First souls game here. My ass is getting kicked. Why do I have so little health? Is this the artificial difficulty that From fans love so much?

It's actually the most fair from software game
Yes I see, but it seems like it's unfair that the enemies don't drop health and the only way to get really get health is limited goard charges. So the only way I can keep advancing is to pretty much play perfectly between sculptor's idols. Do I have this right or am I missing something
Inverse loop where it is harder in the beginning, a few "are you winning, son?" gut checks, but eventually gets easier. Health gets bigger, gourd gets more charges, you get to die twice. Get good, it is easy to do. Watch one of the many video essays that tell you what to do.
It's not a souls game, you dimwit
Hey Souls vet here. Sekiro is the only one I didnt play for a while because i hated the gameplay but heres pretty much the gist.
>Try not to ever be in anything but a 1v1 taking on multiple baddies is very unforgiving and not advised at all
>Stealth is most advised to most encounters the more you can riddle down to not engage in more then 1 enemy the better
>Parry is the core of combat so your reflexes better be good
Would add that after your own strike is parried enemies start attacking you and have hyperarmor for a next few frames, so prepare to parry.
And don't completely disregard prostheticsmartial arts, some have unique interactions with certain enemiesbosses or are a hard counter to certain types of moves, but the game rarely tells you about that.
>I don't know how to play the game, let me give you advice on it
Back to souls with you.
Just finished it the 4th time and got all achievements, its my favorite fromsoft game I fricking love it but im sad elden ring didnt take the parry aspect
You have to stop playing it as an action rpg and start playing like a rhythm game. Thank me later.
It's a shit button masher and generally not enjoyable as first time player
I would recommend literally any other souls game as your first. I think Elden Ring would be the best start for a new player and this as the worst.
My favourite souls games are the ones you can wear be a strength chad and bonk things to death with heavy armour and I had the most fun in doing that in Dark Souls 3
Both your L1 and R1 are overpowered in this game. You can deflect anything that is not a red kanji attack, and even Red Kanji thrusts can be deflected (mikiri counter is way better though).
Mindful aggression is key. Forcing enemies into blocking limits their options, they are way more dangerous out of neutral compared to their options out of deflecting your R1s.
>why is my hp so low
Because you have the second hp bar which is posture. It recovers while you are holding block.
You picked the second worst game as your first souls game
What's the first?
Demon souls
>Sekiro
>souls game
Are prosthetics mostly useless outside of when it's obvious to use them, I've played this game like 4 times and every time I tell myself I'm going to try to use more prosthetic attacks and they always seem worse than just regular attacks
Eh yes and no I'd say. They are handy but having them tied to a sort of finite resource made me forget about having them. I remember on my second run messing with them some more and found you can brute strength through a posture bar of a lot of the bosses which could be useful for a phase someone might have issues with.
Probably 2
I refused to play this game after they baited a new tenchu game & then released babys first souls japan edition.
Why does this game play like fricking dogshit on my pc but elden ring is fine?
Don't listen to shitters, Op. Sekiro is an amazing action game, Souls games pale in comparison.
lol lmao
sure sekiroBlack person your game is trash
even DS2 beats Sekiro by comparison kek
You’re getting your ass kicked because you’re playing it like a souls game
In this game you press L1 when enemy swings sword instead of B when enemy swings sword. I know it’s a far departure from what you’re used to but please try to adapt
>First souls game here
>because you’re playing it like a souls game
Ok moron listen here FIRST means he has never played souls games before. He can't play Sekiro like a souls game. Use your fricking brain for a second. Of course that's considering OP isn't your usual homosexual who lies and baits from the start.
Since you are calling people names, let's nitpick your post too. Technically he can play it as a souls game never having played souls if he picks the playstyle by accident. You should follow your own advice.
Just learn patterns you fricking idiot
DMC-lite ching chong edition. Nioh is miles better.
Better at being a bad game? 2.5 types of enemies, bosses with moveset smaller than regular enemies, missions that you replay 10 times each, pointless loot that changes nothing but countless stats, most of which are pointless. That fricking game feels like it was intended for Google Play as another cashgrab pile of shit with lootboxes and 'energy', but somehow made it on PC and consoles.
>The core mechanics are based on block and parry, so do that and you're golden.
>Some bosses have their gimmicks and are weak to certain things like elements, attacks, parries like Mikiri, etc. Try to find the exploit and how to counter their attacks, be smart.
>Posture is a big deal and is the best way to break into boss' phases more often than not.
>Try not to be extremely agressive, some bosses and enemies love to punish that.
>Try 1v1 enemies instead of fighting like a capeshit movie character
Huge etc, you'll learn.
I used to hate Sekiro because it wasn't Dark Souls and quit for a couple years. Just to come back and realize it is a really good time, although somewhat unforgiving and frustrating at times. But the summit is worth it.
its the worst souls game you could have start with, it has the same combat since the first engagement with the enemy throughout the whole game, boss fights are chore and not fun and the world is linear as frick with almost zero exploration reward and the story is shit, it is action game first, fromsoft game second.
>First souls game here.
moron
first playthrough, sometimes about it felt off to me, it didn't click like souls did, I ended up dropping it for multiple months before finishing it, felt like a chore... yet by the end, I immediately replayed it in ng+ cl/db, despite never replaying the souls games
