I'm not usually a doomer, but it's beginning to worry me a lot. It feels like powercreep is getting faster than ever. I'm hoping it's just like Last year where January just had a huge bump in powercreep, but then it actually receded relative to them.
These added mechanics and powercreep just feel way more unstable.
Nah I feel you, it does feel like they've ramped up and kicked everything into overdrive within the span of a year, and it's just accelerated faster and faster, stronger and stronger
Like the comparison between Brave Seliph (who I thought was pretty strong) and Tea Time Ayra just a year later, he's so much slower by comparison now, and even Ayra can struggle because she doesn't have DR pierce
Every weapon has DR, NFU, Tempo, huge stat swings, to the point where they may as well say "if you initiate combat, the foe just explodes"
I can't imagine trying to even design a tank around all the shit they give player phase nukes. at this point I think IS can't either because they went too far with sword gods and nukes. The only thing I can think of is making more characters like Alfred that just get 20-30 visable defense for existing, but that can only do so much when we now have characters dealing 15-30 precombat chip damage without an aoe special.
I miss when Berkuts lance was good option for some characters.
The only thing I can think of is making Hardy Fighter 4 that lets defensive Specials activate twice against Brave attacks like Negating Fang II, but more often than not nukes also have quite a bit of DR to help them survive so some piercing is necessary too
To the point where now armours need those new Armoured [whatever] Specials alongside SS4 so that they can still get some DR themselves (and it's the new, better, unpierceable DR basically) while being able to pierce through opposing DR
But there's still no answer to losing 14 to 21 (or against Legendary Camilla, even more!) HP right as combat begins

Yeah, I'm gonna be honest with you here, the game has hit critical mass. I literally do not think they can salvage it at this point. Every update now has shit that counters the strong shit from the previous update, and shit from the update before that is borderline worthless. Units that were broken a year ago are borderline unusable now.
We have simply gotten to the point where there isn't much higher to go. Tanks have to be able to survive such absurd shit that no unit that isn't the newest giga tank buster has any chance of beating it, so we have units that are designed to be able to kill those absurd tanks.
Reminder that Fomortiis, once considered a very powerful and sturdy tank, cannot tank anything anymore, and was only released a year ago around this time.
He's now on a Hero Fest with other units that were (Alfred aside) also once at the top of their game, but struggle a lot now.
%DR is the biggest mistake ever added into the game. It was fine when it was super rare and only on Brave Ike, Seliph, and Sigurd, but when everyone has it, it becomes too much to bear, especially now that people can stack it and some abilities give a baseline of 50.
before DR, if your units couldn't win against someone of the same range type, you could normally at lease kill/chip them with someone on your team that is the opposite range, even with budget units. Now you have some ranged characters with a shit ton of DR that hardly get scratched by budget melee units and are 100% going to murder your team on enemy phase.
I have a few units like base reginn that can somehow still reliably kill enemies after 3 years but I can't understand how. I pity anyone in whale tiers that has to put up with that stuff every week.
The only bright side is that most pve stuff like abyssal GHB don't have enemies with DR, so budget units can sometimes perform in there. The only issue is inflated stats to compensate, and dealing with the boss who does have an insane amount of bullshit.
The countless buffs are also getting hard to keep track of. the new feature will be helpful.

I thought it was an entirely reasonable necessary evil when it came to what it was supposed to represent flavorfully: dodging.
The swordmaster type dodge tank unit has traditionally been a fan favorite, and that archetype was not represented in a good way in FEH because they were just shitty infantry units.
The problem with DR really came when it stopped being dodge based and started just being... ubiquitous. Having a max of like 40% DR on your otherwise frail sword autist was fine, the problem was when they started tacking massive amounts of DR to tanks. Once again, a lot of our problems can be directly traced back to Fallen Edelgard, who was the first armor unit to get that kind of absurd unconditional DR. We ended up getting more and more of these armors with massive amounts of DR on top of their already higher stats (which tended to be specialized into being defensive, obviously), to the point where extant units could not really compete, so then we had the start of absurd offensive units who could shit out so much damage that if your tank DIDN'T have some amount of unconditional DR, they were fricking worthless, thus creating the death spiral we now exist in now.
Honestly while it was locked to fast infantry units it was fairly innocuous. It mostly just made that archetype competitive with others, rather than making them particularly strong. The problem was when they started putting DR on units who really had no reason to fricking have it.
a low defense infantry melee getting 30% DR is okay in theory, yes, but the issue is that when you have %DR you chance the game from simple arithmetic a 2nd grader could do to having to figure out how the game actually calculates the DR and then doing 30% of 30%=X and then 30% of x% added to the the defenses and calculating that with WTA. It makes what was supposed to be a much simpler, bite sized version of FE into a requiring much more thought just to calculate if your unit can still do 10 damage to a unit with 5hp. it effectively kills a lot of the strategy portion and planning ahead because the equations become much more complicated. the most you had before was weapon triangle to complicate things. Maybe I'm projecting but it feels like it isn't uncommon to hear people just say "I've stopped trying to figure it out and just use the combat forecast" because there is just too much shit going on.
dodge tanking would have been better as some sort of FU denial or even just "Dodges first attack against against enemy if it is faster, once per turn" kind of thing because at least then you could bait it out with a ranged attack and not have to go pull out a calculator to play the game. It also doesn't help when some newer sword units can get low to mid 30s with defensive stats which is low enough to justify the crazy amount of DR they get IMO.
If DR had just been rare, or couldn't stack in any shape, then it would have been a lot more tolerable IMO, but the way IS handled it feels like the most unhealthy option to the point that perhaps it just should never have been implemented.
God I fricking hate DR.
This is why I haven't cared about new units in a long time, they're just another flavor of overpowered that will get powercrept in a matter of months, sometimes even weeks. My main problem with this game is what an anon in the previous thread mentioned, building new units from scratch has become such a titanic effort that no new player in their right mind would ever attempt to do. Imagine starting the game with, let's say, Lon'qu as your favorite character, and you want to bring him to his maximum potential, you'd need:
>220,000 feathers to +10 him
>3260 Dragonflowers
>3 Tier 4 skills minimum, many of them exclusive to one single unit each
>an Ascended Floret from units that are already getting forgotten by IS
>an Arcane weapon from units that are not available in the regular pool
>an Attuned unit to inherit an X skill
All for him to die in one round to the flavor of the month, and he's a sword, the most cattered weapon type in the game. It has gotten so bad that even story maps and Tempest Trials are becoming really annoying to beat, and even trying to complete the orb missions on Paralogues has become a completely miserable experience because seasonals are the main source of powercreep in this game. Engage units are such a spit on the face and I absolutely detest the idea behind them, how in hell can you tell your entire fanbase with a straight face that you need to +10 a unit exclusively available in Legendary/Mythic banners just to receive a whooping +2 on all stats and an improved special skill? And the worst part is that we haven't even gotten our fourth Attuned hero, and they're already releasing a whole new kind of unit.
To add, I just played Pawns of Loki and Jesus Christ it's almost unplayable even on Intermediate, I don't even want to imagine how horrendous it must be in Advanced.

