I've been going through all the Chain Challenges I've neglected to pour orbs on this banner. I needed a green tome arcane for Nino, Sonya and Triandra are great supports for Yune, having a good supply of X skills will help bolster my main teams, and also I just like the alfr.

My considerations here are the following: Zihark isn't quite as strong as many other godswords, so the comparatively higher damage on offer from vital astra will do a lot for him.
In comparison, the GLR build is more defensive, and will do a better job of future-proofing him against DR piercing shit (Checking out the duel simulator, the only thing this currently makes a difference for are things with precharged lethality/deadeye, if it happens to match up with when GLR would proc), but he has more trouble taking down tankier foes.
glr is better for devourer. if your special is charged you do 15% spe as damage with each hit. two hits and it's equal to va, and it most likely didn't even uncharge itself
Well, you get a little bit more damage off of VA because of spurn in this case, but yeah, I see what you mean
The relative consistency of VA is definitely something that appeals to me as well. But it is hard to judge these things in a vacuum like this. It should be fairly easy to keep GLR charged once I initiate combat once from what I can tell, but VA being always on excepting the case of DR piercing definitely has its appeal.
For what it's worth, doesn't Spurn 4 also work with Godlike Reflexes now too? Since Summer Fjorm introduced it with her own defensive Special and all.
Huh, I guess it must right? Looking at it, it appears to be a specific rider added onto spurn 4 that allows it to activate off of skills that activate on enemy's attacks. That is something to consider, albeit it will be somewhat less effective from a fodder perspective.
Let's see
Option 1 is more self sufficient, and it's easier to loop Vital Astra and keep it charged, there aren't too many ways around this at the moment other than Pulse Tie and Timerra's Racket of Solm effect
However, there are also more effects that punch right through the DR that Devourer, Vital Astra, and Spurn all provide, essentially making it so that there were no such effects at all
Option 2 is more defensive in that regard, because there aren't as many effects that can break through defensive Specials (it's really just Legendary Nanna and Spring Karla as far as I'm aware)
But, you need a way to charge GLR, and keep it looped
Shield Pulse can help, but then you lose out on more DR from Close Call
You can initiate combat first, the weapon's Special accel charges GLR, then you get [Dodge] from Spd Smoke as well, I'm sure that's the intention, but then you also have to watch out for Guard effects since that would deter you from (re)charging GLR after atacking
I'd say, if you're certain you're able to keep GLR looped and nothing can deter its charges, go with Option 2, otherwise Option 1
What I don't like about Attuned Heroes is that it's not clear who should be getting these alts. With Ascended and Rearmed Heroes, they each had a clear niche (characters who went through an arc but weren't exactly legendary hero material and corrupted heroes), but that didn't stop them from just giving alts to dev favorites while ignoring what they were supposed to be, but at least they followed the patterns for the nost part. Attuned Heroes on the other hand are not as clear, like, who are the potential attuned heroes per game?

Characters that can share their powers or have a strong bond with someone else, maybe?
I can see Emblem versions of the lords being attuned heroes because of this.

Honestly, no, her Spd is in that awkward middle where it's not so low that the rest of her stats are min maxed, and it's not high enough to outspeed anything worthwhile (as anything slower would already have a ton of DR and/or follow-up denial)

Oh yeah, he did great. The only time I failed a map was when somebody a/s oath'd their way into my backlines. No problems keeping GLR looped at all, as soon as it was active, it was always active the entire map. He was able to pretty soundly defeat anything that he was allowed to counter attack, though I imagine the arena bonus helped with that somewhat.
We've got Vengeful Fighter 4, but what would a theoretical Bold Fighter 4 do?
Given how it's a purely player phase skill when all armours have become enemy phase tanks (unless you're named Edelgard, even then she can just perform on either phase), it'd have to do a lot to make its usage worthwhile

I kind of feel like Special Spiral 4 might be good on Brave Corrin. You'd have to give up the damage reflection and healing but in exchange you can keep Armored Floe looped and you can pierce through opposing DR.

The dance skill is underrated IMO. giving your dancer canto, and having them be able to grand dodge on top of a stat bonus is nice.

Frick, Hector stopped being a problem as soon as skill inheritance became a thing, and there are plenty of other insta-charge AoE morons who shit on ophelia as well.
They are really scared shitless of the silliest things. The refined versions of these characters wouldn't even be good if they just went with the basic b***h expansion of their existing talents. Hector would have to truly be given some ridiculous sauce to even approach relevance in the modern era.

Probably give them an additional prf skill that simply boosts their stats so they could have modern gen stats. Alfred and Rearmed Sonya essentially have that plus some extra bullshit so you could do something similar for the CYL units.
The ideal would probably be just outright boost their BST but IS has never done that. They don't even do that for the Askr Trio, and they're still regularly included as bonus units in Arena and AR.

