Almost every single old refine is horribly outdated, remember that the first swords or lances just have shitty Wo Dao or Slaying effects as their prfs, but considering we now have Arcane weapons, that's never happening, IS would rather force you to spend your orbs to roll for that shiny new toy your year 1 shitter really needs.

Is over 1k summonable units in a gacha rare? It sure seems like it should be. I feel like we get new units far too frequently.
FEH is the only Gacha I've played, but I've heard that most don't shit out characters at the rate FEH does.
I'm pretty sure FEH is the gacha that by far has the most summonable units. As a point of rough comparison here, Fate Grand Order has a mere 375.
The only other gacha I play is Housamo so 1000 units sounds insane. I'm worried what'll happen when/if they run out of new units. I think Awakening is close to being tapped out
Man, they haven't even tapped into war phase 3houses units and we barely have any engage units. Not to mention that when they well and truly do run out it just means they will be doing more alts of characters that are already in. FEH revenue has fallen, but it is still basically free millions of dollars per year for them, they aren't gonna gibe that up any time soon.

On top of that, adding new heroes is gonna slow down considering half of the banner must be the newest Attuned or Rearmed whatever

So I honestly don't think they could run out any time soon, heck some units feel like "oh yeah this was long overdue, let's add 'em now" like the regular versions of Rhea, Felix, Charlotte, Inigo, and so on

Some threeway battle between Yunaka, Ivy, and Alear for female side and less sure on the male side, but probably Alcryst as one of the top two. Could honestly see some complacency happening because some people are thinking it'll be an Engage sweep this year. Would be funny if Bernie, FRobin, or even Sharena manage to get 2nd if the Engage voters aren't voting.

Yes. Roy's support with Lilina is a brutal mog compared to the other girls. Lilina gets an instant C support with Roy. She then gains +4 support points each turn with him. While the other girls only gain +1, Cecilia gains +2. But if this isn't enough, Lilina has a special ending with Roy, while the other girls don't.
Also, Roy and Lilina's A support adds bonus points for the S rank.

BL was my first route. Barring Felix being a really good unit (Crest of Fraldarius proccing every hit with Gauntlets will never not be based), him constantly ragging on Dimitri for being a savage while Dimitri is the nicest guy in Fodlan being proven right when Dimitri goes boar mode was cool as hell. I wouldn't say so. It's no secret that Sigurd dies halfway through his game, and most of his appearances outside his game, like Engage and FEH, focus on his dead self. You get to see this character contemplate on his regrets and achievements, but this doesn't really happen in his game, it's more like fanservice for the people that already witnessed his journey. In game, he's a well-meaning hot-head who bites more than he can chew and is thrown into a conspiracy that ultimately claims his life; the very definition of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". There's a hidden scene later in the game where Seliph meets Sigurd's ghost where he congratulates his son on how far he's gotten and imparts wisdom on him. I'd say all of Sigurd's later adaptations come from this moment, especially his Legendary art. I won't say that playing FE4 is going to change your mind, but it'll give you way more context into his character.

I played FE4 some time after seeing Sigurd and crew in FEH. I knew he would die because of the memes, but I didn't really know what the context was.
Then I played and saw that he was pretty much just a pawn, and deconstructed the idea of being a knight in shining armour, going around helping people only for it to slowly cause problems all throughout his campaign. He was a man who did what he thought was right, but had the curtain pulled from under him at the last second.
I think FEH just got me to think alright, what's this guy about, and I enjoyed his tale.
The game was good, but man are those maps ginormous.

It's been years since I played FE4, but he felt like a generic good guy, and the parts that make him interesting were the events that surround him more than his personality, and the most interesting choice he makes is to ignore the old man's direct warning about Deirdre's cursed womb.
I think FEH has brought up some of the better points like him not holding a grudge or hating Arvis after what Arvis did.

