The "DLC" is just paying to unlock all factions instantly (9 of them in total). Otherwise you can unlock those same factions through ingame currency which you earn by playing the game.
The devs said that there was a bug with the ingame currency and that players weren't earning as much of it as they were supposed to, but they would fix that in the next patch and gift everybody a free faction for the inconvenience.
There are no purchases other than for factions and the grind is not horrible, plus other than the factions, there are no upgrades and you can't buy in game currency.
Lootboxes don't exist either.

its funny but the game has a terrible UI and visuals not the actual at but units are very hard to see since they ake up 10% of the squares they occupy also the game is super unfinshed and theres barely anything besides 1v1 MP
literally the only thing that you have to buy is the american campaign, everything else is just music or pay to not grind(for a grind that only takes a couple of hours)

I don't normally play this kind of games but I tried it and found it confusing, uncomfortable and ugly. I wasn't interested enough to keep going so I quit.
Its out already? I had it on my watchlist for few months now, i like the artstyle and time period although small numbers of units on the battlefield is kind of worrying, i hoped they would reach at least Fields of Glory scale

When it got launched first it was buggy as hell but after a day they patched it all up and now it runs smooth.
Can't say about how the meta will turn out, but I enjoyed it regardless.
The dev is committed to keep it free even after Early Access, so take that as you may.

Black person, there were four different coalition wars during the era clumped together as the Napoleonic wars. Two more during the revolutionary period. Prussia took part in some of them, lost early and triumphed later on when they reformed their army completely. And it's that army that developed to be the rape train it was during the Victorian era.

my man obviously gets his take from pop-history. The reform of the prussian army under Gneisanau Scharnhorst and Clausewitz with the willing command Blucher produced great results. But they still didnt preform at an "amazing" rate in which we would see in later years. Blucher lost initially in the 100 days campaign before waterloo, Austrian and Russia did all the heavy lifting during the German war of liberation and onwards, and again they got handled during the six days campaign against French 14 year olds who got taught how to shoot and load a musket mid battle.

I only ever fought frogs and brits haven't seen other factions beside russians once.I don't know about other factions since no one seems to play them but so far 4 bavarians with bavarian rifles seem to be enough to deal everything while the mortar finishes off damaged units and cav.

They don't like getting shot but can run through most rough terrain. What I usually do is run my ass to get in Melee as soon as possible with some cannons covering them.

Grinding shit just plain isn't fun, not in PvP games at least, and I pity the people who have a lot of free time and spend it grinding a virtual job

it doesn't matter that your units suck, you get twice as many of them as your opponent and they all have 6 fricking health, all you need to do is run them in attack columns and turn the enemy firing line into a clusterfrick melee, which you will win because you just have more units
there's 8 factions, you start with enough points to pick any 3 you want
you'll get enough for another faction after like, 10 matches tops

It's a ridiculously shallow game, fundamentally ruined by its turns system, which manages to take the worst out of both WEGO and IGOUGO worlds in an impressive manner. The devs are smart enough to implement actual MP unlike the Ultimate General and Grand Tactician devs, but the game itself is just not worth it. No idea why you would release it on PC, it's a mobile game through and through and would be a hit on that platform.
All GSG are mobile games by definition, since all you need to do is just click (not in asiatic fashion, so phonegay sausage fingers can handle it) and they don't have any graphics or physics that require hardware.
If a game doesn't lose anything from being ported to your phone and gains nothing from being on your PC, then it's not a PC game, it's misplaced mobilecuck shovelware.
I agree that there is shallowness in the sense that a few mechanics don't feel fully fleshed out. For example terrain isn't really impactful at all right now, and the one (wtf????) map for matchmaking is so bland that terrain can largely be ignored. The cohesion system could also stand to be made a bit more complex/variable. More maps, more perks, and some tweaks to existing mechanics and I think the game is great for scratching a multiplayer tactical itch that isn't really present in PC gaming right now.

It's a good game. The core concept is solid and there's room to improve on the mechanics to make the game a bit more complex. The simultaneous turn system is cool and it feels good. The game needs polish though. The UI is dogshit and the levels of jank are off the charts. The game is early access free to play being made by non-professional developers and it really shows.

You'll be ordering your 16 troops to move individually 5 times before engagement, so it only really begins after 80 orders, assuming you dont misclick, which is very easy to do, in which case you need to click the tiny x and redo, no keyboard commands, no multi-select, suck my dick
I downloaded a pirated version with the DLCs unlocked but deleted it after 5 minutes when I figured out I can't actually inspect or read what kind of units I'm looking at in unit selection screen.
Its early alpha game, singleplayer is so halfbaked now that its not even worth playing.
But eventually when the game gets finished the campaigns can be really good
Just played multiplayer for the first time and it was really fun. I think they may have struck gold with the core gameplay; it's really slick and the need to predict your opponent's moves is great. Shame it's so damn unpolished. I lost moves thanks to trying to figure out why my units can't charge, mucking about with reserves and trying to turn my unit because the indicator keeps disappearing. They should add some kind of indicator of what moves your unit still has left in a turn. What strategies are you guys using? I'm enjoying the Russian cav swarm.
Just played my first game as Russia, and I realized how kickass infantry hordes are. Played against a Prussian player who tried to camp me with his Krupp gun. Charged that fricker with Uhlans, Volunteer Uhlans, and my frontline of militia meatshielding for my guards. I gunned straight for his Krupp gun until I cornered him and won.
to be fair, having played a few rounds with 3 krupps, it's total AIDs to take 3 modern arty
they're so expensive that they're literally all you can take, which means you have 3 undefended arty( and maybe 1 unit of smoothbore militia). which means you have to just park them on one end of the map, because if you try and do anything else they get rushed and torn apart. But as long as you camp, your opponent needs to be an actual psychic to defeat you because any unit that walks into their line of fire instantly evaporates
this is still basically true with 2 of them but at least it's not quite as insulting because you can take some infantry to stand near them menacingly
Hotkeys as stated in the patchnotes are: >R,F,C now quick select the options for fire at will, firing, and charging. T,G,V now quick select the options for swapping reserve, moving, and changing formation.

Cavalry being artillery hunters is a common point in pretty much every game I can think of.
I will be playing this instead of Victoria 3.
Victoria 3 has left me wounded with no Victorian warfare in the game. Liek they just gave you weird ww2 bunkers to show war. Lame.