I left out Alarm Atk/Spd since Canto is on her exclusive B skill which I'm not sure if I'd ever truly drop since it's also where her NFU comes from. If Cavs could one day get NFU in their seal slot, then sure, I'd actually consider doing a Gambit/Alarm/NFU(Cav) combo over using her exclusive B skill.

Prf skills for the Prf skill-less units. Luckily, this can be used with Prf weapons unlike Rearmed weapons unable to be used with Prf skills.
So it helps, but it sucks that it once again stretches the gap between whales and the laymen. There's no way you'll have the orbs for the latest and greatest. Not only do you need the best skills, now you need to look out for the latest and greatest X skill.

Would it be a good idea to farm Favor in SD on the weekends when Turmoil is one of the Captain skills? Unless I'm mistaken, you could just get your free point on turn 2 from your Captain's extra scoring and then surrender since you're over 0 points, qualifying you for the +10 Favor weekend bonus for 11 Favor on the second turn of every fight.
You could also just let it auto during weekends while you do other stuff, regardless of current captain skills, your team might even score some victories here and there while autoing.

I'm sometimes surprised by my random bursts of luck sometimes. I've pulled 3 Peonys and an Ascended Hilda on my way to spark and all within the first 40 summons.
Very nice, I was graced by satisfying luck during my first spark as well, got Peony, Mycen, 2 Felix and one A!Celica along the way to spark Sonya. Only way it could end even better for me was getting a Triandra along the way, unfortunately she didn't show up, which forced me to go for the second spark and well, that one wasn't as good, just one Sonya along the way.
Damn getting 5 5* heroes before spark is amazing luck. I typically get unlucky most of the time where I only receive the spark and if I'm fortunate 1 5* hero but they are off-banner most of the time.

Powercreep has become an issue so much that, in a way, it's actually beneficial as new players can jump right in and start doing fairly well if they just roll on some of the newer banners.
Get into your head that +1 units are all you'll need most of the time (with the exception of Arena, where you should be building legendaries in that case)

I have a +10 Julius for the next season when I'm already at Tier 21 and it's wind season, my autism/pride will force me to at least try to stay in Tier 21 again. I can only hope that Julius can at least deal with units like Duo Dagr and N!F!Corrin for the score bonus.

Hello, if I want to maximize the resplendents I get, the correct time to sub is tonight before reset, right?
You're always guaranteed 3 resplendents, but you can get 4 on Android by using a prepaid card and having insufficient credit when the subscription renews.
Buy the pass 5-10 minutes before reset, do not manually cancel the subscription, and make sure there's not enough money on your card to renew it after 30 days. Then, the day the fourth resplendent is released you should have a couple hours after reset to claim it and get the pass quest rewards.
I've read that it's also possible to do it by removing your card from google play payment methods and switching to google play balance after buying the pass, but I've never tried it personally.

Yes, just tested trying to merge my +10 Hilda (fe4) into a +0 Hilda and in the preview screen it showed the result would be a +10 Hilda. I know the feeling. Post your +10s you want to use, but are too outdated and don't have the will or means to modernize them.
If I free rolled a R!Grima, I'd give him Arcane Grima + hardy fighter in a heartbeat.
But spending orbs to make him slightly better just to use him in LHBs feels like a waste.
One of many. There's a bunch of old +10s of favorites that I want to use but the amount of investment just for them to still suck compared to a +0 new powercreep unit kills any interest in committing to it. Also f2p demotes never getting any good fodder to make cheap builds sucks too.
Surprisingly competent. It maxes out at close to 90% DR if all the conditions are met. Still needs to worry about units with DR piercing or Diamant though.

as a f2p im so happy they put the rearmed ophelia in the banner. are there other rearms that are good? because from what ive seen most of them just seem okay.
On this banner? Arcane grima is a good weapon, and rearmed grima robin is generically good on top of that.
On the banner, Grima is decent, she'll get the job done if you need a melee tank, and her weapon is very generalist for any dragon, but since there aren't really many good dragon inheritables, it's the best they've got
Ganglot is... eh, as a unit she's outperformed by whichever +10 axe infantry you've merged up to inherit her axe to begin with, and even then said axe is just serviceable
As for them in general, they range from meh to actually pretty good, the meh ones being the ones without prf skills (so, Ganglot lol)
Ophelia does also get outdone by any +10 red mage infantry you've built up since she also has no prf either, but since she doesn't leave after foddering her, she CAN still contribute to a fight since you can just field her to smash through an opposing unit's DR

