Finished the first level and I don't find it fun. Combat is pretty janky. Is it worth continuing?

"Jank" is a word zoomers use when the game has to be played on its own terms.
It's not call of duty homie, sit your arse down and just appreciate it for what it is. If you gotta find a new way to realise your intentions, then GOOD, find that way because it's a different game after all; it should play differently to call of duty
and "zoomer" is a word people use to shut down conversations, what's your point
The problem is the combat is some weird hybrid of shooter and whatever the first game did. If they just either left it like the combat in PE1 or just made it a regular shooter like Resident Evils then I would be ok with it, but they made it a worst of both worlds.
I've played lots of games where it sucks in the beginning then turns into a masterpiece so that's why I ask.
>"Jank" is a word zoomers use when the game has to be played on its own terms
Yeah, because shitty convoluted gameplay experiences don't ever happen
Not even a zoomer but this "ur a zoomer if u think that" bullshit is as moronic as posting "ur a troony" when someone says something you disagree with.
chances are i will disagree with a troony/communist tho...
>shitty convoluted gameplay experiences
I've played games that were too hard and games that were boring, but never games that were too complicated to learn. But I also find learning new things fun, even if it's just for the sake of learning and doesn't serve any other purpose.
I think the word "jank" has a lot of merit. For example if there's a strategy game where you first have to open a menu and select "Move" before you can even select a unit that would be "janky" compared to just selecting the unit and clicking where to move. Or if a game has really long load times between each inputted command because of hardware limitations, that's "jank". But the term is definitely overused to just mean "unconventional control scheme or gameplay that I don't want to learn".
It's like a lot of words, where it had some meaning at some point, but became so overused as to become meaningless. It's a good reason why it's worthwhile to type out full thoughts rather than relying of vague terms.
Shut up homosexual
Jank is a real thing, but it has to come from European pc games
"jank" is just newspeak for "i cant deal with slower and more deliberate combat". same reason zoomers cant play PS2 monster hunter, they need everything to be FAST FAST FAST flashy adhd shit, they cant deal with combat that forces you to pay attention and confuse slow with "clunky"
well, in this case, jank refers to a big downgrade compared to the first game and/or comparable games of the era, which is what I am basing my expectations on. PE1 had a unique but fine system.
So, you used Jank in a way that really doesn't fit well with how it's used. So, another reason why it's good to just write what you mean clearly.
That game Is a masterpiece, wtf you're talking about? I put PE2 above all PS1 Resis. Play some of the desert part, If you still don't like it, just drop it. There's no point in playing if you are not having fun.
>There's no point in playing if you are not having fun.
it depends, when i get my ass kicked by a game im not having fun but i have fun when i finally succeed but if OP find the gameplay shit then yea i would probably drop it.
I'm having that issue with another game right now, I'm really starting to hate the game and myself. I'd like to see it through but I may not and that's what's upsetting me. But time is finite.
>That game Is a masterpiece
HAHAHA no.
Combat is janky but it gets better, the first level is kinda hamfisted. When you get to Dryfield it gets super comfy. Keep playing, its a very well designed game with plenty of attention to detail and visuals that had a lot of care put into it.
No. It's a bad RE ripoff and everything that made the first game special and cool is ruined in it. Also the story is nowhere near as interesting.
Don't believe the shills.
The combat is not janky at all though. Looks like a skill issue.
The combat's no brain shit. Takes no skill, homosexual.
What is your point? No video game has combat that takes skill outside of competitive pvp PC games like CS, Quake and Starcraft. You are a shitter.
>I don't find it fun.
>Is it worth continuing?
Game gets better during the desert.
Just learn to dodge and shoot.
Don't waste too much ammo at the beginning.
Level up the fire spell so you can use Inferno.
Energyshot + Grenades make every boss much easier.
Read a guide if you want to unlock the better ending.
if you loved aya enough from the first game and already beat it, then possibly.
ive been meaning to play through it but i just rarely have time lately - possibly on psp at work during my lunch but no promises
good memories from the first title but many anon here say p2 is way different
Nah, it's just kind of a mediocre RE knockoff. If you didn't like the opening bit in the city I doubt you'd like the rest of the game either.
No its complete shit.
They took the RPG mechanics from the first one and dumped them to make an even more cumbersome and slow RE knockoff.
Man, the fact that you can't reload or heal unless you have the items on your pouch, even though you have them in your inventory, is next level irritating.
If you had access to all the items in combat the game would become too easy. That's part of the game mechanics.
The opening is the best part.
The writer of Resident Evil left Capcom, joins Square, then decides to use his sequel idea to make a Resident Evil sequel under the name Parasite Eve.
The game is a sequel idea for PE2 then shifts into his idea for a RE2. This is why the game starts off about being in LA, then it drops that premise entirely.
Didn't a bunch of people who worked on RE1 and 2 also quit and go to Square to work on PE2?
No. People only pretend to like it because the first one is somewhat fondly remembered among PS1 and JRPG fans so they gotta suck off the failed RE clone sequel to look special.
I decided to continue playing and the game actually got good for me. The combat is still annoying, especially with the constant camera changes, but everything else is pretty enjoyable.
This is why I made the thread in the first place, and frick all of you who said I was dumb for asking why I am playing a game if it isn't fun.
