I feel like Scarlet Blaze is the best written route of the three. They wrote Edelgard a lot better this time around and we actually get to see them go at Those Who Slither in Dark, The Church, and The Kingdom.
The problem is that Fodlan is infinitely worse because the slitherers are ousted at the start. In all three routes, their forces cause untold mayhem and kill countless people because they were pushed into a corner and had to lash out. Despite all of the criticism about her original story in Three Houses, it made far more sense for her to unify Fodlan before attempting to dismantle the slitherers.
I'm not really enjoying the game so far. Only Shez and spear people feel good to use. The missions are varied and Ferdinando von Aegir looks great but that's pretty much it.
You can try the Thief line too, while they're lacking in aoe, they strike and move fast.
Brawlers strike fast but a big problem is it's very easy to get locked into attacks with long animations. You've gotta learn the moveset and use those long animation moves only when juggling enemies.

This is true in a lot of physical classes. It's why you can't go wrong with weapon art > guard break > critical rush. I think only Lifeforce mages aren't reliant on this. >murder as a brawler
You can use Balthus and uncapped Vajra Mushti and he can wreck even without critical rushes. If not, guard breaking as you've mentioned is the way to go. I always fish for the guard break, but once the opponent is juggled, or if you have 3 fist icons, you can start with Y to fire off empowered Xs.
Is this the first Warriors without postgame? the first two had the classic stages and AoC had a LOT too.
Here I cant even use Rhea, Sothis, Arval and Gatekeeper except in already beaten stages, what the frick And well, the non-nintendo musou are also packed
I really don't know why they dropped the ball that hard on extra modes after we got Hyrule Warriors which is fricking packed with extra modes and maps.

If anything edelgards actions make perfect sense when she has firsthand experience that if you try to reform feudalism peacefully the aristocrats will due horrible things to you and your family. Hell the same thing happened to Dimitri's dad, tried to reform feudalism a little, the aristocrats immediately murdered him and most of his family. Edelgard has literally two examples in living memory of what happens when you try and be a hippie peacenik like Dimitri.

Dimitri is peaceful because his nature is violent. As in extremely, frighteningly violent. Dimitri's entire character is trying to avoid violence as much as he possibly can because he knows whenever he gives into it he never stops. We see what the worst version of that is in Houses. He's able to keep it mildly under control in Hopes but it's still translates into him trying to solo the entire war even at the expense of his health, both physical and mental. By the by, even though Dimitri is willing to listen to what his people have to say about their own futures do not forget what he did to the three Lords that murdered his father and what he was going to do to Edelgard if he doesn't die at Grondor Field or if Byleth doesn't save him from himself. Stop confusing having empathy for being a pussy. Dimitri would 100% fold you inside out and push the remains on his Lance if he thought you were a threat to his people and he'd do it with a smile on his face.

Dimitri is the political and military linchpin of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. His function is to act as a guide to his vassals in times of peace and as a general in times of war. But the only thing you should think of when you think of Dimitri is love of king and country

Apply all the headcanon you wish, Ferdinand's father is clearly portrayed as the actual bad guy, collaborating with slitherers and he supposedly led the "noble rebellion".
We barely know anything about Hrym's other than they tried to secede their territories to another country - stopping them was fully within the empire's right and then their lands were given to Aegir who basically ruined them.

Yes that’s how a government works. Checks and balances between the ruler and those in positions of power like the nobility. The Emperor having absolute power with no checks is a recipe for disaster.
Consolidating all power around himself doesn’t help anyone, and three of the Seven in Gerth, Hevring, Bergliez supported the Coup while not being corrupt like Ludwig/Varley or Arundel were. They even make a point Gerths all about the stability of the empire, and Ludwig had interfered in his duties. Or Varley digging into Hevrings role as a minister.

I'm slowly pushing my way through Azure Gleam but from the few instances of her I see I actually like Edelgard better in this game. I was actually slightly offended when I saw she lost her voice when Duke Aegir took control of the Emperor.
I also really like this dialogue. I said I was going to do Golden Wildfire after I was done with this but I kind of want to check out Scarlet Blaze

Is the dark creator sword the best weapon for post-game Shez, assuming you went Asura? You unlock crests and can theoretically use any relic but none of them seem as strong as a +100 dark creator sword.

