligence base is pretty good against bugs. CS definitely needs either some sway reduction or something to justify its insane sway, though.
Realistically all they have to do is add a mobile SAM cost 2 strategem, 35% faster than sprint, requires fuel (strategem or uncommon in settlements/millitary structures) and make it customizable
so you can interchange the weapon to gatling turrets, flamethrower, arc thrower, or even missile launcher
They should juts make guns upgradeable, it would solve everything.

Guns had upgrades in the first game and I'm pretty sure someone said that it's already in the game files for HD2 too. Gotta have another way to dump samples after maxing the ship.
Different mods would be good too. Add armor piercing to a gun, or explosive rounds. Its dumb to have tiers of weapons that are simply better in everyway than others.

The harder difficulties relying on stun lock. Walk through some slightly tall grass? That's a slowdown. Acid got within 10 feet of you? That's a slowdown. Swarms of enemies hitting you faster than you can heal (with hurtboxes larger than what they appear, so you're being hit by thin air)? That's a slowdown.

Warbonds don't go away. Once they are added into the game, it stays forever, as opposed to the ROTATING cosmetics (that confer tangible stats boost) shop.
i imagine warbonds will eventually fix the unique armor weight and passive combinations the super store has.
No, amazingly unlike most everything out there, SO FAR the monetization is not shitty. The "warbonds" are like battle passes but

Right now there are 2 warbonds, one is free and has like 11 pages of stuff. The one with the revolver is the "premium" one that takes Super Credits to buy. You can obtain Super Credits by playing the game - some POI have them and the higher difficulties are more likely to and more of them. - as well as buying them optionally. Also the free Warbond (and the premium one so far) both have varied unlocks of Super Credits, I think there's at least 850 in the standard warbond and 250 in the first premium. Supposedl there will be new Premium warbonds monthly or so, one may be upcoming.

Also, amazingly unlike the average frick you live service game, even on the fricking super store an armor set is around $2:50 and a helmet $1 equivalent in Super Credits, not fricking $18-40! Pretty damn amazing, plus you can easily earn 250 credits by consistent play and/or the other stuff. Hell, I am feeling like I want to buy some extra credits just to support them NOT enshittifying the game so far.

It's amazing against bots. It can one shot the chain gunners and rocket bots anywhere and can one shot hulks if you nail the eyeball.

Usually those can't manage to copy the developer's name and come up in the listings too too - if it turns out to be a scam, then sure just get a refund or whatever. In any case it probably won't be up for long.

Apparently the fake listings for Helldivers 2 are the result of some two-bit indie developer changing the listings for their old, published games to copy the entries for HD2. That's why they have erroneous release dates.
