Selkie/Hinoka might have a Trace to reposition the other units closer but generally yeah you've got the right idea.
Anon guessed right, I usually just exploit Selkie's near trace to trap the ranged enemy, but before canto became inheritable I just used to let them attack one of my units. I plan on giving guidance 4 to Hinoka whenever R!Tana comes back, that should make things even easier.

I used to struggle just trying to clear these things normally, at least until I got stronger units (and now my go to team for clearing these things is just the CYL6 squad), so seeing those kinda fun clears, both yours and the Haar anons, just made me wonder how the hell it was done, but now I see
LHBs/MHBs should follow Fomortiis/Gotoh's example and put units on opposite sides of the map so you can't just make them all suicide into 1 spot.

Am I hearing you want a colorless Calvary Sothis unit? Jk but I want that to be a thing so she can have every breath and every move type. She also would have good sustain since every alt has her with her Prf special. Currently with how IS has been going with her Alts/refines the next Sothis (assuming she is calvary) would have:

>DR (possibly akin to Dragon's Wrath)
>Self healing during or after combat
This would make her a decent calvary auto battle unit.

Probably either Guard Bearing 4, Seal Def 4, WoM4 or ER4. There's a lot of good B options to choose from these days, I don't think there's really a single "correct" choice.

It's either a dual phase Brave Axe, kinda like with Haar, maybe add some decent effects here or there (10% Atk true damage, nullify some debuffs or foe debuffs or whatever), then call it a day
Or it's just a completely different weapon, since like, didn't Valbar get an entirely new weapon despite also coming with a Brave Lance?
I think I would prefer if they went with the brave axe, because new prfs for demotes are usually just a potpurri of shit effects like +8 to all stats, guard, healing and nullifying debuffs, and MAYBE 30% reduction on the first attack

She's so stupidly fast(50 base speed at +50 and effective +17 speed on the weapon) she can probably still outspeed most stuff even while using the NFU seal. Or she can get it from an ally.

IMO I think it is for the best not every busted or powerful unit have NFU on top of powerful skills all baked into their weapon. And anyway inf. I just realized a pattern with OC characters and summer banners based on what book they were introduced in.
Book 1 OCs - No summer alts
Book 2 OCs - Gunnthra, Ylgr, Laegjarn, Laevatein and Helbindi (Summer 2019) While Book 3 was ongoing
Book 3 OCs - No summer alts
Book 4 OCs - Freyja, Freyr, and Plumeria if you count her being a cheerleader for Caeda (Summer 2021) While Book 5 was ongoing
Book 5 OCs- No summer alts
Plus all these banners where in July except for the Book 2 OCs but looking at this a summer alt for Askr, Embla, Ash, Elm, or Letizia might happen this upcoming banner well in theory anyway.
Also for Loki, Thorr, and Nifl while they do have summer alts from last year they were not introduced during the main story of a book. Loki was introduced in a xenolouge. Thorr was introduced in the first Rokkr Siege event and Nifl was introduced during the Tempest Trial extended story for book 2.
oh yeah I should probably mention that there was a leak about the TT banner. Tharja, Ymir and Donnel, in that order.
The duo/harmo is usually the first two units on the TT banner (last time it was Shamir/Catherine with Shez, before that it was Tiki/Tiki with Apotheosis Anna), unless one of the units isn't actually in the game yet, or isn't a unit they'd put on the banner (A legendary, Mythic or seasonal locked unit). My source and I both agree that while the Harmo MIGHT be Tharja/Ymir, it's probably either Thrasir or Hel, because either of those would fit Tharja better than Ymir. It's also possible that both units of the Harmonic are units they wouldn't put on a TT banner, so yeah.

Tiki and Altina both already did that, and Ephraim isn't the only unit who has been a Duo Lead and a Duo backpack, Elise and Lyn have been both too. There's also a few characters who have been in both a Duo and a Harmonized pairing, like Peony and Catria.
Loki was basically a book 2 villain, and Thorr appeared at the end of book 3 before Rokkr Siege IIRC.

