It's funny how with certain dialogue choice, Shez basically forgets they're a mercenary and becomes a Dimitri fanatic on the level of Felix and Dedue. I quite enjoyed this change.
I'm in the same boat. The game feels so incredibly slow without Shez' ability to dash. When I unlocked Sothis and Arval, I tried them out but was shocked by how damn slow mages move in this game. Yuri's relic to give mages cavalry speed might help solve that but then you'd take damage without the crest and you might not qualify for S ranks.

The only way you'll get enjoyment out of this game is if you play Three Houses all the way from the Blue house to Crimson Flower in the red house.
Otherwise don't bother. The extra lore and interactions are the only payoff for this game.

raphael is super dumb, and you will alwyas be second after Dimitri for dedue. So I don't know. Neither seems like a good choice
I gave it to Ferdinand in my first playthrough. I like his personal, but nothing beats Shez's dash so I didn't use his unique item. The main reason to give the Whistle is the few extra lines you get from that character before the credits roll.

Edelgard isn't trying to destroy the faith entirely (yet) she's just trying to get rid of Rhea's church, run by alien lizards and their "goddess". Establishing the Southern Church provides the religious people under her rule a place to flock to in lieu of the "false" Central Church.

A "goddess" is whatever you define it to be. Sothis being "a goddess" is not an inherently good thing, and being the progenitor doesn't automatically put her in the right in all dealings with her creations.

The empire kicked out the church a hundred years earlier and suddenly Edelgard cares enough about the faith of her people that she creates her own church?
Can someone tell me the purpose of resetting your level? I've been messing around in the game and I don't really understand why you would ever do this.
Presumably to re-roll stat gains to get better stats. But even during a later chapter, when you're guaranteed to get a choice to make one stat increase higher when leveling, resetting didn't seem to be worth the cost.
How can you frick your levels? Pretty much all the stats are useful except for str on the exclusive caster classes and the game has stat increasing items.
It's a musou, even the normal Dynasty Warriors & Samurai Warriors games have level reset. It's for people who play the games so much that they don't mind gaining all the levels again. I prefer that over not being able to level reset like in Dragon's Dogma. Dogshit gets so damn boring because it wasn't designed around maxed out characters but there's no way reset your lvl.
Why do certain characters get Death Blow on Brigand and others the really good skill the one you do more dmg but take more damage? I wanted to give that skill to Shez but he gets Death Blow instead??

WTF is wrong with Claude? His plot makes no damn sense. The war would actually end faster if he just let Edel die but for some reason he's convinced that Rhea is the reason why Fodlan is shit. Even though after you kill her, the war still goes on with the Empire. He could've let Edel die first and then send out some assassins to take out Rhea. I find it kinda funny how they point out that the Empire is directionless without Edel. Which sounds like damn near every tyrant regime in history. I liked Claud in 3 Houses, but he's fricking moronic in 3 Copes. A riot happened in his fed so he cancels the invasion of the Kingdom right when he was seconds away from winning. Almyrans attacked so he abandons the attack on the Empire right before he's about to take it over. At least with that I could understand. He probably wouldn't have enough troops to spare just trying to keep the new Empire territory but the shit with the Kingdom is when I just fricking gave up on Claude's story. From the leaks they made him sound like a tactical mastermind similar to Zhuge Liang. In reality he's more like Ma Su. The only reason why Calude doesn't experience as big of a loss as Ma Su had is because he has plot armor in Shez.