Shez has some game, shame the style of the story prevents them from getting S ranks, but it does at least allow for better support quality when not every A support is supposed to end with "And then they banged"
What's the best way to grind supports? I've played for hours but haven't advanced past chapter 4 yet because I keep replaying the first mission trying to unlock supports between characters.

How strong do the Houses Lords feel compared to the Hopes Lords?
3Hopes makes Hegemon a threat level seeming to surpass even Nemesis and the Immaculate One. Which makes Boar Dimitri seemingly fricking strong. However, he had Byleth.
Hopes Dimitri seems strong as frick in every cutscene he's appeared in for me, even Edelgard not wanting to frick with that in AG. So far Edelgard and Claude feel weaker. Don't know why.

Dimitri says it himself, Claude agrees and I doubt Edelgard disagrees, he's basically the strongest on a one on one (for normal, non experiments/goddess) in the continent.
Dimitri is physically the strongest mortal out of everyone. Even within the context of houses Dimitri's most defining feature is his absolutely psychotic strength. This is the guy who is entirely incapable of sewing because he breaks the needles just by touching them. He swings weapons so hard that they shatter on impact. Raphael is a normal dude that just loves to train and maximize his physical strength as much as he possibly can. He did Dimitri's training regimen for a couple of days and genuinely believed he was going to die. Dimitri casually runs with boulders in his hands every morning and is on record to have picked up carriages, horses and all, with his bare hands. In the mask off scene Dimitri killed four men with a single swipe of his Lance and he crushed someone's head in, again with his bare hands, through his mental helmet.
Dimitri's physical strength is frankly insane. So I guess the balance that out Dimitri also isn't particularly subtle. He's very blunt and upfront which doesn't make him a great politician even if it makes him an excellent Soldier.
Oh absolutely. That's what all of his classmates say. Again speaking only for houses because I haven't finished hopes it's interesting to listen to the commentary of the students. Ferdinand is actually disturbed by Dimitri even though he thinks he has potential. Ferdinand believes Dimitri is way too emotional and that ruler should be detached from their emotions. Because Dimitri really is the type to burn bridges for the sake of people even at the expense of a politically beneficial relationship. Ingrid believes that Dimitri is too soft because Dimitri is incapable of sending his loved ones to die on his behalf. Dimitri would sooner go out there himself disregarding the fact that he is the king and the entire country rests on his back. He can't die, his life is quantifiably more valuable than everyone else's, but no one can convince Dimitri of that. But, as multiple students say, that's why they follow him. Because they know he's not bullshitting when he says that he does everything for them. Even though from the outside looking in it can be very scary to have a ruler like that.

Claude doesn't kill shit.
1 on 1 combat, Nemesis walks over anyone in the cast and that includes Seiros who is now weakened because of the peace period.
Kinda like how Sothis makes Byleth lose if they take over but support with Shez shows that Byleth could just steamroll Shez by themselves.
Dimitri is the strongest lord, then Edelgard then Claude.
And if you're to make a list with major characters:
Nemesis > Byleth=Seiros > Dimitri > Edelgard >> Claude
You're supposed to ng+ that. They even give you an item to skip battles. You can basically run through all the other routes without even doing a single fight with just chores and whistles.

I wouldn't even say it's just the pegabawds. The sword kittens are also guilty of this. Ayra, Fir, Marisa, etc. And for the Knights even Mathilda wears heels and Isadora doesn't wear pants. As well as Amelia's combat skirt. I think the general point I'm pushing towards is that the Fire Emblem series has always been more anime than anything else so calling out characters that look like cheerleaders with armor just seems like screaming into the void.

Lads, got a question about the main game. Is it always better to put a unit in master class instead of staying in advanced/special? Feels like some of them lose their specialty if i forced them to master
Some master classes are straight upgrades (Falcon Knight, Wyvern Lord)
Some master classes are straight ass (Mortal Savant, Holy Knight)
Some master classes could be good but are too hard to get into (Dark Knight)
And others are legitimate side-grades (War Master vs Grappler, Gremory vs Dark Flier/Valkyrie)

These ones are the ones im mostly unsure of. For example is it worth it to switch balthus from war monk to war master, or petra from something like assassin to mortal savant
The only thing Balthus really gets out of war monk is brawl avoid +20, so it's a "master and move on" class for him. The real decision for Balthus is Grappler (better move because it takes lower terrain penalties and has Fierce Iron Fist) and War Master (Higher stats, Crit +20, Quick Riposte). Fierce Iron Fist is really only that good in Maddening where you need player-phase nukes more, so if you're playing hard just leverage if you want the higher stats or higher movement in terrain.
Petra is easy, Assassin is far better than Mortal Savant. IS took too much out of MS because they overestimated how useful a physical unit with sub-par magic having access to magic was.