It's basically the same thing as reinhardt, but perhaps less. It's not some alien concept she would get alts because of this. If reinhardt hadn't blown up in popularity, I doubt he would have gotten a sword, dancer, or even rearmed alt. One of the main features of FEH was to breath life into old characters, and it succeeded a bit with Reinhardt, and Altina.

altina has never been shown to have pronounced abs outside of the overal shape every artist renders. she has a mostly athlethic build and I don't get autists who confused Senri's fictional body tight clothing for that.
Everybody has random standards and beliefs of what should be the characters body type. When you combine this with guest artists taking liberties or drawing a character more to their style/taste it causes people get crazy and start thinking there is some conspiracy against some characters. IE: some goobies believe that IS has it out for Femleth, and demands artist shrink her breasts, or demand artists inflate Fjorm's because this is all some grand scheme.

I know Daisuke Izuka did the CGs for RD, which is the only place we say Altina in the original game, but didn't Kita Senri design all of Tellius's characters? I'd say her rendition is the closest thing to canon Altina we're gonna get
Daisuke Izuka also did some CGs for Elibe (hard to tell because GBA screen), main artist for New Mystery and most importantly was the art director for Cipher.
He's quite the veteran as far as the series go, but he has relegated mostly to Heroes alts ever since Cipher died for Heroes's sins
sometimes I take for granted how many god tier artists consistently work on FE art. Could stare at Izuka's illustrations all day. or Hidari's, or Sachiko's, or Yoshiku's. There's so many.

The artists AFAIK are fairly praised. Izuka's stuff looks great. Yoshiku's use of colors is wonderful, and his outfits for males are underrated IMO, but he has an issue with anatomy sometimes. Hidari's stuff is all solid, at least in echoes it was, but he doesn't seem to want to do FE stuff, or perhaps IS just doesn't want to rehire him. Wada's GBA stuff is nice.
A lot of FEH artists can create some AMAZING pieces for Cipher, but struggle to make 3 different poses, I don't get how. some things tend to look obviously wrong.

Love Lack, he's amazing! Some artists struggle to figure out how to effectively execute isolated character art mostly due to not enough experience with giving their poses sufficient energy and movement. Yura and Yoneko are good examples of this since both made great cipher illustrations while their FEH art is a bit lacking.

I don't think so, I think he's more out of his element. You can see that the attack and damage illustrations are actually very good and it's mostly just the face that looks weird. He only really choked the front shot with her head. It would seem to be that he fricking ceased to exist as the last thing he ever posted was to pixiv was illustrations for other card games on April 2017, shortly after the game launched, and hasn't shown signs of life. His twitter and personal blogs got nuked.

Beasts have always been in a weird spot because they just fit very poorly into how FEH works. They have traditionally wanted to be in teams that exclusively have beasts and dragons only, just out of convenience, but both beasts and dragons tend to also be premium units, making the strategy of using beasts very inherently f2p unfriendly. And even when you do make a team around them... they are generally, you know, about as good as any other unit. Basically they aren't really worth the trouble and the increased cost of using. I think INTSYS has only recently begun to understand that that is the case, but it is a little too late.

Like Beasts aren't RD/PoR bad, they're just unweildy.
I think the biggest problem they face is the fact that they're all locked Range 1 melee units, which makes building Beast teams rather obtuse. You always end up with a bunch of range 1 melee units that get cucked by ranged cavalry units. They do give a strong advantage to Armored Beasts by giving them natural DC on transformation, but this also means the team ends up centering around the DC armor.
The newer powercreep Beast B skills remove the transformation condition and make them overall pretty great units however they don't exactly overperform above the new shiny toys as powercreep marches on. It's best to think of them as glorified axe/lance/sword units, although they do have the very interesting niche of being the only way to deal range 1 melee Colorless damage.

VA's kinda pointless nowadays because of all the damage reduction piercing (or simply sheer power) that everything's got, unfortunately
GLR can't be stopped by such effects (for now, anyway)
on the flip side, glr whiffs entirely if you're 6 spe below your opponent. I can't recommend it on someone who you aren't giving lots of merges/flowers/summoner support. at least va still adds extra damage if you're slower.
then we can flip again, and point out that glr has an easier condition to meet by 15 whole points, if you're going into a battle where you know you can barely meet the check. this makes it impossible to give a general answer.