That's how I always clear abyssal maps, I started doing it back when Seiros came out. There was an anon on /vg/ who used to post his unequipped Haar clears and I wanted to emulate that.
It makes things a bit more interesting but not exceedingly difficult, I recommend trying it out. It shouldn't be too hard if you use modern units.

Depends on what you want out of him. Potent is a much more offensive skill, spurn is a more defensive one. If you are worried about his durability, stick with spurn. If you want him to kill shit better, you may wish to consider potent.

Another thing to bear in mind is that fargus is just gonna be overall less resource intensive for a new player to build, due to needing way less dragonflowers, so he has that going for him as well.

It might even mean less because we have no idea if/how IS takes +10s into account when calculating data.

actually, no. tp4 only charges if your special is at its maximum after combat. since you attack once after activating glr this won't be the case. you may be able to charge it in one hit now that you have the marth ring, but tp4 doesn't interact with this.
tp4 still functions as well as tp3, and against dudes with guard which is nice. but it's not really worth it compared to other C skills which improve your matchups against enemies with guard and enemies without it.
I'm not an MLG pro, but Spurn looks better for defensive speedsters, Potent might be better for offense ones
keep in mind you lose the ability to give his emblem buff if you lose him, so only fodder him if its an extra copy

Ullr. Her refine is probably 6 months away.
Ullr was a solid unit for a while, but she had the issue of not doing anything spectacular, or useful in a way that was harder to powercreep. Altina had the cool TWO SWORDS brave vantage gimmick and won AHR so she gained fans, and eliminated had a busted skill that made her great for pvp modes. Ullr was.....a goo d offensive unit with massive honkers..woo.
Her Prf B having Desperation and Offensive NFU was nice, but her Prf weapon just didn't withstand the test of time. With Ninja Yumi/Whitecap, she at least had x4 at 100% pretty easily, but by the time those were out she could barely make a dent in the Far Save tanks.
I can never spell her name, but I was glad she was added despite not caring that much about Jugdral. I wish they'd do that stuff more often, throw in Soan, more crusaders, and more of the Eight Legends

What would you consider her best source for NFU? I know she could theoretically make good use of Atk Spd Prime too if stacking the boni from the Wind Tribe Club + Assault Troop + X, although Prime is the one skill option that never came up anyway (so far).

Mainly I wanted to give her more offensive PP options, because tanking is not exactly in a good place right now unless your name is Byleth. But I also want to keep her options open for different playstyles. That said, the AS Solo does have some PP utility, even if not as much as Surge Sparrow or similar. And some of what I picked up is really just for fun. She's not going to keep Rally Atk and with a Gambit kit, she's not going to keep Armored Beacon either. But it's nice to have just in case.

They might not be exactly save 4 skills, but it could be something like "DIVINE SAVIOR 3" or whatever those new staff B skills are.

It sucks because most older armors, or demotes, felt pretty much forced into it.
MY Valfonse hasn't seen much use out of TT grinding because everything blows him up. ranged armors are especially fricked because they can't get some of the melee only skills to turn them into better offensive units.
Can ranged armours use Armoured Floe or Beacon? That should help, if not then that's really lame

Every new unique Special has the null Guard effect built in, more and more units are coming with Tempo, and now if you want to stop a Special from activating, you need to use Scowl effects (hence why Byleth is pretty much the only Save tank left)
According to the FEH builder they can use Armored beacon/blaze/floe, but some melee infantry have access to the 3 move C skill, and Gambit. moving 1 square at a time used to be fine years ago, but now everyone is so mobile it's a huge detriment. It's partly why save skills exist.
I would have to rely on bringing others to make them more mobile via warp skills/Alear S support, but that takes up limited slots and team building like that is somewhat dead with how characters tend to do almost everything now.
I've sort of wondered what it would've been like if armors had 2 move in any cardinal direction like a lesser Assault Troop. A lot of things about how they handle armor units never made sense to me, Bulwark should've been an armor effect in the first place so armors could effectively act as a chokepoint. They flip between overpowered and useless too easily as it is.
Considering Byleth has the super mega Scowl effect, I feel like armours should at least have access to SOME form of Scowl, it would at least be something when Special Fighter doesn't do shit anymore thanks to Tempo being everywhere
But it seems that's a Dragon only tool (again, Byleth aside)

Halloween Duma came out before Ascended Tiki with the Scowl effect so it was always going to be an all dragons thing. Brave Tiki just got to introduce it. Brave Tiki's other thing was precharging her special at the start of combat which Diamant ended up taking.
They have content planned out likely a year in advance. There's a decent chance it's just bad luck.