War Master is one of the most broken classes in the game. Only thing that competes is Wyvern/Falcon because of how broken flying plus canto is.

I'm on chapter 11 now and to be honest, while I was playing through the game, upgrading just never seemed important. It was common to find a damn rusted weapon that completely BTFO whatever you upgraded because not only was it at a high upgrade level, it possessed some weapon passives.
Hard to get into, bad for your healers because no innate skills for it, not good for physical Lance users, not good for your offensive mages because no black or dark tomefare.
It's a hard to class into class for an offensive white mage unit you don't have.
Marianne is really the only healer whose strengths lean towards it except her relic is a sword forcing you to split her focus 4 ways - 5 if you want to teach her black magic which you want to do since casts are limited.
Anyone who wants to be a pure healer should be using Physic/Fortify to stay out of range anyway so the extra movement doesn't mean much and if you want an offensive white mage they should be going Gremory.
Thing is without the loop glitch spreading a unit’s focus too thin isn’t a good idea as you want to unlock the s/s+ skills for the main weapons they use - magic and swords in Marianne’s case.
Except to go into Holy Knight she needs to train in riding and lance and the quickest way to level that up is going cavalier/paladin which stops her using magic. In isolation HK isn’t a bad class on paper but no one really wants to use it .

Is recruiting in Hopes as hard as it is in Houses? Seriously, people told me it was possible to recruit everyone on the first playthrough but other then characters you get automatically or by level up, I was only able to recruit two characters in my entire playthrough.
When timeskip happens around 11 or 12, it's over. How the hell am I supposed to get a C in Reason while the same time get those ranks in heavy armor, brawl, bow, and lance? Not to mention other recruits want a B in authority, one B in faith, while an impossible one wants a C in riding. I couldn't access riding in battle because I didn't have access to the seals until close to the timeskip.

Just make sure you do all the auxiliary maps to gain enough strategy points, and with that you'll always have enough points to recruit all recruitable characters in a chapter
Just finished Azure Gleam. I'm very dissatisfied.
1. Hubert and Ferdinand just vanish off the face of the earth.
2. Can recruit literally every human being you cross paths with except Caspar for some reason.
3. If you recruit Byleth, Edelgard and Dimitri reconcile a bit in the optional chapter. But then at the end when Edelgard has clearly regressed to a child and calls out to Dimitri, he just turns around and walks off. Dimitri has always been sentimental about El, why does he suddenly give less of a frick now that she's the girl he remembers than in Azure Moon when she was a tyrant?
4. Arval plotline went absolutely nowhere. He's just a dude who made a copy of himself so he could do Thales' job but less effectively? No payoff to the golden route teasing it includes, and it's unclear how they even escaped Zahras since Arval says that killing him won't magically teleport them back.
5. Why the frick isn't there a Slitherer route?With Shez being a Slitherer, Byleth being a villain and Sothis being more of a b***h, there's no reason not to side with the Slitherers. They clearly have a good reason.
6. Why is Claude anti-church now? He attributes the crest system to them but Rhea doesn't even like crests, they are literally the hearts of her mutilated kin, she probably wants them gone too.
7. In a support conversation with Ashe, he gets a letter with information about Shez's mom, but then never shares it or says anything about what was on it. What was the fricking point?
8. Dimitri is just much less interesting if he never goes insane. That was the entire appeal of his character arc, pulling him back from the brink.
9. Why did they show us Hegemon Edelgard in a cutscene only for her to never be utilized again? Nothing was stopping Thales from transforming her at the end.
10. Ultimately, it's the exact same ending as Three Houses except Edelgard is mindbroken instead of dead and it more explicitly shows Dimitri killing the Slitherers. What was the point?
Azure Gleam was great, easily the best route as usual. Only Edeltrannies pretend there's anything wrong with it because their own waifu's route was shit, as usual.