I also (also) forgot to mention, even if you're barely meeting the spe check on glr, it doesn't add as much damage as VA would. you'd still have to strike twice. but maybe you charged it from buffer, which has no opportunity cost compared to tp4.
if you were to graph the relative benefit of va compared to glr, it would be super duper spiky in the middle.
glr beats dr piercing, but loses to "opponent cannot use defensive specials" found on karla and nanna. this stupid special arms race has also made too many different effects to produce a general statement. and the meta will change in 2 weeks anyway.

She was a great unit in my FE6 run, and I appreciated that, but I can't say if she was a mega hit back during FE6 JP release.
In FEH she might be a bit more popular because her first unit was solid, she's drawn to be incredibly hot in each of her forms, and FEH has reached more people than probably every FE game combined. There's a good chance somebody out there rolled Igrene and got attached to her from FEH, and that some, or more of her popularity comes from being in FEH than her original JP only release.
Altina/Reinhardt and many other FE characters are in the same boat that they have become more well known, or liked from being in FEH compared to their original game.
She is for FE6 standards she's decently popular.

Hardy fighter is still good because it doesnt care about drpierce, but if you need to secure kills you would want DRPierce. For idunn the only ways to get that is SS4 or through LCam or LAlear.
I gave my Idunn Distant Counter but honestly I care more about her surviving than killing
I've also given my Idunn DC and Hardy Fighter and, yup, Hardy Fighter helps you survive but you have no firepower whatsoever since whatever's attacking her will (likely) have a ton of DR, so you can't kill 'em on retaliation
Nowadays kinda necessitates like, Floe + SS4, since Floe can provide damage and unpierceable DR, and then SS4 lets you pierce through most opposing DR
Hardy Fighter 4 feels like it's needed nowadays, and I feel like it should have the "activates twice against Brave" effect like L Corrin's Negating Fang II, but unless it has some method of helping you punch through other DR then you're still kinda stuck unless survival is the top priority

With No Quarter it is alot easier for units to get DR Pierce+"fake"DR (For example NoQuarter+GuardBearing which kinda wants scowl support) but then you dont have true DR and the other option for true DR, GLR needs you to always outspeed which can be shaky, I guess infantry could use something like Escution or Sacred Cowl or Miracle+ NFU4 or Tempo4 but miracle is abit hard to loop and the defensive specials might not be enough but imo if you are much faster or you have brave you don't need DR pierce as much, also against brave i think if the deflect would get reworked to give flat DR it could help alot, i believe it would help hard tanks alot more then speed tanks.

I've been using him in my TT autobattle team and Igrene always deletes him when she initiates. Maybe in AR-O a good tank with mythic buffs and Gotoh's support can survive her though.

Winter Byleth can give the same status effect and that helps against Igrene a lot, so it should also work well with Gotoh

Your initial hunch is right though, if you (or the foe) have buffs and the foe (or you) has a skill that negates said buffs, then it'll be treated as if you don't have 'em at all
But, seeing the in-combat debuff is also a visual indicator as if to say "yeah those buffs are gone"

With the Safety Fence, if a unit on the opposing team gets move+1 on their turn, do you have to take that in consideration when staying out of their attack range for the gate's effect to kick in? I only started using it this season, so I'm not 100% sure on its function..
The Fence will only activate after start of turn buffs have been distributed. So if you are not in range at the end of your turn, but the opponent gets +1 Move and you are now in range, then the Fence will NOT activate and you will get frickblasted

Keeping track of half a dozen units all boasting novel-length skill sets hiding behind traps and trenches is such a pain in the ass. Overlooking just one effect can easily destroy your entire assault. And to think that Feh was supposed to be the small scale Fire Emblem experience for inbetween, fitting into coffee breaks. Where are the people now who made fun of Conquest for being "Skill Emblem" and what do they think of Feh, I wonder.

not really. it's an obvious upgrade on anyone without a prf passive. on a melee cav for instance, you can't even use the other X slots.
Only when compared to the other Echo skills, it's just a nothing skill, but a free +4 Atk in general is fine
Now if you want truly useless skills, try Impact skills, which were made obsolete by the Remote skills (follow-up denial (lol) vs. damage reduction)
30% is basically nothing (lol) and you'll just get pierced by anything now that it's more common than nfu. stuff like remote mirror is pure trash. remote sparrow is okay if you can't get catch or finish.