It is something you really have to focus on. You'll be able to build up random 3-4* pool shitters up to +10 over time, and grail units give you something with more guaranteed returns to invest into. Otherwise you are probably just gonna have to save up a bunch of orbs to +10 a premium unit. I believe the median amount of orbs for +10ing a unit is somewhere around 1500, which sounds like an absurd amount, but you should also be getting about 300 orbs a month, if you are doing all the content.
You don't really need to +10 units unless you want to rank high in pvp stuff, or if the unit is super old. premium units can get by with +1, or even just a +0 with decent IVs. If the player is new then it's best they just get a bunch of different premium units rather than save up 5 months to +10 one that will get powercrept in a month.
The only benefit to +10 is some +4 to all stats.
Ultimately, patience
Merging up Grail units just requires you to do PvP stuff enough for the Grails, but you are guaranteed to get a few free copies and you always have access to more
Merging up 4* units is much dumber than it has every right to be, like it took me months before I could max out Shez because there's a bunch of other, much lamer green units that show up instead
Merging up 5* exclusive units is just about waiting until their respective banners to appear (or again) and saving up whatever you've got for it
It also depends on what kinda unit you're going for, like Brave units are good merge projects because they always get rerun on some kinda Hero Fest around annivs; I was able to +10 my Brave Claude through those, for instance
Having a strong attachment to characters before getting into the game helps.

Idk if you're talking about 5* exclusives only, because those take patience and discipline to save orbs for them, there's not much besides that you can do.
When it comes to 3-4* or grails its easier, the game will naturally bombard you those 3-4* as you summon for fodder you need or for characters you want, with grails it's just a matter of hoarding them, I just float in t20 AR and slowly build my grail collection, there are also other sources for grails but AR is more consistent I guess, what also helps is that when a character releases in the grail shop, don't go for the +10 straight away, go for +9 and wait for a rerun to get the final merge, I guess you could even go for +8 and get the two last merges on reruns, that helps with saving grails since a unit gets consistently more expensive the more you buy it.

I hate most of the legendary units now that I think of it which is probably why they keep clogging up the new hall of forms.

It seems like everything I have her initiate on, the battle forecast always says "99x2". I wasn't expecting her to be so strong. Getting half your HP back on both phases every time you trigger a 2-charge special while having charge +1 in your kit is ridiculous also. Really hoping for a DC Beast seal in the future.

Saving for Ophelia's other rerun in about two weeks. I managed to get her to +8 with the current Rearmed banner so it shouldn't be too difficult if I manage to hit the spark. Wasn't planning to get her to +10 but I guess that's my goal now.
RIP my +10 L!Dimitri for November though, but that's fine because he'll come back in a couple of months and I can save until then, Ophelia's rerun schedule is a lot more unpredictable and H!FCorrin would've taken a whole year.

A word of advice, if you already have one copy of Alear, it's not really worth it to roll for merges unless you plan on +10ing her.
Getting her to +10 is what I'm aiming for, but her banner dropped so unexpectedly after CYL so I was lacking orbs. Not the mention the awful luck I had on the two banners.
Can anybody tell me how the frick to get a single crown in the Arena? How does scoring work it's been 6 years of me fluctuating between tier 19-20. I just want ONE (1) crown. Then maybe I'll try the flying fortress mode for serious.

I'll tell you what you need but quickly since I hate explaining long things. So to summarize:
>Use High BST units (Duos and Modern units score best)
>Use a Legendary unit and use the appropriate blessing on your other allies
>Use a bonus unit
>Have +10 merges
>Make sure to use tier 4 skills in every slot (skills that need 300 sp to learn; 450 if inherited)
>Have a dual rally skill or rally+ skill if they don't have a unique prepositional skill
>Make sure your S slot has a 240 sp skill in it or Distant counter if you have a dragon.
Following most of this should get you a crown at least once.

god fricking dammit. I might have one or two units to be able to do this. The no positionals is super rough since it seems like everyone can one shot in enemy phase these days. I mean it's not like I don't have the swords to keep trying again. I'll post some things I have later to ask for more input it doesn't seem like an impossible goal but it does feel very difficult to get without whalin.
I'm not a whale (I have spent a bit of money buying pass here and again, but that has little to do with my arena efficacy), but I am up to about 30 crowns myself.
No positioning skills is hard to get used to, but learning to do it does really help with your actual strategic ability.
That said, sometimes you just kind of have to take the L, sooner or later you are gonna run into a chrom duo with a cavalry dancer or some shit and you just kind of have to accept that you are gonna lose that one unless the AI works in your favor.

As a point of reference, Using my arena core (which are admittedly pretty high tier in terms of scoring), and an unmerged legendary, I can get a score of 758, which is enough to get me into 21 quite easily.
Also, don't forget to get a kill with your bonus unit each match.