The problem is that Fodlan is infinitely worse because the slitherers are ousted at the start. In all three routes, their forces cause untold mayhem and kill countless people because they were pushed into a corner and had to lash out. Despite all of the criticism about her original story in Three Houses, it made far more sense for her to unify Fodlan before attempting to dismantle the slitherers.

I'm not really enjoying the game so far. Only Shez and spear people feel good to use. The missions are varied and Ferdinando von Aegir looks great but that's pretty much it.
You can try the Thief line too, while they're lacking in aoe, they strike and move fast.
Brawlers strike fast but a big problem is it's very easy to get locked into attacks with long animations. You've gotta learn the moveset and use those long animation moves only when juggling enemies.

You can use Balthus and uncapped Vajra Mushti and he can wreck even without critical rushes. If not, guard breaking as you've mentioned is the way to go. I always fish for the guard break, but once the opponent is juggled, or if you have 3 fist icons, you can start with Y to fire off empowered Xs.

What's the best way to grind supports? I've played for hours but haven't advanced past chapter 4 yet because I keep replaying the first mission trying to unlock supports between characters.

By not being a dumbass like you. You'd have easily grinded them out with training, chores, and food hours or days ago if you did things proper.

How strong do the Houses Lords feel compared to the Hopes Lords?
3Hopes makes Hegemon a threat level seeming to surpass even Nemesis and the Immaculate One. Which makes Boar Dimitri seemingly fricking strong. However, he had Byleth.
Hopes Dimitri seems strong as frick in every cutscene he's appeared in for me, even Edelgard not wanting to frick with that in AG. So far Edelgard and Claude feel weaker. Don't know why.

Dimitri says it himself, Claude agrees and I doubt Edelgard disagrees, he's basically the strongest on a one on one (for normal, non experiments/goddess) in the continent.
Dimitri is physically the strongest mortal out of everyone. Even within the context of houses Dimitri's most defining feature is his absolutely psychotic strength. This is the guy who is entirely incapable of sewing because he breaks the needles just by touching them. He swings weapons so hard that they shatter on impact. Raphael is a normal dude that just loves to train and maximize his physical strength as much as he possibly can. He did Dimitri's training regimen for a couple of days and genuinely believed he was going to die. Dimitri casually runs with boulders in his hands every morning and is on record to have picked up carriages, horses and all, with his bare hands. In the mask off scene Dimitri killed four men with a single swipe of his Lance and he crushed someone's head in, again with his bare hands, through his mental helmet.
Dimitri's physical strength is frankly insane. So I guess the balance that out Dimitri also isn't particularly subtle. He's very blunt and upfront which doesn't make him a great politician even if it makes him an excellent Soldier.

Oh absolutely. That's what all of his classmates say. Again speaking only for houses because I haven't finished hopes it's interesting to listen to the commentary of the students. Ferdinand is actually disturbed by Dimitri even though he thinks he has potential. Ferdinand believes Dimitri is way too emotional and that ruler should be detached from their emotions. Because Dimitri really is the type to burn bridges for the sake of people even at the expense of a politically beneficial relationship. Ingrid believes that Dimitri is too soft because Dimitri is incapable of sending his loved ones to die on his behalf. Dimitri would sooner go out there himself disregarding the fact that he is the king and the entire country rests on his back. He can't die, his life is quantifiably more valuable than everyone else's, but no one can convince Dimitri of that. But, as multiple students say, that's why they follow him. Because they know he's not bullshitting when he says that he does everything for them. Even though from the outside looking in it can be very scary to have a ruler like that.
He also swam in armor, beyond his tard strength he's also immensely fit.

Look at the skills the master class offers vs advanced, and decide from there
It's been a while but I'm pretty sure master classes have better skill caps, so generally yeah.
Some master classes are straight upgrades (Falcon Knight, Wyvern Lord)
Some master classes are straight ass (Mortal Savant, Holy Knight)
Some master classes could be good but are too hard to get into (Dark Knight)
And others are legitimate side-grades (War Master vs Grappler, Gremory vs Dark Flier/Valkyrie)

These ones are the ones im mostly unsure of. For example is it worth it to switch balthus from war monk to war master, or petra from something like assassin to mortal savant
The only thing Balthus really gets out of war monk is brawl avoid +20, so it's a "master and move on" class for him. The real decision for Balthus is Grappler (better move because it takes lower terrain penalties and has Fierce Iron Fist) and War Master (Higher stats, Crit +20, Quick Riposte). Fierce Iron Fist is really only that good in Maddening where you need player-phase nukes more, so if you're playing hard just leverage if you want the higher stats or higher movement in terrain.
Petra is easy, Assassin is far better than Mortal Savant. IS took too much out of MS because they overestimated how useful a physical unit with sub-par magic having access to magic was.
I think they did it to make Enlightened One look cooler in comparison.
War Master is one of the most broken classes in the game. Only thing that competes is Wyvern/Falcon because of how broken flying plus canto is.