At least you can mitigate some damage if you're exchanging blows with a Remote skill, whereas the follow-up denial effect from Impact basically means nothing 99% of the time

speed creep is a constant, but inconsistent.
Last January we had Engage and desert nino.
FAlear+ nino both had mid to high 40s in speed, and their PRFs could give something like 20 speed. Tea time Lysithea's prf game something akin to 32 true damage or a similar amount of speed.
The FU denial and guarantee FU effects at this point feel more for budgeting characters for PVE stuff. It feels like every character comes with NFU, FUD, or FUG. With the first one being so common it completely devalues the latter in many high end pvp aspects, but non whale tiers tend to use older units that might not have it so it's okay for non whale tiers or pve stuff.

If you're going for an Ideal skill then a menace wouldn't be bad as it helps keep your Ideal bonus up, and the menace skills are a bit easier to get compared to some other C skills.
You could also try going for a smoke, but the T4 smokes aren't as good anymore.

Since Tina steals status effects and can deal damage equal to how many she's got, you should probably either give her some other statuses and/or use her alongside units that can grant her status effects in the event that you run into opponents who don't actually have too many to steal

It would be neat if IS had a second CYL thing to determine the GHB, or a TT unit. It should just be NPCs, lore characters, and such that would normally never win or likely get it otherwise, and it could be fun.
We had Farfetch Heroes before, Dorcas got featured there because of his meme status, no idea why they never did that again.
They had it book 2 with Loki, Aversa, Owain, and Kliff as well. Something they did in book 3 and later probably made the farfetched heroes a bit redundant, but I can't recall what it was. Perhaps they just figured it wasn't as necessary once they finally got their shit together and organized some sort of pattern and structure with banners. We had the 6 unit banners +the Ayra fiasco in book 1, and in book 2 we had the 2 person banner with Ylgr/Surtr. They also never did another end of book FB and that is upsetting. By book 3 IS figured out what they were doing.
They realized that if they made a Farfetched Hero banner every year, they'd quickly burn through the most popular heroes instead of saving them to carry the banners for their respective games. A few years ago, once they stopped with the Farfetched Heroes banners, pretty much every New Hero banner was comprised of the highest ranking characters in CYL. I'm sure this isn't the case anyomore, but they also wisened up and are now including Ascended/Rearmed/Attuned heroes of popular characters to carry the banners

It's nice that we have 5 inheritance slots, but at this point why not simply allow us to inherit as much as we want off of a hero? This mostly just makes me scared about the chance of tier 5 skills coming. This is the closest thing to something good this FEH channel has brought.
Shifting over old 5*s to the 4* special rate is still a terrible bandaid patch for this terribly bloated summoning system that really doesn't fix the problem of the 3-4* pool being infested with completely worthless heroes in the modern age. Please for the love of god just shift all the year 1-4 3-4* units to a friend point gacha or something.

They have acknowledged that florets becoming increasingly rare is a problem by tacitly giving us one as an anniversary gift, but that doesn't fix the problem.
Engage Heroes are basically just a much more whale friendly, F2P unfriendly system for making your units more powerful. From what I can tell they are basically dragon flowers except you have to summon a premium unit for each level of upgrade. At least with fricking dragonflowers they were distributed in a way that was shitty for everybody, but anybody could still have a full powered unit. For engage heroes you are gonna need to +10 a probably limited premium unit to allow any given other unit to achieve their max potential, or 4 limited premium units up to +10 in order to get a full team up to their max potential.

In Engage, a lot of the Emblems had alternate weapons (Ike has an axe, Sigurd a lance, Lyn a bow, and so on) in addition to their signature swords.