I want their playstyle to reflect how they turned out in my run with that character. Bors was my best FE6 character, and giving him 15 boots was funny. the triangle attack with knights was also cool. I would want him to get the C skill Summer Edel has so he can charge people, and have some sort of triangle attack mechanic.
I'd like to see a RD Jill alt that also eschews the archer weakness and has a blue tome weakness in its place, but is otherwise a dual phase monster, basically like how she was in her home game
As for units not yet in the game, I'm sure Yunaka will be given all the bells and whistles of a modern unit, she'll probably have tons of DR as a reference to her avoid, and might even come with another Divine Vein or something

Infantry sword ascended Olwen with the Holy Sword. I think the best way to adapt the sword's effects would be slaying brave sword with res based true dmg and true dmg reduction seeing how she got +10 res when she equipped. As for the artist, I have a soft spot for Naruse Uroko who should do a nice job. An alternative would be Niji Hayashi
The character I'm waiting for the most that hasn't made it in yet is probably Yunaka. If she doesn't make it in a regular banner, I think the ninja banner would be a good alternative. I'd like to see Ekao draw her. She could be a terrain setter that gets cooldown acceleration, tempo and dmg reduction when in a terrain tile, considering her personal ability grants her a crit boost when on a terrain tile, and her class archetype doubles terrain avoid bonuses
I'd love to have a flying Setsuna for optimal synergy with L!Hinoka.
Having a prf would also be pretty nice, but considering the past non-royal fates alts, my expectations are low.

her base outfit was always trash the play was use a seal to make her an oni because it was a better model. and had a fun skill after you leveled her as a wyvern lord. in terms of FEH the outfit for N!milla but her hands and feet are so dainty it's somewhat offputting so Brave wins in the art contest.
I'd like to see her moveset be based on Engage. Preferably with something that dispels terrain effects (a la Groundswell).
This month is a Mythic, next month should be double Legendary/Mythic probably with Kvasir and Gullveig, and then December is supposed to be a Green Legendary. You may just get your Legendary Axe Camilla.

My only year 1 units maxed out are Reinhardt and Nino my others are close behind but I'm all out of flowers (infantry) to even give them full stats. I currently need 3600 flowers to finish all my infantry units off. We really need the extra infantry flowers since almost 60% of units in the game are infantry.
I boost the Askr Trio up every DF increase, but Sharena is the only one who has an Arcane weapon and fully T3 skills et and also Floret and Traitfruited. I have an extra Arcane Devourer and Alfonse could try to run a Spd build but it'd mostly be a meme. I could give Anna Petalfall Base, I guess.

I don't bother ever throwing resources into the Askr trio. I instead just team them with some of the best support units in the game to make up for their bad stats. It is far easier and I waste no potential fodder.

I'd roll for Seadall as well. I think whenever they give a skill like that to a seasonal 4*, they almost never give to a more accessible hero. For example, to this day, Special Spiral 3 is most accessible via Ninja M!Corrin despite being an ancient skill. Still, 4* seasonals are a fricking scam, I was also rolling for 2 Seadalls, one to keep and one to fodder, and I got 2 five stars and 0 4 stars in ~150 orbs

I've come to prefer the latter as it feels a bit better to build them up from scratch sometimes, and I can save Orbs for someone else I might want.
Prf since they have a better chance of being actually unique. Building another Devourer sword isn't that exciting. I've learned to settle for +1 outside of absolute favorites, so I don't mind too much about not being able to fully merge every new unit I roll for.
The latter. I like having prfs but there's a real joy in taking a grail unit and finally putting the right skills together. Plus my favorite characters are mostly grail units

I have 4 Atk Oath Echos and 1 Death Blow Echo, but I have no clue who to give them to, largely because I can't decide if I want to give them to my favorites, or units that would make better use of it mechanically. I just don't think Oath warping is all that amazing on 1-range units which is what a lot of my favorites are and I think they should be going to 2-range units instead. Though I'm pretty sure 2 Oath Echos will be going to Serra and Citrinne.

Those first 2 are in almost every Abyssal to be fair.
The only thing that kept me from 1 turning this map was that one firesweep lance Cav. Otherwise I enemy phased all the units first turn but reinforcements came due to the one survivor.

I have mostly dragon units built so that isn't an option. And the resources needed to build a great galeforcing team is out of reach ATM for me.
All of my resources have gone to manaketes and some mages, so I haven't built any melee units at all. I've been considering vanilla Ike since I'm only missing 3 merges, but I don't even roll for arcane swords.
You could build Say'ri's MLG brother. He's got east merges, and a free prf that is more modern than ike.
Speaking of, are they going to refine Amatsu and Pugi? I have a feeling these are gonna be the new Olwen/Reunhardt/Hector/Ophelia/Surtr, since they skipped Osian and they're already done with that banner

For some reason they are STILL scared shitless of refining old dancers and healers, as if they are gonna fricking break something by giving wrys a refine. Even the units who were a problem at the time, like reinhardt or hector are so thoroughly outclassed by modern units that it shouldn't fricking matter.