Admittedly Reinhardt got me to play Thracia (and by extension, Holy War), but I had a really fun time with all of it

So I guess whenever I get around to those I can see if Tiki's really as strong as FEH suggests, and that Marth will slay any dragon (and possibly buff up his allies too?)

yeah she can basically solo medeus with base stats in FE1/FE3 IIRC, similar to Julia with Divine Naga in FE4. The entire reason both of them exist is to be an easy way to beat the final boss if the rest of your team exists.

Tiki was a surprise to me when I played FE3 way back when. The transformation mechanics and the various stones just make her a really fun and unique unit, more than other dragon units in the series I feel like. Engage felt the closest to trying to represent that than FEH honestly. Meanwhile I remember Marth more for being the Lord that's halfway to being a Thief once he gets the Fire Emblem.
Seliph got me to play 4, and he ended up a lot like he did in 4.
Serra got me to try 7, and I regret not using her until the end of that run.
Sophia got me to try 6, and she is the exact opposite of how she is in FEH, but she turned out amazing in my run.

Surprising to hear. She's my favorite character, but I feel like her FEH representation wouldn't leave much of an impact on someone who never played her game since her art is so-so and her Resplendent is better, but still not particularly top notch. And it's not like she's a strong unit or anything either.
In early FEH, when characters could have multiple builds types of builds, an Absorb staff seemed like something fun to play around with, and she had the best stat line as it as a 3-4*. She was really fun to use for a while, and I still use that basic ass absorb staff build in TT grinding because even if she attacks she can heal her team.
It helps that I'm not picky with art, thought it looked good, and her VA did a fine job with the timing of her lines that I got curious to what she was like in FE7. Ended up using a BW forma on another anon's Serra to use her again.
I had already beaten them by the time feh came out, but when I played Awakening, Olwen on the SpotPass teams got me to play fe5. Now I have both Olwens +10

Wow that's a lot of stat checks. Let me try to parse this:
>Enemy atk is higher than 50 = +5 atk/def/res in combat PLUS 15% true damage off enemy's atk
>Enemy spd is higher than 35 = auto followup
>Enemy HP is higher than 50 = spectrum +5 in combat
>Enemy has slaying effect (any special cooldown reduction) = -1 special CD before first attack (like Y!Ike kinda)
All these effects also proc if the enemy has a penalty active
>Enemy Def OR Res is higher than 35 (or Bonus on enemy) = DR equal to higher of the enemy's defensive stats
I get the theming here, but I'm not a fan of the DR requirement. Most nukes dump their defensive stats, so he won't get any help against them.
The other effects are kinda neat though, especially the "me first" special cooldown vs. enemies with slaying (all of them)

That's a good refine for Gerik. I'm pretty happy with that refine. Funnily my Marisa can't get the full benefits and Ewan's one effect of many in that jumbled prf is fricked but I still got the Arcane tome. Time to make Tethys give Defensive buffs in place.
So I just checked to make sure and besides the turn 1 pulse Gerik can give all allies Null panic, neutralize penalties, and +6 atk/spd anywhere on the map as long as their HP is lower than his. It also seems he will always have those effects active which kind of makes the Atk/Spd menace I gave him somewhat redundant.

Spd/res ideal and atk/res rein
Ashnard basically got a buff due to rein being available as a seal now. Now if you use him as save bait he can effectively reduce an enemies atk by -13 atk, -9 def, and -4 res. Combo with someone like Formortiis and you'll get hit by -29 atk, -25 def, and -4 res while in combat.
Halloween F Grima Serenity Breath+, Dragonscale, Dragon's Ire 4, and two Atk/Res Reins means you debuff your foe for -23 Atk/Res, which sounds fun

Ugly meme unit like Gatekeeper that was shilled by ugly secondary trannies on Serenesforest, Reddit, and Tumblr when it had porn for being "overpowered Awakening unit." This is why the dude has like 10,000 votes in CYL1 over half a decade ago. Time went on and three garbage Aptitude units later in three different titles, and most people agree these days they're fairly shit, including Donnel. Now he's getting an alt with garbage skills and no prf weapon over every other Awakening and Engage character. For comparison, Summer Male Shez has a prf brave and Fallen Linus was added to the Use Heroic Grails shop and it hasn't been 24 hours when he was added before they released Donnel's stats and skills.
Mozu and Cyril are only shit if you keep them in their starting class, outside of that they are above average and if you want to funnel resources into them they can be strong.
Cyril is good not because of Aptitude, but because he can get some good arts early like PBV and vengeance and he has a fairly easy path to the best class in the game.

