I actually feel more bad for Miklan's death than I ever will for Randolph or Ladislava. Guy looks like he was going to turn his life around despite being a Crestlet in a family that needs a heir to wield Relics requiring Crests In Hopes. He doesn't even seem like a bad guy in Hopes as much. Randolph or Ladislava are just minor characters with only a slight different appearance with names that were created just so they can die.

Well, Miklan spent a lot of years raping and murdering and all that fun stuff, and he was only defending Arianrhod because he was forced to and had guards watching him around the clock ready to cut his head off if he tried to book it. He definitely wasn't a good person. Going down having gained everyone's respect and redeeming himself a little was probably the best end there could've been for him.
I see a lot of people say Gremory is bad but the pillar of light attack with Essence of Light offers ridiculous healing as well as breaking meter very easily while bringing enemies into critical rush range.
Personally, I don't think any of the tome classes are bad. A lot of their moves are actually pretty solid at what they do. Until Tome rank goes up to B though, they do have an uphill battle.
Are any characters better not going down the full upgrade class tree? Shamir just looks silly on a horse, and dismounting mid-battle doesn't get rid of the ill-fitting knight outfit.
Not sure which characters might benefit from it, but it's worth noting that some Advanced classes have total growth rates almost on par with Master classes, and they might actually benefit in those Advanced classes. An example is Swordmaster, Mortal Savant, MS gets magic growth but Swordmaster gets speed growth, so if you can't really make use of the Mag, you might want speed? Though I don't know how useful speed here is.

DLC is Jeralt's mercenary route, after the first chapter you get recruited to Jeralts mercs and you do so to learn about byleth and take him down but you end up becoming best friends basically. You do jobs for the 3 lords but the focus will be arval and sothis.
Why is this game called Hopes when all the endings are actually more hopeless than any the one in Houses? One of the devs must hate Claude because his ending gets it the worst. All the three major powers are all back where they started, where at least in Edelgard and Dimitri's endings, their faction is now the strongest of the three.

Any sort of claim of a relationship obviously requires a consent and its recognition from the two (or more) sides, otherwise it's just a headcanon and wishful thinking.

It starts off so strong with the Ferdinand chapters that they could've gone two ways with Claude's route:

Recruits get the option to fight for the other side or die on the spot. They are effectively prisoners of war. A choice you make under duress isn't a choice you make "willingly".
Edeltard is evil, but this is taken out of context. Caspar apologizes in their other support and admits commoners do have trouble. Hanneman even admits he joins Edeltard regardless of route because of how his sister was murdered for having a crest.

I think a lot of that was a consequence of him being recruitable and 3 Houses being very lenient with its support timing. Many of his b-supports had to be route neutral on top of taking place either during the school or war phase.
It wouldn’t have made sense for schoolboy Sylvain to act like a tired war vet so he had to be his 20 year old self and the support itself had to assume there wasn’t a 5 year gap in between making him look immature as shit.
Locking down the recruits was a good decision and the Lions as a whole benefit the most since they’re supports can make assumptions about where you are in the story.

If I didn't get the S rank on Azure Gleam's Byleth mission (chapter 12) because it's pretty much impossible to get enough kills while getting the requirements. So once I go to the record guy and do this mission normally without theavoid ambush strategy, I won't lose Rodrigue, Byleth and Jeralt, right?
The record keeper doesn’t change your current story, and you can use their service to run a map on a completed route while playing through a different route altogether.
Hopes and AoC turned their adventure modes from HW and FEW into the story submissions.
It's there, it's just interwoven.
Whether you like it more or less is subjective.
Hopes has a really long campaign for a musou, easily fifty hours per route if you 100% them. I'm pretty satisfied by the amount of stuff here, but I wish they could've trimmed the three routes down by a couple chapters and added a real, noncanon postgame mode where you can use everyone and see some of the more obscure interactions like how Seteth and Flayn have unique VS dialogue or adding new 'impossible' cross house supports like Edel & Hilda or something. There was a lot of potential for something like that.
He doesn't feel very different to me. He just doesn't get as many opportunities to frick around. He still makes stupid "I think I'm in love" comments during battle and still has some playful, flirty supports. The "serious" Sylvain was always there in Houses though.
You press A to do a musou attack, which is a special cinematic attack that has big AoE and deals huge damage.
They made the musou gauge fill very slowly in this game compared to other musous, but you can alleviate it a bit by cooking food that increases the charge rate.

The class gauge. Press ZL+X to see what it does for your current class. For example, for cavalry classes it's a forward charging attack that you can hold as long as you have gauge remaining.