So for Veyle's prf, none of her stat buffs activate for the Res check when allies are in combat, right? Which means you only get the DR and Guard effects if the foe's Res is at most 41 (excluding your own blue buffs, DFs, boons etc), right? Because if so that's piss weak and most modern nukes probably clear that pretty easily, especially if they're the one initiating
So Veyle's own Res is being checked when providing her C skill's support effect to her allies? I thought it would just be based on the Res of her allies, hence why she's giving them at least +8 (Resonant Shields and +4 Res from the C skill itself).
That would mean that Atk/Res Finish 4 probably isn't ideal and she'd want Still Water instead.

What's worse is that Veyle can't run ploy 4 while most high res nukes can and should, which makes her even more vulnerable and less useful.

Veyle's C skill compares in-combat stats when she's getting attacked, but when it activates for her allies it turns into a visible stat check for both her and the attacker.
It's easy to miss, but the skill description says that the stat check for the drive effect happens "at start of combat".
It is at start of combat so it looks at visible res of veyle vs opponent meaning flowers blue buffs and some A&Seal skills help with the check
Any advice on how to build him?
I was thinking of giving him the S!Dimitri tome from the shop, and going with an attack/spd build with V!Effie's weapon, but I'm now sure how effective that would be.
The other option was to go for an A/D build with Fuga's wind club, but I don't have as much multiphase A/D options to fodder off. Sturdy surge would be the best I can give him, and maybe a menace if I can find one to spare. the issue is that everyone and their mother has NFU in some form now, and I'm not sure how to build him to spam specials on a cav.
I'd just do the Atk/Spd build. Most speedy swords aren't using their maximum Spd options in their A and C slots (usually it's AS Solo/Time's Pulse), so you could close the gap a bit using high Spd skills in those slots.
I don't have that fodder, but can try to snag it down the road.
Currently he will just have to have Dimitri's Atk/spd catch, and spd/def menace. Not sure if I should give him Windsweep, or a spd/def Lull. sweep might be better with Effies weapon.

I'll still get her, she currently has flared sparrow, flow desperation and alarm a/s, I can fodder her one of my ruptured sky since I have a couple to spare, still, it pains me that gambit is evading me as if I were the plage.

Why not Still Water 4? The healing and extra special damage is nice, but it has synergy with Ploy, both skills give +7 atk/res, and you're not getting any awards with that def stat anyway

I get this feeling, you feel safe when you roll until the spark.
I feel the spark mitigates bad rolls in general since it effectively erases bad RNG up until that point. It basically sets in stone that as little as 155 or at most 200 orbs will guarantee the unit you are looking for. Anything past that you can then chalk up to bad RNG on your end.

i doubt the game will last more than 4-5 more years but i don't think it's ending in the next year or two. at the very least, when they do finally end the game, they'll probably finish out the book that they're doing at the time, so EOS won't come outside of November.

That depends on what IS wants/does. If FEH keeps it's current revenue stream, then it can go on indefinitely. FEH is one of the games where it's really only going to die if IS mismanages it. In 4-5 years, maybe the game will finally end if IS continually fricks up and doesn't release another FE mainline for 4 years like 3H to Engage. It isn't likely, or at least shouldn't with the returns FEH still makes, to end anytime soon (1-2 years), but it's hard to say how anything will be in 4-5.
The next book should be the Alfador/Ragnarok plotline they have been slowly building up to for years, technically IS could say "FEH's story is done, It's a good time to EOS", and pull the plug while ahead, but that would be very dumb financially to do.
If it ends in a year or 5 years from now what does it matter? Stop listening to the schizo ravings from vg (why the hell would you give them the time of day), accept that gachas ending isn't the end of the world, and just enjoy the game. Anyways its not like fire emblem is a neglected franchise like it was in the past, considering how much updates and new mechanics this game gets we probably won't be seeing eos anytime soon.

I'm a little sad she's fallen off. Mine used to beat pretty much everything including speedy reds when the most DR they could have was 40%, but now units are getting way too much DR for her to break through. Hopefully either her refine or Vantage 4 will have 50% DR piercing tacked on. It seems they're now refining units that were released 7 months before her, so I'm guessing she'll see her refine by the end of next year.
She'd need to get a really good refine, because right now she's literally just a worse Ninja Cherche.
Ninja Lyn has to be by far my most used old unit, even more with an old fury/desperation build. Just that and 3 dancers when she's at wom range is enough to clear all pve content. I just regret not merging her and using her fodder intead so many times, she'd be at +6 by now.

All 3 variants of A skils should be on the regular poll, clash, finish, catch, solo. Not only makes the 3* poll not useless garbage when you're out of units to merge, but also because no one builds a unit without a 4 A skill. But of course that as it's something that increases the QoL of the game it's never happening unless they find a way to lock it behind the pass.