They score the same as they would if they were in their normal respective slot. For the seal exclusive ones, DC is 300, HP+5 & 2 Stats +3 are 240, Phantom/Hardy Bearing/Deflect are 200, Quickened Pulse is 100.

I'm currently trying to build Rearmed Grima and Halloween Rhea. Technically Grima sits at +3 currently but I'm sitting on 3 more merges until I find worthy units to inherit to which will mean I need 4 more copies. H!Rhea sits also at a pathetic +3 merges but may Sothis help me with 7 more copies especially since I haven't been saving much atm.
On skills though Grima is packed to the brim with rare dragon fodder and some armored skills. Rhea though has her base kit mostly. I plan to give her dragon scowl once she is +10. My biggest gripe is that she missed out on her own Prf B skill true dragon wall which she will never receive unless tacked on in her refine years later so I'll have to settle for DW4 once that appears.
Probably going bankrupt on Halloween Myrrh/Mia's banner. Want to +10 both of them. Currently +4 Myrrh and +2 Mia.
Well hopefully you gain them both and random 4* special seasonal units on your way to your merges. I have only normal pool units to look forward to since Rhea's banner is too new for it. IS really should have added year 1-2 seasonal units as 4* specials on all seasonal banners though.
Got the last B!Chrom merge through divine codes last month and now I'm just waiting for L!Hinoka's rerun, she's only +1 but I should have around 1900 orbs when she comes back.
Based on past experience with b8% banners it probably won't be enough, but who knows. I'm more worried about the other red units being uninteresting.

My maxed out Seteth (+Atk +Spd, fully merged and flowers) is weaker and slower than my +1 Shez, it's kinda nonsense
Then after that, Murdock seems cool, they threw Binding Blade a bone by giving out a pretty good axe armour unit with a prf, and even though it's simple (just a stat swing, DC, and a follow-up attack), it's still better than the twenty thousand Atk/Def axes littering the game, one of which we just got in the new TT
Now I know where my feathers will go, I'm probably set for the next while, unless they release even more actually good free units in the next few months

Seasonals only appear on double special, and then on their own banner rerun. IS used to put them on 8% banners but they don't do that anymore.

I forget the average amount of Orbs it takes for double special heroes.
If you don't have the pass, rates are pretty much the same, however on double special instead of random pity breakers you can only get the other focus units, so it's better than the regular rerun if the colorsharing unit has good fodder or if you just like them.
If you do have the pass, waiting for the regular rerun to +10 a 5* exclusive can save you 100~200 orbs depending on how often you get pitybroken.

If you're patient enough, you could wait a few years for the rate to be increased to 4%.
if you have Feh Pass and you're planning to +10, the debut banner is better. double special doesn't have focus charge. even if focus charge doesn't come into play (it will if you're rolling 10 + 1 Spark copies) then the fact that it's available makes it better. At most, save 1-2 copies for DSH, because with Feh Pass you can still spark on DSH.

Ymir Mia Nowi Amelia. I used to use Serra instead of Amelia for TT, but we've had a lot of strong blue bosses lately so I needed a decent green to handle things that Mia can't kill.
The usual: Nowi, Fae and Nah with a bonus unit, in this case vanilla Ymir. I always play Lunatic 7 first for the points boost then auto Hard 5 for the rest of the event.
Ymir plus my usual lineup of Fomortiis, F!Rhea and F!Edel. Autoing through the hardest difficulty without a problem.

commendable, and I agree. the fairies felt a bit more fleshed out compared to book 2/3 characters. Book 2 was partly because they just had so fricking many that it was hard to show much of everyone.
Perhaps book 4 TT will give her a new alt, but I expect it to be like the previous 2 TT so she will probably get passed up in favor of Triandra, and 2 new OCs. Oddly enough at the start of this one we already have more previous characters than the last two which just involved 4.