I'm on chapter 11 now and to be honest, while I was playing through the game, upgrading just never seemed important. It was common to find a damn rusted weapon that completely BTFO whatever you upgraded because not only was it at a high upgrade level, it possessed some weapon passives.
What are you doing? Upgrade all Rusted and throw everything else away for more Smithing Stones. You only get millions of them

Hard to get into, bad for your healers because no innate skills for it, not good for physical Lance users, not good for your offensive mages because no black or dark tomefare.
It's a hard to class into class for an offensive white mage unit you don't have.
It's ass for both healers and physical types, shame that it looks so cool on Byleth
Marianne is really the only healer whose strengths lean towards it except her relic is a sword forcing you to split her focus 4 ways - 5 if you want to teach her black magic which you want to do since casts are limited.
Anyone who wants to be a pure healer should be using Physic/Fortify to stay out of range anyway so the extra movement doesn't mean much and if you want an offensive white mage they should be going Gremory.
doesn't she get a skill that makes her sword scale off of res? Also her relic is rank e so it's not exactly hard to use.
Thing is without the loop glitch spreading a unit’s focus too thin isn’t a good idea as you want to unlock the s/s+ skills for the main weapons they use - magic and swords in Marianne’s case.
Except to go into Holy Knight she needs to train in riding and lance and the quickest way to level that up is going cavalier/paladin which stops her using magic. In isolation HK isn’t a bad class on paper but no one really wants to use it .

Is recruiting in Hopes as hard as it is in Houses? Seriously, people told me it was possible to recruit everyone on the first playthrough but other then characters you get automatically or by level up, I was only able to recruit two characters in my entire playthrough.
When timeskip happens around 11 or 12, it's over. How the hell am I supposed to get a C in Reason while the same time get those ranks in heavy armor, brawl, bow, and lance? Not to mention other recruits want a B in authority, one B in faith, while an impossible one wants a C in riding. I couldn't access riding in battle because I didn't have access to the seals until close to the timeskip.

Just make sure you do all the auxiliary maps to gain enough strategy points, and with that you'll always have enough points to recruit all recruitable characters in a chapter
Just finished Azure Gleam. I'm very dissatisfied.
1. Hubert and Ferdinand just vanish off the face of the earth.
2. Can recruit literally every human being you cross paths with except Caspar for some reason.
3. If you recruit Byleth, Edelgard and Dimitri reconcile a bit in the optional chapter. But then at the end when Edelgard has clearly regressed to a child and calls out to Dimitri, he just turns around and walks off. Dimitri has always been sentimental about El, why does he suddenly give less of a frick now that she's the girl he remembers than in Azure Moon when she was a tyrant?
4. Arval plotline went absolutely nowhere. He's just a dude who made a copy of himself so he could do Thales' job but less effectively? No payoff to the golden route teasing it includes, and it's unclear how they even escaped Zahras since Arval says that killing him won't magically teleport them back.
5. Why the frick isn't there a Slitherer route?With Shez being a Slitherer, Byleth being a villain and Sothis being more of a b***h, there's no reason not to side with the Slitherers. They clearly have a good reason.
6. Why is Claude anti-church now? He attributes the crest system to them but Rhea doesn't even like crests, they are literally the hearts of her mutilated kin, she probably wants them gone too.
7. In a support conversation with Ashe, he gets a letter with information about Shez's mom, but then never shares it or says anything about what was on it. What was the fricking point?
8. Dimitri is just much less interesting if he never goes insane. That was the entire appeal of his character arc, pulling him back from the brink.
9. Why did they show us Hegemon Edelgard in a cutscene only for her to never be utilized again? Nothing was stopping Thales from transforming her at the end.
10. Ultimately, it's the exact same ending as Three Houses except Edelgard is mindbroken instead of dead and it more explicitly shows Dimitri killing the Slitherers. What was the point?