Well, considering every Muspell royal has been on the ninja banners, there's a very strong possibility that Surtr is gonna be on this one, especially when it seems it's going to be armor themed. Wendy x Ogier duo would be a dream unit for me, but that's a definite never ever

I know nobody cares about SDR and I'm still in the low tiers so I'm matching against people that don't care about the mode either, but still a little cool. I'm guessing you can avoid most of the omega tryhards if you just don't do the event on the first couple days since that's probably when they're all doing it to get their name on the rank 1 leaderboard as fast as possible.
As soon as you hit diamond or plat (I think), you are no longer safe from the rank 1 tryhards

I want IS to start putting built in phantom atk,spd, etc for newer refines please. especially for units with power crept spd that can only rely on spd based damage reduction to be decent. Does that even count as an effect then again IS can make anything into an effect if they wanted to
I kinda want them to experiment more with different follow-up conditions like they did with Diamant. Something like instead of having more speed to double, you have more atk or def, etc.
A more realistic expectation would be more different vantage condition stuff.
i use legend and summer shez, but both of them are kind of overpowered so i bet other people want deflect skills to make a comeback
I'd be more interested in a "brave cancel" effect as long as it doesn't become so popular it invalidates all brave users. Something like a mythic unit's C skill who is otherwise somewhat mediocre would be sufficient. Not a fan of deflect magic and other DR-related patches to things since DR piercing is starting to get too common to fall back on too often.

Your best bet for now though is to just get the free units from the start of each Book, raise them up and have them help you clear all the story maps that you missed and then see how many Orbs you have to work with, and to see what you wanna summon for

Those would be Beast units, that was the last major new weapon type of unit that was introduced I think
Their whole thing is that they transform and become stronger when next to other demihumans (other Beasts, but Dragons count too) or next to no ally, though there are now skills that remove this condition so that part's a bit pointless now and are just alternatives to melee units
If you're returning from halfway through Book 2, it's more than likely that all of your units are pretty much, no offense, trash, in both terms of stats and skills to inherit. The game nowadays is completely different to how it used to be and units are powercrept in just a matter of months. You're better just checking what are the better units at the moment and roll for them so you can build a better team to tackle the missions.
I'll tell you real quick if you stopped playing in the middle of book 2 and even with all those heroes I'd still tell you to restart and reroll for new heroes. The new heroes are practically all much stronger than book 1-3 heroes. Most modern units have completed if not near completed kits. Also most of those book 2 heroes fodder is most likely in the common pool, Grail pool, or is powercrept that using those skills on a unit today would be considered a budget build since the new skills outperform them by a wide margin.

Of banners that are currently up, blue on the Veyle banner is probably your best bet. Veyle is good support, Shez is great damage, Freyr is a good 1-range tank and good in AR.
But I'd do as suggested and just wait for the new heroes trailer in a bit to see what they got before rolling on anything.

I'm surprised for once Flame Emporer (Edelgard) isn't terribly overtuned for once. Though she really can stack on that -atk.

For the free unit, and being an Edelgard of course, it's a pretty decent refine. If nothing else, she can just stand back and Sabotage a foe from far away, and you can stack on the debuffs with Ruses or other such effects.
I wonder if this makes her any better or worse than Murdock, or if they're just comparable though.
I'd say she has a slight leg up on tanking capabilities in comparison to Murdock due to the refine giving out huge debuffs and giving a guaranteed follow-up similar to Murdock's weapon. But Murdock has innate DC so he can use any A skill and has modern BST. I'd still say FE is better than Murdock after this refine as a unit.
Is Plum's weapon refine even worth it? I have two, but it seems like another combat focused refine, with only an extra Atk and Res to give to her allies

Eh, I'd say this arcane is solidly a let down. Auto-follow up on a weapon type that traditionally has sky high speed when it could have instead had NFU feels fricking weird, especially when it doesn't want to use the advanced NFUs because you don't need the DR piercing from them because you'd prefer to lethality them. Being a cav unit they won't even come with a tempo skill which is naturally what you'd want with this weapon which is bonus gay.
The -x to stats is glorified trinket text, this feels like it wants to have the arcane nastrond's DR instead to help you survive the counterattack because god knows dagger units tend to be squishy.
Just feels disappointing an uninteresting, like obviously the arcane dagger is gonna be specced into triggering lethality, just wish it did it a bit better. I had wished for more interesting shit that a dagger might do though, like movement shenanigans, a hardy bearing effect maybe, or counterattack denial, personally.
Solidly the eljuthnir of arcane daggers, probably better than your average trash dagger refine, but not really enough to make those ancient dagger units usable.