Man, the only thing that makes Bector unique at this point is the armor weakness negation. Even neutralizing penalties isn't that big of a deal anymore. In fact, if you're using LMRobin, it's kind of a negative.
Frankly it's about time he started hitting the wall. That said, negating armor effectiveness is still a fricking cracked effect and probably the reason Svalin Shield will never become a seal

This banner seems weird for me as well. Wanted just a copy of Fjorm/Eir, but didn't get them for a while until near, or past spark. Then after impulse rolling I got 4 Fjorms in around 50 orbs. It's super tempting to finish her now.

you might as well go for it if you have nothing else big planned. who knows, maybe you will actually come to like Fjorm, and have a new character you want to build? Combat effectiveness is the biggest reason people tend to bond with a character.
As far as I have gathered from other people talking about them, other gacha get a bit less characters a month, but at the same time people constantly complain there isn't enough so it is hard to tell.
a quick glance at FGO seems to show they get around 2 banners/8 characters a month from banners, but FEH tends to have GHB units/TT, and sometimes instant demotes which leads to around 10-12 characters a month. I might be reading the FGO part, the banner art shows 4 characters on some, and then 1-2 characters on another.
It is also worth note that some people still complain a character they want isn't in after years, and GHB is a good way to get minor villains in that some players might remember fondly, and wouldn't ever get in otherwise.

My problem with so many characters so fast is that there are so many that just look the same. I'd rather get less units a month if it meant it would lead to more variety in unit performance. Taking infantry swords for example, Lucia is the only recent one that's actually kind of unique and maybe Fallen Byleth. Every other sword infantry with a Prf is difficult to differentiate even from a generic Arcane Devourer build.
The issue isn't necessarily the amount of units, but rather the current skills that are in game leading towards units being played the exact same. 90% of old units with shit/no prf rely on Arcane weapons which are generally designed for 1 build type. For a long while we had a decent variety of units build even with the unit rate. builds were more dependent on the statline of the unit High attack/Defense could be build for either phase, and still go all offensive with stuff like brave weapons. Now with all the DR everywhere, especially speed based DR, They can't go offensive anymore because there is just so much fricking stackable DR, but at the same time defensive units tend to not be as effective, especially if they aren't armored and can't use save skills. DR was a massive fricking mistake, and should have just been saved for the very rare few occasions like Divine Tyrfing on a unit with 17 base res, or the anti-brave weapon seals.
TL:DR
The unit amount isn't the issue, but the current skills/arcane weapons severely limit viability of unit playstyles by making them complete shit in relation to meta builds in every way.

Did we? Even back in year 1 mages that weren't named Reinhardt or Julia all just ran a bladetome or a raventome, Armors just ran DC+QR(and later fighter skills), archers ran either brave or firesweep, and so on.
There's always going to be a few meta builds that people will gravitate towards because they play to win.
I would say we had a larger variety, or at least the gap between meta, and alternative builds wasn't as big as they are now. You could run blade tome, and 1 shot everything, but some units could also run Raven tome, or Owl, Serpent tome, on rarer occasions a Wolf tome, and be built as a defensive unit, or be built for a specific phase. Hell, people used to run stuff like Berkut's lance/barrier blade. Compared to every godsword I see that is built/played the same, and is good in both phases, and is a tank because a frick ton of DR, and does damage, and can counter at any range, etc. The builds might differentiate more in the future with the introduction of more arcane weapons, but it's likely that those arcane weapons will just powercreep older arcane weapons and become the new dominant playstyle rather than be introduced quickly and allow for alternate builds.
Pic related is a slight example. Most of them use the same weapons, but are designed to be played differently, and work in different phases in different ways. There were mostly all from different players building Seliph way back in the day.
TL:DR
There were dominant builds back in the day, yes, but not as dominant as certain builds are now, and the gap of effectiveness between meta/alternate builds wasn't as wide.

I don't speak use nip VAs, but In terms of FEH voices, Taylor Henry seems to have a good range, and is one of the VA's that have the energy in their specials to sound like they are actually in combat.
I remember the English VA for Ylgr on release was getting panned a bit because she sounded like was just reading off a paper. certainly nailed the bored little girl aspect a bit too well.
Cam Clarke is always fun.