What is the issue? I have several sisters and when they were younger they wanted to be a good mom, and played with dolls houses to pretend they were an adult. It's a common thing. Seeing the difference between young tiki and adult tiki was cute and a bit disheartening given Ytiki liking marth, and that is something Atiki got over. the only better candidates for a bridal duo/harmonic for Tiki would be Bantu acting like her dad and walking her down the isle, or Naga and getting to see how her/his daughter grew up and is getting married. Bantu might give people the wrong idea so he is out. That leaves Naga, but with Young Tiki you get twice the character you like.

it's because the alt is kinda centered on Y!tiki. A!Tiki fans want ISIS to write A!Tiki dialogue that isn't "remember how I was in FE1/3?". It's like only Letting Finn/Shannon/ other surviving Gen 1 Jug character only talk about about the shit that happened in Gen 1. There should be more to the character. Imagine that they finally give Karel his sword saint FE6 alt but he only talks about how bloodthirsty he was in FE7.
Difference is that Karel was a sword saint in the series first and we saw how he was later on. A!Tiki was literally put in Awakening as fanservice. It's massively blown out of proportion because Awakening was their first game so they didn't get that feeling of seeing an old fan favorite again.

Only Chrom has stood the test of time and that's because he keeps getting stronger with more and more status effects he can steal
I would expect Chrom to get a tame but still good refine that brings him up to speed (like with Marth), and hopefully the others get refines that put them back on the map

I'm a tierlet, but it seems fine. Arion could use a better A, or at least T4, skill, but they seem like a decent team.
You could replace Validar later if you want. I don't know what the synergy between Validar and Lysithea are, but if you just want Validar for debuffs then Zephia should also debuff and she is a red mage flier. Aversa does the same thing, but is years older. Wait to see what Ashnard's refine is and if you want him because Arion's flying buff is really nice, and on top of that Arion is a more modern unit. If you are willing to wait, Arion would also save you grails as he should get a few more free copies from reruns over the the next year or two. IS normally gives enough copies of a GHB to +5, but rarely do they do one run and then are done.

It's a one-shot meta. As a general rule I'd always assume that the latest units will instakill anything they touch, so I need to one-shot them first on player phase. And if I can't do that, I lose.
It's telling that my reaction to ever being able to successfully enemy phase a new unit (and not just survive with 5% hp after my weapon triangle advantage) is not "just as expected" but "wow, this new guy is actually really bad"

He effortlessly became my second best unit even though I wasn't gunning for it at all, just from picking up some skills here and there so he'd be able to "pull his weight." the way i see it, there are a few possiblities.
1) Awakening 2 bridal with grom Chrom/ Bridal Frobin, and some others like Aversa
2)Fates bridal with either Mamui-sexual units, or they stuff Camilla, Azura, and Femui in there, possibly shafting Mamui. Femui is a bit due for an alt.
3) new banner altogether, potentially FE7 bridal with Groom hector/Eliwood.
Groom Mamui wouldn't be bad because then he can be paired with fates waifus, but the selection of Mamui-sexual units isn't amazing. We also got Bridal anna last year, a Reina 4-6 months ago, and L!Camilla in december, so that likely cuts on three spots. While IS doesn't care about profits, this would leave Scarlet, and Flora which are niche. Either IS adds stuff like Bridal Femui/Azura or has a Femui-sexual banner which would be even worse bar Femui.
knowing this, and that FE6 got two bridals in a row + with the fact that IS likes to make alts of potential CYL winners earlier in the year, it is likely we get a another Awakening bridal but focused on Chrom.
TL:DR
Groom mamui isn't terrible, but the selection for everyone else isn't great from a certain standpoint. Bridal Awakening 2.0: Chrom'd edition is more likely.

The issue with option 2 is that half the candidates are likely gone if it's doing avatar-sexual candidates. It would be very awkward to get two bridal anna's, two Reina's within 5-10 months, and better options like Camilla would have gotten an alt 5 months previously. IS stopped shoving her alts every 6 months years ago due to backlash.
So who would they shove onto a Bridal Mamui banner knowing those are down for this year? even if we got with Avatar sexuals we would have Scarlet+Flora and that leaves 2 slots open.

The OC free girls in the long list of girls are hit or miss. usually someone likes one, but they aren't as widely popular.
My personal favorites are Eir>Seidr>Fjorm=Reginn> Ash>Peony> Ratatoskr

Now that the other anon mentions it, I'm not sure if any of these characters have models you can easily rip from the game, so that might complicate things. You could just steal the 2d sprites and make them bigger. I'm not sure how it would look texture wise but might be funny to see.

to sum it up, my personal preference would just be a FEH OC as this is a FEH based thread, and the characters are fun.
If they are not possible then perhaps you can rip Azura/Male Corrin from FE Fates ford the 3ds and have Azura pushing a wheelchair bound Male Corrin around. I only suggest this because the last event I saw had some cool customized models with Eirika on Ephraims back.