Definitely worse. The small amount of bonus damage you get from her refine's effect is negligible, and ultimately worse at contributing to killing your enemies than the special acceleration that the qiang gives. Denying your opponent their followup, while somewhat limited in applicability these days due to the prevalence of null followup effects, is still going to contribute more to your survivability than the gae bolg's effects as well.
Also comes with def smoke 3.

What I don't get about Reina and Saizo's weapons is the "If foe's HP > 75%" condition
These are purely player phase weapons, why not just have it be a "if unit initiates combat" condition

Vantage that requires setup is such a garbage niche in the modern era because as you say, pretty much everything that matters is gonna fricking one shot him.
There's always support to remedy that. Unless he's being first hit by something with Brave/Desperation/Feud anyway. Kind of wish Everliving Domain worked in a way that saved you from multi-attacks, but I'm guessing that might've been a little too powerful.
With all of the debuffs and status flying around now I'm kinda glad Ymir just showed up for me one time, she's been a main stay ever since
Just work with the non Vantage part of the weapon, like it gets Bonus Doubler so you could focus on buffing up Marth with anything that neutralizes debuffs or Panic
Also, you could try giving him Special Spiral 4? That way his Vantage would at least let him get the jump on something and pierce through DR at the same time

You couldn't have predicted her refine bwo. As long as you have fun using her it's probably fine. I'll never say something is suboptimal with my bargain bin budget builds. If you like her you could always get zesty with some future C skill power creep from a manual. It still supports her team too if you catch other enemies with it but whenever I think of her resistance let alone a mage getting near baby altina I just imagine her exploding.

I don't see why not. We have enough engage units to make a HoF line up with Etie, Lapis, Lumera, Zephia, Citrinne, Chloé, Diamante Alear(s) and Céline if they don't want to use the rearmed or special heroes in the HoF.

She was added during the second engage banner I believe the one that had Diamant and Alcryst on it but she wasn't a featured banner unit. She was added into the common pool so the only way to get her was to luckily get her by pulling on red.

Guess i've been getting pretty lucky
I must be cursed or something this mythic banner. I've pulled 35 consecutive orbs on the banner and not a single 5* has appeared yet. Hopefully I break the rate before the spark in the last 5 orbs once I get another 20 orbs. If I didn't have FEH pass to last til the end of this mythic banner I'd be devastated that I lost 135 orbs so far to gain nothing. This is especially unfortunate since I'm not even sniping for any hero in particular and according to the summoning simulator I've hit the 95th percentile not to receive a 5* in 135 orbs or so.

It looks alright if you don't think about it too hard, but then you really look at it and start to see the problems.
10% defense to damage sounds good, except then you realize that will amount to maybe 5 extra damage per hit, and even then it could have been more if the weapon was less poorly formatted. Instead of debuffing your opponent's attack stat, it could buff altena's defense more, but it doesn't. They could have changed it from debuffing your opponent's atk/def by 10, you could buff altena's by 10 and get a little bit more out of that defense to damage trait.
Besides that, the shit that qiang does for altena is just better, special acceleration is pretty much still one of the best things you can get out of your prf, and qiang does that, all while doing the only other part of gae bolg's shit that matters, which is auto-followup.
10% is also way below modern standards, which is 20%

I'm assuming by "Reflect" you mean the Distant Counter portion of her Prime skill? I don't see why it wouldn't assuming you're talking about Rockslide Dance 3. She should have NFU, Hexblade, Move+1 and Dodge bonuses which would activate Prime's DC.
Plumeria gives Hexblade and the guaranteed follow-up attack, but Anna already gets the former herself
However, Anna's Atk/Spd Rein Snap gives her +1 Mov
So that, NFU and Hexblade from her weapon, and Plumeria's guaranteed follow-up status should activate the Prime skill

Hard to say these days. Historically it seems likely, the ninja banner is both beloved and consistently high powered, but we have also seen many other high powered units who are an absolute menace this year, with still more yet to come I'm sure, along with arcane units being more and more desirable.
Pretty low. Ninja Laegjarn didn't make top cut last year even though she was a strong unit so it's going to be a similar case for Sanaki this year. I imagine people are going to focus on making another 4 colorsharing banner again with whatever broken units + rearmeds we got this year.
Who are the best units of this year anyway other than the obvious Wind tribe Claude who blows everyone up? The only other units that can come to mind is Freyr ,maybe the Brave units of this year, and Summer Fjorm. Otherwise I'm drawing a huge blank on noteworthy units.
LAlear is pretty strong and has recenty bias so i can see her getting into top 8 atleast, RPlumeria has some pretty strong fodder potential.
There's still Christmas and NY+ a bunch of new legendaries/mythics and possible rearmed/attuned heroes before AHR
Completely forgot about L!Alear and their DR busting so I can see a strong Green line up this time around for AHR with WT!Claude, L!Alear, and AT!Peony. If we get one more powerful green unit this year I can see this being a potential line up.
This year feels like kind of a crapshoot. There has just been so much increasingly absurd shit this year, and that isn't even considering people voting for units based on fodder value alone. We had a bevy of absurd arcane units, and if arcane ophelia can get in, shit like arcane chrom seem like a shoe in.