He's unhappy with his surrender and doesn't stop whining about it until the very end of the route where you recruit in. In AG, Ashe is content with killing Lonato because he did "what was right" by putting chivalry before family. He concludes that Lonato would have wanted Ashe to kill him, if he was following his own idea of justice.
This is the correct take. Some cultures may value family before all others—Japan, even with Bushido, greatly resents and condemns family killing family—but Northern European cultures emphasized the oath of a knight to their king. It was even bound with a kiss way back when, believe it or not.
Ashe, as a knight, has an obligation to serve Dimitri until death. It’s why Gustave abandoned his family when Lambert was killed, because he failed in his oath, and was “without honor”. Dedue is by far the biggest practitioner of chivalry in these games, and his heritage of Duscur on further emphasizes that point.

Assign Heal/Physic/Fortify magic to your R+Y or R+X, get them to low HP, order them to target the wounded ally with ZR and select the magic.
If it's just on yourself, then it'll be the vulnerary, so you need the order arrow from healer to target.

Well, Miklan spent a lot of years raping and murdering and all that fun stuff, and he was only defending Arianrhod because he was forced to and had guards watching him around the clock ready to cut his head off if he tried to book it. I see a lot of people say Gremory is bad but the pillar of light attack with Essence of Light offers ridiculous healing as well as breaking meter very easily while bringing enemies into critical rush range.
Personally, I don't think any of the tome classes are bad. A lot of their moves are actually pretty solid at what they do. Until Tome rank goes up to B though, they do have an uphill battle.
Are any characters better not going down the full upgrade class tree? Shamir just looks silly on a horse, and dismounting mid-battle doesn't get rid of the ill-fitting knight outfit.
Not sure which characters might benefit from it, but it's worth noting that some Advanced classes have total growth rates almost on par with Master classes, and they might actually benefit in those Advanced classes. An example is Swordmaster, Mortal Savant, MS gets magic growth but Swordmaster gets speed growth, so if you can't really make use of the Mag, you might want speed? Though I don't know how useful speed here is.

DLC is Jeralt's mercenary route, after the first chapter you get recruited to Jeralts mercs and you do so to learn about byleth and take him down but you end up becoming best friends basically. You do jobs for the 3 lords but the focus will be arval and sothis.
Why is this game called Hopes when all the endings are actually more hopeless than any the one in Houses? One of the devs must hate Claude because his ending gets it the worst. All the three major powers are all back where they started, where at least in Edelgard and Dimitri's endings, their faction is now the strongest of the three.

I think a lot of that was a consequence of him being recruitable and 3 Houses being very lenient with its support timing. Many of his b-supports had to be route neutral on top of taking place either during the school or war phase.

Locking down the recruits was a good decision and the Lions as a whole benefit the most since they’re supports can make assumptions about where you are in the story.

Hopes has a really long campaign for a musou, easily fifty hours per route if you 100% them. I'm pretty satisfied by the amount of stuff here, but I wish they could've trimmed the three routes down by a couple chapters and added a real, noncanon postgame mode where you can use everyone and see some of the more obscure interactions like how Seteth and Flayn have unique VS dialogue or adding new 'impossible' cross house supports like Edel & Hilda or something. There was a lot of potential for something like that.

He doesn't feel very different to me. He just doesn't get as many opportunities to frick around. He still makes stupid "I think I'm in love" comments during battle and still has some playful, flirty supports. The "serious" Sylvain was always there in Houses though.

You press A to do a musou attack, which is a special cinematic attack that has big AoE and deals huge damage.
They made the musou gauge fill very slowly in this game compared to other musous, but you can alleviate it a bit by cooking food that increases the charge rate.

In defense of Ingrid and Anette, and with contempt for Ashe, Ashe never expresses that protecting or honoring Lonato was important to him. He's unhappy with his surrender and doesn't stop whining about it until the very end of the route where you recruit in. In AG, Ashe is content with killing Lonato because he did "what was right" by putting chivalry before family. He concludes that Lonato would have wanted Ashe to kill him, if he was following his own idea of justice.
This is the correct take. Some cultures may value family before all others—Japan, even with Bushido, greatly resents and condemns family killing family—but Northern European cultures emphasized the oath of a knight to their king. It was even bound with a kiss way back when, believe it or not.
Ashe, as a knight, has an obligation to serve Dimitri until death. It’s why Gustave abandoned his family when Lambert was killed, because he failed in his oath, and was “without honor”. Dedue is by far the biggest practitioner of chivalry in these games, and his heritage of Duscur on further emphasizes that point.

I managed to get Mercurius at some point during my AG playthrough but now I'm almost done with GW and haven't gotten any other one of those weapons anywhere else.
They seem to drop from monsters at higher difficulties (maddenning). I got 2 gradivus and a dragon claw drop from a mission on NG+.
There should also be at least one world map event that gives you 1 freebie per playthrough

I'm probably moronic but how do you gain support via healing alliad units? I assume it's under orders and you select "heal" and it uses one of your Vulnerary's but can't priests heal for "free"? I'm not sure i have that skill yet, or at least I don't see it.

Assign Heal/Physic/Fortify magic to your R+Y or R+X, get them to low HP, order them to target the wounded ally with ZR and select the magic.
If it's just on yourself, then it'll be the vulnerary, so you need the order arrow from healer to target.