Wendee lee has been doing the faye valentine voice for more than 20 goddamn years for fricking everything and needs to be stopped.
I don't know much about her career history, but it's possible she either doesn't have much range, or perhaps just VAing for so long has stressed her vocal cords enough that she can't do other voices.
IIRC there are several voice actors that can't do certain characters anymore because the voice gets harder to put on. I think Mark Hamil's Joker is an example of that.
She's in her 60s she's been VA'ing since the 80s.
Muspell's english VA has been an extremely odd choice. If I'm not wrong, his JP voice is much more akin to a frightening yakuza boss, but he sounds like an annoying brat in english. Positively, Iago, Zephiel, and Lyon's english VA's are all a treat to hear. Extremely emotive and capture their roles well.
To be fair she's gotten plenty of love before and is tied with the other fairies for number of alts barring Mirabilis who only has her christmas outfit. I'm positive us Plumbros will eat well one of these days, whether soon or later.

Just an illustrator for a variety of novels, Grancrest Senki and Regios got anime adaptations but I wasn't super familiar with the series themselves. I had seen their art around over the years and the style was pretty distinct so by the time FEH rolled around it was pretty easy to spot.

The scariest thing about Byleth to me is her Lull all. My answer to most modern threats is to just superbuff myself, but her keeping me from getting a free 12 Atk/Spd/Def is annoying.
Kinda. Stats mean frick all in 2023, the only one that actually completely outclasses her is Fir. Felix is somewhat similar, but he doesn't have the post-combat half Special Spiral/TP4 effect, but he's more built to use GLR while Mareeta/Fir are both built to use Vital Astra. Byleth, meanwhile, is more of a wall than a tank, since she's got built in Bulwark and Spd Pre-empt. Fjorm is also built to use a defensive special like Felix (but her's is a super special prf defensive special that only has 2 cooldown instead of 3 AND she has Slaying AND she comes with TP4) and Lucia doesn't use specials at all.
So Fir aside, all of the "Godswords" are actually quite different from Mareeta, despite all being atk/def focused red melee infantry units.
Well, I tried. Fomortiis and Guinivere are both stuck at +8. I've run out orbs. Unless someone wants to buy me the Pass.

I don't summon on seasonal banners most of the time, so those are the weeks I end up having to trot out the Askr brats.
Decided to bite the bullet and give them arcanes to make getting kills less painful.
I have all 3 of them with TA/breaker and they still struggle against things they have color advantage

It's odd that Arena defense is something people tryhard for. It's just 900 feathers a week. Use a meme team or some shit.
I personally just have a solo unit as my defense and still get some wins every week for 300 feathers. It's not a big deal to me missing out on the extra possible 600 feathers each week.

Anybody that's rolled for summer Ymir happy with her performance? I feel like she wouldn't be all that great despite initial reactions.
Haven't really had any good place to test her out. She's fairly sturdy, but many things can still kill her. if you have base Ymir you might not really need this one. They operate slightly differently, but kind of fulfill the same duty, and most people just want Ymir for her C skill AFAIK. F Maria also does the same thing to a degree, but can directly heal, and her miracle effect from the staff actually sets the ally to full hp so in many situations might be better. Also in order to get max effect from her PRF she needs 60 hp, and only reaches that when decked out with an HP boon, and HP seal.
She is cute, has a cuter backpack and has a cute animation however.

Yeah, I feel like both her versions would be better if she focused on high spd with NFU rather than low spd and high def/res since that just makes it easy for a unit to put her to 1 HP, then perform a follow-up attack to kill her.
Isn't regular Ymir's whole thing that she can actually purge debuffs and negative statuses (including Isolation), and can potentially chain those heals if her allies use their movement Assists too?
While Summer Ymir, idk, she just seems like a typical bulky mage to me
I think she's fine, but she got overshadowed by Fjorm (godsword with a unique special), and Ivy(First engage unit since they got introduced into the game+ breasts)
Doesn't help that Brammimond(another bulky colorless mage) just got a refine and remix+ Celine and Guinevere do the healing thing better than her duo skill

My old seliph was able to tank 95% of mages once he got Divine trying. I think he only struggled with some ophelias.
It probably won't work as well now with all the Dr pierce and powercreep.
Reinhardt uno reverses with Remote Sparrow(Mirror) and Brash Assault 4. Survives their subpar attack by reducing it by nearly 50% and doubles them if they aren't running Null follow-up. Imagine getting caught lacking by believing your a Godsword by a man with tiny hands and no refine.
the few swords with no NFU and no double blocking are still going to get it from infantry nfu or infantry spe tactic
there are also several dancers that can give it I think. Doesn't young Lucius also give NFU?

