I killed the death knight but dedue somehow got fricking one shotted even with the defense up wait skill, i'm out of divine pulses, should i load the save or just try to replace him with someone else later? I really don't want to do this whole battle again.

Save in another slot than reload the old one, Dedue's a bro.
He seems to be a good tank even though he got his ass kicked, but if i can get someone better I'll take the loss, this battle toke a while and i'm only missing the commander to end it now.
At the start of part 2 Dedue spends a few levels out of comission and you get another knight to replace him in the meantime. Dedue is generally considered to fall off due to the EXP he misses out during this
He easily bounces back from this however, even without stat enhancers, although using them is still recommended.
Also Gilbert is straight cheeks as a character in general and mediocre as a unit.
I once had him increase none of his stats in a level up
Yeah that can happen to non student units
Well OP I feel you on not wanting to redo the battle but Dedue rules. He's a great tank early game and end game he can pretty easily switch to war master, one of the best damage dealing classes in the game. All that being said he's a fricking digger and we should put them all to the torch!
Why does everyone get filtered by Gilbert, he's a great character. I bet you're an Annette gay but do 't realize that she would hate you for hating him
I like Gilbert, he is ovbiously a very flawed person but I feel like most of the playerbase misses the point of his character and assume he has no redeeming qualities.
Especially since there are actual pieces of shit in the other FE games, like Lifis or Makalov.
I killed the commander, I'll miss dedue taking no damage, but even if I try again I don't know how to kill the Black person knight without someone dying.
How bad is Dedue getting killed? Do you have a shield on him?
I have never bought a shield, i kinda forgot they existed actually.
An Iron Shield will save you about 4 damage, is that enough to live to the next turn?
Probably not, his first hit dealt slightly more than half dedue's health in damage, the second hit was a crit.
What Battalion do you have on him? Give him one that boosts his Protection as much as possible.
Dedue still has access to really good arts like One-Two Punch and vengeance which keeps him relevant even if he starts a bit behind in part 2
Also if you picked up death blow and mastered grappler in part 1, he'll be starting with fierce iron fist in part 2 anyways which deletes everything.
He also learns battalion wrath at C authority, so theres also the option of picking up vengeance from mastering merc and then using those together for a vantage/wrath build
The main downside to Dedue is a flying bane which means its harder to make him a wyvern if you're into that, but hes a pretty versatile physical unit in spite of missing out on some maps
>so theres also the option of picking up vengeance from mastering merc
I meant to type vantage whoops
There's no better tank than Dedue, even outside of blue lions. The fact that he got one shotted by the fricking death knight doesn't change that. Reset for bro, and play the Duscur paralogue.
Out of curiosity OP, what chapter are you currently on, and what are you training each character in?
It's the fight at the mausoleum, i assume you see the death knight again later.
>what are you training each character in?
I don't remember exactly what I choose for each, dedue had axe and heavy armor because I thought it could be good for him later.
Goddammit, maybe I'll do this shit again after all.
Haha doodoo
Death Knight is an optional side objective in that mission and you get nothing useful for defeating him. Certainly not worth permakilling one of your units over.
There's only a few things that work against DK in the sense of surviving the retaliation in that fight.
I assumed he was running Maddening.
By the way OP Blue Lions have story content that's gated behind a side mission you can only access if you have Caspar, and he needs to be fairly strong if you're going to beat it.
Just recruit Caspar in chapter 12 so his stats are as high as possible, hand him a killer axe+ and the strongest battalion you have, and rig a smash crit turn 1 on the DK in that map
He should be able to do it at base on maddening like that
Bump, curious to hear back from OP.
I tried hitting a mage with dedue at half health, i could kill him if I landed the hit, i had 79 hit chance, i did this once, died, tried again, died, got angry so i tried again and died, now I'm cooling my head while watching YouTube videos.
Did you rewind and immediately try the same action again?
RNG doesn't change when you rewind, so you need to change the order of your actions if you want the outcome to change
Why the frick would it work like that??
It rewinds the seed along with your movements. Keep track of which order you do things on, and the turn you missed try a different attack that has a higher accuracy. If that doesn't work you'll just have to find another attack you want to waste in it's place.
Probably to discourage people from bruteforcing RNG changes by rewinding, especially if you were to say, rewind during enemy phase
But if anything it makes the game even easier because it makes rigging crits or low% hits easier
Worth sacrifing Sylvain to kill the death knight? He's my worst unit and has a moronic personality.
Dark Seals are actually basically useless for everyone but hubert, who you don't have since you're playing blue lions. Poison strike is ok but everything else on dark mage/sage is a meme