So what shady things has the church actually done? Rhea's attempts at necromancy aside, I feel like the situation with Lord Lonato's son is the only blemish on their record. He conspired to kill her, but they feared that news going public would be disastrous, so they instead tied him to the duscar incident. But that only served to make people more distrustful of duscar.
Pretty much nothing, and the game goes out of it's way to show you how she worries for Cyril, how she doesn't impose ger faith on people (shamir, Catherine, Cyril), how she often goes out of her way to play with orphans and how she eagerly helps the Duscurian village where they are taking asylum. It's really fricking confusing because at this point is hard to tell if the devs legit want you to think she's evil while she acts almost like the most cartoonis definition of a saint
I'm just saying they did good on making them feel like a threat. on a standard hard run, Byleth outlevels you so much that he remains a threat all the way up to Jeralt's death. At that point, you unfortunately begin to outscale him drastically.
Does anyone bother switching characters in battle? I'm afraid I'm too conditioned from the oldest Dynasty Warriors games so I just use Shez the whole time, and their dash and warp abilities makes traversing the map inconsequential.
If I need Shez to stay in a particular section for some reason, then I'll send the nearest and most compatible unit available to kill the enemy, and swap to them to make sure it's done quick
I've just been using Mercedes in battle the entire time. She nearly one shots most units with ragnorak and one shots anything else with her special.
Even if I use units at her level with strong forged weapons they feel really really weak by comparison. I'm not sure why she became so powerful.
I can help but honestly wonder if Claude's final boss was swapped at some point in 3Hs because a ton of stuff he says there is now far more fricked up with 3 Hopes' context
The"context" is another timeline entirely. Nemesis makes sense for truth-seeking Claude because he's the final bastion of lies regarding Fodlan's history.
Because people wanted Seiros vs Nemesis the rematch despite it having no fricking purpose, the devs could've given us DLC where we play in the past of Fodlan if they really wanted.
The funny thing is they don't bother confirming it, even the ending scroll just say "the banished" in the same way the narration on Houses talked about Rhea and Byleth being gone for 5 years, it's basically up in the air whether they're alive or not, specially since the moles have a history of playing dead and fricking you over from the shadows down the line
Not to mention, whether Thales dies or not is ultimately irrelevant since many endings in 3hs confirm TWSITD returns years later after the main plot anyway

I really like what Hopes has done with the conflict in terms of how the war plays out. Like they actually have multiple fronts with different generals serving on it. Like in the West you have mercenary forces, Hevring, and Edelgard's main force while in the East you have Bergliez and Ferdinand. It makes it feel like an actual war with multiple fronts, the only other FE game I can remember doing something like this was Genealogy.
I like how there's still a sense of distrust whenever they're dealing with other nations even if they're fighting on the same side. Just because at the end of the day everyone knows that they are out for the protection of their own lands. It's not all about the power of friendship

They do but the north has a lot more to deal with so they cant devote too much attention to a region that has little more than a problem of nobles squabbling. Northern Faerghus is constantly fighting Sreng and worrying over resources. Western Faerghus is fine in terms of serious issues
It's also great seeing lots of enemy generals instead of Hubert 50 times. I have no idea why they didn't do stuff like making Ferdinand a major enemy in AM/VW in the first place. The recruitment system of 3H absolutely destroyed its potential when it came to Part 2.

Also, as much as I appreciate Lorenz's devotion to the Alliance, the way he speaks to his father and his foremost priority being his own house makes it fairly believable for him to accept surrender to the winning country. He doesn't feel wildly out of place in SB and he isn't miserable about it.

I think the musou gameplay itself also helps the war feel more like a war. Going into battle and using strategies and hearing the characters respond to battle developments as they happen makes them feel more like actual battles.

Lorewise the relics are pretty important weapons that can change the outcome of a battle. Makes sense that the Church keep them safe and locked at Garreg Mach if there is no one to wield it.

They tell you in-game that they wanted Miklan specifically because House Gautier are the masters of fortress defence because of Sreng and the assignment would be defending a fortress, Arianrhod.
Miklan even reaffirms this by saying he's had defence strategies drilled into his head since he was a child.
He has the right skills the only reason people are iffy about him is because he's a murderer and a rapist who enjoyed murder and rape.

In this support they were talking about sibling affection. It's a reference to how in the C support Mercedes says that she'll do what Ingrid's big brothers would do if they were here and ruffles her hair. The A support ends with Ingrid saying that she'll do the same and ruffling Mercedes hair. They're talking about sibling affection and it has literally no romantic connotations in-context.

But in that route, prior to the mission involving him, she actually confesses that she doesn't want her father to die and starts to relate to him due to him becoming like her and how he started fearing everything and hiding away.
In the Arval paralogue, it shows that the slitherers weren't fond of Nemesis but still refused to abandon him because he was their ally. They do seem to have some concept of loyalty even if they view humanity as nothing more than beasts. I would pay good money for a slitherer route DLC. The game has a real hard-on for making the church out to be villains so they might as well go all-in with the slitherers.

I'm in the same boat. The game feels so incredibly slow without Shez' ability to dash. When I unlocked Sothis and Arval, I tried them out but was shocked by how damn slow mages move in this game. Yuri's relic to give mages cavalry speed might help solve that but then you'd take damage without the crest and you might not qualify for S ranks.