I just use a superbuffed Lene on Light and superbuffed Mia on Astra, and if it doesn't seem like they can tank, I use pic related on Light and horse Galeforcers on Astra. I don't win all the time, but I never go through all my ladders.

For your offensive structures, just run the defense fortress, the Escape Ladder, and the bonus structure. After years, I finally started doing it and Cav lines magically became easy as piss overnight. It literally is that easy. I thought ditching the Safety Fence would make AR unplayable, but it's completely fine.

Alright I’m not mad at the banner just tired. At a very quick glance everyone is still basically the same but made for (insert meta/year) like Myrrh being an armored dragon and Ephriam being an armored Lance. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again give me something different make if they are giving us another Ephriam within 7-8 months make him a magic unit but have him throw the tome at the enemy and have it explode on contact or whatever. At least with everyone else it’s been at least around 1.5 years since their most recent appearance except for Vigarde but he gets a pass as it’s his first alt. But honestly if they wanted Sacred Stones they could have went with the Found family route with Gerik and his group I feel that would work decently enough.
So when is the cure for end turn effects coming out?
So far it's mostly just Seidr/Fomortiis that have it, but it's become really aids, and now Lyon has End turn smoke and the active ability to just end several characters turn on a whim. It just seems like the biggest cancer IS could ever introduce that is only mitigated by how limited it is on units.

What were you aiming for? I got an almost identical yield for my Lucy, except I nabbed Assault Troop for a PP oriented playstyle. Distant A/S Solo may not be perfect for Save tank nor Offensive builds, since Distant Dart and Atk/Spd Prime respectively are likely to have an edge over it - but other than that I'm not sure you could've done much better than you have. If anything the problem is that Lucy entered HoF a bit too early, since she doesn't get access to W!Edelgard's special and T4 Save skills aren't even in existence yet. But you gotta make do with what's available. (Lucky for me, I have a spare W!Edelgard lying around but I'll probably feed Lucy Aether to make the most of Gambit. I'll see how that goes.)

Speaking of arena, would five 762 matches be enough to stay in T21? I've got a L!Hector from forever ago and I'd need to beef up his SP kit. Last week required a mix of 766 and 768 matches, but it was also a Version bonus week.
I think 762 is too low. 766 should be safe this week, maybe even 764 but it's hard to predict the cutoff this early.
Last arena week required me getting two 770 and the rest 768 to stay in tier 21. Since this week is all mostly new units save for Hector, Jamke, and Sharena who few built outside of Hector you could get away with maybe doing 766 arena battles.
Last week I did 768 only and was 1300/1800 for staying in. I guess I'll just have to build my Hector and see or I'll ask for ranks on Sunday to see if it's worth trying. At least I won't need to score fish.

How do you people earnestly compete in the arena? Do you whale for it? I know I'm absolutely sick of trying to keep up with the powercreep, so I'll forever stay at 18-19.
I just use my faves and cruise in tier 20-21. I wouldn't consider myself a whale since I only buy the FEH pass once in a while. Some weeks are stupid such a L!Camilla and L!Elincia weeks because of warping (most people use oath 4 on Camilla in high tier arena when she is available). I do fit my units out with the best skills if I can acquire it so I can more easily win the battles. Other than that you should save and build up a high scoring unit or at least one broken unit it'll make your life easier in Arena. I currently lug two armor units, a duo unit (flier), and whatever bonus unit we can use for the week.
I do enough to get to Tier 20 (a Legendary and a few scorebots) and since I can't actually stay there I just auto on the easiest difficulty when I'm actually there
I think this is called Tier 19.5, and that's good enough for me
You don't even need a legendary for 19.5, just three +10 756 scoring units (AKA, any unit with a Duel 4 skill and maxed SP kit) and then any bonus unit with at least 240s in all their passives. Reminder that stuff like Escape Route and Wings of Mercy are 240 SP and Drive Attack is 240 SP, no way you don't have a thousand Echidna or Cecilia manuals lying around.
I only do good in arena because I save up orbs for my favorites, they almost never get alts so I end up spending them on +10 legendaries I like when they happen to colorshare.
Now I have 2 legendaries at max merges per season, I'd like to move on to mythics and emblems but I barely like any of them.
Most legendaries (see: lords) are going to get Emblems. Which legendaries did you +10 if you have that many that aren't lords?

I managed to stay in T20.5 for now with a +10 L!Eirika and recently a +10 L!Ephraim I managed to save for as a F2P, but I wouldn't recommend it. Probably only a matter of time until I drop.
Once a year I do a full circle merge run on a Mythic banner (okay I've only tried this twice). Pic related, I stopped since I wasn't really hot on Deirdre. But I use the Nerthuz and Shez for my arena core and I've been able to get to T21 every now and then when the bonus units line up. I would have maintained this week in T21, but I used Deidre and should have opted for a +10 unit instead.

Yeah, that is just gonna happen pretty much every new batch of units. FEH has hit the death spiral of powercreep, where everything is so bullshit that the next set of things has to be so much stronger than it to actually function that the previous units become more or less worthless.
For real, how do you salvage FEH at this point? Any time I see returning players talk about the game, it's only about how they want to turn tail straight away after seeing how hopelessly outclassed their old units are. And how does FEH expect to gain fresh blood when every skill and every weapon is an intimidating wall of text that has five layers of bullshit hidden within? What I find especially funny is how those anniversary maps with the lvl 5 opponents are really the perfect illustration of the ludicrous skill bloat. The enemy units have nothing equipped except for their prf weapons, and yet that alone is almost enough to hand them a skillset that would be solid on many units from the mainline games. Send out a team of lvl 5 year one shitters in an attempt to clear and they'll get curbstomped in two turns max.
I'm even willing to accept that some degree of powercreep is inevitable, but it has never been as bad before as it has been over the last year. And maybe the situation would still be palatable if you could at least bring old units more easily up to speed as a returning player, but that's borderline if not outright impossible. Just the dearth of dragonflowers alone will frick you over and that's not even getting into fresh bullshit like attuned skills and emblems which are even harder to get your hands on. It's almost as if every new game design decision is trying to answer the question of how to best scare away new and returning players and bleed the playerbase dry.