These units are a little more annoying than I thought they'd be. Sanaki breaks through even 40% 40% 30% dodge tanks really easy, but at least she did 0 damage to Thea not counting Divine Vein Flame. Couldn't 1-round Zelgius with the units I was using either including a 115 Atk brave green unit.

Holy hell, Ninja Zelgius is sweeping the tempest trials by himself on auto battle.
My team I use for the quests (one sword, lance, and axe, which for me is Brave Seliph, Brave Chrom, and Ascended Hilda) had a bit of trouble with Zelgius during the Paralogues, he's quite the unit
Only Hilda doesn't outright die and that's 'cause of her own DR, and even then she doesn't have enough firepower to one round him on retaliation
Legendary Alear and Wind Tribe Claude for sure
I feel like Fallen Byleth or Chrom too, maybe? The former for her performance or fodder, the latter for being a Rearmed Hero

NTA but I never expected to get a seasonal or limited units to +10 surprisingly I have 3 only due to seasonal demotes and basically free luck rolling sothis every b8% banner she's been on. I never merged because "muh fodder" until I saw an insane build on binding worlds. So I went bug and bought the thingy.
Nice Sothis, I have the other two Sothises +10 but the mythic since my luck on B8% is always for every other unit on red but Sothis herself. I've completed 3 limited/seasonal units but I had to save in advance to finish them. Usually it takes the following year for me to finish them once they debut. This year I was unlucky on top of using too many orbs prior to the banner rerun to finish one of my projects so I have to wait next year to get the last 4 copies for them.

I'm waiting for guidance 4 to return to give H!Sothis it since her battle capabilities kind of fell off. And for Snowthis I'm waiting for Firestorm boost to become a skill. I kind of want Snowthis to become a dual phase unit but IS doesn't give armors the choice outside of prf's or Bold fighter to get a player phase.
Honestly I still can't forgive IS for giving Sothis 2 mid refines. Hopefully they are cooking up something good for Halloween Sothis but knowing them they'll give her some extremely outdated refine like +5 all stats and maybe null c disrupt to rub it in our faces while giving everyone else unpiercable DR, miracle effects or other busted skills.

If you're just gonna be using him for Limited Hero Battles then his weapon will suffice, although that low 41 Atk stat probably won't
Ideally, Arcane Luin would be good on him, the Spd based damage would make up for that, but don't break the bank, or only if you really have no other potential Arcane Luin candidates
I managed to get an extra Ingrid on her original banner, so I have 2 luins, but I never used them because of decision paralysis. Also, since the rest of her kit is flier focused, I feel like it would be a waste. Oh well, I'll decide later, but thanks

To me, it seems her most important aspect is granting Scowl to allies to stop them from getting nuked by specials, but a common type of precharged special units include high Atk/Res SS4 mage nukes that may bypass the Res check of having their special wienerblocked. Of course, she's nice for things she actually does surpass Res on such as Wind Claude.
Granting Scowl is cool but it really should've been "if unit's Res or ally's Res > foe's Res" rather than just her own Res, since, as other units can be blessed to have higher stats, such units could have higher Res than her
I just know if I were to roll for Veyle, Blue Feud would suddenly become meta on Claude.

I parked my Brigand Boss in front of him and he won no problem. He's my Godaxe so maybe those work against him
Zelgius only debuffs atk and stacks his own attack, his weapon doesn’t protect him from getting his defenses debuffed. I used an AoE and dancer support, usually if his def/res gets debuffed enough he goes down in one turn

It'll cost you ~5-6 months of orbs to +10 her on average. So unless you hoard half your orbs every month starting now then you might get her from all the saved orbs but by that time she'll probably be powercrept.

Lethality is such BS with math like this.
It really annoyed me last SDR that an uninvested wind claude 1-shot my Mia with 65 HP and 59 Def even with claude having color disadvantage. I don't know how IS can think ahead to make Triangle Attack disappear if Schism is neutralized while at the same time being unable to see a problem with making a unit able to spam a move that not only pierces your DR, but also almost drops your defenses to 0 basically guaranteeing a kill with almost no counterplay.
Lethality really shouldn't had dropped defenses by 80% on top of negate DR. Unlike deadeye you needed to have high attack power or effective damage to at least get use out of it. I hate that IS basically nullified the point of tanky units due to lethality just straight up ignoring your defenses with special cases being DR based specials but even then your units can still die to the defense being ignored.
It took 6 years but I finally +10'd HNowi. My only 5* exclusive too.
