I barely used the battle frontier and ORAS was still a worse experience than the OGs. Looks like shit, plays slowers because of the useless cutscenes and the dungeons are gutted
Eh, HGSS is better than ORAS in my opinion. They’re built on the foundation of superior games and add more to the experience. That being said, ORAS still gets way more hate than they deserve. My singular lasting criticism is that we got another Battle Maison instead of something more expansive (Frontier). It was the perfect time to revisit a proper frontier because a significant portion of the barriers of entry had been removed with Gen 6 breeding (and Super Training). Just another example of corporations forcing devs to shit out games well before they are ready.

Tech limitations force them to be deliberate and effective, while modern dev kits streamline things to a point that they don’t have to consider the pros and cons of each implementation (or at least not to the same degree). It’s why modern games have massively bloated file sizes, yet feel empty.
Combine this with corporate meddling (gotta get those releases out on time for stakeholder benchmarks), and you can explain a lot about what is wrong with vidya.

ORAS becomes fun when you stop thinking that it is a remake but as a retelling of the Hoenn Saga but this time you aren't shoehorned into being May/Brendan because you can design your OCdonutsteel
I've got no idea, before ORAS, they were considered the peak of pokemon games, as were third versions but those ended in a pretty bad note with the USUM scams.
I'd say that it's probably the fact that GF uses way too much of their resources making 3D games, that they can't focus on remakes.
But, then gain, in ORAS they deliberately cut features, so maybe they just got lazy.
There was no need for remakes past HGSS because gen3+ hasn't aged as badly as the first two gens did. Gamefreak clearly isn't interested in making them either, I think they literally only get made to appease patterngays. In other words, they suck because people demand them when they're not really necessary anymore. You need to realize that FRLG/HGSS were products of their time and move on.

BDSP’s sales are just a product of being on the Switch, where everything sells well. There are going to be a lot of major releases on Switch that won’t hold up to scrutiny when looking back in the future. Many of these games simply don’t have passion behind them.