Lean hard into FEH Pass. Move auto start to normal gameplay, add sparking to Special Heroes, but add the "spark every focus hero" to every banner if you sub to FEH Pass and also bonus tickets for every New/Special/8% banner, AND ALSO add even more stuff to consecutive months subbed (1 Celestial Stone every consecutive month you're subbed, Floret every 3, etc). Then update the Stone Shop to have more stuff you could want.
Basically give every incentive to keep summoning you can possibly give. The more people spending orbs means the less f2p orbs they'll have on the things they really want, which leads to spending on banners. People subbed to FEH Pass is just bonus money.

Stopping them from releasing skills with more text than exist on currently existing skills doesn't stop those skills that currently exist from being a problem.

I suppose it is inevitably the problem with a gacha game with some amount of PVP content where players have to pit their units against each other. Truth is, it was probably fricked from the start, it just took them a while to get to the point where it was really unrecoverable. If there exists any kind of FEH that is a sustainable game, it probably just needs to focus on single player content and keep players going by releasing more fanservice stuff.

I figure that the obvious loophole for "can't roll back overpowered nonsense" would be to make it tournament illegal. As in, the worst skills are plainly banned from PvP modes. It's not an unusal measure for trading card games to ban the most busted cards from tournaments and ranked play. Theoretically IS could do the same, disregarding the fact that they deliberately introduce broken skills as a way to lure the p2w whales into spending money and would risk to piss off those same whales by taking away their ability to pay their way to victory.
Yeah, I suppose that is fair. But if their goal is to make money, I highly doubt that it would be a good idea to ban the characters people would spend money on in the only game modes you actually need that kind of power for.
I mean, in the end it's a tradeoff between steady income over a long time period and making big bucks off whales for a short time. If TCGs like Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon can run for decades on end, then potentially so could FEH. But that would require that IS gets a grip on their short sighted greed already. TCGs have powercreep too in order to incentivize people to buy the newest expansions, but not to this extent. They still try to keep a semblance of game balance because they know that scaring off all the casuals is not a winning strategy in the long term.
Part of the thing about card games is that rotating selections of options have been inherit to them since the start. Magic had a system for rotating out old cards almost as soon as the idea of new cards came into existence. Magic players and the like are used to it, so they are able to get rid of old cards without much fuss, plus everybody knows that there are formats where they can keep playing their favorite old cards if they want.
Gacha has no such precedent. If they try it now they risk invoking the autistic wrath of gacha players who have never had to deal with that before. FEH kind of tried it with the year 1-3 (?) restricted summoner duels, but that mode is even more dead than normal summoner duels.
We already have a rotating selection, it's just not the units who get rotated but the skills. Thanks to inheritance there is no reason that you should need to discard your old favorite characters entirely. In this analogy, it's the skills which are the cards and the specific characters are almost like card sleeves. The problem is plainly that the rotation in FEH is too fricking fast and too extreme. Show me one TCG where every single month they release new cards which effectively turn your old ones into fancy tinder? Normally you can expect to have a card remain viable for a year or so. But most anything released by FEH just a few months ago is already flaming garbage. Everyone knows this is unsustainable except for IS it seems.

Agreed, but what usually happens after is that every attacker after somehow all have the exact counter to your defense so now the initial success looks like a fluke. And now you are unable to tell if your defense sucks or you got unlucky with all the battles after the first.
I just noticed I have no duo units on my defense so duo's hindrance isn't doing anything. I think that's a dumb requirement for the structure to function.

Which cost me a lot in orbs too, since a suspicious number of circles had either just one green option or, of course, none at all. I suspect I ended up somewhere at 4.75 orbs/roll, but I might as well not have bothered since the spark is all I got. I'm halfway convinced that IS deploys an algorithm which makes an educated guess what you're rolling for and then makes sure to deny it to you. And worst of all, even a fully invested Lucina would hardly be able to compete with the cancer they just shat out for this year's Valentine, so why do they have to make it such a colossal pain in the ass to get more merges of her? Why the 3% base rate for a unit I just want to use out of personal affection rather than for esports homosexualry? I fricking hate IS and their petty homierdliness.

I just compared my +7 +25 DFs Fallen Tiki with my now new neutral uninvested Valentine Myrrh. Myrrh completely humilliates Tiki in everything except HP by just 4 points, and Spd which Myrrh doesn't care about, all while having a WAY better prf and exclusive C skill. Looking at older units is just demoralizing at this point because it doesn't even matter if we have Arcane weapons when now newer units are coming with exclusive ABC skills that make them competely superior to every single similar unit before them.

Merlinus actually ended up being a decent way to deal with Lyon. He has a ton of HP and extremely low attack which mitigates his precombat damage pretty significantly.

Do you like your floreted units? +10ing is a meme, and with all the extra shit from catch up mechanics like florets/attuned X slots and now emblems, it is way too hard to max it all out. It's really just used to shitpost, or show off if you aren't some whale going for high tiers. If you think you would get joy out of spoiling those units then go for it, but if you wouldn't then don't worry about it.