Just play once a week and your synergy bonus will go up. If it is at 99 already it won't go up any further.

Legendaries with pair up make it easier to get WTA kills, mostly, as you can swap between two different units.
As a point of reference, I just use unmerged legendaries paired up with generically good units and as long as I do most of the kills with WTA I end up handily with a score of around 1000.

Genuinely feels like IS is just trying to speedrun EOS at this point. Does anyone on their end ever give ANY thought whatsoever to how FEH looks from the perspective of a new player who just tries to get into it for the first time? Imagine you start playing today and you just want to build your favorite character to be the best unit he or she can be. Only one character.
Then you learn that in order to achieve that, you need eleven 5* copies of him or her, and if you're lucky this might entail you need up to 200k feathers for demotes (but if you're unlucky that first step might already be plain impossible because the character you want is not in the regular summoning pool and not on any current banner), you might need a shitload of dragonflowers (depending on when that character last got an alt), you probably need a bunch of hard to come by skill fodder units, in particular you need to get your hands on one of three attuned units for X skills, you need to get enough coins and badges to max out whichever sacred seal your hero wants, you need to get one of those elusive florets (at least you actually get one of those for free), and ON TOP OF ALL THAT now you need another eleven 5* copies (no feather shortcut) of some other character you might not even really care about, just to finish your build for your singular most favorite character in Fire Emblem. Only one character, not even a team of four. And when you're finally done with all of that, the unit you built will have been powercrept into oblivion ten times over.
How hard and fast would you nope out of that prospect if you just started playing today? It's like they are making an active effort to scare off new players and frustrate a bunch of old ones into uninstalling with every new announcement. Does IS management think that at the end of days, after getting rid of all the f2p poorgays, FEH will be the perfect money printer populated by whales only? How deluded can they be?

Yeah, it is really fricking stupid. The number of resources required to "max out" a unit, has effectively doubled in the last 3 months. New players had a genuine advantage in one specific area, in that you can power through the story mode and pretty handily get enough orbs to +10 a premium unit. But now you need to +10 two units, and get some other shit on top of that. You aren't maxing out a single fricking unit with the story mode orbs now, that's for fricking sure. The truth of the matter is that even invested players are pretty fricked with this update. Unless you are a whale who is prepared to outright buy your power, you are just fricked.
Having Emblems in FEH can lead to having completely brand new ones. For the 10 homies complaining about not having Alm, Seliph and Eliwood, there's a chance kek

Well I wouldn't know what abilities they should have but I just think it'd be cool if IS redeemed them as Emblem "Heroes" in FEH since they were sadly lackluster in Engage. So a more powerful version of every boss would be neat. But in my opinion Veld should inflict a new debuff called petrify which ends a units next actions at the start of turn whenever he attacks a target and those adjacent to target, it also negates non special DR.
I can't wait for Emblem Reinhardt that lets you strike twice after your Special activates
Olwen is actually an Emblem in engage that grants brave effect to units with a thunder tome, but I'm sure the morons at IS are salivatingat the chance to give Reincuck another alt

Well on its own it isn't much but combined with flowers(+1 all stats min), summoner support(+2 all stats and +5Hp), ally support(+1 all stats if within 2 spaces; +2 if adjacent), and this (+2 all stats if max merged) is a +7 stat increase across the board which is significant enough to double and negate damage.
Imagine when Emblems eventually get powercrept and whales gotta +10 the better ones again for the stat increase.

I heard long ago that Dragons and Beasts are the key for such a mode and I'm still not sure why, maybe they tend to have higher HP than other units?

said with a full mixed dragon, beast, or mage team you can reach a maximum combo score in the game mode significantly boosting your final score. I think mage/dragons work best so you have ranged units and dragons are more common than beast units from friends.
Because dragons and beasts are color agnostic, whereas you NEED Sword, Lance, AND Axe for the +6.
It's less that it's color agnostic and more that you also have access to colorless so it's easier to get the +6.

Basically you should be fielding a squad of only legendary heroes because they get a score bonus. Then, you're aiming to only get WTA kills because those give you extra points.