The only way you'll get enjoyment out of this game is if you play Three Houses all the way from the Blue house to Crimson Flower in the red house.
Otherwise don't bother. The extra lore and interactions are the only payoff for this game.
As long as you've played BL and VW/SS you should be fine, mostly to get what the general plot is and the contrast between dimitris and claudes.

raphael is super dumb, and you will alwyas be second after Dimitri for dedue. So I don't know. Neither seems like a good choice

I gave it to Ferdinand in my first playthrough. I like his personal, but nothing beats Shez's dash so I didn't use his unique item. The main reason to give the Whistle is the few extra lines you get from that character before the credits roll.

Can someone tell me the purpose of resetting your level? I've been messing around in the game and I don't really understand why you would ever do this.
Presumably to re-roll stat gains to get better stats. But even during a later chapter, when you're guaranteed to get a choice to make one stat increase higher when leveling, resetting didn't seem to be worth the cost.
If you want to make your mage a fighter and vice versa, or fricked your levels while gathering skills when you were leveling other classes
How can you frick your levels? Pretty much all the stats are useful except for str on the exclusive caster classes and the game has stat increasing items.

It's a musou, even the normal Dynasty Warriors & Samurai Warriors games have level reset. It's for people who play the games so much that they don't mind gaining all the levels again. I prefer that over not being able to level reset like in Dragon's Dogma. Dogshit gets so damn boring because it wasn't designed around maxed out characters but there's no way reset your lvl.

WTF is wrong with Claude? His plot makes no damn sense. The war would actually end faster if he just let Edel die but for some reason he's convinced that Rhea is the reason why Fodlan is shit. I find it kinda funny how they point out that the Empire is directionless without Edel. Which sounds like damn near every tyrant regime in history. He probably wouldn't have enough troops to spare just trying to keep the new Empire territory but the shit with the Kingdom is when I just fricking gave up on Claude's story. From the leaks they made him sound like a tactical mastermind similar to Zhuge Liang. In reality he's more like Ma Su. The only reason why Calude doesn't experience as big of a loss as Ma Su had is because he has plot armor in Shez.

So what shady things has the church actually done? Rhea's attempts at necromancy aside, I feel like the situation with Lord Lonato's son is the only blemish on their record. Does anyone bother switching characters in battle? I'm afraid I'm too conditioned from the oldest Dynasty Warriors games so I just use Shez the whole time, and their dash and warp abilities makes traversing the map inconsequential.
If I need Shez to stay in a particular section for some reason, then I'll send the nearest and most compatible unit available to kill the enemy, and swap to them to make sure it's done quick
I've just been using Mercedes in battle the entire time. She nearly one shots most units with ragnorak and one shots anything else with her special.
Even if I use units at her level with strong forged weapons they feel really really weak by comparison. I'm not sure why she became so powerful.

I really like what Hopes has done with the conflict in terms of how the war plays out. Like they actually have multiple fronts with different generals serving on it. Like in the West you have mercenary forces, Hevring, and Edelgard's main force while in the East you have Bergliez and Ferdinand. It makes it feel like an actual war with multiple fronts, the only other FE game I can remember doing something like this was Genealogy.
I like how there's still a sense of distrust whenever they're dealing with other nations even if they're fighting on the same side. Just because at the end of the day everyone knows that they are out for the protection of their own lands. It's not all about the power of friendship

I think the musou gameplay itself also helps the war feel more like a war. Going into battle and using strategies and hearing the characters respond to battle developments as they happen makes them feel more like actual battles.

It's technically a holy relic and it wasn't needed before then so it makes sense the church would safe guard it until it was.
Lorewise the relics are pretty important weapons that can change the outcome of a battle. Makes sense that the Church keep them safe and locked at Garreg Mach if there is no one to wield it.
And frankly in the game is not that hard to make the church give you this powerful weapon you just have to tell them "I have the crest and i will not do stupid shit with the weapon"

Why is Azure Gleam so damn long? Both Scarlet Blaze and Golden Wildfire had several chapters where the chapter was a single region, meaning there were no side-missions on the chapter. But I'm on Chapter 11 and Azure Gleam hasn't had a single chapter like that so far.

He has the right skills the only reason people are iffy about him is because he's a murderer and a rapist who enjoyed murder and rape.
Funny thing, putting him in charge of the Fotress basically let him live the life he wanted to have as the heir of Gautier. Him dying fighting against miserable odds was more or less his good end.