Hate to say it, but omnitanking is dead. My +10 Special 4 Henriette doesn't get the job done anymore... And she's even running Armored Beacon + Eclipse. It's more of a rarity to be able to tank things, and the two best Far Save tanks are Brave Corrin and Winter Byleth. If you're dead set on it, I'd suggest only running Offense Fortress, Escape Ladder, and bonus structure so you only need to bait one unit on Turn 1. If you have to tank two enemies, pray the second doesn't double and you won't need to rely on Maria's revive more than once.

Can't go wrong with Cyril, he scores well and it's always good to have an archer in Arena,especially in water season because he easily deletes L!Camillas on PP. At max investment he can also reliably kill tanky stuff like brave Corrin.
The other teammate should be a blue unit, preferably melee so you can benefit from the score boost of the DC seal. Arion should be pretty good even if you aren't running other fliers on the team and thanks to his prf he sort of has 3 mov like Ninian.

I don't think winter edelgard has bad fodder, specially compared to the ones before. With the 5 skill inheritance you can get atk/def prime + armored blaze/def res ploy 3 all in one go, which is pretty good for building a merge project armor for pve (specially if you pair it with something like nabata hawkeye's lance or wind fuga's club)

This fight was cancer. Having to fight the 2 strongest tanks in the game at max investment on defense tiles was not fun. First time I had to use items in AA in like a year.
This may be a thing only I care about but why haven't they uped the barrack space by now? Max is 1100 spaces and we've already reached 1000+ heroes already. I'll gladly spend a few orbs to increase my barrack space if they do implement more space, I'm kinda tired of having to go put any extras in my reserves/turning them into manuals.
Also I should be able to search for skills/units in my barracks AND reserves at the same time, theres no reason I should have to search for skills to no avail in skill inheritance, exit the inherit menu, open my reserves, search there, then transfer the unit I want out, especially with 1000+ units. Manuals take up no space yet I can still search them up without going back and forth through the barracks and reserves
I'm just waiting for HM to increase to 10k and at that point I'm going to assume that's the highest it'll go and finally kill off all my fodder into manuals after capping their HM even if I only have 1 copy of them. I'm looking forward to all the space I'll be getting.
there certainly aren't 1000 useful characters, i haven't had any problems by putting anyone with useless fodder/gameplay into reserves instead

with the damage mitigation in play it depends on who is attacking. at base +10/+25 he sits at 65 spd if all his effects are in play, before buffs and skills are included. he will will 59 atk if a spd boon is used so it depends on how much of a glass cannon the attacker is or if they have a sweep effect.

Always speed. It's much more likely for a few points of extra speed to make a difference, especially with R!Lucina currently having the highest base speed of any unit in the game.
(Exceptions prove the rule of course. Ploy users might prefer Res over Spd, etc. But that's not relevant for Lucina and tons of other speedsters.)
Honestly wouldn't recommend traiting a Rearmed hero until they are max merged otherwise if you decide to fodder off them later you'd be required to merge the traited copy into a new copy to pass off skills you inherited to them. This is assuming you gave the current copy you have skills to inherit.
You dont have to merge them in a new copy, you can merge a fresh one in a already build one for the same effect.

It's partially exaggerated, I mean Claude can still inflict Gravity and Canto away so that's cool but like, three of the current banner units alone have DR pierce (50% from Myrrh and Lyon, full from Ephraim)
Emblem Marth has 50% DR pierce, all the Winter units have full pierce, so unfortunately, Claude wouldn't be able to initiate or exchange blows against them without dying, so if he doesn't one shot, he just gets one shot in return

There are several ways to get around it I believe.

I was curious for a while if excess precombat special charge beat Scowl like that or if Scowl activated afterwards to guarantee foe specials wouldn't be fully precharged. It's sad to see Scowl lose like that. It should function better to guarantee you won't take a special to the face on the first hit of combat.
I feel like I've had Winter Dimitri still charge No Quarter despite facing Scowl, so it's kind of like

These threads have gotten too whiny recently, even if I agree that powercreep has been going overboard this year.
But I can't be bothered to care too much, to this day, the most common shit I see in Arena is still Duo Chrom, NY Dagr and Ninja FCorrin and too many people don't bother updating their AR defenses (myself included)
Chaos season is the only defense I bother playing around with since you have free reign without worrying about blessings. I don't roll for Mythics just for the sake of AR score, which means I don't have units that allow you a 7th slot on your defense team on Dark/Astra seasons so I don't feel bothered making them when I can't even deploy the max amount of units. Offense, however, is not too bad for me to deal with. Most defenses I get matched with seem to be made by people that don't take the mode too seriously and I've never gone through all my ladders in AR in the "alternating VoH" tier.
Same deal with Arena. I can't get T21 unless I have a +10 bonus unit since I don't roll for Legendaries I don't give a shit about and my highest scoring units are Duel 4 units, thus I just hang out in T18-19 since they give the same orb rewards as T20. Also people that put heavy emphasis on Arena as a testament of skill are ridiculous. T21 depends on how many orbs you spend on bonus units/high BST units more than anything. Clearing 5 maps without losing any units while also being allowed 2 free losses isn't that hard.

As someone who straddles tier 20-21 I'll say it is much more difficult than you let on to win 5 maps with the allowance of 2 loses. You are at the mercy of the bonus units available and whatever powercreep that is released recently. I think my team is decently strong but some months when IS decides to drop a busted unit those weeks/month can be absolute hell especially when they add high mobility nukes or Super tanks who can brush off attacks that would kill previously released tanks. Then imagine having to kill these units with sometimes subpar bonus units each match forcing a surrender or reset if they are too powerful for your bonus unit to kill.
Have a Dual Ploy 3 unit on your core. Makes getting the bonus unit kill a gorillion times easier.

