Wish they'd make some mappainting gaem(something like sengoku rance but with fe battles) instead of going full on gacha vtuber shit
Battles need to be quick and snappy if you're doing map painting. If someone invaded the same province over and over again and you had to do the same long FE battle over and over again, it'd probably get pretty tedious. I think the games work the best with well made missions.
>Battles need to be quick and snappy if you're doing map painting
Yet people enjoy total war map painting just fine
You're doing 100+ missions anyway might as well paint the map along with it
>Yet people enjoy total war map painting just fine
One of the biggest complaints is having to do the same settlement battles over and over again and people repeatedly auto resolve battles after a certain point in their campaigns, sometimes taking losses they shouldn't just because they can't be bothered.
Add some sort of improved autoresolve, keep "manual" only for decisive battles (to not trigger autistic minmaxers)
Better than just doing the same old "missions" with endless cringe drama bloat in-between them
But I like cringe anime drama in my tactics games. I'm sure you could make your idea work though, if you know what you're doing you can make most video game ideas work.
I played some of the older FE games, then later I played FE:Awakening and Sengoku Rance.
FE:Awakening's not everyone cup of tea. The plot's stakes feel less relevant because you get at least a dozen or so paralogues (extra battles to get extra characters) and repeatable skirmishes. Plus the bonus maps that you can grind for loot/special items for class changes.
The point is that a plot's stakes die down once you add replayability and tone down the sense of urgency that was in older FE. You jump between battles with some downtime to use class change items, share weapons/vulneraries between the lucky few that will fight the next battle, and go onwards.
Either you write a plot that allows you to experiment with "more battles" and "map painting", or you add map painting as a window dressing (your army's progress is shown on a map after each battle, to give you a sense of scale and geographical position).
I do have an idea on how to give a sense of urgency while also giving you more options, characters and battles, and also "paint the map the color of your country" in such a way that works with FE, and I might write about it here once I get home.
>total war
dying franchise
And?
Just because they produce stale shit year after year doesn't mean people didn't like any of their games before
I don't like any of their games and just used it as an example anyway
>best tactical and RPG game ever.
Wrong pic anon
Is it actually better than the reboot? Ive only played one from the late 90s and the reboots
Modded OpenXcom is absolutely better than XCOM, but actual X-COM is... well I suppose it could be better if it resonates with you well enough.
Much better than the mobashit they turned the series into. The reboots are a joke.
Despite being similar in concept, the reboots are just different in scope and goal. If you haven't played the og before, I would try xenonauts instead, as it's basically a modern UI for the original.
not strategy weeb homosexual frick off

>Let's talk about the best tactical and RPG game ever.
But there's already a Troubleshooter thread
Edlegard was right
Sex with Edelgard
>tfw the best ending requires you to give anal correction to fantasy hitler:
That's wrong because good endings involve her death.
you can only recruit Seteth, Hilda, and Flayn in the good endings
>Seteth
>Flayn
>good
NO LMAO!
Hilda, on the other hand, is waifu material.
Edelgard is BUILT for correction:
> SMOL
> literally has a crush on teacher
> brat
> mommy and daddy issues
> trauma backstory
> dichotomy of her wanting to be as powerful as possible because of how weak and vulnerable she is
BUILT for correction
Edelgard is built for soft hugs after intensely buck-breaking her for 3 hours straight.
Edelgard is built for correction and post correction aftercare
I got super into the series during the pandemic. I beat Genealogy, binding blade, blazing blade, sacred stones, path of radiance, shadow dragon, new mystery, awakening, conquest, shadow of valentia, and 3 houses. within the span of two years. Burned myself out a bit with the series by the time engage came out, was enjoying what i played but stopped half way through.
Reminder that Tharja sucks.
She can use Nosferatu in a game with buyable Nosferatu and has pretty good magic, speed and defence growths. I don't like her character or aesthetics, but as a stat blob she's good.
I played Three Houses during covid and enjoyed it a lot, then tried a bunch of the other ones and proceed to not really like any of them, and then a new one came out and the art style was so bad I didn't bother.
I fricking loved 3 houses. Having permadeath threaten characters you like was a great way to make a mid game high tier.
Engage completely lost that with the shittiest dialogue since the first Resident Evil. You made the right call, it was laughably bad.
Sadly I hear the other games are all like engage.
>Advertisement for a gacha game in the game
>Rosado
>Pre-selling DLC
>Sadly I hear the other games are all like engage.
I played through two routes of Fates, like half of Sacred Stones, and a bit of Echoes and while I did not particularly like any of them, it was as much for gameplay as story reasons
Fire Emblem hasn't been good since New Mystery killed the franchise.
>New Mystery killed the franchise
Do you have proof?
FE12-FE17
Unironically this is true since it brought back avatars.
I know this is bait, but i'll bite... Entertain me, anon.
>random crits
>shooting through walls
>enemies appear right behind you and go first
>etc
Indeed, here's a better Fire Emblem game that's actually a strategy game.
Is there any patch to make its resolution higher than 480p?
I can't play it without going blind even on 1080p monitor
Skill Issue. Buy a CRT, zoomoid.
If it needs crt and/or other useless parts from the last millennium then i am out
Enjoy your brainrot
As someone who likes both old and new Fire Emblem games (My overall favorite has to be Path of Radiance) I think Engage has to be the worst one I ever played along with the Shadow Dragon remake (I never played Revelations in case you're wondering)
What character do you consider overrated.