Nagi is only really good at max investment. Her base kit is serviceable but won't hold up too well in any competitive mode on its own.

You'll probably want to test that defense out with a mock team before deciding to do that for a blessing season. You might find out your defense falls apart due to enemy blessing buffs.
I really wonder if the next set of CYL Heroes (which we'll be getting next month) are gonna be as fun to use as last year's, who I still use to clear content to this day, and probably still will for however long
But I feel like this year's Brave Heroes gonna be all mages (and one dragon), is the thing

Of all the Brave Heroes in the game right now, which group is your favourite? In terms of designs, gameplay, you like their characters, anything at all
CYL does a decent job at keeping weapons mostly distinct. I think it has only doubled up on magic twice in all the CYL. My guess is Levin Sword Robin, Tome Gullveig, dagger Soren, and Corrin is the most versatile as she can dress as her mom for a staff, Camilla/dad for an axe, Xander as a sword unit, or her dad as a dragon. I hope it's not the last one. I know he will never win, but I always hoped Mamui would win and get dressed as Anankos, that outfit is cool There are certainly other possibilities for other characters as well.

The only CYL group of characters I used decently are CYL 1, and Vero in CYL. Brave Roy/Lyn were great, and Vero was also busted at the time and saw heavy use. They would have to be my favorite for gameplay, but Vero might be the favorite for design as Kozaki puts a little effort into drawing her aged up each time and it is honestly fun to see her grow.
For the time 1 had great distinct units that all had their own roles that were well worth using and I love 5 for Marth and the attempt at more fun gimmicks for the units. I'd like to say 6 because Tiki has always been one of my favorites and I wanted to like Seliph but I'm not much of a fan of melee cavalry and just found them kind of annoying to face, Byleth might have ended up the most nonexistant Brave unit for me, and I just don't have much of a reason to use Brave Tiki with the other ones that have come out, I'm overloaded with dragons.
As a whole, I think CYL1 was the best one too, if you had all 4 of them, they felt like a fully functioning rpg party, with a nigh-unkillable tank in Ike, a crazy melee galeforcer in Roy, Lyn was the best ranged attacker around, and Lucina offered some unparalleled support at the time. Roy was my favorite CYL unit for a long time, but the only one I ever +10'd was Marianne the only unit I've ever saved over 1000 orbs for, imagine the kick in the face when they revealed her art, frick kusokihara, but I'm close to maxing out Dimitri as well.
Should I fodder my +Atk Anankos to BK for his B skill or should I keep it?
I find Anankos fairly useful, but if you aren't going to use him, and do use BK a lot then you might as well.
Keep whichever one is faster, since that's a skill that requires high Spd

Did anyone else have trouble in the boss room 5 in the Seer's Snare? The Halloween Corrins gave me a ton of trouble and had I not had a firesweep esque weapon my units would of all suicided on initiation.
Not really. Just parked Ylgr and called it a day.
Sadly I didn't have any true debuff units to greatly lower their stats. I had to resort to hit and run tactics instead and the map had 3 tanky units in duo Duma and both Corrins in which I could only one round Male Corrins the others required attacking them 2-3 attacks.
I've got Reginn with Spd/Def Snag 4 for Sabotage and big debuffs, then I just tank everything with Brave Hector who has every Fighter skill under the sun
They were a tad difficult, but not too hard.
a little tricky to position for the kill, but turns out Mirabilis with guard bearing 4 will consume hits from even insane blue units.

This last SS map looks kinda scary.
My Thea crushed that annoying Yuri and Vero easily. No matter how hard Yuri tried, no matter how many times his special was activated you can't take down a Flying Fortress. I let S!Fjorm obliterate everyone else (except the Tiki duo which was easy prey for Heidr).
Also L!Lyn still worst legendary, shit unit.
I failed one stage because I parked a unit outside enemy range only to get Tempest'd, so I'll have to do the last map tomorrow
Honestly, LMarth/BDimitri/LRobin continues to absolutely rinse any PVE content in this game for me. Robin in particular has been a mistake this game will struggle to recover from.