Byleth's biggest counter is any physical unit with Desperation; he'll pretty much kill anything that relies on DR to survive and most units will be getting their specials off on the second hit so they'll only have to deal with 40% DR instead of 80% DR.
Personally, in Summoner Duels, I just overcome him with instant AoE Legendary Camilla since her pre-combat damage is ridiculously powerful.
Either way, Mystic Boost is garbage on him. One of the HP+5, Res+3, Stat+3 seals would be better than that.

Only if you're sure you'll keep her up-to-date as the years go by. I have a few grail +10s that I almost never used after initially merging them up and kinda regret it. I'd try to avoid spending resources "just because you have them".
She's currently the best breath support unit for a galeforce setup because the other breath support units can't run galeforce themselves, in that context all she really needs is WoM3 and Galeforce.

I shudder at an Edelgard with the hard hitting damage of Dimitri, the ability to get 80% DR on first hit and then gravity adjacent units, and raging storm to get another turn. To rub more into the player wounds the unit would leave a trail of fire tiles, inflict exposure (to copy engage poison effect), and the unit has 100% DR against all ranged units first attack gg for slow units that somehow don't outspeed the unit.

I know you guys like to complain about Omni-tanking being dead but this is how you should be supporting your tank. I bet the most of you just move tank into range and end turn that isn't going to work nowadays. You need to be debuffing the foes as much as possible if possible (Freyr is the GFY unit). And you have to be giving your tank stats preferably from more than two spaces away if the opponent is running Ninja Snacki. Also use the stone Vein if possible it'll save your life if you get hit by stray specials.
Well anyway prior to hitting the record button my tank blocked Nabata Igrene AoE and Nabata Altina who hit her special and did no damage. Their other unit was legendary Robin who I cancelled his skill with his father running ploy 3.

if you're willing to invest with a darting blow echo instead, then finish+spd smoke works much better, because healing keeps DR potent and your A well then be dual phase
nyx only gets DR in enemy phase from her weapon against magic and staff though
given the state of the game I dont see enemy phase being very possible or plausible though. So im just trying to stack the PP player phase to power up ginnugap to kill on the follow up. the spd smoke 4 would have to only useful if danced for another attack

In arena you can't be bumped up only down. The only reason a person stays in a tier is due to many others receiving the same score which "expands" the range. So the only realistic way for you to get tier 21 is to use better scoring units or to bless the current heroes your using.
So much for rolling V!Lucina. Any idea when she might next be run on a sparkable banner? Apparently the game has decided that I have to pay the full 160 orbs minimum for every copy.

I've completed several seasonal units. It just takes saving orbs until they return the following year. My best strategy to save is to only use half of your monthly orbs for whatever banner you want the rest you hold for that seasonal unit to return. By the time they come back you should have 1k+ of orbs hopefully. And assuming you don't get unlucky you should get them in the orbs you have.
I don't think she'll get another sparkable banner, unless they put her on HoF again or something.
Her banner will eventually join the 4% rate club, but that's like 2 years away, assuming the game even lives that long.

Her actual banner gets a rerun in a few days I think. If you're going to spend anything, you might as well wait for it. But I'm not sure even that is worth it.
It's not going to have focus charge without Feh pass, is it? Because as you can see, I'm up on two charges for the HoF banner already. Not that it has to mean much, given that I was pity broken three times on my way to 40, but it might still be the better starting point vs no focus charge at all.
All banners(that have off focus 5* chance, anyway) have focus charges, I think.
I guess it depends on how many orbs you can access. If you can somehow grind enough orbs(or if you're willing to pay for them) to have a decent chance to get a 5* it might be worth it to try getting one more Lucina out of this banner. If not, then I probably wouldn't take the risk, but in that case I'm not sure that having 2 extra weeks to get orbs will be of much help anyway.
I was looking at the current Valentine banner for reference which only gives focus charge and spark with Feh pass, but now it dawns on me that the same rules don't apply to reruns. Anyway, I'll go grind some more and see hoe many orbs I can scrape together before I go mad from the tedium.

For the love of God, don't fall for the +10 meme if you aren't whaling which by all appearances you don't seem to do. If you sparked Lucina then all you need are 100 fruits for a Spd boon and 4,000 divine codes to get her manual which you can use as a free merge for negating the bane. Conserve your orbs. If you actually want to USE Lucina and not just merge her, you'll get far more mileage out of rolling for premium fodder. Depending on the final AHR lineup you could use your orbs to roll for e.g. Edelgard to give Lucina Armored Blaze. Or wait for Near and Far Save 4 to come out. Unless you're exceptionally lucky you WILL regret to roll on that banner any further.

Isn't all RNG in video games seeded? I thought current technology was unable to make things truly random so seeds are necessary to give the illusion of randomness. Whether IS manipulates seeds is a different story though but I hardly find that to be likely at all.
I haven't looked at the FEH Summoning Patent in years, but it theoretically could use a multitude of variables such as time summoning initiated, time account was created, etc to make something as random as it could possibly be.
I'll laugh if the seed was determined the same as Engage's seed was calculated when rolling the ring gacha which was based off the amount of enemies encountered. By abusing this and looking at the rarity prior you could guarantee a specific hero showing up at the rarity of choice.

