I played it recently and I enjoyed it a lot. The slow motion was addictive as frick. Hated the delirious maze levels tho, they felt really out of place.
Your natural instinct is to turn away from the fight, don't. The game actually rewards daring play.
It's sort of like that Arkham Batman games. You don't think you'll like the game more after that difficult scenario, but you will, and the results are better when you're more aggressive.
I did it by whacking two guys, taking their guns, retreating into the boiler room and lighting up the baddies one by one as they came in. You can also try rushing into the side room in the hallway on the right, there's a bunch of equipment inside
The pills would ease the pain. The Max Pain(e).
I think I did a full playthrough immediately after beating it, trying to see how to sequence break after learning all the new techniques.
Max Payne is a one and done movie game. The "adaptive difficulty" makes it complete ass