Frostbite Mirror takes all damage reduced into account for damage calculation, so you'd be losing out on the 50% Spurn DR versus the 30% Potent DR plus the flat 5 damage that Spurn 4 gives when defensive specials trigger (doesn't require you to be under an HP threshold, just have a defensive special go off). She's got Frostbite Mirror charged all the time, so you wouldn't be getting anything special out of an extra attack since she deals most of her damage from reflection.
I don't think it's worth it to swap to Potent 4.

People LOVE Seth and I bet most people couldn't say anything about him apart from "he's loyal" and "he was epic in the Prologue when he survived Valter", but in gameplay he fricks Sacred Stones sideways so people love him.
At least Seth fans played Sacred Stones. Halvan is one of my favorites and he has close to no personality, so I understand what you mean, but 99% of Reinhardt's fans haven't touched FE5, and his popularity amongst secondaries affects FE5's treatment by FEH's devs. As an FE5 fan, it sucks that Finn nor Eyvel have gotten alts at all, Linoan and Dean aren't even in the game at all, Olwen has half the amount of alts as Reinhardt and even Leif, the game's protagonist, has less alts that him. I've seen people use different definitions of it all over the place. "X Character is only popular because they're a broken!!! they're actually shit!!", or "X character is only popular because they have big breasts, nobody would care otherwise!!" and many more.
Being a good unit is a common way people bond with a character in any FE game, you'll often hear that reason a lot on a list of reasons when someone explains why a character is their favorite. Reinhardt just lucked out in FEH as he was busted when SI became a thing, and was 4* unit so everyone could get him. People will come up with reasons to shit on the guy for being successful.

Vital Astra or Godlike Reflexes?
Vita astra is pretty much obsolete these days. Non-special DR piercing is becoming more and more common, and until they (inevitably) begin making skills that can pierce special DR, GLR is pretty much mandatory.
VA is basically a budget skill these days
Guees I better start saving scrolls to get Lyn's manual then. Idk if changing Neph's TP4 for Spd Smoke 4 will affect GLR's charge.
Having to initiate once isn't that big a deal, that said, the ideal setup-less loadout is gonna have buffer 4 on your b slot anyway.
I've seen some builds with Close Call 4 used instead. I don't have a Severa to fodder so it'll have to do until she comes back in a future banner.
TP4 allows you to keep up GLR with marth ring even if the enemy has guard, wich buffer wouldn't allow and i don't think you wanna run both. buffer is also only on turn 1 which means you can get the charge disrupted.
How does No Quarter compare?
No quarter is a strictly offensive option. Not really comparable on the same metric. It is excellent, but it needs a unit that isn't gonna take many hits.

I think Winter Marth with his refine is the one exception if he wins the Spd check, it's both Vantage and an enemy phase Desperation.
Emblem Marth is also able to enemy phase Desperation too, although Vantage is a bit out of reach (since it would require giving up Potent 4 for those triple attacks)
Thankfully his remix fixed it, but L!Seliph also had enemy phase desperation
Seliph's remix is so insanely good, it's shocking that I never see him. He hard checks anything I could chuck at him, shy of blue defense tanks.
Offensive units are getting way to strong for any tank to keep up and prebattle damage is getting pretty popular
The only thing Seliph's got now is his Null C-Disrupt, but that won't save him against say Lyon who can carve off half of Seliph's HP and his DR in the process

Hard to tell. It's a fact that Nintendo has been pulling out of the mobile market, the downfall of MKT being a recent high profile example that no title is safe. But maybe IS are allowed to do their own thing independent of Nintendo's overall corporate strategy?
Then there's the more obvious problem that IS keeps making FEH more and more unappealing to casual players and minnow/dolphin tier spenders, shrinking the playerbase on top of the normal background attrition rate owed to FEH's sheer age. If this was any other gacha, I'd reckon that the end must be nigh. But the one redeeming quality of FEH - which may successfully keep it alive for many more years - is that it's not just a gacha game which needs to turn a profit, it's also originally meant as a marketing ploy for the Fire Emblem franchise as a whole. So if there's any hope for this game's future, it lies with IS's presumed willingness to keep it running as a neverending commercial rather than a self-sustaining business operation of its own.
FEH is still way above where MK Tour was when they pulled the plug.
And I feel like if anything it's the other way around, where FEH gets a big boost from new FE games. The only issue it has recently is that Engage's cast failed to be as popular as IS would like.

I'm wondering if the hero quotes in the main story is because IS could not have a set release date planned, and if they decide last minute to introduce a skill that counters current meta they then have the ability freely move up or push back releasing certain characters.
Is there a good combo to use prime skills or are they just garbage? Got a Dimitri and Claude to fodder but can't find a way to get the buffs for the counters to activate.
From what I understand it's all dependant on the weapon. I had an idea for a build using Fuga's club and Assault Troop, the last buff can be outsourced
So, to use prime skills the teammates are the ones who should give the buffs, rather than the unit?
Ideally the unit should supply most of them. Claude and Dimitri aren't exactly comparable to regular units, but they supply their own buffs and easily hit their marks
In an ideal world, you'd supply them yourself. That being said, L!Eliwood or Young Eliwood can grant 3 buffs, so there's something to be said for team building.
They're really good on Infantry units if you can nab Pledge and Oath Echo (reminder to vote for Peony in AHR). You would just need two more status effects, and a Harmonic button or an Askr/Veyle deployment would let you hit that.

Dual audio is fine, I use it a lot myself, the problem is when people think they're better than someone else for wanting or using Japanese voices

Hortensia came earlier than I was expecting. I just wish she wasn't a rearmed unit since that means her weapon had to be kept in check a little since it's inheritable to any staff user. On the plus side, since I plan on +10'ing her, that means all my staff units will get a good weapon buff, so that's something to look forward to.
